Okija_juju: Ethiopia had a good plan coming into the match.. They had the home advantage (and I'm not talking of just fans), I'm talking terrain, altitude and weather.

The Nigerians being professionals knew this and had a counter strategy.. Soak up the pressure, allow them tire out and hit them when they're at their weakest.

Their plan failed because Nigeria didnt start running until the 65th minute. If you think the eagles played badly, you are right. But from a technical point of view, it was brilliant strategy that worked..

Ethiopians should wait for the second leg.. We go treat this their Bleep up for calabar..
Your analysis appears superficially plausible, but actually very wrong. You couldn't have planned to wear out a people known for their marathon expedition in a match of 90mins. It was Emenike & "Luck" that swung that match in our favour, nothing more, nothing less.
The Nigerian team I saw yesterday made every effort to make impact from the first minute but just couldn't. The wrong moves and weak passes Musa, Odunamadi, Moses, Mikel kept making couldn't have been a strategy . . no way. Where the purposeless dead balls also part of the strategy?

@topic,
Africa...a people known not to be gracious in defeat. . . useless exaggerated patriotism. Part of the reason democracy seem impractical in Africa.

No story, remove Mikel and Musa/Odunamadi, replace with Ogu and Nwofor. Mikel is way too slow, Nwofor is more goal minded

Although I had decided to reduce my activities on Nairaland to read-only due to personal reasons, I could not but log-in to participate here.

My mum's demise will be a year in a few weeks time but its fresh like a few hours ago. The only times I remember shedding tears in decades was when she died and a few minutes ago reading other peoples stories bring the incident of last November back to memory in vivid images. As a matter of fact, I just woke up from sleep where I saw her give me some very important advises on some key issues.

, Yeye omo, Maami, Mummy mi, your death was a loss to me but a gain to the heavens. God gave you to us at His time and He also took you at His time, I love you but God loves you more. Kabiyesi orun needed you for a greater assignment and I surrender to his will.

... my people, the truth is that this world is not our home...we are just passersby

omiobo: I ate the worst soup of my life yesterday. After being away from for 5days,my wife decided to welcome me with a food without maggi and salt. I was mad but I couldn't show it her that I was mad because of the tasteless soup. When I couldn't hold it anymore,I asked her what are the things missing in that soup. She laughed, and said maybe it's crazyfish,oh! Sorry crayfish. I said no that this is beyond crayfish. She laughed again and said salt and maggi.
Imagine a soup without salt and maggi. I asked her why. She said maggi and salt make one old on time. See me see wahala. See wetin beauty tips wan do my wife.

Na God get power. For a couple of months I have been hoping and praying for this day. Big thanks to everybody here for your tremendous support, hope and prayers. For those expecting meds or trv, God will perfect what He has started. Faith is the key. Senecal College Ontario ... Am on my way.

Shadams: @rexxy 09, congrats.

From me:

I am grateful to God. CDHC has just called me. They wanted to stamp my passport but they decided to ask whether they should do that on it or whether I wanted to renew it. It has four more months to expire. I decided to choose the second option. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I just didn't want to seem desperate. I had got my dept at Usask to extend my resumption for about two weeks, while sending about 5-6 mails to the visa office yesterday, telling them about resumption. It got to them, since their call came today.

Meanwhile I am still in PH, and I have asked a friend to help me get it. I sent an authorization letter too. I should leave for Lagos tomorrow. I pray I can get the TRV next week. Kindly keep me in your thoughts. May God perfect all the dreams here!

Thank you.
Congrats bro

oghenet: The Lord has done it guys! Picked up my visa today when I went to enquire at the embassy.
Congratulations Oghenet, you are most probably the person my wife met at CDHC yesterday. She mentioned she had a discussion about this forum with you at CDHC yesterday and that you later called her to inform her about your VISA...congrats.
She was actually there to retrieve her Intl.Passport from her visit application which has been with CDHC for close to 2 months. She went for her US interview only today and those ones gave her and my kid 2-years instanta. I would holidaying with them in the US in a few days and spending the dollars we would have otherwise ploughed into the Canadian system.
smh...the earlier they realize how much harm their largely inefficient visa issuing system is hurting everybody including themselves the better.

