PoliticsRe: Audio Of $3M Conversation Between Lawan & Otedola (Part 2) by brabus(m):
PeeDaVinci: dude, don't be fooled by me the way I was fooled by lawan's probe - read between the lines

- why would otedola come out to the open one month after the removal of his name from the subsidy report
- why would otedola feel threatened by lawan to pay bribe if he is innocent since lawan's report will anyway, recommend that they be prosecuted, and he can prove his innocence in court
- if it was a sting operation jointly planned with SSS, why didn't the SSS arrest Lawan immediately he collected the money or immediately he moved the motion to absolve otedola in the house
- how on earth would you think SSS will provide a 600,000 marked dollars, and would wait one month before making any attempt to collect back the money (just to show you that the money is from otedola, and i am sure nobody)
- if it is a sting operation, the SSS and not otedola will be dealing with the police. but funny enough, the contrary is the case

i tell you , farouk should be shot, and otedola locked up for many many years
Thinking mode activated. Wondering what I'm think?

How do I convince a fool? But I think all the answer to your questions are already provided by you. If only you can think straight.

Let me educate you once again.

1. The bribe was paid for a reason which Otedola must wait for its full implementation before the crackdown. It wasn't enough for Otedola to claim Farouk demanded bribe from him. A sane person would ask 'For what?'
And the answer would be to exonerate Otedola, to delist him which your silly man did after receiving the bribe. Had it been that Otedola paid Farouk after removing Zenon Oil from the list, the case would have been different.

So, ask yourself? Will Farouk had requested that Zenon Oil (Otedola's company) be removed from the list if there was a crackdown?
Will you have believed the story if Farouk hadn't request on the floor of the House that Zenon Oil be removed from the list? Why? Was that also scripted or doctored?

2. You think $600k is a lot of money. That's just NGN98m »» about 1000 bails of N1000 notes. If he's paying in $100 bills, that's just 60 bails.
You think that's too much for SSS to provide. You see why its so hard to convince you.

3. The case is between Otedola and Farouk and not SSS vs Farouk. That explains the reason why Otedola simply decided to deal with the culprit and not the committee.

4. You ask why Otedola feel threatened if he wasn't guilty. Hmm!
I know your type, you can also ask a kidnapped person why he decided to pay a ransom when he knew he wasn't guilty. You definitely need to research more on what a Sting Operation is.

Bros, I'm done with you. You sound like Facrook himself tonguetonguetonguetongue
PoliticsRe: Audio Of $3M Conversation Between Lawan & Otedola (Part 2) by brabus(m): 9:31am On Jul 04, 2012
PeeDaVinci: both otedola and farouk shold be locked up.
given the information in the public domain at the moment, this is what i believe to be the sequence of events that took place :

- otedola stole some oil subsidy money from FG (this is probably not based on his unsubsidized diesel imports )
- farouk implicated otedola in their initial oil subsidy report
- either farouk demanded for bribe or otedola initiated the move to pay bribe and 3 million dollar amount was agreed on
- otedola never wanted to pay the full 3 million from outset, and set out to record their transaction/meetings
- farouk collected part payment (bills whose numbers are known), settled the necessary lawmakers and then removed otedola's name
- farouk then demanded for the balance, and otedola was playing him and maybe later told him he would not pay him
- farouk threatened to re-include otedola's name in the report
- otedola went to the SSS friend to help him deal with lawan, providing them with his recordings, and he was fast enough to make the first move by releasing the bribery info into public domain
- otedola doctored/removed some of his recordings to make himself appear innocent and goes to the court of public sympathy which is ripened with hatred for the lawmakers
- police knows that to sucessfully prosecute lawan, they have to prosecute otedola too and they do not want to do tha
How old are you sir? On what ground do you prosecute Otedola. What are your facts?

Your baseless accusations

- He doctored/removed some of his recordings to make himself...
- He went to SSS to help him deal with Farouk...
- Otedola stole some of subsidy ...

Let me educate you here. Not all crimes leave easy trails of evidence behind.

Prostitution or bribery, for instance, is nearly
impossible to prove without direct evidence of
money being exchanged for sexual services or whatsoever.
The only way Otedola can prove his innocence is to setup a sting operation into the situation. He did all that is required of him:

- Informed the SSS
- Obtained marked money to pay Farouk
- Setup surveillance system to record the transactions. And decided to pay the sum instalmentally. Why do think a man like Otedola decided to pay just N98m instalmentally?
- Recorded voluminous audios and videos to support his claim.
- Was first to report the issue to the public
- Provided evidences
- Requested for public hearing on the issue.

Tell me what Farouk has done to prove his innocence. You were quick to mention Farouk was entrapped, but let it be known that the said money was not paid at once. It was paid instalmentally.

