Take Judaism for instance. Yet later more recent additions mention a messiah, which in my own opinion contradicts that very verse, though you might yourself not see that a God that refuses to feed me and curses me to be responsible for my own food might also require me to be responsible for my own salvation.

Buddhism teaches The Truth of Suffering (Dukkha). The Origin of Suffering (Samudaya) is caused by craving, grasping, and ignorance. No where does it claim some messiah will come and save anyone, but as I said, some will be blind or lame or deaf or ill and seek messianic solutions, while some will seek to understand what they are told instead of just believing crap that only enslaves them.

The concept of messianism is not accepted by all in the religions you mentioned, and even in Christianity, some know they themselves are the saviour gods who will "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" and be blessed with their own salvation.

Please know that I am having this conversation with you because you hack minds. To me it means you first hack your own mind so as to understand, and have done so regarding religions too.

This depends on understanding, as the concept of messianism is contrary to the same buddhism that suggests that you yourself possess the tools for your own salvation.

I'd even go further and suggest that messianism is a misunderstanding in Christianity, since one is advised to carry ones own cross. My comments in this thread are specifically about the BS line: “you can be anything you want”. It may be said with encouragement and good intent but it is a blatant lie for 99% of the population.

More realistic is “you are free to embark on any path/ endeavors you wish, but there is no guarantee of success or happiness” That brings a reality check and causes the person to ask themselves if this is actually the best path as opposed to leading people astray Pie in the sky dreams. By using the word “can” you are subconsciously assuring them of success even if that path is not for them.

If you recognize someone has the potential in a specific area, you can say “you can be a great actor, lawyer teacher politician” etc but nobody “can” be “anything they want” in any field.

Dude please, no one is stupid enough to believe anyone can be the first lady, since that position is limited in availability! And that's apart from it being a silly thing to want to be instead of president, which could simply be of your own company. And even that is not guaranteed, as there is indeed "no guarantee of success or happiness”. You may want to go live on the moon, for instance, but without the right resources and opportunities and abilities and effort you'd very likely remain on earth.

The fact remains that aspiration and effort for realistic goals would likely move one closer than not aspiring at all, and the "want" in the phrase " you can be anything you want" does imply opportunities and abilities and effort, unless you think it means sit on one's ass and expect it from the gods in the heavens.

Do note that I am not telling Freeze007 that he can be anything he wants to be, since it seems his opportunities are limited. I've even asked him to identify his SWOTs to enable him to set himself realistic goals and aspirations.

In this harsh world we live in you can not even eat whatever you want unless you are prepared to work for it! And even after working very hard for it, you might need to settle for half of what you want, but that would still be much better than having no goals and putting in no effort at all.

In every human relationships involving two humans, there's bound to be one who calls the shots. Although the major religions teach that the man is the head or leader of the family, I believe that the leader or head of a family shouldn't be determined just by sex organs. If the woman is the dominant personality, more educated, smarter, richer etc, she should take the lead and have the man submit to her. If people identify themselves and accept whom they are ie dominant or submissive, we'll have more stable marriages. A smart relationship is that we be equal so our one plus one equals two, while a submissive relationship is one plus half which is one and a half. Think brains. Two is better.