Siga: .... I wouldnt say that and to be honest with u... I am abit worried cos a similar scenario happened last yr.... let us all keep praying and I believe whoever God wants to grant visa will surely get it... no need to panic...
Yea and my cursory look tells me they kindof give quick approval/rejection to clear cut applicants once their turn is reached but once an application is flagged/not clear-cut, it enters another queue, hence the delay. Seems to be the trend in past years too. Huzzie's list might help to decode better.
@Awaitees, na to continue to knock them door and pray. No tension!
@lucky Don, be courageous, let the house in on the details when available. Let me also know if you require my help in anyway.

anabor: Generals in the house(@Gboyega,@kjbobo,@Fhemmy,@Siga,@dommakavelli, e.t.c)please I need your advice. My TRV was turned down on the basis that my sponsor was not CREDIBLE, even with the fact that my sponsor had an account balance of 6million and CoO of two properties. Do you advice I send a mail to CDHC to explain further on what they mean by my sponsor not being "Credible", to enable me know where I went wrong in my application, or should I simply reapply for another TRV for Winter?
I honesty wouldn't advice you to invest your energy in mailing them because their response will be even more vague, something like: This case has been closed bla bla. They usually give generic responses because they know that the more detailed they are, the more likely their processes will be circumvented.
Fhemmmy has thrown in some very cool hazard guesses but I would still advise you to work closely with someone who can help you dissect your package holistically.
But again, you can send them an email, who knows...since it wouldn't cost you a dime. Sorry for the situation.

DrNeoCortex: Thank you boss. But i just confirmed from my h.r department and they said that the organization does not issue letters for study leave. Is there any way around this pls? Thank you.
Lots of corporate organizations will not give you a study leave letter to pursue visa processing however, you can print the relevant pages of the companies' policy showing your eligibility and then make reference to such document in your SOP, this should suffice.
For your funding requirement, ensure you put your dependents into consideration if any...

d jay: Hello good people of this forum 1st of I would want to apologise for my absence on the forum as waiting for CIC final decesion can make one numb particularly someone like me, knowing my application developed k leg during processing but the good news is on friday d 16th CIC hornerd God and my visa was handed to me that day I cried softly , I think it was tears of joy perhaps because 2weeks prior to that day I received my package from vfs init my application was closed and I was refused but in the package my intl pasport, full board+ skl fees receipt & letter from my sponsors lawyer standing as source of income as she dint ave a credible proof for source of income but she had enuf fund, all this was not in my package recevied from vfs. Let me take us back during call 4 medicals I was askd to provide these documents that was not in my package recevied from vfs moreso I was given 30days to provide them,If siga can rember I mailed him on his opinion as regards what is my best option as regard sponsors source of income since my sponsor lacked d required docs specified by CIC he sugestted a letter from a laywer would do. Tuale!! Oga Siga ur idea paid off. Now 30day has elapsed and I had not provided the docs infact it was until anoda 30days that I was able to provide the docs my application was closed on the 30th of july and the suporting docs got to CIC on the 1staug am sure dat was why d supporting docs and intl passprt was not in my closed appltn....now back to we're we we're after I recived d closed apllictn 4rm VFS as suggested by a vfs staffs and mr Wammi whom I met at VfS office d day his visa was approved after his 2nd trial encouraged me to hit CIC when I got there filled d form was askd 2 come in well to cut long stry short that day they explaind futhr more why my app was closed and that I should reaplly then gave me my pasrt and odr docs then almost instantly she got a call and she calld me bk in and collectd my docs bak and told me in 2wks dey would get bk 2 me which dey did on fri with d good news of stamped visa ..Thank God 4 me u guys ,thank u all 4 ur support, we are family in here. manover: Hello house, i want somebody to help out with my questions, i am 31 years and i want to apply for undergraduate program in Canada, do you think age will be a barrier when applying for TRV? Do Canada consider age intense of visa application? i really need advice from the house before i make any move. Thanks u all.
So far you can convincingly articulate your responses to those questions in the Study Permit Questionnaire and your profile/story looks coherent, you are good to go.

Use http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp to determine your eligibility and here http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/53_2.aspx?lang=eng is the Study Permit Questionnaire

Sir P!:
No p , another thing is if you're not using lufthansa for the entire journey , say you're flying lagos frankfurt on lufthansa but frankfurt toronto on air canada you might need a transit visa especially if you have to re check your bags in , I'm not sure though since I used lufthansa all the way to T.O . But like I said earlier I'm sure if you're using lufthansa all through you're fine
@Sir P yeah but even at that, you do not need a transit. I have done Niaja-to-Toronto before via Frankfurt and it was a Lufthansa/Air Canada combo, no transit visa was required. I have also done Niaja-to-Toronto via Paris, Airfrance, no transit v was required as well, so I believe Galala also.
I would recommend a return booking since it is sometimes cheaper or close to the price of a one-way. You could select your next summer break period as the return in-case you are unsure.
