hello house.. Few articles i have come across suggests that solar panels should face south for optimal energy production. I decided to check on my panel direction using a digital compass on my phone this is what i get.. Does it mean my panels are facing the north? I have been getting poor outputs from a 1.2kw setup.. Althought i was not the one who mounted it.
Today i went to aanother location where the roof position was pointing in a south east direction with panels on it.. i also want to know if this is a good direction also..
I will appreciate all comments from everyone... thanks

papiTwist: Hello good people,
I installed six pieces of 350 watts Felicity solar panel mono (3 each in series and paralleled). That is totaling 2,100 watts. I’m using 3.5Kva/24v Felicity Hybrid inverter IVPM 3524 with 80amp inbuilt MPPT charge controller.
The system is only able to generate 1,200watts maximum on very bright sunny days, even with depleted batteries and load. So I’m wondering if other users have similar experience.
This means I’m loosing 900 watts of my total installed capacity.
Is this normal? Please what are your experiences? Did you check each panel individually befor mounting? What about the direction of your panels? Any shading? Can we see pics of your installation. |

bigrovar: Around Q4 last year. I upgraded my solar panels from 9x 335 Yingli panels to 9x 600w Canadian Hiku7 solar panels. Bought panel from techland.
Here is a short performance review.
Installation. The panels are roof mounted with a 21 degree tilt. They face South East at 123 degree Azimuth.
The panels are paired with a 100A / 150v Victron smart solar charge controller. Total capacity is 5.4kw. 9 panels are connected in a 3SP3 arrangements. There is a 10mm2 shielded and UL listed cable between PV and charge controller. Cable length is about 10 meters.
Overall the system performance has been really good. I get an average of 4.5kw output which represents over 80% of panel PMAX.
One thing the panel is really good at is how it handles heat. It has a heat co efficiency of 0.34% and this shows in the performance. Yesterday ambient temperature (as pulled from my personal weather station) was as high as 43C, yet the panel was able to produce (consistently) north of 4400w.
During cloud edge events the panel has produced close to 110% of output which is 5.8kw of 5.4kw PMAX.
I attached 2 centrifugal fans to the Victron solar charge controller to help handle heat since I am using the controller close to it's limits. Very impressive.. so does it mean the canadian panel has more performance over d yingi?. How much did i get the canadian panels sir ? |

First check if your hard drive connection is intact
Did u or ur engineer downgrade your operating system say windows 10 to windows 7? if yes u have disabled UEFI BOOTING options to legacy to support older windows operating system.
You made mention of no backup (battery). Most laptops now dont come with a cmos battery.. settings stored on bios are being backed up by the laptop battery. so if the battery is dead, there is no way the bios setting can be saved hence it results to going back to factory settings which is UEFI booting and ur pc is set to legacy boot..
my take here is this replace laptop battery and go into bios setting and allow legacy boot options. |

odimbannamdi: Please, be very careful with this installation. One mistake and the fan won't work.
I got 2 units from a seller on Konga via offline sales. My installer made a silly mistake and the first one didn't work. We had to watch a video from YouTube (link below) together and we corrected the mistake in the second fan.
I had to reach out to the seller who then directed me to the distributor at alaba international who finally directed me to their service centre also.there in Alaba and it was repaired. It was not a palatable experience. I spent the whole day on that move.
https://youtu.be/uH7VgNyvo NI pls where is the service center in alaba? i would really appreciate if i can have d address |

fellow nairalanders pls come to my aid. i contacted a friend to purchase some pv modules.. Initial calculation was to get 300w*4 panels to charge a 4.8kwh lifepo4 battery.. Even the battery sef get e own story.. I am using an epever 30a 100v mppt controller
At first i didnt pay attention to what the panel was generating . But i later began to find out that the whole thing was not performing.. Pv modules are africell 300w.. According to my the installer whom i purchased the pvs from the connection was done in parallels. i was getting 29v 10-12a (pv input) during peak hours... This to me was unacceptable... even if there was a longer cable run because i leave down stairs (a storey building). When issues arose as to leakages on the roof i was determined to use the opportunity to check the panels . I borrowed a pv meter and the testing was done off peak hours on just one panel.. voltage and current were about 22v and 4.99a. which translated to 110w.
Now i changed the connection to 2series parallel 2 series.. My readings were sometimes 45/47v 5/6a, 50v/3a during peak period (pv input)...
I am beginning to think i was sold panels with stickers of questionable datasheet.. On a second thought if the panels were living up to expectations, the current in parralel was very close to my pv input current and the installer carried out the connection in parallel to the detriment of my controller.... E come be like say my journey into the solar industry na wrong entry

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by brightk(m): 5:54am On May 17, 2022 |
ceaser: Maybe I should ask you this: Were the MC4 connectors of your panels left intact by the installer or they were cut off? This is important especially as you said it is a new installation that has worked for only three days.
In instances as where the MC4s are removed, the twisted panel wires often form an arc at the junction of the panel wires and the wire running the rest of the way to the CC. With the arc formed at the junction, a voltmeter may even show normal panel output voltage when measured at the point of entry to the CC. However the current required from the panels will be low or non-existent as shown by the CC. does it mean removing mc4 connectors harms the current the pv is generating? please i need more clarification on this.. sometimes this mc4 connectors do not make good contacts |
