EducationSokoto Govt. Uncovers 706 “ghost” Students by boman2014(op): 2:49pm On Jul 18, 2017
A committee set up by the Sokoto State Government to verify the actual number of students entitled to its scholarship says it has uncovered 706 “ghost” students.

Its Chairman, Mr Shehu Wurno, announced this on Tuesday in Sokoto, when he presented the committee’s report to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.

Wurno said that the committee visited 40 tertiary institutions within and outside the country where it verified and confirmed 14,532 students as qualified for the scholarship.

“We have also confirmed that N544,613,724 is the total cost of students registration for the year 2016/2017 academic session, while N143,560,855 is the allowances to the verified students.

“We have also verified and confirmed that N688,174,579 is the actual amount owed as students registration and allowances for the current 2016/2017 session,” he said.

Tambuwal, who thanked the committee for its efforts, restated his administration’s resolve to give top priority to the education sector.

“To boost funding for the sector, we have introduced an education levy where civil servants and political office holders are being taxed to complement other sources of funding.

“We have so far realised N260 million from that levy. We hope to liaise with the state consultative committee on revitalisation of education, headed by Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad, to intensify our work in the education sector,” Tambuwal said.

The governor assured the committee that its recommendations would be implemented, and declared that no investment would be too much for the education sector.

He appealed to critics to always cross check their facts before going public, adding that proper checks and balances had been put in place to ensure transparency in the handling of public funds.

Music/RadioFG To Stop Production Of Nigerian Movies, Music, Abroad by boman2014(op): 9:18pm On Jul 15, 2017
The Federal Government says it has taken steps to amend the Nigeria
Broadcasting Code to discourage the production of Nigerian movies and music
outside the shore of the country.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this
known on Saturday in Lagos when he paid a visit to the headquarters of the
Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).

The Minister decried the situation whereby films, reality TV shows and music,
were made outside Nigeria, for consumption by Nigerians.

He said the situation had hampered empowerment of practitioners in the
industry, the development of the sector and the nation’s economy in general.
“This government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria
in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria.

“We cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our
films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria.

“The Broadcasting Code and the Advertising Code are very clear on this.
“For you to classify a product as a Nigerian product, it must have a certain
percentage of Nigerian content,” he said.

The Minister noted that what was happening today was that Nigerian artists
were often flown out of this country to go and make their recordings.
“When they get there, they will patronise the economy of that country and then
bring the products back to Nigeria for us to consume.

“It is like somebody going to China or Japan to make a product that looks like
palm wine and bring it back home to label it Nigerian palm wine”.

He stressed that “as long as we are not able to implement our own code to
ensure local production of Nigerian music and movies, , our young talents will
not get jobs”.

“It is Nigerians that pay for the consumption of these products and therefore
they must be allowed and encouraged to participate in their production.
“I am going to meet with the relevant stakeholders over this, to see that
whatever amendment that is needed to be made to our Broadcasting Code in
this regard, is done urgently, ” he said.

To encourage local production of films and music, the Minister said that Nigeria
Investment Promotion Commission had put forward a proposal to classify the
Creative Industry and grant it a pioneer status.

He said that with the pioneer status, the creative industry would be entitled to
certain incentives and tax holiday.

The Minister said that there would also be waivers for shipment of imported
music and films production equipment.

He stressed that the federal government was committed to making the creative
industry viable, dynamic and sustainable.

Mohammed said that as one of the key areas for diversification of the economy,
the creative industry would be private sector-driven, while government would
create the enabling environment for its growth.

The Minister lauded COSON and its management team for achieving a lot in
seven years of existence.

“I am very proud of COSON because in terms of excellence and competence,
COSON can compete with any known international brand.

“COSON is operating in a tough environment where people believe that
intellectual property of people belong to no one and is meant for the use of all,
without compensation.

“The body has however done a lot in copyright royalty collection and
distribution since its inception in 2010,.” he said.

Earlier, Chairman of COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji said that the Society was an
umbrella body to fight copyright infringements.

He recalled that for many decades, music was broadcast freely on radio and TV
stations across Nigeria, and dished out in hotels, as if they belonged to no one.
He said COSON was set up to manage the collection and distribution of royalties
arising from the public and commercial use of musical works and sound
recordings

He said COSON was being managed in transparent manner by professionals,
and had distributed over half a billion Naira in royalties since its inception in
2010.

