RuudVanNisteroy:Indeed, "you don't just wake up and gather money from your closest friends and start a bank". And there's nothing to suggest Elumelu just woke up gathered money from his closest friends to start a bank. We do ourselves a huge disservice when we fill our ignorance about Elumelu's or anyone else's wealth with our own stupidity and prejudices. Its the point I made about my neighbour who allegedly kept his wife in a cupboard on Osinbajo Close. |
RuudVanNisteroy:The fact that he "acquired Standard Trust Bank in 1997, under Abacha" does not mean he acted illegally. And Money was not "scarce during the 90's except you had connections with government officials" for everyone. There's lots of people who legitimately made money under Abacha without working for government! |

A Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the powers of the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister political parties, which failed to comply with the provisions of the law particularly Section 225 A of the 1999 constitution as amended.A wise person once said, "the hunter has learned to shoot without missing, so the birds must learn to fly without perching". They should next time learn to comply with the law. |
Poor Anambra can become dirty Anambra, now they've sacked the cleaners! |
Don't you want to kill him first ![]() |
And here's another list for your consideration.
|
RuudVanNisteroy:What! You made a mistake with your nominee for President? We'd have to scrutinise your entire list if you could make an error as huge as that, though, I do not agree that one can start a bank without being somewhat wealthy to begin with. Are you sure you are giving him credit for the work he did before you became aware of him? Three degrees points to not overnight, in my opinion.
|
Agboriotejoye:And indeed you are here asking questions, which you should do least you mistakenly elect "$350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom purchasing" and "luxury vehicles, mansions in and outside Nigeria" crooks, then cry over spilt milk. Know though that you are not investigating, nor do they even recognise your existence. |
Greatzeus:In one breath, you show op needs to take responsibility and with the above you advocate irresponsibility. Those who watch the weather do neither sow nor do they reap! |
Greatzeus:Did someone tell you you had the powers to say "let there be and there is"? I suggest you try again or go tell them you failed. |
RuudVanNisteroy:And equally corrupt Kenya's opinion should matter to me because?
|
Agboriotejoye:I don't have to show anyone the source of my wealth or income! You may indeed ask, but you'd need the right credentials, like being the tax office or be investigating me for a crime before I need to even consider your existence. |
RuudVanNisteroy:If Falana, a very wealthy lawyer, can be on your list, perhaps you might see how that corporate titan Osinbajo Close neighbour of mine can be on someone else's list. You might not know how he became wealthy, but those of us who lived in his neighbourhood and who can reason well, know he has been rich before going into politics. No one becomes a billionaire overnight, is my point, and not every billionaire stole their billions as we can obviously see by the billionaires on your list, assuming you scrutinised them before they got on your list, that is. |
RuudVanNisteroy:Personally, I wish Buhari could do what he's known for, which is, imprison looters for 200 years, but I'm not willing to sacrifice democracy and the rule of law for him to do that. Everyone with a brain knows Nigeria's wealth correlates with the price of crude oil, and that Nigeria became poverty capital of the world because the government before him stuck Nigeria's wealth in ghanamustgoes and soakaways and bought "$350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom purchasing" and "luxury vehicles, mansions in and outside Nigeria" when crude oil was $150 a barrel. If they had invested that money in capital projects and the education of Nigerians as they should have done, Nigeria would have been less poor. |
RuudVanNisteroy:And as I said, you just need to convince us that your dream can be a reality we can desire and work for, but if you intend to do that by making unfounded claims of assuming wealthy means crooked, you might have to remove some wealthy people from that list of yours. budaatum: |
RuudVanNisteroy:You are entitled to your opinion about Buhari's track record. It's for that reason we have democracy. Each person votes according to their opinion and the person with the most opinionated voters wins the election, and as you can see by the last two elections, those with your opinion are in the minority. |
RuudVanNisteroy:You'll have to ask him that yourself, but at least you have not yet said "Buhari stole". And I never said he was "Saint Buhari". At worst, he is the lesser of two evils. |
RuudVanNisteroy:As I said, we, the electorate, voted for "$350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom purchasing" and "luxury vehicles, mansions in and outside Nigeria" politicians, and if we wanted factorys we should have voted for factory building politicians! Thankfully, we get another chance in 2023 to shine our eyes and get our priorities right, but we must first see the errors of our past choices and mend our ways. |
RuudVanNisteroy:Abacha stole, and if he was on the ballot today, I'm sure Nigerians would not vote for him nor for Babangida. Buhari, on the other hand has won two elections so I doubt we Nigerians see them the same way going by the evidence before us. |
RuudVanNisteroy:They investigate your income and not necessarily your wealth, is the point you miss here. And the income of top Nigerian politicians can easily allow them to ride a $350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom, if that's their desire. But, you should blame the voters for electing a $350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom politician, is the point here, as the priority of a $350,000 Rolls Royce Phantom purchasing politician is obviously not you! |
RuudVanNisteroy:Please know that the only person I see as better than pdp amongst all those you mentioned is the Buhari whom I mentioned. And I am very delighted that most voting Nigerians seem to agree with me as shown by his winning a second term. If pdp had continued with their level of looting there'd likely be no Nigeria today to the delight of some but the detriment of many. |
One could come home to help with the "No Light, No Water, No Good Roads, No Security" situation if one can. I must say though from personal experience that most at home just want you to drop the money and go back where you came from and make more money to send home. |
The only pity here is that we aren't taking steps to digitise Nigeria by ourselves. Just imagine the employment for millions and the increase in efficiencies if we did. |
Xeeex:I wonder. Some would rather look at another person's full plate than wonder why theirs is empty. |
Agboriotejoye:I do not think it is true that one must pay tax on one's wealth. In supposed saner UK and US, no one pays tax on their wealth since they've already paid tax on their income. And Vat takes care of tax on spending. |
RuudVanNisteroy:When the choice is ghanamustgo bags and soakaways full of foreign currency, its very easy to support Buhari as only a fool would think the raping of Nigeria under pdp was better. As to your verdict against me, don't you think you should investigate me before jumping to lazy conclusions? But then, you do show how lazy you are by repeating the debunked claim that Bagudu "was going to receive $100 million dollars out of the recently returned Abacha loot". To think the rest of the politicians, whom you claim are crooks, would just sit and watch while one Bagudu collects $100m just shows how little you reason, in my opinion. |
Agboriotejoye:Trump's wealth is not being investigated, at least, not officially. And Allen Onyema is being officially investigated for money laundering, which he wouldn't be if he hadn't behaved shadily when moving funds to America. No one says you as an individual should not investigate or heckle as much as you want. But you should not expect an official investigation just because a person is wealthy. |
Agboriotejoye:I don't get you. And I never said "the wealthy are never investigated". Please open your eyes are read properly. You should be investigated if you commit a crime. But being wealthy is not a crime, as far as I know. |
RuudVanNisteroy:The person in above video had a crooked wealthy father who made money through tax evasion, but I guess one is too lazy to scrutinise that! https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/apr/06/the-cameron-network-inherited-wealth-and-family-companies
|
RuudVanNisteroy:If they were not wealthy, and were poor like you, then I have to ask, why did uncrooked you not go into politics leaving us with crooks like them (assuming they are crooks)? Is it not the lack of supposedly honest people like you in politics that leaves us with supposed crooks? I am not against scrutinising politicians! In fact, scrutiny, as small as it is, is why I support bubu, since there was no scrutiny under the prior government. But assuming all politicians are crooks is as lazy as thinking all Nigerians are crooks. I don't think you are a crook and I think you are Nigerian! Let us indeed scrutinise. But let us not just assume every rich person stole their wealth because it can't possibly be true. |
