Celebrities / Re: Nse Ikpe-Etim: "Don't Expect All Women To Have Children, Be Mothers'' by boringnigerian: 2:20pm On Dec 12, 2018 |
Tell them! And tell them again! Africans and, specifically, Nigerians like to make it look like once you have kids, all your problems are over and you'll be happy forever. They don't even care whether you can take care of those kids and will have time for them. And if you can't, they won't take care of the kids either. Instead, they would call you a bad parsnt and all sorts of names. In truth, some people's problems and unhappiness start when they have kids and never end till they die. See, if you want kids and find happiness in kids, have them, as many as you can take care of comfortably. If not, please DO NOT!!! 17 Likes |

Besides, those who came up with the Jubrin story say they have incontrovertible proof of the veracity of their reports; proof that they have still not shared with us till today. I mean, how hard can it be? If you can tell us the man occupying the president's seat is not indeed the president, you should as well give us proof so we can believe you. Else if someone else says you are not who say you are, we should believe the person too, since proof can be discarded so easily and deemed unimportant. 1 Like |

While I generally don't want to hold brief for president Buhari, i feel that if we want to be critical of the man, a bit of critical thinking should be applied too. 1) For those wondering how come it is that Buhari returned fit from the UK; is kt impossible for someone to travel for treatment and return well (which was the point of the travel in the first place), especially considering the fact that he had the best medical care there and the time it took him to get treatment and recuperate? 2) For those wonderig why he hasn't fallen sick since then, well, we saw how publicizing the state of his health panned out the last time. Wouldn't it follow that the presidency would be more reticent as regards making news of the president's health public for all subsequent illnesses? Besides, the president has travelled since then, on more than one occasion to the same UK he was hospitalized in. You think he wouldn't have used the opportunity to get medical care and get checkups carried out? Also, the last time the president went on a vacation and left the Vice President in charge, where did he go to? The same UK where he received treatment! How come none of this comes up in this whole Jibrin abi Jubrin matter? |

To the prpersob5bringing up the touts issue: Well, it's not as simple as ordering the touts off the road. Don't think those touts answer to nobody. On the contrary, there is a hierarchy and the touts are the base feeders, the foot soldiers, the ones at the bottom of the pyramid. At the top are important people in Lagos society who are also party men. Party men who, through their touts and wealth, have a lot of local influence. Remove those touts and you are risking your chance and the party's chances at the next elections. You think Fashola didn't want to get rid of the touts? Or Ambode? They did and do but the patrons of these touts are powerful people in Lagos politically. Eradicating them would take a fool-proof plan, and if you have one, we'd all like to hear it. |

Guys, face it. Your country kills businesses! Especially Nigerian-owned businesses. Why do you think most of the successful businesses in Nigeria are multinationals? You conceive of an idea but, before you can execute, you have to settle one Ganduje somewhere and all his cronies to even think of starting out. With that, what do you have left to start your business? Even if you manage to start off, goodness of graciousness, everyone wants their chunk of flesh. From area boys and omoniles to government tax services to SON to NAFDAC (depending on if it's goods and what type or services you offer) to even immigration and customs. By the time you are done, you are not even left with nothing, you are left with less than nothing! Business owners in Nigeria don't catch a single friggin break. It would even be better if all the money you pay was being put to good use but no - you pay DISCOS yet you still have to keep and regularly use (and fuel) generators, you pay taxes but still have to employ security and even buy CCTV to monitor your premises AND the security men you hire. And people wonder why Nigeria is not a prime destination for bigger multinationals? Forget your market and your population. Running a business here is not worth it for most business people, else the likes of Amazon and Walmart would have opened outlets here eons ago. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

eyinjuege: Bisi's points, in case most of you missed it, are: 1) Nigerians claim to hate gays but would gladly flock to take pictures with a rich and famous gay person. Meanwhile, if you are poor, no matter how good you are at what you do, Nigerians would castigate and victimize you for your sexuality. That is the height of hypocrisy. 2) There are gay people in the Nigerian fashion industry that GTB would not give the spotlight to. I understand that they are a business and as a business, they have to do what would be most profitable for themselves. Still sucks tho. 4 Likes |

I guess people would read meaning based on their personalities. Pessimists would take it to mean it would never happen or it's impossible. Optimists would see it as meaning it won't be easy and it won't come by just saying it. If you want it, you would have to work for it. Which are you? 1 Like |

You know that word "doctored" is never far from the lips of Special Assistants on Media and Commissioners of Information. I could literally think of better lies to tell. Like, do the people in government think all of us don't have brains when they lie to us? I mean, sure, a large chunk of Nigerians can do with a mental and intellectual upgrade but sorry Nigerian government, some of us see right through you. 1 Like |

yusufobinna1: If you ask me, this project is more important than the badagry one in the short and long term. For most people entering Nigeria, this is the first point of entry to the country and I always wondered why it looked so decrepit. By the way, both Fashola and Tinubu requested to execute this project but the Federal Government (who the road belongs to) refused (party differences). The Badagry project, while important, is lower on the scale of preference. This makes economic and logical sense. |

And the misogynist are already having an aneurysm, despite not understanding a line of what she said 1) Being a feminist does not equal being anti-marriage so those of you asking why she is married might need to consult a dictionary. 2) It seems like some of you guys are just bitter that she's successful and has international repute and keeps getting more successes each day while y'all are stuck in dead-end jobs with no chance of becoming a tenth as successful as she is. It also seems y'all are bitter that she's making it more difficult for you to manipulate and take advantage of ladies. Sorry ehn. 3 Likes |