Newsmen report that Okoroji, along with COSON management team, conducted
the Minister and his entourage round the facilities at the headquarters of the
organisation.

In the entourage of the Minister were, the Director Generals of Nigeria Television
Authority, Yakubu Mohammed and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr
Mansur Liman.

Fast forward I got a job far away thus I had not been coming, last month i came to access the banana only to discover the lock had been changed, I called the pastor of the church and he told me I could only have access when they have service which is Sundays. I told him I want a spare he denied me. The lock is to the gate of the compound and is also the gate the Church use. Aside the gate there is another gate leading to the church directly.

I changed the locks of the main gate (the gate leading to the church was untouched) gave a spare to the assistant pastor.

Yesterday I was arrested and I was asked if I truly change the lock., I told them that I did and I was to be thrown in the cell if not for a friend that came to bail on time.
Was I wrong to have broken the lock that led to my land considering that the church have another gate leading to its premises? I was told I could only go there if the church is in service is that right? I feel so violated

PoliticsPDP Announces ‘amnesty’ For Sheriff, Cairo, Others by boman2014(op): 6:50am On Jul 14, 2017
John Ameh, Olusola Fabiyi and Godwin Isenyo

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has announced what it called “general amnesty” for its members who it said participated in the crisis that engulfed the party in the last 14 months.

It said while it would overlook the sins committed by those set of people, it nevertheless warned that anyone who participates in fresh plot against the former ruling party would not be forgiven.

The Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, stated this in an interview with reporters in Abuja on Thursday.

The former governor of Kaduna State was reacting to a question on whether the party would sanction the sacked National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and those in his camp who took the party to court over the outcome of its May 21, 2016 national convention.

Apart from Sheriff, some of those in his camp were the party’s former National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo; Sheriff’s deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, and the acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Bernard Mikko.

Makarfi, who described the last 14 months as very worrisome for the party, however, said there was no need punishing those who made the party to experience the setback.

Speaking through the spokesperson for the caretaker committee, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, Makarfi called on those with pending cases against the party at state levels, to withdraw them.

Adeyeye, a former Minister of State for Works, said the PDP would provide a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He stated, “No, we won’t punish anyone for what had happened in the past. Our doors are open for everyone, including those who are not members of the PDP.

“It is general amnesty for all. It is when you begin to commit fresh sins or causing fresh troubles that we will then look at it.

“We want to appeal to everybody, those who have cases in courts, to withdraw them in the interest of the party. You can see that everybody is happy because of the outcome of the case.”

Adeyeye alleged that the APC had failed the people, saying Nigerians were looking for a party that would offer solutions to current challenges.

He stated, “APC is a monumental disaster. People are looking for alternative and now the Supreme Court has restored their hope. We will provide the alternative platform.

“As we can see now, 2019 election will be a walkover in our favour. APC will begin to see virile opposition henceforth.”

In his reaction, Sheriff said he was not sure that Makarfi could be calling for amnesty for him and his group, adding that until he was sure that the former governor made the call, he would not respond.

Sheriff, who spoke through Ojougboh, said, “He said that he was going to grant us amnesty? Are we criminals? No, he couldn’t have said that.

“Let’s wait and see. If he said that, then you would hear from me tomorrow. We are not criminals and how can someone be talking of amnesty?”

While pouring encomium on the members of staff of the party who are still being owed backlog of salaries, Adeyeye said that the party would make sure that their outstanding salaries “are paid.”

Earlier, Makarfi, while speaking when some former PDP ministers paid the members of the caretaker committee a courtesy visit, said opposition to the APC government would have died if the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of Sheriff.

Makarfi stated, the “APC is even afraid of holding NEC meeting not to talk of national convention. Maybe, the party is afraid that doing so could lead to its disintegration and that it could scatter.”

He said the PDP leadership would meet on Monday and Tuesday next week where decisions would be reached on when to call a NEC meeting.

Makarfi added that the party would also set up committees to resolve crisis in some states, especially in the South-West.

He promised to engage the sacked national chairman of the party and its group in discussions on how to bring unity into the party.

The former ministers, however, regretted that the crisis in the party would have been avoided if their objection to the appointment of Sheriff had been heeded.

