Does that even make sense?

Ebullience:
Dr. Egbule however noted that “the negotiations between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council on the consequential adjustments arising from the new national minimum wage for officers who earned salaries above N30,000 per month before 18th April, 2019 in the federal civil service will continue.”

He assured that the “outcome of such negotiations will be implemented with the effect from the date an agreement is reached.” He also said all arrears arising from the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage will be worked out by all concerned agencies in partnership with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. He also said those who earn N30,000 and above now will still get their salaries adjusted after the negotiations with the unions.

-Same way he ordered the tankers to leave the streets of Lagos but till now, they still occupy Lagos roads.

-Same way he ordered IG of police to go to Benue but instead the IG was flexing life in Abuja

-Same way he ordered chief of army staff to go to borno and the man went elsewhere

-Same way he ordered the investigation of kano governor and went to Poland to endorse same governor.

If cheap labour was everything, Bangladesh would look like Japan.

Cheap labour alone can not bring the accelerated economic growth the country needs.

If I was the government, I would apply economic shock therapy. This will be in the form of deregulating the prices of electricity, fuel, air travel and ending all other forms of price control. All prices will be fixed by the market. This will cause initial pain but the benefit will be massively improved infrastructure and also massive local and international investments.

Next, cut company tax to no more than 15%.This will attract lots of investment, both local and foreign.

Liberalise trade further by bringing down the high tariff walls and outright ban on goods.

End the Naira substitution policy which will end the excess money problem which will in turn lead to low inflation and will lead to commercial lending rates crashing to single digit figures. Single digit lending rates will completely transform the Nigerian economy.
Cheap labour isn't everything. Highly skilled cheap labour makes an awful lot of difference. What good is labour that struggles with 2+2 or the sad work ethic amongst us Nigerians?

I agree with your deregulations. Prices are far too cheap for decent returns on investment, and higher prices will bring in new investment which will drive down costs and price in the long run. I'd add something on education too. Our curriculums need to be evolved into the 21st century! And I'll strengthen bankruptcy laws. A company that can't service it's debt should go bankrupt, and that includes government agencies and individuals. We need to slaughter some sacred cows so more can eat more meat.

OkCornel:
And the first thing Jesus taught you is how to call others Satanists without any evidence whatsoever to show for it..
I'm beginning to feel the faith of some is justification to do as they wish because it doesn't matter what they do, they are righteous. They sure do works, but not all their work is of the Spirit. They do works of the flesh and justify their so called righteousness despite so many texts to the contrary.

One of the so called anti-work verses would be the following.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Except, as I have repeatedly mentioned, it is not an anti-work verse, as some pressume, but an anti-boast verse, which is much better explained in the parable of the widow's offering who came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. The difference being her giving was of the Spirit, while that of the much wealthier was to be seen by the crowd.

The question in the Parable of the Samaritan was “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” it may not seem so but it is the same as "what must I do to be righteous?" Except without doing work to understand, it may not seem so to some.

First, take the teacher who asked the question. He knew he had to work and stated the work too, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Work!

Would one wish to argue that the Priest and Levite had no faith? Only a lack of understanding would make one say so. The Priest and the Levite both believed and had faith, yet it was the pagan worshipping non-believing not faithful not born again nor regenerated unbaptized but doing good and shewing mercy Samaritan that Christ told the teacher to "go and do likewise". Was it not because of the work he did that Jesus said do likewise?

It can't be disputed that love is the most paramount lesson Jesus taught.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The thing here is that Jesus emphasized not just work but plenty of very hard work, for he said do not just love for those who are lovable, but for those who are not lovable like ones enemies whom the natural inclination is to hate and detest which is even more and much harder work. Or is it that some do not understand that "to love is to work"?

Righteousness, itself, the definition of which is to walk or do things in the right way, and in this case, according to God alone, is to do work, for one can not be doing that which is right in the eyes of the Lord by doing nothing.

The righteous are those who God lives and is complete in. Those who God lives in will be imitators of God and will glorify God in their body by loving one another and their enemies too, which is work. For it is they who do these things that shall dwell in the tabernacle of the Lord, the home of the Righteous, while those who enter not through the narrow gate shall weep and gnash their teeth!

For this very very reason, make every effort (work!) to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. (All work!)

I'll add what I'd call a caveat to all this which is that the Lord likely gave different messages to different people as stated when John sent people to ask Jesus if he was the Messiah. "The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." So we can't obviously be bearing the same crosses or understand equally, for what the Holy Spirit may tell one might not be understandable by another, but to those whom much has been given, so much more is expected.

May the Lord God be our Minister. Amen.

Foreigners decided to put their capital in China because of cheap costs of labor.

It turns out that when a country is poor , it can use it's poverty to an advantage.
Nigeria is poor. Why aren't we using our poverty to our advantage?

Foreign capital went to China because the returns from investing in China are high. China has very highly skilled cheap labour, and that's the attraction and China's advantage.

