The weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council will not hold today, August 23. Today's meting would have been the first to be presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari since his return from his medical vacation in the United Kingdom. NAIJ.com gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The statement read, "The meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will not hold today. President Muhammadu Buhari, will however, receive the Report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at 12 noon, in his office.” Buhari has been operating from an office in his residence since Monday while the Presidency claimed that his main office had been destroyed by rodents and needed to be renovated. https://www.naij.com/1121665-breaking-president-buhari-cancels-fec-meeting.html |

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has Wednesday warned that the war against the Boko Haram insurgents is not won and is not over yet. He said more efforts must be put to crush the insurgents finally. Buratai gave the warning while addressing officers and men of the Nigeria Army in Damaturu, Yobe State capital. According to him, “The war has not yet been won and all is not over until it is over. Hence, I congratulate you on the progress made so far but we must do more.” “Let me urge you to partner with other security agents in prosecuting the war and anything less will jeopardise the efforts of the security forces as a whole. “I want to assure you that the highest military hierarchy will continue to give you all the necessary support in the fight,” he said. Meanwhile, Boko Haram terrorist, on Wednesday, attack Adamawa state, killing six person. Many are concerned about the US and also worried about the possibility of airstrikes or just American power and influence, which has risen in recent times. Thirty countries were surveyed by Pew Research Center in 2013 and 2017 to see if US power and influence poses a major threat to their country. Many people also feel threatened by ISIS and climate change, the condition of the global economy, cyberattacks, and refugees from countries like Iraq and Syria. http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/08/01/u-s-power-and-influence-increasingly-seen-as-threat-in-other-countries/ Below is the list:

Imolites, yesterday, described the visit by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a blessing to the people of the state, while some said it caused them unexpected difficulties. Some Pro Biafra supporters who spoke to Vanguard in Owerri, said that a referendum had been conducted going by the crowed that thronged out to welcome their leader. While some motorists said that it was not a savoury experience for them as they were trapped in a hold up for more than eight hours. This was even as some of them told Vanguard that they had to take the decision of spending the rest of the day celebrating the visit of Nnamdi Kanu. Vanguard went further to get the views of street hawkers who said that they had never experience the kind of patronage they had during the visit of IPOB leader. Even those selling Biafra insignias asked Kanu to come for second missionary journey and that his coming brought blessings and food on their table. One of the supporters of Biafra struggle, introduced himself as Chima Mbata, age 28, from Nkwerre Local Government Area, Imo state, said that he got healed of his two days headache after sighting Kanu from the crowd. Iheme said: “I was in the House and my mother called me to come out and see Nnamdi Kanu, at Orlu road roundabout, I told her that I can’t come because I was not feeling fine. “But she insisted, then I managed to come out immediately I saw Kanu, I was healed. I become stronger and joined other young men in the struggle.” Also, speaking to Vanguard, a sachet water seller, who preferred the name, Juliana Ugo, from Ebonyi state, said: ” I made up to 11, 500, I have never realised this type of money before as a pure water seller, to the extent that there was no where you can get pure water. “Some of us who still have it in their stock started selling it for N20 each while some sold a sachet for N30.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/biafra-28-year-old-got-healed-sighting-ipobs-kanu-imo/ |