The Chairman of the Former Ministers Forum, who is also a former Minister for Special Duties, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN), who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said the party must not allow the euphoria of the Supreme Court judgment to mislead it.

He said, “If we are now telling Nigerians that we have realised our mistake, we must shed the toga of impunity. We must make sure that things are done in a transparent manner and there must be inclusiveness.”

PDP’ll retake Aso Rock in 2019 –Reps caucus

Also, the PDP caucus in the House of Representatives boasted on Thursday that the party would retake the Presidency from the ruling APC in 2019.

It said the Wednesday’s judgment by the Supreme Court, which resolved the leadership crisis in the PDP, had set the stage for the party to begin full preparations for the 2019 elections.

The members celebrated the court decision at the National Assembly shortly before the start of the day’s plenary.

The jubilant members of the House, who were led by the Minority Leader, Mr. Leo Ogor, described the judgment as a “victory for democracy.”

Speaking for the group at a news conference attended by many of them, Ogor said, “By this turn of events, we can tell you that there is vacancy in Aso Rock.

“We are moving into Aso Rock in 2019. We earlier issued a notice to quit, but now, we can assure Nigerians that in 2019, PDP will move into Aso Rock.”

Ogor added that the members would quickly heal the wounds of the crisis by acknowledging that there was “no victor, no vanquished.”

He said, “For democracy to thrive, there must be virile opposition; the type the PDP will give to confront the inconsistencies of the APC in the past two years.

“For over two years, the APC has only succeeded in taking two steps forward and six steps backward.”

I’m in shock over judgment, says Sheriff

Meanwhile, Sheriff has said he is still in shock over the judgment of the Supreme Court, which removed him from office on Wednesday.

Sheriff said he was still waiting for his lawyers to brief him on the details of the judgment.

His reaction was sent to one of our correspondents on Thursday by his erstwhile deputy, Ojuogboh, and the former spokesperson for his faction, Mr. Bernard Mikko, in Abuja.

Mikko, who signed the statement, said Nigerians should continue to pray for the country.

The three-paragraph statement said, “We received with shock the 12th July judgment of the Supreme Court on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

“We still await the written judgment of the highest court from our lawyers, who will fully brief us on the details of the judgment. In the interim, we ask all members and supporters to remain steadfast in prayers for Nigeria.

“Meanwhile, we continue with our avowed demands that the party must be given back to the owners at the grassroots to always elect their party officials and those to contest elections for them at all levels. Internal democracy must be institutionalised in the party.”

Sheriff was removed by a five-man panel of justices of the Supreme Court, which also recognised the Makarfi-led national caretaker committee as the authentic leadership of the former ruling party.

In a related development, the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, on Thursday, said he would have resigned if Sheriff had won at the Supreme Court.

Jibrin, who expressed joy with the victory of the Makarfi committee, in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday, added that the judgment came at the right time for the party to put its house in order before the next general elections.

“I would have resigned as PDP BoT chairman if Sheriff had won,” he said .

PoliticsThe Case Of Room 39 by boman2014(op): 9:25pm On Jul 13, 2017
A man went into a hotel and asked to see the boss. When the boss came, the story began.

-The client: is room 39 empty?

-The boss: yes, sir.

-The client: can I book it?

-The boss: of course you can.

-The client: thank you.

Before going to the room, the client asked the boss to provide him with a black knife, a white thread 39 cm and an orange 73g.

The boss agreed though he was surprized at the weird things the client asked to have.

The client went into his room, he didn't ask for food or anything else.

Unfortunately for the boss, his room was next to room 39.
After midnight, the boss heard strange voices and noise in that client's room. Voices of wild animals and of utensils and dishes being thrown on the floor.

The boss didn't sleep that night. He kept thinking and wondering what might be the source of the noise.

In the morning, when the client handed the keys to the boss, the latter asked to see the room first.

He went to the room and found everything alright. Nothing unusual. He even found the thread, the black knife and the orange on the table.

The client paid the bill and gave the bellboys a very good tip and left the hotel smiling.

The boss was in a shock but he didn't reveal what he heard to the bellboys. In fact, he started to doubt himself.

After one year, the client showed up again. He asked to see the boss again. The boss was in a puzzle.

