Does anyone have an idea of how/where to obtain Police Clearance Certificate in Port-Harcourt. Your prompt lead will be highly appreciated.

Really don't understand what the disappointment is all about. Keshi obviously used his best available players in the first half and only used the second half to test few other players. The performance I see today gives me even more reasons to believe in Keshi and the future of the Super Eagles.

Maximip: @sampitt, @2-chains, trying to use the online system and I've been getting "bad gateway", "Error 502" error for about 2 days now when I try to upload. Did you guys experience similar?
Two things you need to do:
1. Reduce the size of the file you are trying to upload
2. Use a faster internet access
You will be fine.

Godrock: Please guys, I will be submitting my application this week. My Sponsor is my Father's friend and He will be using His company account. And my Father will be droping a land propt. But we don't have CofO yet. And if we start processing it, it can't meet up my visa application. But we have the Agreement doc - Agreement between Buyer and the Seller. I have been lectured by friends but I need to ask here... Please Help me... I don't want to be denied again oooo..... Abeg...
Based on a first hand experience, I would advise you to go ahead with the agreement document and probably a receipt. If you don't have the C of O at this point, then don't bother. Just be sure whatever document you are using is authentic. Goodluck

de aero: umm deducting from what oga xtus asked....please is it compulsory to to submit all your siblings cert. Plus ur parents marriage cert.?ifyes, Is there anything you can improvise with if you don't have those docs?
It is not compulsory however, it could come under supporting documents especially if your are trying to prove/show/emphasize something not generally obvious. For example, if you are trying to accentuate a relationship to your half brother/sister or if your sponsor is your maternal uncle and you want to highlight that he shares the same surname with your mums maidens',then you can think of adding those document otherwise, na excess luggage.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by bumdish:
xtus: To all the oga @ the top....... Abeg this question came up on our small travel to canada BBM Group.

Which of the birth certificate is best to submit to CDHC, is it the one issue by the hospital where u were given birth or the one obtain from NPC?

All suggestions and inputs are welcomed. Thanks
I attached an affidavit to the photocopy of my birth certificate cos' I lost the originals, even though someone who was more experienced profusely advised I get the NPC version for my Canadian application; in the end, I was good to go. In my opinion, documents to be used should be as natural as possible. The moment you start cooking documents here and there, you give the examiner more reasons to look more closely. In summary, if the certificate issued by the hospital is the one the person have been using all along and is recognized by law, then please use otherwise the person may go for the NPC version. No wahala

Hi Ogas/Madams,
Through with exams and I would like to visit Toronto for some sight seeing, at least to replace some hair I lost this last few weeks. Never really been to Toronto except for 2 trip to Pearson Airport from my location which is about 1hr drive from Toronto. I wouldn't mind spending a day or two in Toronto. I would be glad to have some head-up.

Foreign AffairsRe: Boston Bombing Culprits Found (PHOTOS) - Photos Now Known As Inaccurate by bumdish: 10:03pm On Apr 17, 2013
Na Laugh: These photos of "Culprits" and content of this thread is only online vigilante-style investigation currently underway on the internet (which is fine) provided they are only treated as leads and not conclusive 'evidence'.

DO NOT SPREAD RUMORS. Investigation is in progress, and authorities are yet to put out concrete statements on any leads, so everything contained in this thread = speculation.

I live here in Boston, and the events are sad, but it does not help the situation to go on Nairaland declaring 'culprits found' prematurely.
Exactly!!!!

I am so ashamed at the level of reasoning going on the forum, it shows exactly the level of depth around here. Check out the extent of intellectual discussion going on in America with people picking all kinds of holes in the set of pictures, driving their investigators to do even more. All we can do here is to hail Obama and jump to lame conclusions. People are not even taken there time to analysis this images, its like we are used to been fed with all kinds of junk. No thoroughness.

jeffizy: For those that dont know,

it's a believe in some parts of Nigeria ,that when a baby falls from his/her mum's back, such baby ,either boy or girl, will witness the death of 7 spouses in his/her adulthood!

