Celebrities / Re: Nse Ikpe-Etim: "Don't Expect All Women To Have Children, Be Mothers'' by boringnigerian: 2:20pm On Dec 12, 2018
Tell them!

And tell them again!

Africans and, specifically, Nigerians like to make it look like once you have kids, all your problems are over and you'll be happy forever. They don't even care whether you can take care of those kids and will have time for them. And if you can't, they won't take care of the kids either. Instead, they would call you a bad parsnt and all sorts of names.

In truth, some people's problems and unhappiness start when they have kids and never end till they die.

See, if you want kids and find happiness in kids, have them, as many as you can take care of comfortably. If not, please DO NOT!!!

Besides, those who came up with the Jubrin story say they have incontrovertible proof of the veracity of their reports; proof that they have still not shared with us till today. I mean, how hard can it be? If you can tell us the man occupying the president's seat is not indeed the president, you should as well give us proof so we can believe you. Else if someone else says you are not who say you are, we should believe the person too, since proof can be discarded so easily and deemed unimportant.

While I generally don't want to hold brief for president Buhari, i feel that if we want to be critical of the man, a bit of critical thinking should be applied too.

1) For those wondering how come it is that Buhari returned fit from the UK; is kt impossible for someone to travel for treatment and return well (which was the point of the travel in the first place), especially considering the fact that he had the best medical care there and the time it took him to get treatment and recuperate?

2) For those wonderig why he hasn't fallen sick since then, well, we saw how publicizing the state of his health panned out the last time. Wouldn't it follow that the presidency would be more reticent as regards making news of the president's health public for all subsequent illnesses? Besides, the president has travelled since then, on more than one occasion to the same UK he was hospitalized in. You think he wouldn't have used the opportunity to get medical care and get checkups carried out? Also, the last time the president went on a vacation and left the Vice President in charge, where did he go to? The same UK where he received treatment! How come none of this comes up in this whole Jibrin abi Jubrin matter?

To the prpersob5bringing up the touts issue:

Well, it's not as simple as ordering the touts off the road. Don't think those touts answer to nobody. On the contrary, there is a hierarchy and the touts are the base feeders, the foot soldiers, the ones at the bottom of the pyramid. At the top are important people in Lagos society who are also party men. Party men who, through their touts and wealth, have a lot of local influence. Remove those touts and you are risking your chance and the party's chances at the next elections. You think Fashola didn't want to get rid of the touts? Or Ambode? They did and do but the patrons of these touts are powerful people in Lagos politically. Eradicating them would take a fool-proof plan, and if you have one, we'd all like to hear it.

Do you honestly think Kwese is keeping up with DSTV or isn't it just hanging on like the last days of HiTV?

Guys, face it.

Your country kills businesses! Especially Nigerian-owned businesses. Why do you think most of the successful businesses in Nigeria are multinationals? You conceive of an idea but, before you can execute, you have to settle one Ganduje somewhere and all his cronies to even think of starting out. With that, what do you have left to start your business?

Even if you manage to start off, goodness of graciousness, everyone wants their chunk of flesh. From area boys and omoniles to government tax services to SON to NAFDAC (depending on if it's goods and what type or services you offer) to even immigration and customs. By the time you are done, you are not even left with nothing, you are left with less than nothing! Business owners in Nigeria don't catch a single friggin break. It would even be better if all the money you pay was being put to good use but no - you pay DISCOS yet you still have to keep and regularly use (and fuel) generators, you pay taxes but still have to employ security and even buy CCTV to monitor your premises AND the security men you hire.

And people wonder why Nigeria is not a prime destination for bigger multinationals?

Forget your market and your population. Running a business here is not worth it for most business people, else the likes of Amazon and Walmart would have opened outlets here eons ago.

Nope. People like you literally force them into marriages they don't want to make yourselves happy. Compare the instances of gay people marrying the opposite sex in countries where being gay is not outlawed to countries where it is and you should have your answer.

