Henkyz: @All,pls can I get a phone of my choice there in Toronto and at a cheap or ok price?.or should I get it here in naija..I would advise you arrive in Canada before you buy your phone. The reason being that different telcos operates on different frequency e.g Telus & Bell are on UMTS/HSPA 850MHz and/or 1900MHz, while WIND uses a frequency called AWS, with bands 1700/2100. Hence, the phone you would use must be compatible with the network you would eventually subscribe to. Yes, I know it is strange but there are lots of strange things here (TAX is number 1). Also, new phones are not exactly cheap in Canada and if you would be working with a tight budget, you may want to check out http://www.factorydirect.ca/ . You can get (overstocked/liquidation/factory repaired) phones, laptops etc here at very nice prices and with some form of warranty/return policy. |
Please try Diamondbank. Are you kidding me. I get my funds to the other part the globe in less than 6 hrs, I have tried it time and time over. You can do that on your bed or in any of there outlets. |
iluminati: Pls who knows the cheapest local flight in Canada from Toronto to Newfoundland St. john's for one going to Memorial University. AirCanada is too expensive. About 350 dollars. Pls who can recommend cheap local flights in Canada?Use http://www.farecompare.com . You would get lots of options to pick from. Which particular airport in Toronto are you looking at and is there any particular date in mind? |
spencer3705: all,What are those things(suporting doxz) i need to show at port of entry?and wat are d questns to be expected if any?:-)In addition to @Siga & @Earthgreener, the POE experience is never the same for any two entrant. In my own case, I handed in my Passport and the next moment, I was handed back my passport with the permit on top. So generally, you don't have any problem. Just have your docs handy. You can not be asked anything outside the ordinarily. Also, at the customs, my luggage was not checked. I was only asked if I have any fresh livestock in my bag and I answered No but just to be sure, I told the officer I have dried fish (Aja Gbigbe) and Grounded crayfish (Ede) , She simply smiled and said no problem. Some of the best things I came with Garri Ijebu (Happy I came with this) Dried Fish and Crayfish (If you are my type, you wouldn't regret it) Kuli-Kuli (I just finished it though) Tom Tom sweet(So I can keep my Nigerian Taste bud and to give my Nigerian pals here cos we dont do chocolate in Naija) Dried Ugwu and Dried Bitterleaf (For my Ofe Onugbu stunts, learnt that during NYSC) Grounded Pepper - Ata gigun (Key) and Grounded Melon (Shokoyokoto things) |
wuralulu: Marriage cert of my parents?dey r in dere 70s,can dey even find dat one sef, landed properties of my parents even if dey are not my sponsors?birth certs is also an issue,my dad is a retired career ambassordor, most of my siblings were not born in Niga,am planning to indicate dat some of dem who live abroad live in Niga in my form sef,so adding birth certs no go favor me,abi? newacca: @Wuralulu,@newacca I thought I was the only one stunned. @Wuralulu, I can say almost in absolute terms that you don't need those documents you listed. Parents Marriage Cert., Parent/Siblings Birth Certificate!!! I think it is an overkill and you might be adding extra layer of workload on your application. Am yet to understand what those documents are supposed to serve especially when CDHC did not even request for them whether specifically or implied. Remember, your application should be a cogent, authentic, impressive, straight to the point story. Please don't make it boring. |
wemi85: @ all. Please my friend has collected his medical instructions. The two conditions were one year tuition and he should also pay for board. He is already sorting out the tuition but the problem with the board is that his school George Brown College does not offer on campus accommodation just homestay for anyone who is interested. His parents have two family friends that live in Toronto about 45mins from the school. They are both willing to give him a letter to CDHC saying he can stay with them, send their lease agreement and any other document necessary. My friend will also write a letter to CDHC explaining that his school does not offer on campus accommodation. What do you guys think? Is that a good alternative? Please i need answers oh, his 30days deadline has started counting. Thanks.... Siga: ....Yea...George Brown is located downtown and nothing like that....he can use the family friends lease and all.....also, advise him to call the school and have them may, not sure, may be write a letter stating there is no boarding on campus....Wonderful move your friend is making already, very nice suggestion from Siga and just to add on top, I would have advised your friend to mails the school instead of calling, he can then add the email correspondence to the other documents he is sending to CDHC. That way, his calms would have more validity. Let him also look around for any credible information on the internet (say, the school's website) showing there isn't any accommodation on-campus, print and attach. Good luck |
