xangerar: Sure you are right, none of my guesses could have portrayed him in good light, if correct. But remember I said those were guesses I made since I, in the light of my previous knowledge of his ability could not have in good faith gone with the popular online news narrative, which was that he could not express himself in English and was not qualified to be the IGP.
About giving rousing speeches extempore, we are not all gifted alike. The likes of Babatunde Raji Fashola, Wole Soyinka, John Nnia Nwodo etc are in a class of their own. Well, if you're not good at giving speeches, don't give em. Instead of embarrassing yourself, the police (not that they need embarassing, they manage that very well) and the country. |

xangerar: Sure, having listened to the IG in the past, it is certain mischevious if I ever believe that video characterised him. It is either fake or the man just had a bad day. The worst I ever thought was that he was ill prepared or tipsy but not more. None of the above paints him in a good light. Haven't you heard of people whose speeches went completely missing and they still gave rousing speeches regardless. And if he was tipsy, really? Should the IGP be tipsy and giving speeches on national TV? |

Rotjijatau: I Want The Public To Take This Piece Into Cognizance Regarding The IG Of Police's Speech Blunder
1. The speech in question was doctored
2. Even if it was not doctored, nobody is above mistake
3. If you have been following The IG's trail or watched him speak before, you'll know that he's intelligent & grammatically fluent.
4. People were complaining why he was promoted from a commissioner of police straight to an IG of police instead of following protocol. Well, that is GRACE at work...... Grace disqualifies the qualified in order to qualify the unqualified. God doesn't follow protocol when he wants to promote you.
5. If we channel the intellectual flexibility (making T-Shirts of Transmission & videos just to mock him) into more productive things, we would have been richer than we are.
6. The difference between Nigerians & Americans is, while they channel their brain to more productive things, we are busy using ours to trend someone's mistake. Eziokwu. Pastor bajinotu. Pastor grace at work. Ese gan At this rate, let us just scrap all schools and let "grace" give us our medical doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. Since being qualified is now a pointless venture in God's book. |

Bunch of lazy kids... Lol, no man would maltreat a woman that calls him king or lord? It's like you were born yesterday. As someone pointed out on the thread, respect is in actions, not words. She can call you king, lord and ancient of days and still sleep with all your friends. Meanwhile, you'll be carrying swollen head upandan because she calls you king. He can call you queen and still sleep with the househelp and get her pregnant. Abeg forget all these irrelevancies. If we have had a "useless" name in the place of APC but get good leadership, peace, love and progress etc, we would not have been complaining. A party is also a brand. You can't sell something like that and expect to be taken seriously even if your ideology and message are solid. The first thing your party would be judged by is the name and this one sounds like one of those countless mushroom churches littering Lagos. |

LaudableXX: Guy, if Visionscape is allowed to continue with its operations in Lagos for another 6 months, Lagos will become a cesspit. Yes, the PSPs were not perfect, but at least they managed to get the job done, to a certain degree. Ambode and his men should have fine-tuned the activities of the PSP operators, to improve their efficiency and efficacy. By bringing Visionscape on board, he has taken the whole waste disposal process 7 steps backwards, in a totally retrogressive move!
When something is not working, you do not choose a solution that will worsen the problem! All solutions have teething problems so you can't expect Visionscape to get it right off the bat. Give it a bit of time. |

Christianity Etc › Re: You Can’t Distribute Condoms In School – Catholic Bishops by boringnigerian: 7:26pm On Feb 23, 2018 |
The Bishops should know better than this. Whether they share condoms or not, people would still have indiscriminate sex. Truth is, no matter how much sex education you conduct, you cannot eradicate premarital and extramarital sex. Best you can do is promote protection - to prevent the spread of STDs and a spike in the number of unwanted babies. It's easy to go talk a good game about abstinence but when push comes to shove, e gonna happen. Why not just get them to protect themselves in case they can't keep themselves? |

Romance › Re: I Have Contemplated Suicide Because Of My Sexual Orientation by boringnigerian: 10:46am On Feb 19, 2018 |
Doctormarrvin: lol,i got what I posted from a scientific journal bro. I never said being gay is an illness,i only said its a deviation from normalcy hence the "abnormal" tag. Okay I'm going to stop using the word "cure" cos I think it's the cause of the argument but certainly I know for sure that there are independent researchers looking for a way to "change" homosexual individuals,i can still post the link to the journal if you want. And FYI the researchers are never lacking in homosexual test subjects. Lmao@A cure for being straight. Of course anybody can do anything and call it scientific but until it is peer-reviewed and accepted by the International science community, the person is just shooting personal shots. That's why I asked for links to something in a scientific journal of international pursuit. Besides, finding a way to change people's sexual orientation is not an indictment of their sexual orientation. I mean, they found a way to change people's sexual assignment - does that mean their previous sex was bad? Some people are just not happy with who they are and would prefer to be different and science would always look for a solution for them, even if some gay gene is discovered tomorrow. Lol, the cure for being straight just highlights my point. |

Romance › Re: I Have Contemplated Suicide Because Of My Sexual Orientation by boringnigerian: 7:28pm On Feb 18, 2018 |
escodotman: What do you mean ''straight''... Oh you mean being 'normal' right? Ok, I chose to be straight because it is natural and the very normal thing to do. I chose not to be developing 'feelings' for my fellow man no matter how handsome he is, I chose not be 'sleeping' with my fellow man because they don't have the opposite sex's genitals. So yes, being 'staright' is psychological, inborn, natural and the normal thing to do as humans. Oh, you chose to be straight? When? Give us a specific date |
Romance › Re: I Have Contemplated Suicide Because Of My Sexual Orientation by boringnigerian: 5:33pm On Feb 18, 2018 |
escodotman: I don't still understand you, are you trying to categorise homosexuality as either anatomical, physiological or a genetic problem or all of the above? Which of them do you think homosexuality belong to? It is irrelevant asking me who invented homosexuality, is it a scientific discovery? So far it's been in existence even before Jesus came to the world, so also, armed robbery, fornication, murder and so on, doesn't make any of them natural at all. To me, it is all psychological; you contemplate them and/or the thoughts cross your mind and/or you get tempted to do any of them but it is now left to you to choose whether to ignore those thoughts or follow suit. It has nothing to do with genetic or anatomy. Is being straight psychological? At what point in your life did you choose to be straight? |
Romance › Re: I Have Contemplated Suicide Because Of My Sexual Orientation by boringnigerian: 5:32pm On Feb 18, 2018 |
Doctormarrvin: Some scientists might have accepted homosexuality as one of the many enigmas of nature but trust me,some scientists did,not all. I've copied some proofs from the net as I can't copy all so you can request for the link if you're interested in reading more about it. "Biomedical Treatments of Homosexuality Storm clouds are growing in the treatment literature. Although it may seem that the battle over the diagnoses and treatment of homosexuality is over, that is an illusion. A new threat to gay people has arisen resulting from the work of biomedical research in the United States and Germany. These researchers have introduced a whole range of theories and treatments that can be used either to prevent the development of homosexuality or to eliminate it in adults. Three techniques for identifying the cause of, and then eliminating, homosexuality has been described: surgical techniques, use of hormones, and prenatal research. Each derives from the belief that biology is destiny." This shows effort were been made to cure it and some researchers are still actively interested in finding a cure. Lmao, dude you're reading what you want from sources you want. Quote me anywhere - there's no such thing as a cure to homosexuality. So what if I said there is a cure for being straight? If you can link to just one peer reviewed paper in a reputed scientific journal that states that homosexuality is an illness that needs a cure, this discussion would be over. |