It would seem to many Nigerians that Walmart business model will benefit the country because of the amount of people they can employ and cheaper bargain. However, the disadvantages are many more when local businesses around begin to lose it.

But the question is, Can Walmart succeed in Nigeria?

Sting Operations

Police can use deception with the aid of a surveillance system to catch an offender in the act. This is because, when it comes to prosecution, it will be necessary to demonstrate that the offender was not entrapped into committing the crime. For example, an undercover agent can disguise as a drug dealer to catch a 'drug baron' in the act.

An informer or undercover agent must wear a wire to record conversations, to bug the meeting place, and or conduct phone taps.

Modern sting operations, especially of complex bribery cases, must be accompanied by voluminous videotaped records of transactions and
conversations, made by miniature cameras the informer or undercover agent wears. These videos of offenders actually “caught in the act” must be tendered as evidences in the courtroom to gain conviction.

Don't be surprised o! I'm sure there are more videos, audios and even documents to support Otedola's claim.

Farouk is a thief. A foolish one for that matter.

Mandelaguy: We should just wait and see,2015 is still afar off. By 2014,bring up this post again, then,we shall affirmatively speak.
How far off is 2015? Its just 2 years and 11 months away. Political parties had 131 days to campaign before these elections.

Building up excitement about candidate(s) years or months before an election, so that they can be known is not the same as endorsing a candidate. And you'll agree with me that whosoever will get a nomination and a chance to win the presidential election must get out there at least good three years before the election they plan to run in and not just 6 months before the race.

Otherwise, history will keep repeating itself. We'll keep installing the people who had tagged themselves as the 'ruling class' or the 'anointed ones'

My thought!
PoliticsRe: Who Should Be Nigeria's Presidential Candidate In 2015? by brabus(op): 2:31pm On Jul 03, 2012
All the potential candidate for President in 2015 has a long list of pros and cons. In most cases, the pros outweigh the cons, but there are a few such candidates for whom it's the other way around.

And even among those where the "pros
outweigh the cons," the margin is narrow enough to give me that "GEJ feeling" again - a candidate that people voted for solely because we had no better alternative.

I'll vote Fashola if he declare his ambition for good policies and good governance. Fashola's pros far outweigh the cons

Thanks etchel. This thread is meant to carefully evaluate designs of webmasters and also provide constructive criticism to help them improve the quality of their work and better serve their audience.

We weren’t really looking at the negatives, but we are focusing on what's wrong with a design and what could be improved — which, to some degree, makes sense.

I expect all contributors on this thread to take a thorough look at the websites submitted and provide their contribution on what’s working on the site and what might turn the customers away.

gistcrunch: STILL WORKING ON IT THOUGH. Need to leave the free host and free domain, buy a domain name and hsot it premium. Doing that this week, buying a new theme or template and some plugins to complete it, meanwhile it's on better testing.

Regards Fellow Corp members,

In the light of given enough attention to how corpers relate, we had to go extra mile to create a social networking website were all corpers from different states can meet, create groups and circles for their camps and places of primary assignment, so that even when they are disbanded from camp and scattered to different places of primary assignment they can stick together on a social networking site dedicated to NYSC Corp members. So on my own I came up with NYSCconnections the website is www.nyscconnections.wall.fm i.e www(dot)nyscconnections(dot)wall(dot)fm let's visit it, join, tell your friends and together let's crowdfund* and crowdpromote Naija's first social networking website that works exactly like facebook strictly dedicated to both new and ex-corpers. Has features like FORUM, you can upload videos and pictures, share links, discuss your experiences and make new friends from different camps in the 36 states of the federation.

Our needs:

*Crowdfund can be as little as 1000naira and we'd recognize you by metioning you on twitter, we're creating a Thank you page to list all the names of those that participated in helping the project fly. Either through financial support, referals, promotions, tech support, data support, ideas and criticism, marketing, sponsorship or endorsements. Contributions will be appreciated based on level of contribution and participation, ranging from gift and thank you letters, emails, post card, branded T-shirts with signature up to partnership rights depending on how much contributed.

We need support for the following:
Crowdfund and CrowdPromotion for--

A proper domain name (a www.sitename.com)

A premium hosting server

Purchase more plugins to enhance and make the social networking experience an enjoyable one.

A physical office with 24 hours internet facility where we can operate from, updating, improving and working on the project to achieve its main aim.

1000 members to carry out beta testing of the project, to criticise and advice on improvements.

Web developers, programmers and designers.

Online social media promoters to help promote the project.

We also need contacts of each of the CAMP PRO officers handling the Corpers Broadcasting Services, Contacts of every CLO in each place of primary assignment.

