AmazonTopaz:Pity its for a week.

22jumpstreet:I wonder what else you think I have been using to educate you thus far, jump. What's obvious is it's far too advanced for you, or you would not be leaving in this rather unseemly manner. Till we meet again, jump. For we most definitely will. |
22jumpstreet:It is rather irrelevant whether Jews recognise it or not, and I do not actually expect them to recognise it since its sort of an exposé of the Jewish texts. The Jews do not recognise the ideology in their book comes out of Egypt neither even though we all can read that Moses was trained in an Egyptian home, and the Israelites themselves were slaves in Egypt for a considerable amount of time and before the books were even written. |
And then his party went on to loot the coffers dry with Nigeria money flying abroad like it did in GEJ's time! |
khia:No khia, this is untrue. What is true is that you do not understand what "that" has to do with the topic. And that's okay because we all are not equally endowed with eyes to see or the comforting of the Holy Spirit. |
khia:Why do you assume to know what I think without asking me? Did Moses write Scripture? Did Adam and Eve write Scripture? Did David write Scripture? Did God write Scripture? khia:I think I am far too careful to justifiably be guilty of that which you accuse me above. You would find, if you go through buda's post, that buda is more likely where necessary, to write that "Jesus is written to have said", since he obviously was not recording what he himself was saying, but if I have left that fact out, kindly accept my apologies and take note. |
22jumpstreet:So, we find something you don't know. It's why you don't understand the New Testament, which is full of Greek Philosophy, while the old testament Jewish began its development in Egypt. Jesus had to be included in the Jewish Scriptures because the Jewish Scriptures were wrongly being used to enslave, as you'd find if you understood what is preached about the Garden of Eden where Adam ignorantly remained in slavery because he feared he would surely die on the day that he ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. While Eve did what Christ later went on to be written to have taught - she used her own senses to test if it is true that she would surely die on the day that she ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or not. There is a reason for writing, "so that it can be said that out of Egypt I called my Son". It's a pointer to where you should ask and knock and seek so that you may understand. And those who read only one book will definitely become malnourished, as in, ignorant. budaatum:For your education, 'Greek Scripture', as in that which was basic required reading, was Homer's Odysseus and Iliad, till they abandoned them for superior texts. And don't you bother informimg me that Adam and Eve never existed, because it is obvious that they couldn't have existed, yet there's a lesson to learn from the story just as there is a lot to learn from the stories of Jesus whether he existed or not. |
GardenOfGod:I think you obviously misunderstood yourself since I'm sure you'd agree the story does clearly exist. |
khia:You don't say! I'm sure you are capable of discerning that the photographer is not the point. |
khia:You mean, what is written in Scripture about worshipping Yahweh, since Yahweh never wrote Scripture? Sorry, but I don't do literal, nor do I have Scripture that "says". A more appropriate question to ask me is, "what do I understand from my reading of Scripture about how to worship the God of Scripture. And my answer again, and with scripture, is: budaatum: |
GardenOfGod:A story we can both pick up a book and read does not exist, Garden? Yesterday, buda flew to the moon and chopped some off and ate it. It tasted like Swiss cheese Then buda flew to Mars and danced with a dandy gentleman. Nice story, right? Now you've read it, do tell if it exists or not, it might help you see who blundered. |
khia:Yes if by Yah you mean God or the general good of humankind. See me way so below and in the Parable of the Orangutan. budaatum:Do not expect those who are priests and Levites to agree however, because they prefer you go to the temple and worship God there for reasons best known.

22jumpstreet:You will find that you actually have to do quite a lot of work to acquire this wisdom you claim God gives people. If that were not the case you would have expected God to have given wisdom to me, or blame God for not giving me wisdom and for the ignorance you claim I have. 22jumpstreet:I did say your next question should be "what is Jesus", but I see you wish to evade that question and discuss a "Jesus" we are yet to flesh out. All the same, I'll help you. "In the beginning was the Logos, and through it all things were made; without it nothing was made that has been made." One can't be a "doctors, nurses, lawyers, psychologist, psychiatrist.. etc" or have wisdom without Logos, which some personify as Jesus. 22jumpstreet:And where has "God already given his laws to guide us and wisdom and understanding to discern them", if not that some have managed to discern them and presented them to us in books for us to read and understand with our own minds? 22jumpstreet:I'm sure it is a sin of some sort to claim your fellow human being is ignorant. It sure is "not in the best interest of the whole" to make such a claim, since it just creates enmity which is a barrier to learning, as you'd find when you start disrespecting and insulting those you converse with. Is it that you lack "the capacity and ability" to have a civilised conversation without being rude, or don't you think it is sinful to call others ignorant without first putting in some effort to understand what it is one is saying?

