I also call the Catholic Church unbiblical, because you and I know, your Church is mixed with paganism and you don't follow the commandments of God alone, Peter and Paul were murdered by Emperor Nero, because Peter and Paul denied paganism and taught the truth about God.

9 inches-the differences we have in Christ is, your God, is the Church, my God is Christ-"Why" because I walk with Christ, while you walk with the Catholic Church.
Jesus warned us about idolising, and it's simple to do, everything that takes our thoughts away from Christ is idolising. Its like this, I like Harley's, and if I were to love a Harley so much, then I am idolising the Harley. Then that Harley becomes my God.
Jesus warned us about People who idolise money, the Lord said: we can't worship God and mammon at the same time, you will either hate the one and love the other, I find this sort of behaviour-people loving money, is in the Church, the rich have money always, but the poor, desires to have money, they focus on money, and money becomes their God.
In your case, you have the Church, and you love the Catholic Church, you idolise the Catholic Church-more than you love Christ..
As Christians we need to focus on ourselves, we need to test ourselves in our faith in Christ, and if we examin ourselves, we than need to choose, whom do we want most..Our Church, the money or the Harley Davidson, or God?

I also married a Catholic, and I am a born again Christian-to be truthful you won't find the answers within the Catholic Church, only because there's nothing there to be found, Jesus said: the Gates of Hell will not prevail against the Word of God..
If you are truly a child of Christ, and you have a desire in your heart to know Christ, you wouldn't turn your back on Christ for any price.
Don't be deceived, God is not mocked. If you know Christ-He had trained you to lead people to Him-meaning lead your new partner to be, in Christ, not the other way around, pray about this..
And if you aren't to keen to reach out to the Lord, then just read this forum-and you will find the truth about the Catholic Church. and if you are a Child of God, then listen to your brothers and sisters, who are in Christ. The Catholic Church don't know Christ. Test yourself-Do you?

I'm asking this because I'm trying to learn more about the Catholic faith as I see myself marrying a Catholic person soon and even attended some of the masses recently, but been trying to get much information to convince me these Catholic beliefs that I'm alien to are actually what Christ approves of. Would you be kind enough to furnish me with scriptural passages to back up these doctrines I highlighted earlier and also sources of like books/websites for those oral traditions.

I fully know about Martin Luther and his doctrine of sola scriptura. He is the one who formulated sola scriptura which is unbiblical. So you can't attribute such confused act to God. Christ instituted only one church and prayed for it to be One. He also promised it the Holy Spirit and that He will be with it till the end of age. That was a guarantee! That nothing, not even the gates of hell shall prevail against it. So when your leader Martin Luther separated from The Only Church which is THE BODY OF CHRIST, he was on his own and not of God. He preaches different thing than what the apostles preached.

And the Catholic Church hardens the minds of their believers, that they will never forgive Martin Luther, nor will they forgive me in this matter-I also reject the Catholic Church, and I reject your doctrines that does not line up with the Word of God..

Martin Luther didn't develop his own doctrine, Martin Luther, O.S.A. was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and monk, and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the Roman Catholic Church.
He strongly found fault in the Church's teachings, Martin Luther studied the bible, and like us all, who study the bible, ask questions, and quote scriptures to the disbelievers who refuses to teach the truth. Don't you understand this isn't about the Catholic Church, Martin's argument was about the Word of God; Martin questioned the Catholic Church, only because the Church were practicing paganism against Christ-when we read the scriptures Paul taught the truth about Christ, verbally he taught, and his understandings was all Christ; Martin Luther had the rights to question the word, and questioned the Spirit behind that word..
He caused treason against the Catholic Church, not against God.

The poor widow was devoured by the pharisees, and the Pharisees today are not much better!

When we look at this today, it's quite the same, this time it is the Pastors who lay on the guilt, and shame upon the people, to pay into the treasury of the Church, Pastor men of corrupted minds destitute of the truth who suppose that godliness is their means for Financial gain.
The widow story is no different in today's story, matter of fact it is a warning, about the leadership..

Good answer! Since you accepted protestants like you lack the knowledge of the unwritten Word of God, how then do you know what it says or does not say? You can only discuss what the Catholic Church believes or practices Only when you know both the Written and Unwritten Word and traditions say. So, you cannot decisively make your judgement off of the Written Word only because you lack a more holistic knowledge of the Word of God and the traditions practiced by the Apostles.

