Lol. . .It is always beneficial to read and apply knowledge. There is no point in educating oneself if one will still be following the norm. Back in the day, the church burned anyone at the stake for even suggesting that the earth was round. Same with curing most diseases. It was termed witchcraft. Later, it was said that it was impossible to visit the stars. People are now living in space stations, up there and are now taking applications from people who would want to be the first to go to mars and live there forever. It is a one way trip. This galaxy is huge bro's. As history has told us countless times, nothing is impossible where science is involved. It is only in Nigeria that it is impossible because we are still living in the pre caveman era.

America is not trying to defeat ISIS. Iraq and Afghanistan has taught us that. They are trying to contain them. They understand it cannot be defeated because it is an idea. Ideas can't be defeated by bullets. It can only be defeated through orientation, re orientation and equity.

Buhari was too optimistic and yes he got it wrong. It will probably take another year to completely defeat Boko Haram.

However he has done a far better job than the clueless one who did not fight Boko Haram until a few weeks before elections thinking that will make him win. Under Sir Clueless Jonathan, Boko Haram was in control of almost two States!
I guarantee in 2017 you'll still be wondering why the army is still fighting BH since it's obvious no one in Nigeria seems to understand terrorist and terrorism

Some black marketers buy from the service stations and sell to villages where a service station is not situated. Some of the villages even about a 30 mins drive to the service stations.

Some people live behind service stations but they can't buy fuel because they don't own a car or a motorcycle.
In the situations above, is it illegal or legal? In normal circumstances, where everything is in place, it would be illegal regarding the laws against it, but since the government have refused to address some issues that encourage black market, what do you have to say?

NB I'm talking about those that buy from service stations and resale to petty consumers.
But that's my point. When you patronize black marketers you are perpetuating illegal supply. I know sometimes it is unavoidable but i am under no illusion that it is a good thing.

Yes marketers hoard petrol to sell at a higher price in black markets which is very bad and should be tackled by every legal means.

I get what you mean and that's why I used the poor man and gallon example. I'm only making a case for the masses who the government has refused to provide with alternative means of readily getting petroleum products at service stations without a Jerrycan.
But that's my point. When you patronize black marketers you are perpetuating illegal supply. I know sometimes it is unavoidable but i am under no illusion that it is a good thing.

Black market might not be a good thing in America, Saudi Arabia or in Europe because those countries readily have petrol for both industrial and home consumption of their citizens. That's not the case in Nigeria where a poor man cannot buy petrol with gallon just for home use while he is suffering lack of electricity.

In Nigeria, black market is a good thing
, the advantages out weighs the disadvantages.
I'm not saying if the man resorted to crime he is justified, no. I just acknowledge his sense of adaptation to law/life rather than lazying about.
I don't think you really understand what black market is. Don't let emotion take over reason. It is never a good thing. Imagine that i am the owner of a filling station in a remote town in Nigeria. I am the only station for miles. You have no choice but to buy from me. I could easily create a black market situation by not selling fuel and creating scarcity. instead of buying from the pumps you would be buying at four hundred percent the price from my agents scattered all over the place. Now, would you still say that is a good thing?

You are right about that. It took forever for me to get used to their christmas and new year celebration here. Thirdly,it's not a crime devising a means to adapt to bans/life
, stop deriding Nigerians unnecessarily. Would it have been better if those three guys resorted to crime as a means of survival after the ban on black markets? If you haven't seen the usefulness of black market during scarcity, I have and that is why I don't see anything wrong with black market, they don't force you to buy their fuel.

I agree with everything but the above. Your argument could as well be used by an armed robber. There is nowhere in the world where black market is a good thing. It exists, yes. But that does not make it a good thing. The ends does not justify the means.

Nice quota, but don't you think voluntary euthanasia is more or less suicide/assisted suicide? I don't think suicide is a good way to go. Let death come naturally, in fact I am beginning to move towards the scrapping of euthanasia no matter which category. No matter how long a person has been ill, let death have the final say. We as humans do not possess the right to decide who dies or who doesn't.
That's easy for you to say. God forbid you were in an accident and from your stomach down you were crushed and the doctors had to sever it. You are on life support and your family is spending thousands of dollars per month to keep you alive. Your wife has sold your two houses plus your cars and now she has to move in with your brothers family. This along with your children. Let's see if you won't take the option if presented to you. The kids annoyed me last night. My wife was like "hey why don't we have pancakes for breakfast?" and Akpons, my second kid goes "yeah, but i hope dad isn't making it, he sucks at pancakes", and masterflex, my first kid starts laughing. They don't call me captain foodo for nothing. Me, the 7th member of the Justice League. Ok. Got it. I took it upon myself to prove them wrong. My first try was a disaster. I used bukky, my cast iron skillet and it did not work out so well, so i switched to ifeanyi, my non stick pan and it came out beautifully. fluffy and all. It was nice seeing the look of surprise on their faces when they saw their plates. I drowned mine in pancake syrup. Why? Cause that's how i like it. Hey cococandy, I hope you have an awesome year, plenty of blessings, lots of isi ewu, and enough jollof rice.