The client asked the same things: room 39, black knife, white thread 39cm and an orange 79g.

This time, the boss wanted to know the truth by all means possible. He spent a sleepless night, waiting for something to happen. After midnight, the same voices and noises started, this time louder and more indecipherable than the year before.
Again, before leaving, the client paid his bill and left a large tip on the table for the bellboys. The smile didn't leave his face.

The boss started searching for the meaning of everything the client asked to have. Why did he ask room 39? why the white thread? why the black knife huh In fact, the boss didn't arrive to any convincing answer to all these questions.

The boss now was eagerly waiting for the month of March, the month in which the client showed up.

To his surprise, on the first day of March, the same client showed up. He asked the same questions. Wanted to book the same room, wanted to have the same things as before.

The boss again heard the same noises, this time more louder than before.

In the morning, when the client was leaving the hotel, the boss apologized politely to the client and asked to know the secret behind the noises in the room.

-''If I tell you the secret, do you promise to never reveal it to anyone else?''

-''I promise I will never let anyone know''.

-''Swear''

-''I swear I won't reveal your secret''

So finally, the client revealed his secret to the boss Unfortunately, the boss was a sincere person. Until now he hasn't revealed his secret to anyone. When he does, I will let you know... thank you for reading.
PoliticsWe Will Ensure Nnamdi Kanu Is Declared A Terrorist - Arewa Youth President by boman2014(op): 1:53pm On Jul 08, 2017
Biafra: We’re reviewing our stand on Igbo —Yarima Shettima, Northern Youths leader

Yarima Shettima is the president of the Arewa Youths Coalition that gave Igbo living in the North a three-month quit notice. He spoke with MUHAMMAD SABIU on the recent stand of the South East governors on Biafra and the position of the Arewa youths.

The South East governors have come out to say that they are for restructuring of the country and not the declaration of the State of Biafra. How did you see this development; are we expecting a shift from the coalition, particularly on the quit notice given to the Igbo living in the North?

The steps taken by the governors are commendable. One, we have since expected the governors to do what they are doing now. Nevertheless, it is better late than never. One would have expected that never again would the country be held to ransom by an individual or group of people who will be terrorising the innocent people of this country and at the same time abusing the sensibilities of other sections of the country. Undermining our strength as a nation is uncalled for.
The most painful thing is that this young man (Kanu Nnamdi) happens to be a member of our generation that should have been more positive in thinking, instead of being negative. To us, we felt strongly that this is a suicide to our generation. At a point, we felt if somebody is mad at the negative side, let us be mad at the positive side, so that we can balance the story.
But having said that, what we saw the governors are doing is commendable; what the Ohanaeze and other organisations that came out to denounce the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are doing is commendable. Inasmuch as we appreciate the fact that it is their right to demand for self-determination, we are also saying, if you are asking for self-determination, there are certain procedures to go about it. Inasmuch as we know that Nigeria is part and parcel of that international charter by United Nations and signatory to it, the constitution has equally not made any room for self-determination. We thank God now that they are seeing these things and acting the way they are supposed to do.
We are also reviewing our own situation. We are going to have a meeting soon with other leaders of the coalition and come out with a clear position of things and what we intend to do in order to move forward. But I am not saying we have completely removed the earlier condition, that they should leave the North. However, the fact of the matter still remains that one, we are not violent. Secondly, we intend also to explore all necessary avenues and ensure that, at the end of the day, things are being done in accordance with the law.

But don’t you think that the position of the governors and others like the Ohanaeze will now make IPOB unpopular?

Whatever we will be discussing will centre on the strength of his (Kanu) recent call and see whether it is a popular call or otherwise. So long as what we see in recent times is not a popular call, we must see that this young man, who has terrorised the country, is not left to go unpunished. We will go as far to ensure that we take him to the International Court of Justice. We will internationalise his case and ensure that this young man is declared a terrorist. He can’t be allowed to go just like that because one, he has terrorised the country. Two, as a result of his misguided statements, many had become casualties. To us, we felt strongly that he should be dealt with decisively to serve as a deterrent to other people who think they can just come with their selfish interests and mislead the people.