DissTroy:Sorry diss. I do not share this view. |
22jumpstreet:Funny. Aren't you just repeating what I said with some tiny modifications? In that last sentence of your's for instance, I would say "They are all part of what we humans refer to as God", since I doubt that we humans have any idea of what you refer to as the "totality of the consciousness of the universe". Even the idea of a conscious universe seems alien to me. And I doubt I "did mention that God is consciousness", since that's not my thinking, which is that Gods, along with demons and angels, are human creations, as in, "personifications" as you yourself have called them. Care posting me to where you read me mention this please, as I'd like to see it in context? |
DissTroy:As I said, if we all fart in a stadium our noses might experience some irritation at some point, and if we keep on farting that irritation and is bound to increase. I for one know that the next time you invite me to that stadium where everyone farts, I'd apologise and give it a miss thank you very much, and I'd even not mind if you claim its because I am arrogant. Sorry diss, I just do not see us as "miniscule in the scheme of thing" as you seem to think you are. If this were the religious section, I'd go as far as claiming I look at diss and I see god. The lens that I see through makes you seem much bigger and powerful to me, and I do wish I could lend it you so you too see what I see. A few pages back I argued how powerful we can be to make a difference in Nigerian polictics. No one agreed with me of course, but the same 'we are powerful' applies to our effect on the climate of earth, as far as I am concerned, but do know that I understand some are indeed miniscully powerless. |
HardMirror:Faith may also be had in ones understanding gained from testing what one has developed faith in. I can have faith that the bridge I am about to build will stand for centuries sturdily across the river I build it over because I have studied bridge building and built other bridges and have tested a model of the bridge I am now about to build and seen that it will stand the test of time. I do not merely believe it would stand, I know for absolutely certainty that it will stand, and that's why I have been trusted and commissioned to build it. I can also have faith that if you slap my right cheek and I turn my left cheek to you to be slapped, your hand would tire before you get to the 7 times 70th slap, provided you are not superhuman, of course, because having tested turning the first cheek I have found the slappers usually don't complete the first slap. I've only been slapped once in my life, mind. |
HardMirror:"Faith", a thing one chooses to have (and I say that despite the fact that its like many are infected with it from baby state, yet one has to agree to continue to be infected with it as one grows),"feeds on the basics of our human psychology"? Interesting! Makes me think of my human psychology feeding on myself like some sort of self imposed demon! How so very ignorant of me to destroy myself so! Note the two creation myths in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. One describes the creation of human beings so powerful that they rule over all that is. While the second describes afraid and naked slaves. I think you speak of the Genesis 2 humans, who were enslaved by fear. Those in Genesis 1 are in the image of God. And if you read the Gospels with your own mind, as in without the imposed faith, you'd see that it's sole purpose is to free one from the Genesis 2 state and return one to the Genesis 1 state. Hence, "don't you know that you are gods?" To wit I say, I guess we are gradually finding out. |
Goodvibes007:I had the pollution at Iddo in mind when I wrote that post, and that at the port at Apapa. That port was my first physical introduction to Nigeria, and having experienced the sweet smelling aroma of rotten fruit at every other port along the west coast of Africa, my first response was, "pa, how long do we have to stay at this smelly port?" Imagine my horror when pa said, "this is home, the last port". Then some here people wish to convince me that we have no input to the warming of the earth, as if our pollution is not contributory! |
I kind of feel if every one farts in this stadium of your's we'd all be holding our noses, after all, it's not as if there is any claim that only two of us are warming the globe with our farts. DissTroy: |