@op, ...The mind is a very powerful tool. You control it ,not the other way around.
If you believe in the sacrifice , you have nothing to worry about. Just believe it will work for you.

I've heard a lot of tales about this myth, but i PERSONALLY believe it was founded just to keep the mother alert at all times when backing her baby.
It is well.

lafflaff123: Laugh catch me when i see some comments about wetin i write.

Anyway to the first idiot wey say i dey pose because i no need landing card and if my mama teach me not to read other people messages,na illiterates like you i like to meet in person.

If you had any iota of intelligence in your head, then you should have seen where i clearly stated the fact that she kept the phone on my arm rest while turning to my right it was there, open and since i am not blind of course i will read.

Remember i did not touch her phone and she picked it up where she left it(my space)and to say i am a racist?i am assuming you meant a tribalist?right?was born, bred and still live in Yorubaland when i am around and the only i specifically mentioned her tribe YORUBA,was because the Yoruba's are known for respect for elderly people,so her character baffled me.

Do you think the old man was stupid and did not know the girl's display of stupidity was all because of him?how would you feel if a girl called your dad a SMELLY OLD MAN?and you expected me to be all smile with an uncouth low life?and yes i rememeber because it happened last year and if you are that intellectually bankrupt not to remember things in details from even twenty years ago, then you have the right to be where you are in life now.

As stated earlier, i have a soft spot for elderly people and was brought up to be very respectful to them and i really find it disturbing when i see people treating them with disregard.

To the other idiot who said i have not seen a plane but from hollywood movies. To you i will not even didnify you with an answer.

To the Poster, you see a lot of things travelling and some you will find unpalatable but it comes with the territory and this is not synonymous to Nigerian travellers alone.

Some of my experiences:

Oyinbo pikin sitting close to me some years ago for some where in Europe vomit for my body,i understand say some pikin body dey get as it be when in flight and when them dey on full stomach.

A Nigerian lady with her daughter were sitting close to me on a trip to Nigeria from Paris. Lady stood up and told me excuse me as she wanted to walk pass my sit to use the rest room and as she squeezed pass me i noticed there were blood stains on her white trousers. I brought it to her notice and she sat down quickly, called the Air France hostess, whispered something into her ears and the air hostess gave her the neck scarf she had and went and brought something for her.

The lady went to the rest room, came back and thanked me very much,i could go on with my experiences on air but that na HANDOUT.

When i travel i put my mind on getting to my destination, what business i am going for and most importantly praying to get there safely(THE BEST PLANES THIS DAYS DEY FALL ENTER RIVER)instead of make i dey look wetin other people dey do.

@Poster no dey find fault for Naija people.
Bros, we get your point, but you erred the moment you started raining curses on the lady, you erred the moment your tribalisic comment exposed your real sentiments, your 'holy pass' gave you away.
Almost certainly, the young lady and the old man would have moved on with their lives and probably wouldn't even remember this incident you just graphically recalled. My advise to you is to move on and not allow yourself to be held down in the mucky waters of tribalism, disgust, hatred and forgiveness. This statement "And that YORUBA GIRL if you are reading this and on NAIRALAND i say again people will run away from you too when you get old. " is too much for your mouth. Are you God!

adaobi123: That's the point of the thread. Talking about your experiences flying with fellow Nigerians. It's ain't easy tongue
LOL

Can't someone just make a point without saying.
"In December 2000, I alongside my dad and siblings"
"I was once on a Delta flight from ATL to LAG for 12 hours"
"My flight from Italy to Nigeria (Alitalia) was easily one of the more "interesting" flights I've flown"
"I have taken flight between different countries and all those things are there, apart from number 2. 3 weeks ago I flew Lufthansa from Munich to Helsinki"
"I will never forget my experience on-board Emirates airline in October 2006. The Lagos-Dubai and Dubai-JFK flights "

Naija, we too like to dey show grin

WebmastersRe: Nairaland's New Background And Layout Style by bumdish: 12:54pm On Mar 23, 2013
onegig: Yeah.. Good observation.