To us, we are seeing what he was doing as a business venture. So, as far as we are concerned, a country should not be run as a banana republic where somebody can do anything and get away with it, without respect for the rule of law. This is a country we are proud of. We are proud to be Nigerians. We are willing to do everything to ensure that we protect the interest of this country. We are proudly Nigerians. So, if he choses to go, we are not stopping him, but he should go through the normal channel. However, with the current happenings now, to some of us, we felt we are comfortable. So with time, we believe IPOB, MASSOB will all belong to our past.

Don’t you think the Igbo should be allowed to rule in subsequent elections?

We cannot continue to run a country like that. After 50 years, we still repeat the same thing over and over. They are just asking for one thing; you said you want justice and you don’t want to be marginalised. How will you not be marginalised when you gave reasons for Nigerians to be skeptical about you? You said you were not given the Number One seat. Why should people support you with the attitude of some charlatans in your midst? Why should we entrust you with power, when you allowed a charlatan from nowhere to come and disorganise this country? Kanu clearly proved that when he was released on bail; it shows he is not normal. There were over 10 conditions he was given before he was granted bail. He defiled all the conditions and you still see him as a normal person.

So, if you meet him, what are you going to tell him?
We will not leave this issue to go like that. So, we are not also going to do anything that will contradict the laws of the land. We do not intend to go violent. This is because we do not intend to make people suffer because of his antecedents. We will take the fight to him; to his domain by following all constitutional means. He claims he is a British citizen also. We will tell him a British can not come to Nigeria and run our country the way he is running it. We can’t accept that. We will tell him this is our home and we have no better place than here. I believe after this discussion, we will build a country we will all call our own.

How?

We intend to have a national youth progressive movement, where we will decide the type of country we want to have. From there we will take the country to the next level so that at the end of the day, we will not have this kind of rubbish called agitations.

Since the declaration, were you under pressure from prominent citizens, family and friends ?

We have received several calls from so many prominent Nigerians, even outside the shores of the country. People have been calling us. They realised we were pushed to the wall and that was why we took our stand. They still plead that we should not be violent because of the innocent people. We always tell them we do not intend to unleash terror on the people. Some of us have been in the struggle for over 18 years since the late General Sani Abacha era and we were never found wanting or connected to any militant group. But we intend to explore all the constitutional means to ensure we have a honourable exit for them if they want to leave. Remember they never asked for referendum until we introduced it. The Igbo in Northern Nigeria are peace makers. They have proven to be part of us; they have proven they want to stay with us. So, we have no reason to begin to think otherwise.
As for friends, we have a lot of friends across the country, especially from the Eastern part. You see, the moment you have made up your mind on something, you have to damn the consequences. This is about a nation; it is about saving the integrity of the country. To some extent, some of the friends misunderstood us even when I went to the extreme in explaining to them.
In the case of our families, when there was this threat to arrest us, some of us are new in the struggle. But to some of us, our families too knew that at certain times, they could be arrests and put in detention. At the end of the day, we were able to expose Kanu that he is not a popular man after all and that he is not leading the Igbo as a whole. We were able to prove also that he is being surrounded by a few people who are ignorant about the realities of life. I think, with time, these people would realise that he is empty and all alone.

When did you start this struggle?

I started this struggle over 18 years ago. I was part of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) as a young student. I have participated in successful democratic struggles over the years. It is unfortunate that the northern part of the country just got to know me now with the current declaration. They have read about me but it is now they realise the stuff I am made of. But those who know me knew I have been in this kind of struggle for long. My association, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, sometimes brokered peace with some Yoruba group in the South West.

Which particular crisis in the South West are you referring to?

The crisis involved some Yoruba ethnic militia group and the Hausa living in the south western part of the country, around 2001, during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. It happened right from Sagamu in Ogun State to Obalende in Lagos State. There was so much tension then, but my organisation, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, intervened and we brokered peace with the O’dua People’s Congress (OPC) and since then, the northerners living in the South West have been going about their day-to-day without hindrance. So, I did not just join this struggle from the blues.

You claimed to be a member of NADECO, can you mention some of your colleagues in the group?
Some of the prominent people I met in NADECO include Professor Wole Soyinka, Mr Femi Falana and the late Pa Anthony Enahoro, among others. These people made me.

Which school did you attend and what is your philosophy of life?

I attended Lagos State University (LASU) where I obtained a BSc in Public Administration. My philosophy of life is very simple and that is to defend the rights of my people.