Contact info of each camp director.
........................................................................................

Note: that it is totally free to use the site and we need to make this project a reality.

If you find this appealing and you would love to support the project in anyway or contribute either in kind or in money or through marketing and promotions, please contact the admin who single handedly structured out this website on 08039093482. *crowdfund- is the process of raising fund informally to support a project or cause or SME and help it raise finances to actively stand firm and achieve its aim.

Thanks,
Visit: www.nyscconnections.wall.fm and let's run a beta test.. Let's take all the action there. Let's make this work and stay.

@ ajuwaya, please read my last post.

Can't say much on this as its still a work in progress.

Here are few points to take note:

Make the registration process simple.

A new user should be able to join the community by using a “Login with Facebook” button (since most of your target audience are on Facebook). The form should ask for their first and last name, gender, date of birth, email address and password.

Yeah! Captcha code that was included in your the registration process before submitting the form - that's fine!

Users should be able to update their profile and start adding friends afterwards.

Introduce Nice Features

- Profiles customization with unique colors and images
- Photo albums - give users a place to organize and share images
- Social games/circles - give users a way to interact online in groups or cliches.

Clean Up Your Home

I can see that you're working hard on building a nice website and putting up great information for everyone to see but squeezing everything you can on the wall can't get you the deserved result.

Tagline/Slogan/Catchy Phrase

What's this? Take a good look at your home-page - can you summarize it in few words?
Whenever I visit a site, I want to get the basic gist of the home-page in just a few moments.

Your website should:

1. Motivate people to check back.
2. Describe what is special about you or your business.
3. Capture people’s attention.
4. Be Different.

Don't give your audience work to do. They just want to be entertained and informed by you and your site.

You should be able to convince a girl on your first date as a second date is most unlikely.

Chinom: First of all the poster is just looking to sell more properties. He is an agent. Here is my advice; If you do not intend to relocate to Naija permenently, do not build any house. Stay in hotels or just rent a mini-flat. If you intend to build, then pack all the money in the bank, wait till you're able to return to Nigeria and then start construction while being physically there. Building a house by proxy in Nigeria is a very risky business.
Home ownership by proxy is not for all. The only thing I know is whenever you come visiting, you'll either stay in an hotel or house that was built by someone (who could either be your friend, your siblings, or even your enemies,)

Building projects in Nigeria are not fairy tales
waiting to happen. If you want to create your own home, brace yourself for a long road paved with delays, trust issues, and surprises. But it is not an impossible task.
In fact, its a whole lot of excitement for the wise ones.

TIPS FOR BUYING LAND IN NIGERIA FOR EXPATS ABROAD

- Avoid getting wrapped up in initial excitement upon seeing the
importance/advantages of owning a country-home.
Not all that glitters are gold.

- Take the steps one at a time.
Rome wasn't built in a day but they probably have blueprints

- Do plenty of research, ask questions from residents of the proposed land.
Remember PPPPP

- When you're in the least doubt, BACK OFF.
Don't come here and make headline. Be Wise.

- Don't send a kobo to anybody (including your father) until you find land you are ultimately satisfied with.
Don't get too emotional

- Let the professionals close up the deal. Involve property lawyers. Survey the land. Do the necessary paperworks.
Don't be penny-wise, pound foolish.

- Fence the land and put a gate.

Remember, the story of the ten virgins! Be. The Wise One.

It doesn't make any difference if you're here or there. Does it?

MacLovington: Lol. I was refering to Brabus' layman's quote. I wasn't even aware he posted it. Of course Brabus is not an "armchair" builder. Looking at it again, it's probably up to 2m+.

I was rather surprised cos I have an ongoing project. I have barely "scratched the surface" of the ground and land cost, paper work etc have already set me back by nearly 3m!
Bros, don't be surprised o! @ nearly N2m, a lot of things are not included in the list given o. I'm sure you'll agree the list is incomplete. The final build cost will eventually get close to N3m or well over N3m by the time the following are added:

1. Sand filling
2. Plastering
3. Ceiling: Internal/External
4. Roofing sheet and accessories
5. Architectural Design/Building Plan Approval
6. Land purchase
7. Well/Borehole
8. Septic Tank
9. Dues/Settlements to the Omo Oniles (foundation fee, roofing fee)
10. Site/Road Access except the site is on a road.
11. Planks for beam, lintels, arcs and columns (whether rented or purchased)

The cost of building a home varies, depending on where you build (the soil condition), how you finish the house, and your build route(self-managed, contractor-managed, or direct labour).

But if you're a 'Bargain Champion' and can be directly involved in some of these things, I tell you N2.5m can do wonders.

