sampitts: pls guys i want to knw if i can use a foreign bank statement bcose my bro in usa has offered to gv me his. Also is there any disadvantage to using a foreign bs?
de aero: you can get bank statement from pluto, there is no this advantage...but you have to show a ties with ur broda and write a letter stating clearly that you are truly related and strong reasons why he is sponsoring. Make available pictures with him and family.
Well said @de aero.

GboyegaD: Just got another offer from University of Waterloo with a better fellowship than University of Calgary. I'm yet to decide which one to go with however, I think its gonna be Calgary all the way. I am rejecting all my US offers out rightly.
What course are you going for in both schools.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by bumdish: 1:21pm On Mar 05, 2013
bumdish: @deebla, while your approach sounds cool it would result in a natural RED flag. If I where the VO,I would start looking for holes to flaw this move, cos it would be hard to find a father who will deposit such an amount into a child's account well in advance before school starts. What exactly is the father trying to achieve here. If you must go this route, then you should be ready to show that there is nothing obviously abnormal in this move. Like showing that your dad regularly deposits such amount in your account or that he has done something similar in the past and he is willing to do it again or that he has so much money depositing 6M in your account even when you do not immediately have need of it wouldn't hurt his cash flow. And very importantly, you most be ready to show that the money actually moved directly from your fathers account into your own account, meaning you will need to produce your statement as while as your dads' reflecting a synchronization.
In summary, if you ask me, I think it might do more harm than good. Anyhow, that's my thought, you asked for it.
adexcube: I am interested in this issue of transferring the money into the account of the child/student. In my own case, my sponsor is my community and my uncle in my first application that was denied but my uncle will pay for everything, the reason i dint use my uncle alone was because his account wasn't that bouyant then but now he just sold one of his properties worth around 70M. My school fees, accomodation and feeding is 8M and before selling the property he had around 10M in his account. What if he transfers the 8M to my account, i pay full tuition from my account and leave the remaining as accomodation and living expenses in my own account, then get the account details of both mine and his own acct after paying the tuition fees and submit. Any danger in this? Please comment.
That your community arrangement is not the way at all!!!

This your new move sounds cool but the unnatural nature is a downside you may want to consider. You do not want your move viewed as an arangee runs. If I were you, this is the route I would go: Say my tuition is 1M, I would have my uncle issue me a cheque of 1.2M, I get a photocopy of the cheque before I deposit it into my account, hopefully it clears after 2/3days, then I pay my tuition of 1M. I could get another cheque of like 500K from him after a few days, do same thing and leave in my account. (Now I have 700K sitting in my account). At this point, my uncle can than write to be my sponsor detailing the commitments he has made in the past and how he is both able and willing to do more in the future. Then my photocopies and a/c statement would be part of my documentation.

This way, your story sounds believable, natural and at least, there is history and some documentation to back your claims serving a dual purpose of showing your ability to 'fund education in Canada without resorting to working' and your 'home tie'.

I still think, it will be very hard to find a uncle or father who will so naturally deposit 8M into your account for your educational purposes, like 6 months before school starts. It doesn't make business or moral sense to me.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by bumdish:
bumdish: Your packaging looks cool to me. The only thing I can not see here is your employment history. Since you would be getting a letter from your boss, you probably would have filled some employment details in the form. I guess you need to support that claim with some document like an employment letter etc. Also, I would expect to see your account statement showing up here (at least to show your salary income). I hope I am not complicating matters for you sha.

Just an observation for you and others who would subsequently be posting their list of document, please lets apply some discretion. I have edited your post in my quote, you may want to do same to your earlier post. Too much info in a faceless public domain as this is definitley not healthy.
gbesunboke: you made a nide observation my brother .the kind of job i do presently does not fetch me salary every month .i work with an HSE company and the agreement of my job is base on how we work you get your money .but with my Resume i think my employment history we be stated there in my resume but can't provide my account since i don't have enough liquid in the account .
OK, nice explanation but you know that you will not have the opportunity to explain away before a badt VO, hence, you need to go a step further than them. If you can, add your offer letter. Besides, a question just jumped at me; how does your documentation portray you would return to Nigeria after your studies besides the beautiful 'return to Nigeria' story you must have presumably written in your statement of purpose. In plain language, what is your home tie?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by bumdish: 2:45pm On Mar 04, 2013
deebla: Exactly! It is because it is rare for a father to drop such amount of money without fear of the son spending the money that I think its a good idea. I feel it makes it show clearly that they mean serious business and that the money is solely for education in Canada. I feel it will be stated in a letter by the father that the child has mentioned the exact amount needed for the programme hence the fund transfer at one (maybe this is not good enough sha).

In the aspect of showing that he regularly deposit; putting in mind that 6months bank statement is required, what if a related fund transfer only happened in undergraduate days which is 2yrs frm this anticipated PG programme pursuit? What can one do?

And in the aspect of fund transfer synchronization, well, that is a must... Cos its the only proof that it genuinely happened. If the statement of account shows the fund was transferred from the father's account, isn't that not enough proof?
If a Dad has 50M and transfers 6M to a child's account for the purpose of education, then nothing spoil but if a Dad has 10M and deposits a whopping 6M (whopping in relative terms), then there might be room for suspicion. Bros, you too think about it, does such things happen in reality.
I don't mean to say your concept isn't cool but if your dad has enough funds and proof to bank roll your education, then simply list him as such without pushing the envelop too far. Besides, this is simply an opinion, no need to drag it.

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by bumdish:
deebla: Pls house, help me look at this idea in the area of sponsorship. Is it a good idea if, in the case of a parent e.g father sponsoring a child, the father sends like 6million naira to the child's account at once. And then, the father writing a letter stating that he wishes to give all that the child needs at once for the successful stay in Canada. For example if tuition for PG programme plus 10000dols plus flight ticket will amount to about 5.5 million or so?