Luther and his teachings are not of God. Only the Church of the Apostles, the one Christ established Himself can confirmif you are teaching in accordance with Christ's teachings or not. If you reject the Catholic Church, you reject the Apostles and Christ Himself:

2. “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” (Matthew 10:40)
3. “He who hears you hears Me, and he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” (Luke 10:16)
4. "I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven." (Matthew 16:18)
5. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. So if you want to get right with God, you have to go to Jesus directly, not any Church, religious organization or human individual. Jesus said, come to me all you that labour and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
We are not saved by belonging to a Church either Catholic or Protestant. There are only one kind of Christian, those that have made Jesus Lord of their life, and the simplest definition of a "true" Church is any group of people that is united by a shared love of Jesus Christ.
As a Protestant, I believe the Catholic belief system has complicated the simple Gospel message. I protest any religion that teaches that to receive spiritual salvation involves a lot of hard work. I believe we have eternal life when we put our faith in Jesus, as the Scripture says: "He that believes on the Son has everlasting life" (John 3:36)
The Bible warns against those that seek to complicate and corrupt God's simple plan of salvation (2 Corinthians 11:3) The simple truth is God's gift of life has been fully paid by Jesus on the cross. We can receive it in this life by turning from our wrong ways and accepting Jesus as our Lord, it is not something we can get by doing good works (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Catholics often repeatedly say the same prayer over and over again. But this is a practice that the Bible says is wrong. For even Jesus told His followers to not vainly repeat themselves in prayer, like some do thinking they will be heard because of their many words. Jesus went on to say, we are not to be like them, for our heavenly Father knows what we need, before we ask him (Matthew 6:7- cool

A common Catholic tradition involves the kissing and bowing down to images and statues of Mary, Jesus, dead people and angels. The Bible says that is wrong, and such objects should not even be made (Exodus 20:4-5)
Jesus told us to worship God in Spirit and truth (John 4:23-24)
There are many other Catholic practices and beliefs that can't be found in the Bible, such as saying prayers for the dead. Generally Church services involve intricate rituals and ceremonies that are not found in the Bible, but have been invented by people. God has said in the Bible He is more interested in what is in peoples heart than rituals and ceremonies.
The Church is not the Catholic Church, the Church is the body of people in Christ. And if the Catholic Church obeyed His commandments, then why do I find this unscriptured knowledge, Mary the physical mother of Jesus is of great importance to Catholics, and yet the Bible says very little about Mary. And if you truly believed the scriptures below then why does the Church practice, another, and not these scriptures below.