Do you have any political ambition?

At the moment, I don’t have any political ambition. For now, I enjoy what I am doing.

recovered.

The order was made on Wednesday, July 4, by Hon Justice Hadiza
Rabiu Shagari after a freedom of information suit number: FHC/
CS/964/2016 brought by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability
Project (SERAP).

Daily Sun reports that joined as defendants in the suit are Alhaji

information relating to the following:

1. To widely disseminate including on a dedicated website
information about the names of high ranking public officials from
whom public funds were recovered since May 2015

2. The circumstances under which stolen public funds were
returned
Timothy Adewale, SERAP deputy director who argued the case on
behalf of SERAP and was in court this morning when the judgment
was delivered said “This is a victory for justice, rule of law,
transparency and accountability in this country.

''The judgment shows the way forward in the fight against
corruption and impunity of perpetrators.

''We will do everything within the law to ensure full compliance by
President Mohammadu Buhari and Acting President Osinbajo with
this landmark judgment.

''It would be recalled that the Ministry of Information last year
published details of the recoveries, which showed that the Nigerian
government successfully retrieved total cash amount

''The ministry also announced that 239 non-cash recoveries were
made during the one-year period.

''The non-cash recoveries are farmlands, plots of land, uncompleted
buildings, completed buildings, vehicles and maritime vessels.
''Subsequently, SERAP was issued an FOI request and gave the
Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed 14 days to disclose
the names of all suspected looters.

The request read in part: “While we believe that suspects generally
are entitled to be presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of
competent jurisdiction, SERAP opposes blanket non-disclosure of
names of high-ranking public officials from whom some of the funds
were recovered.

PoliticsDino Melaye Begs! READ Full Transcript Of What He Told Senators (video) by boman2014(op): 3:50pm On Jul 05, 2017
Senator Dino Melaye has pleaded with his colleagues to stop the
recall process initiated against him by his constituents.

The controversial senator while delivering his appeal accused the
Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello of masterminding the recall
process.

Melaye also accused that even dead bodies signed the recall
registers while some of his legitimate constituents were deceived
into singing the register.

Here is a transcript of what Mr. Melaye told his Senate colleagues:
"Mr President, my colleagues, the election that brought me to office,
the total score of both valid and invalid votes for nine candidates,
Mr. President, is 118,000; but my governor and his appointees in
four days claimed they got a signature of over 188,000. Nowhere in
my constituency did they see to receive people’s signature. They got
INEC data base for registered voters and copied in one writing into
a report register to forge all the signatures.

"Mr. President, as I speak to you, I have over 120 dead certificates
issued by the National Population Commission and these people’s
relations and families have sworn to affidavit and these certificates
have been deposited and as I speak to you, the names of all these
dead people has been submitted in the recall register sent to INEC.

"Mr President, a 116 of my colleagues, my constituents I meant to
say, also have sworn to affidavit that their names and signatures
appeared in the recall register and they were not the ones that
signed it.

"Mr. President, 86 of my constituents have also sworn to affidavit
to state that they were approached that the government want to
carry out a fertilizer empowerment program and requested for their
PVCs and thereby deceived into putting their names on the recall
register. All these affidavits sworn to by these people have been
submitted to INEC and the court.

"Mr. President, I am alerting this chamber on a situation that
whereby a senator or a legislator will call for collective and
enumerative measure in their state. My only sin is that I asked my
governor to pay 17 months salary and pension to workers because
the holy books says a labourer is worthy of wage. I am not going to
belabour us, but they have been spending our money on pages of
newspapers, spending money that they want to recall Dino Melaye.

"The reason for recall is clearly stated is either… (pause) Mr.
President it’s either you have been absent or you have
underperformed or you are a sleeping senator, so for that reason
you may initiate a recall. But this recall is not initiated by my
constituents, it is by my state government and I want to bring the
attention of my colleagues that this orchestration and injustice and
lies of malicious manifestation of my governor should not be
entertained in any democratic setting.

"I want to call on this Senate that this should not be allowed
anywhere and not because it is Dino Melaye, it can be any member
of the House of Assembly tomorrow and House of Representative. It
can be any senator where his governor will just come up and cook
names, signatures, including those of dead bodies and initiate a
recall process because he has our common patrimonial resources
within his disposal. I thank you for listening," he said.

