bemeruca:That's what you see, and I don't see what you see. No parent, black Latin or whatever, would claim asking their child to show their work is white supremacy or any sort of discrimination whatsoever. People just aren't as stupid and ignorant as you seem to think people are. |

What bothers me about this thread is you all will have children you will be responsible to educate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMw6Bj7Idis https://www.britannica.com/science/spherical-Earth

If you bother to read the California Education Code, you'd likely see that no one can teach 2+2=2⅔ to any student even if homeschooled. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codesTOCSelected.xhtml?tocCode=EDC&tocTitle=+Education+Code+-+EDC California Code, Education Code - EDC § 201Immediately after the "with" follows lots of federal and state laws regulating California schools, after which they bother to add except where this chapter may grant more protections or impose additional obligations, and that the remedies provided herein shall not be the exclusive remedies, but may be combined with remedies that may be provided by the above statutes, meaning they will even go further than that if necessary.

bemeruca:This is just dishonest! What you posted was preceeded by the following: We see white supremacy culture show up in the mathematics classroom even as we carry out our professional responsibilities outlined in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). Using CSTP as a framework, we see white supremacy culture in the mathematics classroom can show up when: But you refuse to note what that means and god I don't know why I am wasting my time to be honest.

bemeruca:You understand it to mean that. And what you fail to consider is that these students will eventually sit for Sats where the proper answer is what would enable them to pass. When all these blacks and latinx all fail, would there not be hell to pay and lots of reputations tarnished, or is it your opinion people don't care about their reputation in litigal America where you could likely sue teacher who teaches you 2+2=2⅔? bemeruca:I'm not going to tell you which school anywhere, because that would be as absurd as asking you to show me a school where children are being taught the wrong answers to maths! You must have been to school yourself and noticed at least one kid who was discriminated against and therefore must know "How are kids in the same class learning from the same teacher at the same time getting different teaching" such that they don't get the same education everyone else got. Equity does not only have to mean teacher teaching the same right answers in maths, but also the school providing an equal environment for every child to thrive and don't get black lives mattered or white supremed or anti gayed or anti womaned etc. bemeruca:Sorry if this is what you understand, because nowhere did I say "require Black student and Latin Students to show their work or get the right answer" is "white supremacy", and you thinking I said so just indicates that you are getting the wrong understanding of what you read and are trying to insist that your understanding is what I wrote when it's glaringly obvious it isn't. Reducing standards for blacks and latins, if done, is what idiots would do, and this book is not asking for a reduction of standards for anyone! Parents, black or Latin or poor, I don't think would send their children to substandard schools with substandard grading unless they are substandard themselves. State authorities that are responsible for standards in schools would object to such nonsense even if the school finds teachers stupid enough to condone it and I happen to know that a lot of black people are not substandard and want the best for their children, as do potential employers and even the government that collects tax, but despite all that, you want to believe that anyone is asking for lower standards for blacks and latins. Sorry, but I really can not help you with your reason to think buda wants black and latins to be ignorant when my every day wish is that black Nigerians become more knowledgeable and smarter and wiser. |
IjeBos:Ergo, when buda argues for civility buda is "those in power or privilege to protect the status quo", and buda does not want "incivility will rock their power structure", or does your above need some editing? I don't quite get it. |
bemeruca:Regarding your image, you left out superiority, whereby you pays your monies and get what you buy. After all, America is not a communist country that practices the equity or justice in the image you added. Justice of removing barriers for all would be great but as ideal as a complete capitalist system would be, which is why those who require support in their education should get it, be it extra tutoring or reduced fees and be they black or white, and thankfully America seems enlightened enough to provide both along with healthcare for those who can't afford it. Anyone, however, reducing the pass mark in maths or any other subject for blacks or any one else is trying to enslave those people into mediocrity. And this book is not asking for any such reduction in standards, but for a recognition of why the student got to the wrong answer, which any good teacher would do any way because knowing how and why a student arrived at their wrong answer helps you lead them better to get the right answer themselves.
|
bemeruca:And you don't understand how white supremacy can show up in classrooms or why how one gets even to the wrong answer in maths matters as a learning tool but would rather believe that buda would rather the standard for maths be reduced because you are black? bemeruca, please, if that is what you understand and choose to believe buda believes, then so be it. I myself know the book talks about a lot more than what you understand. We have had the same white supremacy issues where I live whereby black kids were encouraged to become bus drivers and secretarys and nurses while their white classmates were driven to be doctors and lawyers and accountants. Lowering standards for black kids, which is what you understand this book is about, is very different and the opposite of even your "equity in maths" you'd find it you thought about it. Equity means to equally teach the same things the same way to the same standards, while reducing standards for black is its opposite! Are you suggesting buda supports both or might there be something wrong with your understanding? Let me add that I am honoured that what you think buda believes matters and is so important to you, but rather than you using your mind reading skills to read buda's mind I'd suggest you actually ask buda. |

