TV/MoviesRe: Kingdom Of Death: Best Of Nollywood 2013 by Briareos(m): 11:41pm On Feb 26, 2013
VillageBoi: I hear you oh! Na the start throw me... "A dark sorceress, with evil desires of her own..." Is a 'dark sorceress' not already meant to have 'evil desires'? So what's new there? Well as you say... it could end up being ok'ish but I'll definitely pass on this one.
WAS waiting for this comment. grin
TV/MoviesRe: The First Action Movie In Nigeria Close To What We See In Hollywood by Briareos(m): 12:27pm On Feb 24, 2013
This looks like a thriller to me. Or the definition of 'action' has changed?

And I'm tired of seeing remixes of Hollywood movies. Why can't we be original for once?

TV/MoviesRe: Afrinolly Short Film Competition by Briareos(m): 10:21am On Feb 19, 2013
I've downloaded all the movies in both categories. Just waiting to buy a bucket load of popcorn so I can cross leg and enjoy the cinematic prowess of Africans. I've seen a couple of them tho (out of blantant impatience) and I know I'm up for some real delight.
TV/MoviesRe: BLINK - Best Nigerian Short Film Ever? by Briareos(m): 10:16am On Feb 19, 2013
I was about to give a link to my debut short movie, but with the movies I'm seeing all over NL, is making me secondguess the decision.

I'm frightened in an exciting way. Its a really good thing, IMO, as I really want to perfect my act or at least make it better before I subject myself to the world and especially NLers harsh scrutiny.

On other news, this is a really great movie and like some shorts been upoaded recently, I've learnt a few trick from it.

Graphics/Video MarketRe: I Need Canon EOS Lenses by Briareos(op): 9:13am On Feb 06, 2013
VillageBoi: The 70-300 is just as bad as a 'kit' lens. What you really need to be looking at are - First... Prime lenses eg Canon 50mm f1.4 for starters. If going for zooms the Tokina is brilliant, Tamron 17-50 f2.8, & then a 70-200 f2.8 which you don't really need and is also very expensive. The first 3 mentioned will cover you for almost anything.
*Note* - Any zoom that changes apeture while zooming is no good.
Hey VB,

Thanks for the head up.I've gotten the 50mm lens already. After some light research on the internet, I discovered the lens is a must have. I'm still hoping to get the other two you mentioned, tho.

And did you get my email? I'm expecting a reply o.

Have a lovely day.

Its weekend already. grin

VillageBoi: Briareos, how now? Where have you been? True talk, I also think Nigerians DO know good movies; even if we're not really making them. Ah, no carry placard oh!
My script must be so bad that its taking you a century to finish.
TV/MoviesRe: Do Nigerians Really Know 'good' Movies? by Briareos(m): 1:45am On Jan 09, 2013
Its really cool we are asking ourselves this question... If Nigerians know good movies, i.e.

I've pondered on the question myself many times and well, lets just - I'm still pondering on it.

But it depends on what we classify as 'good' movie.

If a good movie is one with well written script, believable actors, good storytelling skills, with a storyline that is relevant to Nigerians, attractive picture quality and laudable cinematography - YES, I'm very sure Nigerians will recognize it. We are NOT entirely as barbaric as we seems.

But if a good movie is one which is trying to be like a 'yankee movie'. A rushed job, with extremely irritating visual effects, whack script, terrible storyline that is not feasible in a typical Nigeria settings, etc, Nigerians might not know IT and might just stick to the cliche, recycled storyline of pseudo true love and juju they are used to.

See Bro, the answer is beating us in the face. Is there a single Naija movie that falls into the first category?

A lot has been said already and I see no reason to continue to beat a dead horse.

Village and Semid, una weldone o! Until I carry placard abi?
TV/MoviesRe: Man Of Steel - Superman! by Briareos(m): 8:23pm On Dec 20, 2012
ijebabe: It is a fixed story line, but doesn't make it impossible to adapt a different angle to the story. That was what I thought about the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, simple storyline set in stone but Sanders turned it into something else, adding that dark element, that made it feel like a new story.

The soundtrack alone lends that eerie feel and im curious to find out what. Kevin Costner as Clark's dad and Russell Crowe as Jor El is enough to get me excited. Nolan is an amazing director I don't think he'll fail with this one.

My concern now is, after this movie will Nolan go on to do the Justice League? Im beside myself with joy just thinking about it grin
Unfortunately, it is not Chris Nolan that is directing it. He is just one of the producers. Zack Snyder is not bad, though. But I wish it is Nolan handling the movie. He basically rejuvenated the Batman franchise. If he can turn just a bat-man into such a marvelous movie as we saw in TDKR, just imagine what he'd be able to do with the Boss himself, Superman.

It took Peter Jackson less than ten years to adapt a novel written for over forty years by Tolkien. I think it's allowed.

One out of the many clandestine projects that sprang up during the cold war.

America paranoia rose to a zenith after they realised they've lost the monopoly on nuclear weapon, they were looking for all sort of avenue to own an ace card, even venturing into metaphysics.

Oh well.

semid4lyfe: Lol, it's funny you disagree with me over the duplex issue cos even the guy who made the movie didn't.

Watch the video again, you'll notice he pressed (ironed) his clothes just by the staircase and when the iron effed up, he ran up the staircase supposedly to get dressed in the bedroom.

If that isn't a duplex, then I don't know what is.
Semid, I've been stalking you on here to no avail. Apparently, im not a good stalker.

I sent you a mail - just wondering if you got it?

@OP,

I cant wait to watch your clip, but from the testimonies of some great and harsh critiques above (I'm not mentioning names o), Im sure it will be a good one.

Hello Ypzilanti,

I also thought of posting something like this on here, but I was discouraged by many reasons. One of which is the seriousness of anybody that shows interest.

If you are really serious, we can work something out.

I'm not claiming to be an expert or sort, but I do believe I have what it takes.

Also, my experience is limited - but I just finish participating in the 48 hours film challenge.

My email is briareos806@gmail.com

Feel free to holla at me.

Ciao.