Abuja?
The land of Abuja was the southwestern part of the ancient kingdom
of Zazzau (Zaria). The name "Abuja" was derived from Abu Ja, a
brother to Muhammadu Makau, the last hausa ruler of Zaria. Makau
had left Zaria after being defeated by the Fulani and settled in the
area now known as Abuja. In 1825 his brother Abu Ja succeeded him
as the 62nd King of Zaria. The full name of Abuja was Abubakar
(shortened to "Abu "wink and the name Ja was given to him because he
was light in complexion ("Ja" means red or fair in Hausa). Hence he
became known as "Abu-Ja", "Abu the fair one" (other sources claim
that the name "Ja" was derived fron the last name of his father which
was "Jatau "wink.

AgricultureAfter Exporting Yam, Nigeria Prepares To Export Another Popular Farm Produce by boman2014(op): 11:36am On Jul 05, 2017
- Nigeria is set to export roasted cashew nuts to Japan, as the Minister of Agriculture reveals

- This is coming 5 days after about 72 tonnes of yam were exported to various countries

- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who made this disclosure in Lagos

Once again, the federal government of Nigeria has revealed plans to export another popular farm produce.

According to the announcement, processed yam products and roasted cashew nuts are to be exported to Japan, Britain, the United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU).

Chief Audu Ogbeh, the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, made this disclosure in Lagos, on Tuesday, July 4. He also said the exportation of fresh yam tubers had already started.

He said: “The target markets are millions of Africans, especially Nigerians in the diaspora, who want to buy and eat fresh yam.

“For those who will prefer yam flour and pounded yam, the ministry has identified five companies to process yam tubers into those products.

“We will get the UK certified standards for the exportation of those yam value chains. We will also put in our own checks and balances to ensure that every export meets the set standard.

“This is to ensure that the processed products are not rejected, once
we start to export.

“Nigeria is under great pressure to export roasted cashew nuts to Japan and all categories of beans and sesame seeds, among others, to India.”

PoliticsNnamdi Kanu Speaks On Biafra Deadline, As IPOB Addresses Anambra Election by boman2014(op): 6:37am On Jul 04, 2017
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said that there no is no deadline for the actualization of Biafra.

Kanu has also said that IPOB never declared that there won't be elections in Anambra state.

The pro-Biafra leader stressed that the media is being manipulated by the government.

According to Vanguard, Kanu said the government is using the media to spread false information about him.

The IPOB leader said it was the people of Biafra who said they did not want the November 18, 2017 election in Anambra state and not himself.

Kanu told Sahara Reporters in an interview that the people in power were employing all means to make him lose the support of his people.

He said Nigeria cannot continue to exist only to make the thieves get fatter, hence the media must shed its interest in maintaining one Nigeria.

Kanu further stressed that Nigerians and "Biafrans" alike, must do some fact checking before believing everything they see in the news.

Reacting to the demagogue status he seem to have acquired and claims that he is playing God, spokesman of IPOB, Emma Powerful, alleged that security agencies have perfected plans to disparage its leader by accusing him of allegedly playing God. Powerful said this alleged ploy is in a bid to cause
misunderstanding and confusion between the IPOB leader and Christians in Biafra land.

According to Emma Powerful, Nnamdi Kanu is a Christian and will never challenge the authority of God.

"Those using his name as saviour, messiah and Jesus are misinformed and uneducated because he never asked them to do so," stressed the IPOB spokesman.

In a similar vein, Nnamdi Kanu has lambasted National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He accused Tinubu of bowing out of his once agitation for a national sovereign conference during President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.

The leader of IPOB allegedly said this while speaking when he played host to both foreign and local journalists at his home in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

He said: “There was once agitation for a national sovereign conference. If you listen to Bola Ahmed Tinubu today, you won’t know that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a leading figure asking for sovereign national conference.
Once they get into power, they forget because they are not principled.

“They have no honour, unfortunately, integrity. They tell one thing in the morning and another in the evening.

“Anybody asking you to support one Nigeria doesn’t love you. I f you read history, no one will like to be called one Nigeria.

“Whenever anyone tells you to support one Nigeria, tell the person to tell Prime Minister of Britain to support one EU."