Did they invite him over because he is gay or because he has something to offer them in masterclass?
Being gay doesn't stop anyone from being useful to themselves and their society.
Bisi Alimi if all you have to offer anyone is your sexuality, nobody cares. Nobody needs it. However, if you're an entrepreneur who has built an empire and carved a niche for yourself, then you are worth listening to in masterclass

Bisi's points, in case most of you missed it, are:

1) Nigerians claim to hate gays but would gladly flock to take pictures with a rich and famous gay person. Meanwhile, if you are poor, no matter how good you are at what you do, Nigerians would castigate and victimize you for your sexuality. That is the height of hypocrisy.

2) There are gay people in the Nigerian fashion industry that GTB would not give the spotlight to. I understand that they are a business and as a business, they have to do what would be most profitable for themselves. Still sucks tho.

I guess people would read meaning based on their personalities.

Pessimists would take it to mean it would never happen or it's impossible.

Optimists would see it as meaning it won't be easy and it won't come by just saying it. If you want it, you would have to work for it.

Which are you?

Thank you ooh, thou I am a Buhari supporter I can neven defend this their weak reply.

The video was not doctored however it is not clear the form of transaction ongoing since there is no audio discussion of bribe activity to accompany the video or any text communication between the giver /receiver of the bribe to confirm this ; however the moral onus is on Ganduje to explain what the transaction he was seen engaging in was about and support it with adequate proof if indeed it was legitimate otherwise one can only conclude it is bribe as proposed by the newspaper

What is however clear to the world is that Ganduje received some amount of money and he put the said bundles in his babariga

But what kind of legit transaction is a governor conducting that requires handling such a sum in cash? When he's not a trader

You know that word "doctored" is never far from the lips of Special Assistants on Media and Commissioners of Information.

I could literally think of better lies to tell.

Like, do the people in government think all of us don't have brains when they lie to us? I mean, sure, a large chunk of Nigerians can do with a mental and intellectual upgrade but sorry Nigerian government, some of us see right through you.

....nor wot I said..if u know the road well,u will agree that the road is far much motorable than hundreds of death trap roads across the country, which APC is neglecting

Let that be problem of the Federal Government when that road is in it's jurisdiction and the state governments when it is in theirs. Right now we are talking about Lagos state fixing a very important road that has been deplorable for a very long time.

Just pure waste of state resources, Fashola got approval to fix the road but Ambogone refused and instead used state funds gotten from international loans to do the construction all because he wants to amass money from the project.
After this elegant construction, what of the mess he's doing on Abeokuta express way, how will it fit into this network. There are more pressing priorities for a state like Lagos than fixing an airport road. Imagine the economic and development impact that would accrue to the state if he had continued with Badagry road.

Just see how the iyana iba igando isheri area opened up because of the dualisation of the road. That's the kind of construction Lagos needs not the reduction of existing expressway by half all because of some stupid metro bus lane.

Same thing you guys said when the BRT LANE was being constructed on the Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams Avenue corridor. Now you guys are also the most commited BRT users.

That's my problem with ambode.

If you ask me, this project is more important than the badagry one in the short and long term. For most people entering Nigeria, this is the first point of entry to the country and I always wondered why it looked so decrepit. By the way, both Fashola and Tinubu requested to execute this project but the Federal Government (who the road belongs to) refused (party differences). The Badagry project, while important, is lower on the scale of preference. This makes economic and logical sense.

Abeg abeg, hold it. Always blaming the victim. So because of robbers, banks should not receive money? What kind of nonsense mentality us that. Isn't it their fellow men that see even more scantily clad ladies and wakapass without a second thought? A rapist will rape, if you like, wear hijab on niqab on wedding gown. bilms:

The difference between running a business and running a country is very simple. Politics. That's the only difference.

Government is not obsessed with making profit, business is.

Fortunately for us, Olawepo Hashim is not only a business man, he his a democratic symbol of global standing.

Starting as a student union leader who led Anti Sap protest against military government in 1989, he has equipped himself with the required foundational leadership skills. He rose to become one of the founders of committee for defence of human rights in early 90's. Then was part of the g34 that fought for the return of democracy in 1999. He was part those few patriots who put governance ahead of politics.

So, this is a competent hand to lead Nigeria to success.

Being a union leader does not translate to being a good head of state or government.

Fixing an economy is not miracle. It is done with knowledge and understanding. That is what Olawepo Hashim is bringing to the table.

As a successful global business man, he has all it takes to deliver as promised

Running a business and running a country may look similar but they're quite different.....else Dangote should be our president.