Education › Re: 10 Ways To Read And Understand by Bollinger(m): 12:52pm On Jan 02, 2016
Mediapace:
Most students have been complaining that they fail these and that, even to the extent that 47% was recorded for pass grade at the just concluded G.C.E. WAEC,Our guidelines will help you to read and understand.
Take your pen as you read,it goes thus :

1.Take Away all distractions:
Don't allow your brain and your body at large to be distracted by Gf/BF,Food,family problems e.t.c. when reading,
One brain can't do more than one things perfectly at a time, your brain is not a machine[even machines do rest] avoid over using it. When you are reading, focus with one mind and avoid diversion. Moreso, some students are also distracted by meaningless things like games, social medias e.t.c. When reading, that shouldn't be,focus your brain on what you are reading

2.Take A respite:- An adage says "All work and no play makes jack a dull boy". After reading for like 45 to 60mins,take a respite and relax, don't over use your memory by reading for 6hrs without stopping. USE YOUR Brain wisely. When you relax for about 15mins,come back fresh and excited.

3.Summarize what you read:
Take a brief upshot of what you read, some books might be tedious that you might not want to read again, take brief note of some keywords on what you read and write them down,it really helps.
Read at the best time easy for you , God created us in different ways but thesame patterns,
Don't read when you hate most like in the midnight when most people hate, don't inconvinient yourself and know when you assimilate what you read most.
Like me now,it is in the MORNING.
Discover yourself!

4. Read at the best time easy for you :
God created us in different ways but thesame patterns,Don't read when you hate most like in the midnight when most people hate, don't inconvinient yourself and know when you assimilate what you read most. Like me now,it is in the MORNING. Discover yourself!
5.If possible,read in groups:
Sometimes, you may feel bored when you read alone, call your friends and mates so that you can read together but don't misuse the opportunity by playing and gisting for fun when you ought to be reading, you can only gist when on respite

6.Use Dictionaries when reading :
Most of the times when you read,it is not advicable to use dictionaries because it waste time and distracts attention but there are some courses you need it e.g. GEOLOGY: Words like seismometer e.t.c.

7.Ask yourself questions on what you read after reading :
An adage also says "Without an Exam/ TEST,No success, test yourself on what you read by asking yourself question on it,just like revising.

8.Create the habit of reading at least twice a a day :
At times, when you read a topic today and continue it tommorow, you may still forget what you read, just read twice a day and there is every possibility you may never forget what you read again

9.Don't be forced to read :
This is mostly applicable to secondary school students, why should they force you to read? ! When they force you to read, you can't even understand what you read and it also leads to creating some hatred habits towards the course

Very good topic. I am what you'd call a professional crammer. We usually have yearly competitions in my organization to see who knows our doctrines best and i've won quite a few. From my experience, i've found that it is always helpful to;

1. Study at every opportunity you have; People always claim there's not enough time for them to study. I call bullshit on that one. There's always time. Every time you are playing video games, chasing a girl or guy, watching tv, drinking beer, partying, etc, that time can be allocated to developing your mind.

2. Study to the point of exhaustion; When you read and read a particular subject and let's say you fall asleep doing it, when you wake up, don't just get up. Try and remember what you read before you fell asleep. Whatever you remember at that point, chances are it will stay in your memory for a long time.

3. Use the human resource you have; My wife usually get's annoyed whenever i have a competition coming up. She already know's what the deal is. I always use her as a questionnaire. She would sit with me for hours with one of our regulations and ask me questions over and over again.

4. Get mp3's of whatever you want to learn; Ever wondered how you can remember dozens of songs for years? Well the same principle can be applied to studying. I usually record what i want to learn on my phone and just listen to it over and over again.

Hope this helps someone.

You guys will never learn;

1. Defeat Boko Haram completely, not technically; It can't be done. You can't defeat terrorism without changing the way terrorists think. It is an idea. You can't change ideas with bullets.

2. Begin payment of N5,000 allowance to unemployed youths; And where will the funds come from? How do you determine who benefits from it? You can't even pay salaries or provide gas for it's masses and you want 5k. Ok.

3. Fight corruption squarely; Yeah like that's going to happen.

4. End the continued fuel scarcity across the nation; Until Nigeria ends this crap called fuel subsidy and starts to refine it's own petroleum products then you might as well be dreaming.

5. Reduction of pump price of petrol; Only market forces can, should determine that.

6. Save the failing Naira; Stop the over dependence on oil and there might be a chance.

7. The President cuts the frequency of his travels; You are just talking out of ignorance. No nation is an island + Nigeria has a terrible image and it needs it's leader to reassure the outside world. Not everything can be done through skype you know.

I was a member of the Osjack and Abuede football clubs (in that order) which was at the time the main poaching ground for coaches recruiting for the under 17 and 21 National teams. I was actually called up twice for tryouts but never made the final list. When we played, we played for pride, ambition and the enjoyment of the game. We did not play for money. We were supposed to be young, remember? Maybe that's why we were so good. Now the focus is on money. Don't get me wrong, money is important but not at that age level. Maybe now, we'll start using true under 17 players.

The leaders don't suffer from amnesia. The citizens do. And it's acute. If the citizens didn't, they would remember which party performed well, and which individual did his/her best during their tenure. They would remember not to let sycophancy influence their allegiances. Don't you see the way people hail Amaechi, Fayose, etc. The moment is all that matters to Nigerians. Not the past. Not the future. Just today. And don't even bring up the point about the way Nigerians think. Nigerianss in general have a phucked up mentality. They want change but want to keep doing the things they've been doing and thinking the way they've been thinking which has led them to the present predicament they are in at the moment.