22jumpstreet:This is a tough one since it depends on the individuals understanding of the "Jesus story" as Jesus is like the elephant of which we all grab bits and go on to name the whole. For as is written, for the blind, the lesson is to see, for the lame it is to walk; for the leprous it is to be cleansed; for the deaf it is to hear; for the dead, to become alive; and for the poor (in understanding), the good news of the richness of understanding. In a nutshell - as much as one may attempt to place the immenseness of 'Jesus' in a nut shell, which is an error, as it involves the creation of an image; the lessons of the stories of Jesus are that we open our eyes (and all other senses) and learn to use them so that we may know instead of being slaves to those who offer us bread (beliefs) in exchange for our body and soul. P.s. Again, I have failed to answer your question. But I trust that with patience, we may both be able to fish out a more adequate answer. P.s.s. Our next question must be, What is Jesus, for it should have been our first. And please don't say "a story", for that we have already agreed. Oh! And welcome, jump, to your first interaction with buda. May it profit us both by diminishing our beliefs and grow us instead in our understanding. |
22jumpstreet:Hmm. Demons, like most words in this field, are broad in meaning. They could be our thoughts, the one's we are tormented by; they could be that which causes us mental illness; they could be our fellow human beings, the one's that plot evil against us; they could even be ourselves tormenting ourselves. And in context of the verse quoted, they could be beliefs we claim to have but that we do not really have. Take a Christian, for instance, who claims to be protected by Christ but who wails against perceived or imaginary enemies. Such a person would 'tremble' in fear because, despite their belief of protection, they still fear all evils. As I type this, a certain David comes to mind. If you read the Psalms, you might recognised the trembling of a tormented person despite all his believing. The point is that belief is not so advantage as that which many claim it is. You would not build a bridge on mere belief but on actual knowledge if bridge building gained through learning. Nor would all the beliefs on earth put food on one's table and in one's belly less one bolsters such believing with some work which requires knowledge. You may imagine a baker, and consider how many loafs his believing may bake in order to hopefully further understand. But please know that I am not exactly answering your question, for I trust that with some thought on your own behalf, you may be able to answer your own question with greater satisfaction. |
uboma:Do you need to be led to intelligently vote for a legislature that does not rubber stamp? |
DissTroy:So, its true, and at the same time, not true? That's like claiming a river flows regardless of human activity, but I'm sure you'd blame me if I divert it's flow on to your land. Human mitigation includes reducing the human activity that negatively affects the climate, and if we cut down all the trees, or just dump our waste into the ocean, we'd soon know our true "importance in the grand scheme of things". |
22jumpstreet:So too is the tortoise not real when Things Fall Apart, its still a good lesson about greed and selfishness. |
benalvino3:A person who argues that humans have nothing to do with climate change is "told you guys"! |
benalvino3:Yet, human activity is said to deplete it, and human mitigation has reduced it's depletion. |
22jumpstreet:Perhaps by "find", you should think "understand". After all, no one has seen God, and it would be rather remiss to create an image of God for you to find. That said, consider this image of God created by God, whom your doing unto is as doing unto God. Also consider not being a 'Christian', since that implies "belief", which demons tremble for also doing. Seek understanding instead and you might be better off. |
benalvino3:

benalvino3:Hopefully you'll now post the connection between the two, since what you posted connects them |
benalvino3:You need to pay attention. The first was today. Ozone layer success shows climate crisis can be tackled with political willpower: The Yorkshire Post says https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/opinion/columnists/ozone-layer-success-shows-climate-crisis-can-be-tackled-with-political-willpower-the-yorkshire-post-says-3339591 Fixing Old Appliances Can Help Limit Ozone Layer Damage https://www.theexaminernews.com/commentary-fixing-old-appliances-can-help-limit-ozone-layer-damage/ |
khia:Effectively, you will worship God by "PAY IT FORWARD" and "blessing someone else the way I have been blessed", which is precisely what the Samaritan did, and of whom Christ said, "Go and do likewise". One might be inclined to argue that you will therefore never be shaken and you most definitely will dwell in the Tabernacle of the Lord, since you do that which the Lord requires that you do. Hopefully you now see the need for defining worship.