newacca: With God on our side,we are forging ahead. All those that have gotten their visa. Congrats. I wish u all d best out there. All those that are awaiting medical and those that have done medicals and r awaiting visa,God that started it will complete his good work. Those that were refused, try again in a different way. Delay is never a denial. Try Plan B if you have. but bear in mind that God has better plans for everyone.Your spirit inspires. God will perfect what He has started in your life. |
Lord Siga. I can not but acknowledge your sacrificial inputs here. You can trust Nigerians na, we like giving people title . . . Bros Siga, Oga Siga. I kukuma add my own "Lord Siga". . You sound simple, sincere and down to earth and am sure you would prefer to be simply addressed by your name: Siga. - JTOL |
ezme: Australia seems to be a very good option that we could consider, but if you watch Animal Planet/Discovery/National Geography, you would be dead scared of living there. You can't go camping, swimming or doing any other fun outdoor activity. The most dangerous specie of most animals are found there.I could not but LOL at this. People leaving abroad would probably think Nigeria is a experiencing dooms day already then. At least 3 Australian cities shows up amongst the world's 10 most livable cities. Don't be afraid to explore YOUR world |
bumdish: Try Ethiopian air, they are super cheap. I luckily found them when my hope of making it to Naija to enjoy Christmas was dangling cos of high fare, but they came to my rescue. So I am happy to advertise them. mercylicious: How much did u pay? Was it one way or to&fro?1. There is virtually NO available space on the likes of KLM, Lufthansa etc for the Christmas/New year period. They have been fully booked 2. I would need to pay up-to N150,000: 00 to change my return date to this period on Lufthansa. So be conscious of the return date you select just in case you might need to use it. Rescheduling is more like a rip-off. 3. The fair for airline that will not transit the US ranges from between N420,000 to N700,000 and you would be lucky to get a favorable date combination. I would rather buy a land in Mowe 4. My darling Ethiopian air offered me N288,000 return and you would certainly get a better deal if you are not traveling at this peak period. |
bumdish: Try Ethiopian air, they are super cheap. I luckily found them when my hope of making it to Naija to enjoy Christmas was dangling cos of high fare, but they came to my rescue. So I am happy to advertise them. Fhemmmy: They are cheap, how about their service? Tried it once but that was like 8 years ago and i WILL NEVER TRY IT AGAIN!I am yet to make my trip and I would be glad to share a first hand experience as soon as possible. I actually share your sentiments but the result of my online reviews shows that their service isn't too different from what you obtain from big name flyers. Beside, I understand they are currently the best in Africa (even better than South African Airline) and they use a 777 for their Canada/Lagos route. In my opinion, the guy that requested for the cheapest fare is probably more bothered about the Cost than the Luxury or travel time, so far his safety isn't threatened and I believe alot of guys out their share the same interest. |
iluminati: iluminati: Hello house, pls who knows the most affordable flight to Canada. That my cousin has collected his TRV yesterday and he is going to Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada. Pls drop an advise on flight to use and approximatelt the air ticket flight. Thankss....Try Ethiopian air, they are super cheap. I luckily found them when my hope of making it to Naija to enjoy Christmas was dangling cos of high fare, but they came to my rescue. So I am happy to advertise them. |
kayce43: Thnks for sharing broda, itz only fair we give back to nairalanders after we get positive results by listing documents submitted , let's not allow this trend of listing documentz die plz, it alwayz helps trust me. Sometin I noticed if u are very observant, seems wen u hav some1 datz like a relation or just some one they feel will be credible in canada datz ready to give u total support, they seem to respond well to that, Jesus4all is a typical example even though if u notice, he dint rili hav all they required of him, yet he was still called for medicals and one other fella I noticed here, can't rili remember his name, itz just a food for thought sha, some one might need this info.@kayce43, your assumption is quite valid but I don't think it should be over emphasized. CDHC checks your adaptability level to the Canadian system and having a family member already on ground who could assist you in integrating into the society gives you a good rating on this point but like I said earlier, there are more important things to worry about. |
Sir P!:Brother, we thank God. How are you too. |