Why Nigeria must decentralise, by Babatunde Raji Fashola:

He said: “Does the central government have the human, institutional and governmental capacity to provide basic needs such as primary education, water supply, sanitation and primary health care in a reliable manner in all the 774 Local Governments?

“As a corollary, we might also ask whether the Federal Government is able to maintain all the 9001 roads in Lagos State and make them pothole free all year round and whether it is able to do the same thing in the remaining 35 states.”

He said there was an urgent need to move away from the current unitary order.
The governor said: “This is the reason why the shackle of unitarism evident in policies like a quota system, central agriculture, central electricity, central VAT, central driving license, central judiciary, central Police, central railways and so many like them must be immediately removed, to enable the people of Nigeria take control of their own destiny through their States.”. ~ Nation.

Unpopular like pop music, please no policies ever implemented in this country is popular, nobody jump on the table and shout hurray here comes happy times. Its a shame when I go to other cities in the world only to return to a sham in Lagos. If okadas are banned, nobody will die, people will only shout and adjust then later thank the govt for banning it in the future. If people go to jail for crossing express roads, others would adjust and check their sanity level. If market women can't rent a shop in a proper place, they either move to ibadan where it can be done or save money and go rent a shop. A policy doesn't have to be popular, it just have to be right. I think lagosians enjoy living in their slums cos I am getting tired of this argument. These are feasible things in mega cities around the world. If you want to transform lagos to a mega city, you have to implement best practice policies, else Fashola wants to transform lagos into a mega ghetto. Well actually it is a mega ghetto. When you implement such policies, the people who want to stay in lagos will stay and does who cannot cope, afford or restrain themselves will leave the city. Hence a way to decongest the population of our mega ghetto city.
All hail Nairaland's No. 1 'Armchair Activist'. Your ideas require you to be physically involved in political struggles, but instead you choose to be intentionally ignorant or dismissive of real-

MacLovington: Thanks Brabus but it appears the cost by the fellow I replied to is not even up to 2m including land. My concern is that once you begin that kind of project, the cost keeps rising. Then it's either you give up or continue at increased cost.
Have you done any project for any NLer?
What kind of roofing material will you use?
^^^
I cannot predict cost of any building simply on assumption. There's need to first prepare a plan of the proposed building.
An engineering estimate for the proposed building can then be prepared after considering site and soil conditions, based on architectural/structural design of the building.

Only after these steps an approximate figure
of costing can be arrived at with some margin of error. Without even preparing a plan, only non-professional contractors can talk of exact cost of a building.

The figure I gave above is a generic quote for DIYs. You cannot base your final cost on those figure when you're giving the job to a contractor. After all, contractor has to make profit and a sizeable profit as per his expectation.

The quote assumes using a .4 guage aluminium definitely not step-tiles, no cladding/flashing. Just ridges and eave angle.

As for references on NL, I don't have too many of them. I prefer using my personal project as a reference but if you insist I can forward you verifiable projects (ongoing and completed).

If you got it for N2m from a builder or contractor, you can go ahead and seal up the deal.

One word - BE INVOLVED! Builders aren't mind-readers.

zitoA: @brabus, I have been duped before and i do not want to fall again. I want to buy land where can i get one plot for 500,000. I do not mind staying in my rented home while i build i just need to have one.
You can always get land of N500k but my advice is to take note of where not to buy especially for those with budget is limited.

1. Don't buy lands in waterlogged areas or swamp. They are cheaper but it can be difficult to build on it for a beginner.
If not for anything else, think of the cost of constructing drainage and septic tank in a waterlogged area.

2. Avoid Slopes or Hilly site. You might end up spending more on the foundation cost as the requirements are high.

3. Don't buy sandy soil. Its very unstable and usually cause cracks and differential settlement. You need to spend more to get a solid structure.

4. Ask Questions? Don't just assume all is well. Speak to the professionals (property lawyers, builders, architects, engineers, online forum like Nairaland, home owners within your neighbourhood, etc). When you're in least doubt, BACK OFF.

5. Don't pay until you're convinced all is well. If possible ask the seller if you can withold some part of the payment for 1 month to clear all doubt. Remember, he who pay the piper dictates the tune.

6. Start work immediately. You can start with paper work, site clearing, foundation

7. Setup Project Schedule Don't rush things.

Even, if its only half plot you can afford on a flat, dry land - BUY IT!

Above all, Involve God.

da student: Check the apple store in computer village. Its not a an apple retail store.

The dude there is really nice and you would get answers to most of your questions there.

Plus that's where I get all my apple accessories.
Mac Center, right? I won't rate the shop until I collect my MacBook Air later tmrw. But I'm smelling rat already!