I just thought of it and I felt it is fair enough. But I need to know the thought of pple who have had the experience, whether it is allowed or not... Bearing in mind that application formats or packaging is not a one-way thing... It could be diverse.

Pls house, ur opinions are welcome

ZionSpecie: Hi all, I av a gud news for y'all. You can actually influence the VO's decision. Yes! Proven way I bring to u. One truth I say: everything dat happens in d physical must hav taken place in d spiritual - whether u'r conscious of it or not. So it's either u take advantage of dis truth and make it happen for u or u jus watch and hope for a positive outcome. I tell u, there's no limit to what u can do in d spirit realm as against d physical realm: u can meet d VO himself on ur knees in ur room or even complete ur uncompleted documents. U can choose those dat will attend to ur papers or even cause dem to be in a haste and thereby ignore som protocols wen attending to ur documents. Believe dis; IT IS POSSIBLE - thru JESUS! I promise to give u a positive outcome soonest cos I just made things happen in d spirit now. What about u?
I think it is better to make our request known to God and submit 'completed documents' while also asking that His will be done. We can not teach God how to perform His miracles. I feel you though.

earthgreeners: Congrat Bro,
Mix feelings in the house...God know best
Serious mixed feelings here!

@all who have gotten their trv, I say a whopping big congrats. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it.

@all who got a denial, I say it is not how far/fast but how well. God knows the circuit of your life.

@all nursing the Canada dream but are incapacitated by one challenge or the other. Sponsor, Finance, Admission etc, I say, keep your dreams alive and keep working at it.The future belongs only to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

@all awaiting a feedback. Admission, Medicals, Supervisor, TRV etc, I say hope and pray, God answers prayers. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.

@all at the verge of application submission, I say be diligent. Learn from the errors of other, be optimist yet be real. Seek wise counsel, ask questions. Put yourself in the position of a saddist VO and do the 3 way test.
1. Will this applicant want to return after studies.
2. Will this applicant not resort to working in Canada in-order to pull through school and
3. Are there any credibility holes.

@all offering help and solution on this forum, I say keep up the good work. The God who sees what your are doing in secret, will reward you openly.

Finally and like you know, Canada is a great place but it is a dustbin compared to what heaven would be. How much preparatory effort are you putting into your final destination.

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Ethiopia : Who Is Your Man Of The Match? by bumdish: 9:41pm On Jan 29, 2013
In order of performance

1. Victor Moses - Single handedly took Nigeria to the Quarter finals
2. Efe Ambrose - Did his job and the job of whoever played 10
3. Kenneth Omeruo - Did his job well and made efforts at goal when the attackers where no where to be found
4. Godfrey Oboabona - Solid defender, retired Yobo
5. Emmanuel Emenike - Nice efforts, Keshi's lone ranger formation without ball supply is so frustrating.
6. Vincent Enyeama - That save was one too many.
7. John Mikel Obi - Messed up passes. Average performance though
8. Sunday Mba - Disappears and only shows up when there is a ball to be ballooned
9. Fegor Ogude - Not sure of his role
10.Elderson Echiejile - Great potentials but has refused to grow
11.Ikechukwu Uche - No wonder he has always been a reserve player
12.Ideye - No comment
13.Yobo - Name synonymous with last minute goals. I beg, bring in on only @ 90 + 2mins
-1. Musa - Football has plunged. OMG!

@earthgreeners, I think anyone who has cursed you after taking a decision that turned sour based on some of the useful, kind and good intentioned information you have made available on this forum has only done a wrong thing.

This information is purely based on a personal experience and was not generalized in any way. Like most other info here, only a glutton would consume everything on a faceless forum and swallow hook, line and Sinker and am sure most Nigerians are smarter than that. Even the owners of the business will tell you "Terms and Conditions apply". @earthgreeners, this is simply a customer review, it is not a binding contract.

bumdish: I am yet to make my trip and I would be glad to share a first hand experience as soon as possible.
I actually share your sentiments but the result of my online reviews shows that their service isn't too different from what you obtain from big name flyers. Beside, I understand they are currently the best in Africa (even better than South African Airline) and they use a 777 for their Canada/Lagos route.
In my opinion, the guy that requested for the cheapest fare is probably more bothered about the Cost than the Luxury or travel time, so far his safety isn't threatened and I believe alot of guys out their share the same interest.
Fulfilling my promise of giving a first hand info about my Ethiopian Air experience, I would do a comparison btw Lufthansa(L) and Ethiopian Air(E) based on my experience on both airliners plying same route. No marketing or de-marketing intended. Just my personal observations.

Hours in Air : L - 15.25 hr | E - 17.30 hr #Lufthansa wins
Connecting flight waiting time : L - 6 hr | E - 30 mins #Ethiopian clear winner
General state of airplane : L - 9/10 | E - 9/10 #No clear winner
Baggage size : L - 2 * 23Kg | E - 2 * 23Kg #No clear winner
Air Hostess : L -Just there | E - Super beautiful African queens #Ethiopian clear winner
State of Airport : L - Frankfurt airport was squeaky clean and fully functional | E - Bus terminal for Canada better pass am. Maintenance na the issue. But 10X better than MMA Lagos. I felt I entered a hole the moment we arrived in Naija. Na standing fan we get for our Arrival terminal *SMH* #Lufthansa clear winner
Meal : L - I think we took 3 meals, so so coffee and broccoli | E - 4 nice meals. I even requested for an extra meal and was gladly given #Ethiopian clear winner
Personalized Entertainment : L - only Touch Screen | E - Touch screen and buttons with Nollywood channel) #Ethiopian wins
Cost : #Ethiopian clear winner

All things being equal, I guess I have my preference already.