iluminati: HI ALL, THE TUITION FEE WE TRANSFERED TO MEMORIAL UNI IN CANADA SINCE LAST WEEK TUE WHICH IS EXACTLY ONE MONTH HAS NOT GOTTEN THERE AAND EMBASSY GAVE US JUST ONE MONTH DEADLINE TO SUBMIT RECEIPT PLS THOSE THAT HAVE PAID THEIR TUITION FEE, HOW LOND DID IT TAKE BEFORE YOUR SCH CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED IT? What do u advised us to do in thin case cos time is no more on our side. This is a priority for you, it mostly likely isn't a priority for the guys processing your financials in the school. I would advise you do some serious followup. You can contact the appropriate office by email, providing your details and stressing the urgency. Best of favors |
lovesavvi: @mr siga, i was refused based on dis following point. I am nt satisfied dat u av sufficient and available financial resources, without working in canada . Nt satisfy dat u av sufficient nd available financial resources, without working in canada to maintain urself and any family members who are accompanying u durin ur proposed period of study. U av nt satisfy me dat u would leave canada at d end of ur stay.in reaching this decision,i considered several factors, including 1, ur travel history, 2 purpose of visit. Am confused about dis decision becos my sista is my sponsor with 9.2 million in her acct. I did nt filled anyting dat anybodi is accompanying me during my study. It is compoulsory 2 av travel history b4 u can apply 2 canada. Also my purpose of visit is 2 study. I welcom anybody advice in dis thread.i wil stil 4ward d refusal letter 2 ur mail 2moro becos i dnt av scanner here. ThanksHi lovesavvi, so sorry for the temporary setback. To the issue at hand, You need to have it behind your mind that the VOs are trained to read in-between lines and most importantly to treat all applicant as intending immigrant. So it is the job of every applicant to convincingly proof beyond all doubt reasonable that their intention is to study and come back to their homeland even though they know you have a 90% chance of not coming back but its a condition you must fulfill. I would advice you look critically at your application and work at convincing yourself and any other person that your application will always pass any litmus test. These guys work strictly on rules and they rarely bend it. Every alien (other than a nonimmigrant described in subparagraph (L) or (V) of section 101(a)(15), and other than a nonimmigrant described in any provision of section 101(a)(15)(H)(i) except subclause (b1) of such section) shall be presumed to be an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the consular officer, at the time of application for a visa, and the immigration officers, at the time of application for admission, that he is entitled to a nonimmigrant status under section 101(a)(15) This is the US version of the Requirement to overcome presumption of intending immigrant clause. Also note that making a 1st class and having 100M in a/c isn't a guarantee at all. Your application package is meant to tell a story about your past, your present and a future. All must connect adequately like all the joints on 3rd mainland bridge. I have had to access my application the first time I wanted to apply, and I told myself, something isn't adding up so I retreated, deferred my admission and reapplied the following year. Looking at your the first point I am nt satisfied dat u av sufficient and available financial resources, without working in canada You said your sister was your sponsor: Where you able to adequately establish the relationship? Do you have legally admissible documents backing the relationship. Are there complimentary evidences such as photos or stuffs like that. Did she write you a sponsorship letter, is the letter carrying the necessary legal jargons, How steady is her income, What is her cash flow like, who are her dependencies, is she married? Is she in employment and did you prove that. Is she self employed and did you prove that. Did you establish what her interest is or what she stands to benefit from sponsoring you. Has she sponsored you on anything before On your traveling history question. Having a GOOD traveling history is definitely an added. Emphasis on GOOD. It tells a lot about your past and what you are capable of doing in the future but it is also definitely not a must have at least based on my experience. The farthest travel I had made was a trip Ghana as at the time I applied. You see, there is plenty things to critically consider on all aspect of your application but grammar too plenty for newspaper, I don tire but I hope you get my drift. Happy Sunday. |
Noswaa: Well visit visa is not always required for medicals but i wish you success and pray that it is your TRV but try and let us know how it goes. GoodluckHello Noswaa, How is it going? |
Been away... ABMONEY got busted. Sorry to bring this up again but couldn't help laughing out loud. @justwise, excellent job you did. @abmoney, I heard you are number 2 in the hall of shame. @seir405 & @mercylicious, una two get eagle eye. Too sharp. My Advice @abmoney, The past is never dead. @all, Lets not be like a fish so hungry it swallowed the hook |
