Depending on your budget - you might want to apply for New York Film Academy. Else, there are some film schools in Nigeria where you can obtain a diploma degree in some filmmaking courses.

I did enjoy the original thread when I first saw it and thought 'Yeah by now she'd be doing something'... maybe would have made a tiny short with her friends or something.
Can you remember the thread with the other girl that made a clip of a 'prospective' horror movie but needs actors and all sorts? At least she stepped out and did something. It wasn't great or anything but, if I remember correctly, it did show she had a pretty good sense of 'sound' for the genre.

I'm pretty sure Jenny has friends and someone has at least got a 'phone that shoots 720p' - Make a 60-90 sec 'silent' short or ANYTHING to show you CAN think outside of the 'Idumota market box' that 95% of people are going to fall into (if not 99.9%). If I had been in film when I was in Naija... me and my 'friends' for dey shoot one-one scene, two-two scenes every weekend until one feature dey in the 'Can'. Highest e go take one year to shoot abi?

People out there need to start thinking 'differently' and I mean VERY differently because every other person you meet is a filmmaker, writer, director, producer, editor, actor, driving-catering-vfx-gaffer! And some people out there are da.mn good!

First of, I saw your other thread where you disclose this idea. I've got to tell you - its a difficult one and only your IDEA alone cannot get you anywhere.

Nobody will finance an 'IDEA'. At least no business minded person will. You will need something concrete more than just the idea. You will need a plan. You will need a story. You will need a script. You will need to have a clear cut plan of what you want to achieve.

Now that informal talks are underway between Chris Nolan and James Bond power that be about the possibility of Nolan taking over the franchise. As writer/director of course. You made a lot of valid points and I know you understand Nigeria very well. You've successfully summarized Nigeria's problems.

But unfortunately, no government will or can do all the things you proposed. Our politicians lack ideas, and more importantly they lack the will to change from their corrupt ways. Their neck deep in godfatherism, nepotism and sheer lack of regard for other people except themselves.

I've come to realize that they don't see things our way - how can they? Let's be honest. They are living an excessive life, they have all they want and more, their children are not in this country and the people, sorry, sycophants surrounding them are praising them to high heavens. How can they understand what we common men are going through?

This is where the masses come in. This is where we should use the only power we have over them - the power of number to force them into seeing things our way. This is when we should occupy the street and demand for what is rightly ours.

Waiting for a messiah that will never come is exactly what they want us to do while they keep enriching themselves and their next ten generation.

Of cause this will never reflect in our voting patterns because Zimbabweans own the South African vote (through rigging), and South Africans tend to never care enough to vote anyway.

The Northerners have held power more than any zone in Nigeria, yet North is relatively underdeveloped. Obasanjo was president for eight years, the effect is unnoticeable in South West. Goodluck has been ruling since, South South is not developing out of the ordinary.

Nigerians are seeing the problems of this country from a plexiglass; we are not seeing it clearly. The problem is majorly our LEADERS. We have terrible people in the helms of affairs. I've always wondered why no Igbo senator or governor or minister is pro Biafran. Or why no Hausa top echelons practice Islam the way their youth is practicing it. Or why no Yoruba politician is seeing himself better than other tribes and not pallying with others?

Our politicians irrespective of their tribe are busy looting the funds of this country while we the youth are busy fighting each others senselessly.

Is it the Hausas or Igbos that are preventing the South West governors from developing their states? Maybe it is the Igbos that are underdeveloping the North.

If this country splits today - what do the pro 'let's divide' think is going to happen? That our leaders will suddenly change? The same set of people that has been ruling, that are still ruling now will still be the same people that will rule the divided countries.

We think these people are foolish but the truth is that we are not that wise either and they are using us to achieve their aim.

I'm not so sure about Nigeria; but I'm sure you will see the DVD in any video store in Mumbai or New Delhi.