The old style was kinda too wide in terms of the content area... If you used a system with a wider screen you would have to be staring at long lines of text but this makes it much more readable.

Also Seun. Maybe on weekends you can sell the background image space for some more money. There's nothing stopping you from monetizing the site to its fullest.
Please don't monetize any background. That is one of Yahoo's biggest mistake. Yahoo lost sight of what their visitors wanted to what the corporations wanted. Now they are paying for it.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by bumdish: 1:37am On Mar 16, 2013
GboyegaD: Fhemmy, what reasons do you think a family friend can put to show he is willing to spend so much amount on one? I think these guys are still too laid back in their thoughts because an average person who knows about the Nigerian culture knows we have too many uncles and aunts that are not in any way related to us. I remember whenever I applied for my US visa, all I told the VO was that my aunt is sponsoring and I gave him her account statement lo ba tan. I just find it annoying when people get scared because their sponsor isn't bearing same last name with them or they cannot show any deep relationship with the person. The worst is that people suggest the use of pictures. Can't I use someone else's picture with mine and claim that is the uncle or aunt?
Fhemmy, as a Veteran on this thread, I would suggest you help address the issue to allay the fears of those whose sponsors are not their parents. In my opinion, I would advice such person to state in the sponsorship letter that the person is a distant uncle/aunt depending on the gender or you could say he/she is a 2nd cousin to your dad/mum who was responsible for his education and the only way he felt he could compensate them is to sponsor you since he saw that you are a promising child.
While we await Fhemmmy's input, here is my opinion.

It is better to put ourselves in their position than expecting it the other way. From their perspective, it might be tricky to accept that a relative is sponsoring you abroad for educational purposes. The question we might need to answer is "where has he/she been all your life/What does he/she stands to benefit from your endeavor/What are his/her financial capabilities/Does any history support his/her present decision" and I believe these questions should not simply be answered by writing a super story. A documentary evidence substantiating your story (history/case) will go a long way. You do not want to rule it out that there are data or policy supporting their action for this category of applicant hence, the onus is every applicant to prove to a reasonable extent that the promises are not BOGUS.

Disclaimer: This is simply an opinion. Also, exception exists for every rule.
CareerRe: Gtb Or Diamond Bank? by bumdish:
With all sense of responsibility, I would prefer DiamondBank. I worked in one and my spouse worked in the other but we have both left the industry for better opportunities. So I can say I have insider information in both.
Current pay package - DiamondBank is far ahead.
Reputation - GTB is far ahead.
Bank Growth potentials - Diamondbank is currently taking some giant stride but GTB is still the Industry leader.
Staff Promotion - Diamondbank is just a bit ahead. Promotion things is now becoming like a Carmel passing through the needles eye in GT.
Staff Welfare - Diamondbank is miles ahead. Better package, Staff bus in Head-office, Profit sharing, more staff loan options etc
Stress - It depends on your location/boss but I think the culture in Diamondbank is better.
Tribalism - So far you are in Nigeria, you should be ready to live with favoritism.
Job security - Both banks can be tricky.

Overall, if you want to pride in working for an industry leader and probably use the bank as a launch pad for better opportunities, go with GTB but if you want to grow with a bank and probably have a better personal net worth go with Diamondbank.

GboyegaD: Economics - PhD.
Alberta region seems to be where most people are headed to after schooling in Ontario. Job and Residency seem generally favorable over there.
For Academics, it is a general saying that you must be very good to be admitted into UWaterloo and you must be very very good to graduate in UWaterloo. So if you enjoy some badt mathematics, then come to UWaterloo.

I still await response from Manitoba and Saskatchewan....
Try to read through the profile and papers of your prospective supervisors. Most of them use master's students to build their own profiles and help with their own research hence your interest/experience should normally align with theirs . You may also want to mail current or past students especially research students in your department for insider hints. Reason being that some Profs might be going on sabbatical or short on funding whereas some other may actually be in need of students and are ready to fund them.