Timesup2345:I tend to attribute the words and actions of people I disagree with to that's their own choice and how they understand things and I don't expect others to see things as I do and nor can I force them to. What concerns me more than the "words and actions of people" is the words and actions of myself buda. Thankfully, rather than accepting equity in knowledge and understanding and moreso it's use, I can strive harder to educate myself so I am at least not mediocre in any. It's not malice, Timesup2345. If I knock on the door of anyone here and say, "I am buda, give me water, let me sit please", none of them would refuse me and only the donkey would I not trust to not poison it, just that facelessness allows many to not have to account for their conduct. In real life they'd have had to adjust or reasonable people would ignore them. |

Maynmann:My teacher Mayn, welcome to the thread. |
bemeruca:No, it is not. So go inside the book and show me where it mentions anything that means this your, "equity in maths". I have posted a link to the book somewhere and if you've really been reading buda you'd find it and post it here showing where you get "equity in maths" from. In fact, bemeruca, forgive me. This is the first I'm engaging with you, so, if you don't mind, can we perhaps start with what equity is? Define equity, please. |
Timesup2345:Timesup2345! You must please state right now how much the plenty money I paid you to say this before I'm accused of alternate monikering myself, lol. Don't you tell anyone please, but reading you say so put water in my eyes. Ever since I registered here I've practised civility knowing the evidence would matter to some whether we agree or not, so thank you very much for being amongst the very few who have fed back they notice and appreciate it. Love one another! They that sayeth they are in the light and hateth another remaineth in darkness. |
Timesup2345:What I regret on Nairaland is that uncivil people tend to dominate conversations on here, and that is why we are finding it so difficult to progress. And indeed that is why America is in the state of regression that it is in and why China is biting at its heels. But I do know that there are individuals like you who see past noise, and that gladdens me immensely and gives me much hope for the future. |
We voted. Someone won. Now some Nigerians are wailing that they are suffering, lol, as if they thought whoever the new president was would put manna in their lazy mouths and are not aware that improving Nigeria requires quite a lot of short term pain and suffering. I am obidient, but I am very pleased with Tinubu so far, especially his fuel and dollar subsidy removals. If Obi had won, I believe you'd all be suffering more, but that suffer is what will get most off their lazy asses so they labour harder and more diligently. All Tinubu should do for me now is remove that stupid NYSC that is subsidising labour so they get to pay such small wages, and I will call him god for the next 4 years! |
Timesup2345:Thank you very much indeed for noticing, Timesup2345. I consider civility to be the basics of maturity and learning, and if I can not control myself and be civil I would be an ignorant immature empty noisy clanging gong. I'm being educated in a thread. It might interest you. |
bemeruca:The book does not push "equity in maths" as you seem to imagine. The book you got it from has the word "instruction" in its title, but I guess some don't even have equity in reading not to talk of the more superior ability to understand what they read. If you did, you'd easily understand that they mean equity in teaching, as in fund schools equally regardless of race, and treat students fairly regardless of their race.

SocialJustice:I once took labourers from my village to go work in my farm. After work, one of the brand new cutlasses was missing not to be found anywhere. Days later one of one of them had stuffed my cutlass in his trousers and stolen it and later returned to the farm to steal my neighbours cocoyam. I have since named him chief jadajada a ji koko, since he is a chief. I want to agree with you that "food security is one of the most important task of a government". We the people must do our bit to secure our food is secure too instead of leaving it all to government. |
bemeruca:I don't want equity in anything that you can go acquire for yourself. Blacks, or anyone who wants equity in maths should go pick up a maths book and study it. Though I must wonder why any one would want equity in anything, as in equal to others, when you can study harder and be superior in maths to others. Most parents don't want equity for their child and that's why they don't send their children to free state schools but pay school fees to buy superiority. As for pronouns, I don't care what pronoun you want to be used to describe you. I can hold conversation with you without finding the need to pronounise you very easily and you can't force me to do otherwise. |
Thegamingorca:Just an observation, considering how much noise he puts up with driving. Wish he wouldn't moan so much too, by the way.

bemeruca:I have far too many blind and ignorant people making unjustifiable claims they lack evidence for, especially those with new monikers who just believe the little over loud magas tell them, so kindly show where you got that buda supports what you claim please so we can see it in context ourselves. |
triplechoice:Link please. |
triplechoice:Go ahead triple. Use the special powers that you must have to log into buda's "account to use it to post something on your behalf" so everyone can see how powerful you are. |

triplechoice:Triple. You can not possibly be the person on Nairaland that reads buda's posts the most. Others read too, and can so easily go verify for themselves if what you claim is true or not. Do know that buda has never ever deleted or reedited any of buda's posts on Nairaland. Add links so those interested can more easily go and look at what you see in context please instead of the snippets you are trying to use to deceive people to believe you. https://www.nairaland.com/5272936/rosicrucian-order-multiple-lies/3#80130215

triplechoice:1. Show every one here where you "tested you in the past and you revealed yourself without knowing" so that everyone can get a first hand hold of the information you "know how to verify as true" please. 2. List the affiliations of buda that you know so everyone else can know them too please. |
triplechoice:You do, triple? Show me where you verified what you see with your own eye that makes you claim buda is a Rosicrucian. |
