The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Kano has registered over 5 million eligible voters that would cast their votes, in the 2019 General Elections.

In a statement signed by the Commission’s spokesman, Alhaji Garba Lawal Muhammad and made available to reporters on Tuesday ,said, during the recently concluded , Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) “540, 792” newly registered voters were captured, in Kano.

“The results of the successful conduct of the Continuous Voters Registration(CVR) and Distribution of the Permanent Voters Card,(PVC) is as follows, total CVR 540, 792, total transfer 11,504, PVC collected 56, 405, total of uncollected PVC’s 517, 927.”

Garba noted that, the concluded exercise also recorded 46, 258 cases that comprises of loss of voters card, defaced cards and applicants, who had approached the commission for corrections to be carried out on their voters cards.

According to him, “Total number of voters in Kano, including the 2015 registered voters stands at 5,535,703. This figure may change, after consolidation of data and AFIS.”

He said that, security agencies played an apparent role that ensures the hitch free PVC collection and CVR exercise in the state.

Garba assured the people of Kano, that the commission is committed toward the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.

“We also want to call on all those who registered in 2011, 2014, and 2017 and have not collected their PVC, to visit INEC Local Government Offices statewide to collect their PVC.” Garba stated.

He further stated that, residents who were captured during the 2018 registration exercise would be issued with their Permanent Voters Cards, PVC, prior to the staging of the 2019 General Elections

It doesn't eat rice,beans,yam,egg,etc. It doesn't eat its own canned food, or its own dry food, It drinks only milk,I mean ONLY PEAK MILK and Golden Morn, i buy the 900g average size and it finishes in 4days

Now, it destroys anything inside the house, from my PS4 Pad to the remote control, from all my socks to my boxers in the room

I kept her out in a cage and it ate the wood while crying mostly at night and you have no option to bring it inside(and d destruction continues)

She barks at will, she barks when happy, it barks when sad, it barks when hungry, infact if it wants to poopoo or fart it will bark

She chases anything without fear, Including me the owner ( On one fateful night i was drunk)

The yeye dog is only 2months, i wonder what will become of it when she's about 9month old

NB: It has once attempted to swallow my car key and it peed directly inside the cup of my last liquor i was sipping at home around 11PM

The former Governor of Delta State, Chief James O. Ibori has debunked the statement credit to him by Daily Post in her publications titled “PDP sent me to jail, APC released me’ – Ibori plans defection”.

In a response to a text message sent to Chief Ibori’s spokesperson, Tony Eluemunor, by Swift Reporters he said,, “Did APC release him? That’s a proof that that phrase could never have come from Ibori”.

It will be recalled that Daily Post said a sources close to Chief James Ibori , a two-time former governor of Delta State hinted that all was now set for him to dump PDP for APC in the next few days, as a source who did not want to be mentioned in the print, quoted Ibori as saying: “PDP send me to jail, APC released me. We are taking steps very soon”.

Newly-wedded media practitioner, Theo Ukpaa, who has just been relieved of his job as head of programmes at Linda Ikeji TV, following a rape allegation, has said he will only react after his honeymoon.

Theo Ukpaa was accused by a presenter, Emilia Samuel, of raping her while she was just 16 years.

Sharing the story on Instagram, Emilia, who is now married with two children, alleged that Ukpaa raped and deflowered her when she was 16-year-old.

According to her, she met him when she took part in a modelling competition held by an entertainment media outfit.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Ukpaa admitted that he was aware of the rape allegation but was not ready to speak about it until he returned from his honeymoon

He stated:

“I am aware of the rape allegation. I am on my honeymoon right now; I will be back to the country next week. My legal team is on the matter. When I come into town, we can have a chat.”

Reacting to the development also, Linda Ikeji sacked Ukpaa while he was still on honeymoon. The blogger said she terminated his appointment on Monday, August 27, after reading Samuel’s story.

Ukpaa also insisted that he would react to his sacking after his honeymoon

A man jailed for armed robbery in 1999 is seeking nearly $1million in compensation after police found the real criminal who only has close resemblance with the innocent man.

Metro UK reports that Richard Jones, from Kansas City, was released last year after a judge called into question his original conviction. He had spent 17 years in prison because an eyewitness said he was the robber.

Interestingly, other inmates repeatedly told him he looked like a criminal named Ricky Amos while he was in jail.

Jones lives on the other side of Kansas while his lookalike lived near where the robbery took place. It later turned out there was no DNA or fingerprint evidence linking Jones to the crime.

He has now filed a petition seeking $1million in compensation from the state of Kansas.

His lawyer, Richard Ainsworth, is hoping that he will get a certificate of innocence and be compensated so he could finally move on with his life.

Jones said he missed seeing his 24-year-old and 19-year-old daughters grow up.

He said:

‘It took a big chunk of my life that I can never get back. I am just trying to get stable in my everyday life. I am still transitioning.’

‘At that time, I was pretty much trying to be responsible as a father.

‘I was not perfect, but I was a big part of their lives, and when I got incarcerated, it was hard for me because I was used to being around for my kids.’

‘It was a hard pill to swallow.’

The petition reads:

‘This compensation is relatively small given the unfathomable hardship of 17 years of wrongful imprisonment.’

Mr Jones’ lawyer, Richard Ainsworth, said they were hoping to get a certificate of innocence and for compensation so he could finally move on with his life.

The 42-year-old had previously tried to appeal his case several times but was unsuccessful.

But after hearing about a man who looked just like him, and even had the same first name, he contacted the Midwest Innocent Project, which provides legal services to people who have been wrongly-convicted.

Another lawyer working on Mr Jones’ case said:

‘We were floored by how much they looked alike. Everybody has a doppelgänger, luckily we found his.’