The Bible describes Mary as the physical mother of Jesus, and that she was made pregnant by God. {Matthew 1:16, Luke 1:26-42, Luke 2:5-19} Mary visited her cousin Elisabeth (Luke 1:39-56) Mary attended a feast at Jerusalem with her family. (Luke 2:48-51) Mary is present at a marriage feast. (John 2:1-10) Mary looked for Jesus when He was teaching inside a house (Matthew 12:46-47, Mark 3:31, Luke 8:19) Mary went to see Jesus at the cross (John 19:25-27). Mary was committed to the care of Jesus' disciple John. (John 19:27) Mary lived with the disciples in Jerusalem for a while (Acts 1:14)
So everything Catholics say about Mary that is not in the Bible has been made up by people, and are based on tradition rather than the truth revealed to us God's Word. Nowhere does the Bible say Mary was greater than any other Christian, she was just a human like all of us. The Bible does not say people should worship Mary or pray to Mary. The Bible does not say Mary prays for us.
A popular belief among Catholics is that Mary never did any sin, but the Bible says everyone has sinned, "No one is good, "No, not one, but God..
(Romans 5:12-13, 1 Kings 8:46, 1 John 1:8-10, Psalm 53:3) Mary even admitted she needed a Saviour for she called God her Saviour (Luke 1:46-47) Jesus is the only person who has not sinned, and Jesus was God. Some Catholics believe Mary never had any other children. But the Bible says Mary did have other children (Matthew 13:55-56)
Catholics often call Mary the mother of God, but God does not have a mother, for God and Jesus already existed before Mary existed (Isaiah 43:10) Mary was not God's mother, but simply a channel through which Jesus entered this physical world.
NEVER SURE OF BEING SAVED
Because of beliefs about purgatory, No Catholic person is sure they will go to Heaven when they die, they might go to purgatory. But the Bible says if we walk in the light, as Jesus is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of God's Son Jesus cleanses us of all our sin (1 John 1:7) So Jesus cleanses us of ALL our sin. PENANCE
Catholics generally believe sin causes spiritual penalties, and not all of these penalties are removed even if the guilt of a sin has been forgiven. They believe these remaining penalties can be removed or reduced by penance, which involves doing good works. What these good works are is decided by the priest after a confession. According to Catholic beliefs any remaining penalties will be paid by suffering in a place called purgatory after death. Christ had already paid the price..
INDULGENCES
Catholics also teach that the unpaid penalties can cause individuals to be punished in this life also, in various forms of sufferings, and what remains unpaid by suffering on earth will be paid in purgatory. Catholics also believe these penalties can be reduced with what Catholics call indulgences, which involve doing good works, saying certain prayers, going to confession, going to communion, or doing something else. Catholics also believe indulgences can be gained for people that have died and gone to the imaginary place called purgatory.
PURGATORY
Purgatory is a place Catholics believe they will go if they die with unpaid penalties, there they will pay for their penalties by suffering. This imaginary place keeps many Catholics in fear all their life, because they can never be sure of how long they will spend there. A fear of purgatory causes many Catholics to miss out on the joy and peace that comes from knowing Jesus has paid the full price for sin. The Bible does not teach that today there should be a special class of people called priests, for God sees all Christians as priests (1 Peter 2:9) Jesus can only forgive sins.

No one is disagreeing about scripture, the traditions you talk about, that came from our old fathers, comes under the law of Moses, this law continual'ed after Christ came, only because the Pharisees loved the traditions of men, and in this day and age the Catholic Church still practices some of these laws, like many of the Jewish elders today-they are still waiting for the Messiah to arrive.

Paul rebuked Peter, because Peter was on either side of the fence, he loved Christ-but he loved the law too, Peter would agree with the Jews, that all men, even the Gentiles should be circumcised. This is only one tradition the Catholic Church still practices today.

Because of this action, Paul called Peter a hypocrite. He believed one thing, but did something else. As a leader in the church, he was to set a good example for others, but instead, his hypocritical actions lead others astray (other Jews followed his lead including "even Barnabas" wink

{Galatians 2:13} And certainly upset the Gentile Christians. He also acted in complete opposition to the vision God had given him earlier that the Gentiles were to be considered equal to the Jews.

These men and women who you claim have found the Catholic Church home, do not know God.
No man, who have a relationship with the Father will turn his back on Him, will bow down and worship another.
You don't understand, the Holy Spirit would never allow the Fathers children to return back into darkness, you don't understand, once we are in the light, we are having fellowship with the Father.
You don't understand, once God starts His work in you, He finishes it until His done. Meaning there's no darkness in the light.
People returning back to the Catholic Church seeking some sort of relief from men, do not know God..
And if these people, have left the protestant Church, to return back to the Catholic Church, these people never knew God, they were never saved to know Him..
Can't you see, it takes all kinds of people to fellowship in one place at one time, not only the protestant Church, the least of them are truly saved, while the rest of them, are into laws, rules and regulations, in politics, others for financial gain, all in all, these are the things the world can only offer.
Many are called, but few are chosen, the many are the branches that does not belong to the Vine, they broke of the vine, the few are the chosen who are grafted into the vine, we are His branches grafted into God's vine.
The many Churches don't know God, they sit in Church Sunday after Sunday, listening to a sermon they don't really care about, some of them just socialise with friends and family, maybe they are there because of a family tradition, or maybe the pastor told them they were going to heaven, maybe they are there because there parents told them to go, some go because of guilt, others go to be part of the fashion show, others like to be propitiated.
All in all, the many people will not see the kingdom of God. Neither will you, until you come out of the harlots of harlots the Church that is filled with idolatry, the Church that denies the Word of God with a passion.