niyimeg: please house....my parents dont have a landed property and also my dad works in an hotel of about 350k a month,my mum just sold one of her fathers" house.....please what are the chances of being granted a study permit with the following.... spencer3705: issues are,dad works in an hotel and earn 350k per month without landed property.2 mum is a civil servant and at d same time a full house wife.3 parent does nt have landed property and at d same time mum got a land bought smtimes ago,4 dad with 7m and mum with 5m from d proceed of family house? My question is dis, is your mum the only child of her parent for her to sell the family house?UR CASE TO ME IS UNBELIEVABLE AND DOESNT DESERVE AN ANSWER.@spencer3705, I would advice you take it easy, I think the emboldened statement is unfair. @all, This forum as done wonderfully well so far and the possibilities are still abounding. Lets keep it issue focus, devoid of jabs and all, yabbing muscles can be flexed in the political section if it is so desired. It is discouraging to come here with the intention of learning or being helpful only to meet all sorts, including birthday wishes request. @niyimeg, your parent's fund sounds quite much and there is not rule saying your sponsor must have landed properties before they would be able to sponsor your education however, you have to be able to show/prove that in terms of Actuals and on a Regular basis, their liquid or near liquid asset is able to cater for your expenses with crippling their other commitments or leaving you in a situation where you would have to resort to working in Canada in other to pay your bills |
seir405: @bukahands there is no problem if ur referee can fill it out because of space limitation, just get a get a letter from them with their letter-headed signed by them and send it to memorial university, better still you can mail: krista shea, with this kshea@mun.ca From more information on this.she's an application officer there mercylicious: I think there is a prob wit dt.For @bukahands: @seir405, nice idea but I would advice you stick with @mercylicious's advice 100% |
adexcube: Pls house I want to know this, when you are called for medicals, do they return your original documents at that time or they still hold on to it until it is approved?Your originals will be returned to you only after your case have been concluded not after medicals. |
Great Job guys. More TRV in the next few days. Yours shall be amongst. Say a loud AMEN.https://yoursmiles.org/msmile/pozitive/m1244.gif |
Hi all, My advice for those comming to Canada. Grab a programming skill if you can. JAVA, C++/C, C#, .net, Python, PHP. Arranged in the order of Job availability. Any of the first 3 most importantly. You would thank God you took to my advice. Cheers all. |
I arrived in Toronto today. Glory to God. @ all in waiting, God Almighty will answer your prayers. @ ifegy, count me in. God bless everyone. |
shavel: @sir p, abeg I need the cheapest flight to Winnipeg Manitoba for 25th of aug,,,,,,,,,,quick response please!check wakanow.com |
justwise: That is being done here in NL already, Mods do send warning messages which appears on your front page in red. This una customer service wey honest advice is greeted with the bolded. God help unna |
justwise: That is the only way of stopping that person from posting that material again, i can't keep hiding people's post because it doesn't look good when people keep seeing hidden posts.I totally agree with the fact that the sanctity of Threads must be kept, the "Hidden Post" thingy is also very annoying as readers become even more curious to know what the Moderators are hiding. You can imagine what facebook would have become by now if you keep seeing "Hidden Post" on comment threads or some dude issuing out a profile deletion threat. I had rather that posts are secretly hidden while the poster is privately engaged by the way of email , some red alert message on the individual's profile or outright profile deletion if need be. Same thing goes for threads closure, participants should be pre-informed by email or something else rather than the rude red THREAD CLOSED stamp. Nairaland has done well, guess it time to make the system even more intelligent. |
This Nairaland is just too funny. You get to read the most laughable things on the internet here. ![]() Beats my imagination Nigerians would troop to National Theater waiting to be air lifted to Canada. Are u kidding me? Na hajj?? @Bakorede - Am sure you would't blame the house for the apathy towards this "AGENTS" thingy. One whose father was struck in the head by a bullet uses an iron pot to make himself a helmet. @justwise - Great work you are doing here sir. I hope the reward is handsome too. My small advise; while you go about doing this brilliant censoring task, I do not think "ID Withdrawal" threats should be a tool ready for early deployment at the slightest provocation. @all TRV hopefuls - Please keep keeping on, it is nearer than you can imagine. |
J20: Please can someone tell me if the pre-paid return courier envelope can be obtained at VAC office or does one need to get one from any courier office prior to submission? The pre-paid return courier envelop is not required if you are submitting through VAC. It would not even be collected from you. Mine is constituting garbage at home. So save your money to buy some ice cream at the Ikeja mall. |
, She simply smiled and said no problem.