Doyou2019:
The irony is that he's the one who feels hard done by, especially now that everyone is keeping a distance from him. How do you love a father, who doesn't understand a word of what love means?
Well, this episode is the last straw. I have only my mother to be responsible for. He can keep on spreading falsehood about me. I don't care anymore.
Of course he feels hard done by. If he didn't he'd change but by not taking responsibility for his own actions he doesn't have to. And the error nice people like you make is you think it isn't their fault so you forgive them all the time especially when they say they are sorry - a trick to pull you in just to hurt you all the more over. You ask your mum whom he beat so often and I bet she tells you he repented every so often until he'd battered the poor woman again and again and she finally had enough and left him. I bet you ask yourself you might find dad was nicer after he'd beaten mum too when you were 5. Its what abusers do, beat you up, blame you for it then compensate by being nice.

I tell people who go through what you're going through to love themselves more. Think of it this way, what would you tell your younger brother if he was going through what you're going through? Wouldn't you tell him his father doesn't love him, he should forget about him? I bet its what you told your mum after he'd beat her and before you stood up to him.

These sort of people tend to destroy a lot and the more he has access to you the more harm he'd do, and unfortunately, we Nigerians, fed on "love your father and your mother", find it very difficult to break away and love ourselves. Their trick is to make one feel worthless and there's nothing more worthless that not loving oneself. So let me repeat myself and say you have a responsibility to take care of Doyou2019 and what you're currently doing to Doyou2019 is not kind of you at all. I bet you'd be more responsible and caring if Doyou2019 was a child of yours. Doyou2019 is your number one responsibility, or number two if you want to place mum at number one, so please love Doyou2019 more and take good care of him. And never ever take anything from that man ever again! He'll just blackmail you everytime. If you start now educating Doyou2019 he should learn to starve first before eating his father's food or take his money. Starving won't kill you and you'd even be prouder of yourself for refusing to eat his food whilst you were hungry and your next meal will taste much sweater too.

I got to tell you with tears in my eyes as I write this that I'm hurting for Doyou2019 already. Please know that all this is very easy to say and harder to actually do, but you owe Doyou2019 a lot already so start now, be strong and stop the harm being done to Doyou2019. While you're at it spend his 20k on ma and something good for Doyou2019. Call it money for plaster and put it over your distress. He can get it back when you throw his smelly corpse in the ground!

There's quite a lot more to Africans in UK than "gangs, robbery, stabbings the crime". There's more lawyers, doctors, engineers etc amongst us than "gangs, robbery, stabbings the crime" for starts. Just that there so little "gangs, robbery, stabbings the crime" that a tiny blip seems like an epidemic. And where minorities are concerned, we see it as us not doing our jobs making sure no one is left behind. We like our peace down here is what it is. And we can't stand people dying on our streets stinking everyone up.

Did you miss how tough johnydon22 was on op? Your evidence can only not be enough to convince because it isn't evidence or because the person you present it to refuses to look at it or see it, in which case we'd just say they are blind. Interpreted evidence on the other hand is of a different order, and more especially if its in the form of words which are subject to interpretation.

The teacher has about three periods per week of which he is to copy or dictate notes to the students, and ensure that at least 70% of the students understand the topic being taught.
You're sneaky! But that's beside the point. You took my money so I got to give you my time. Jesus said I must.

It's the "understand" above, see. Teachers spend so much time "copy or dictate notes to the students" that there's no time left to ensure that "at least 70% of the students understand the topic being taught". Kind of explains our believing attitude don't you think? You, teacher, might be ensuring we copy notes but student me spends 100% of my time copying notes in a language I don't understand full of words I never heard before and don't know the meaning of. What else you want me to do but take your word for it, believe you and cram my head full of your notes? After all, believe, they tell me and I'll get to go to heaven and live eternal life so why wouldn't believing you make me pass biology? Except you get to see how ignorant I am when the topic is evolution, which I'm certain is in the notes you made me copy but which I obviously do not understand. You got to shake your head, I'm sure, at how dumb you've made me be.

We don't see it in Mathematics which no one can cram. Students have to practice so much until they understand because if they don't practise they will not understand, and you try doing maths you don't understand and see how far you get.

I'm afraid our teachers are the ones who are dumb. Most are in the dark ages when education was religion so "believe student, believe these facts" is their teaching mode. They haven't evolved to "understand student, understand the implications of these facts!" And no wonder they don't get the respect they deserve. I'm more likely to return and say "thank you teacher" to one who taught me to use my brain to understand than one who crammed my head full of notes in a language I don't understand full of words I never heard before and don't know the meaning of and can only hope and pray and have faith I would remember at exams. Except all my remembering is worthless in the end. You, teach, failed me, or gave me a high mark to hide how dumb you are!

Teachers need to go back to school and learn what it means to teach, is the point. Only by their own learning can they ensure I'm an understanding proud to serve compatriot and not a flat earth non-evolving excuse for a biologist that you turned me into!

P.s. I'm sure I paid my school fees on time and in full. I got receipt to prove it too. So gimme my money back, teach! The education you sold me was a dud angry