I repeat, judgement is of God alone. What you and I both know is that Martin Luther discredited and rejected the unwritten word of God. The apostles of Jesus preached both the written and unwritten Word of God, and Christianity has been that way until the devil deceived Martin Luther to start teaching 'bible alone'. I repeat, judgement is of God alone. What you and I both know is that Martin Luther discredited and rejected the unwritten word of God. The apostles of Jesus preached both the written and unwritten Word of God, and Christianity has been that way until the devil deceived Martin Luther to start teaching 'bible alone'. Bible (written word) alone doctrine is man-made by Martin Luther, it's not in line with what the bible says. Preaching the bible alone as a rule of faith is unbiblical.

God forgives a sinner who has repented and turn from his sinful ways. Martin Luther appeared about 1400 years after Christ and rejected the unwritten word of God after becoming a priest. By preaching to protestants that they ONLY need the bible, he misled many souls and has continued to do so till today. Unfortunately, he did not repent and change from his ways. Only God can judge him, not me.

To make this more clear to you, take Apostle Paul for example. He obviously know a lot more than he wrote in his letters. Paul did not intend these letters to be kept for posterity. He wrote them to communicate with distant churches, to encourage, to cajole, to inform, and to respond to events that he had heard about. The reason they have been kept is because they are full of timeless wisdom, as well as being the earliest writings of the Church. The early Church members or early Christians obviously know more than just the written tradition because they were preached to orally and directly by the apostles who of course have most of the knowledge about Christ and His teachings.
So, this knowledge they possess has been passed down through ages and it remains within the Church.

{Revelation} Message to the Seven Churches, Message to Ephesus, Message to Smyrna, Message to Pergamum, Message to Thyatira, Message to Sardis, Message to Philadelphia, Message to Laodicea.

If you blame Martin Luther then you are blaming God-Jesus separated the apostles away from the crowd, why? Jesus needed them to Himself to teach them the truth about Him. Was not Martin Luther a believer in Christ too, did not your Church teach Martin Luther the Word of God too..
God separated Martin Luther-he came out from among them, he studied the scriptures and he found the lord.
In the flesh we can only see things that is suited for the flesh, the flesh is blind, "No-one is good-"No 'not one, "But God.
Lets say: If you visited a friend and you found him 'murdered, by a man, who is still in his home holding a knife, the man is arrested and charged with murder-finely he is in Court, and after all the evidence was heard, the Judge found Him innocent-what will you do? You would curse the judge-because you would say to the Judge, you have made the wrong decision.
"Well if we were to understand Martin Luther, and put yourself in his shoes, and this time God is the Judge, and God found Martin Luther innocent of the crimes you have accuse him off, what will you do-you would curse the Judge, and you will say to the Judge, you have made the wrong decision! listen God can Change a mans heart, once God begins to work in a man, God never finishes His Work until it's done.

But then, after he was excommunicated by the Church, he limited his Christianity to bible only (sola scriptura).

And this infallibility is guaranteed implicitly but directly by the promise of the Saviour in the Great Commission of the Church: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

I am not arguing with you-maybe it's time you come up with the answers, I have no-idea what traditions you are preferring too. And how do you follow these traditions if they aren't written in the Word of God? And what traditions do you follow? explain them to me, like I said if it isn't written it isn't there. Plus in what name did these traditions came, who gave you the authority to follow these traditions?

Uben you may not see me learning about the Catholic Church-but the truth is, I am learning about the Church, maybe it isn't the way you expected me to learn-but I am learning..
Uben the net is full of stuff-you may not like what people are saying about your Church-but it's the Church people don't agree upon, they say things about my Church too, Uben it's not the Church building I am concerned about. it's the idolatry in the teaching-and why teach against Christ-when the Church is Christ, not the building, not the people first, but Christ first.
Sometimes we all have that habit, bringing something, other then Christ to the altar, something that we feel is more important to us-but we brought nothing into this world-and surely we won't be taken it out, after we die.
It's Idolatry: against Christ-Paul describes the origin of idolatry in {Romans 1:21-25}
So don't walk away feeling like someone had ripped your heart out, we cant expect people to agree with any Church-I don't look at this, as an insult, I see an awakening on both sides of the fence-either on the inside or on the outside-you can't expect everybody to bow down to Catholicism-this isn't about which Church building stood up the longest, Christ is the head of the body-and the body is the people, without the people there's nothing to be pride off.
Heaven and Earth will pass away, but His Word will always stay.
