Chii59: Science doesn't provide all the answers, neither does religion, yet one feels higher than the other for believing in one. A footprint 50 million years old, a bone 200 million years old, all provide a fragment of answers to the question "how did we get here?" Do you really believe that 2.5 gazillion years ago, nothing brought forth everything? Your first paragraph, true. But there's nothing wrong in believing in the two. I believe in science and the supernatural. For me, both are not mutually exclusive. "How did we get here," the question humanity has been trying to answer since time immemorial. Science says that the creation of the universe is as a result of the big bang theory. Religion says that the creation of the universe was by a supreme being; God. For me, noting didn't bring forth everything. The universe didn't come from noting. It is a well designed process. The creation of the universe was a process that was jumpstarted by something, something that is beyond our imagination, something intelligent. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" Science is just explaining the process with it's limited understanding, the big bang theory. What do you believe? |

Chii59: The problem I have with these "findings" is that they leave so many questions to be asked. You find a piece of bone (fossil), then it's "discovered" to be 50 million years old. Where are the other bones? It's possible. It's good to be open-minded. According to research, the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. We don't know much like we think we know, and we're just part of a huge puzzle. To your question, it's similar to the footprint. "Where's the other footprint?" "Where are the other bones?" Let me remind you that 50 million years is a very very long time for a lot of things to take place, and the bones, footprints, other parts to get missing. Not 50,000, but 50 million years. Think about it. Fossilization is a process, and not all bones will meet the condition which will lead to some parts missing and broken down as time goes by. |

Farki: They calculated the age of the rocks to get the approximate date of when the print was made.
Meanwhile billions of people believe a 14 year old Israeli virgin became pregnant out of nowhere and rods can turn into snakes because a white man whipped their grandparents into believing it. You can believe in both the natural and the supernatural; have an open mind. The universe, the Earth, and the world is deeper than you think, and there are some things that cannot be scientifically explained. Don't limit your scope to only what you can see, feel, and touch. |

Chii59: That bird is not that big. It could conveniently balance on that slab. Footprints are in pairs except scientists want to reveal that the bird had just one leg. And how accurate is carbon dating anyway? True. It's a small animal, but if you look at the the other side of the rock where the other footprint is supposed to be, you will see that it is not intact. It appears as if it got worn-out probably by water or so. I don't really know much about the accuracy of carbon dating. |
Science/Technology › Re: 4-Year-Old Girl Finds 220-Million-Year-Old Dinosaur Print On UK Beach (Photos) by Buzx: 6:36pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Chii59: How come there's only one "foot print"? Seems the dinosaur wasn't a big one judging by its foot print, so it could conveniently balance on the rock slab, yet how come there's just one? Where's the other pair? Nice question. It is possible that the other footprint has been erased, the rock broken, and worn out over time. I'm sure you don't expect the footprint to be intact considering the number of years that has pass. |

Adakintroy: Are scientist sure they are not hallucinating?
Cus sometime I stare long at my wall and am sure the figure am Looking at is one of a human person.
That was how they took men to Jerusalem to see Abraham foot print.
So I was thinking who was the man walking behind Abraham. Taking note of every step.
No rain to wash the print..he must have left an indeleable one. no pun.
..but as I was thinking. How did dinosaur step on a hard rock and left prints.no rain or anything fall since then to wash it. You need to check how rocks are formed through volcanic eruption. (Igneous rock) I guess the dinosaur stepped on a cooling magma which later turned into a hard rock. It will be difficult for the footprint to erase. Like chicken stepping on a just cemented ground, there will be footprints. |

tensazangetsu20: It's still up by 154 percent in a week. The fight is crazy between retail investors and hedge funds. Around 1539 percent in a year. This is just GameStop. Tesla increased by 800 percent last year. Curtis did 300 percent in a day.
My point is America has so much the citizens can use to make money unlike the lies agbayas are heaping on us here. This GameStop sudden stock raise is bizarre. I'm sure you know the story. The rich guys were beaten at their own game by average investors. First of its kind; it doesn't happen every day. That is not to say US stocks does not experience massive growth like these. If you know the right stocks to buy, you'll make massive profit, but this GameStop massive raise in few days is due to market manipulation. |

Babatunde7109: It is not even about graduating here. It is about those little men and women who have made the school their choice of institution -- where they will eventually begin their undergraduate experience.
Already, for the canceled (2020/21) session, the school has sold their Post-UTME form to the many candidates. So, what happens to their money?
So many things are not just okay in this our dear country, Nigeria.
How could they make such a magnanimous decision without even considering to return the hard-earned money the candidates paid for the session they just canceled. It is a total form of injustice.
Not just when police killed people without facing any trial for their action. Not just when some set of individuals are allegedly murdered by government directives or actions and not face the wrath of law. But INJUSTICE is also when a school collects money from a set of people, canceled the programme for which the money collected is meant for, refuses to acknowledge the state of mind of these people, and still refuses to return their money.
#OAU_RETURN_PUTME_PAYMENTS I'm interested to know how it is a magnanimous decision. |

lalasticlala, Seun, is rule number 5 still active? 5. Don't post pornographic or "disgusting pictures or videos on any section of Nairaland."
Feels like the people who own this forum can do whatever they like. They don't even listen to users complain or decry. People have been complaining of this frequent graphic images being posted on Nairaland. It's barbaric. There's a graphic image warning, fine, but I might been interested in reading the news. Or rather these images can be blurred just like Facebook. |

Secondly, I am a strong advocate of internet fraud and will never support anyone into it...There has to be a paradigm shift from these 'laptop' and criminal behaviour. You can't be a strong advocate of internet fraud and never support it." I am a strong advocate...." It means you're an adrent supporter. |

stanliwise: If it looks like fraud then it sure could be fraud. Aside their myopic view of people with laptops, you and I know they aren’t the problem only.
Many guys with laptop also engage in fraudulent activities in the cover up they are graphic artist or computer geek where we know it isn’t it. Especially in this part of the world, what I am against is seeing a stranger and calling them fraudsters because of how they look or what they carry, when you have no background info about them.
But as for people I have stayed with I can randomly select the ones who are yahoo guys the moment I see them with a laptop.
So in conclusion, in this part of the world, if you say 10 boys with laptop are into internet fraud, then chances you’re 5/10 right.
So what are saying? My advise is for people to have proper info before labeling people as a potential fraudster. You're very very wrong. Those boys don't even use laptops these days; they use phones. In this present age, anyone can own a laptop. My 12 years old cousin has a laptop. Can he be labeled a fraudster, too? The earlier you people realise that owning a laptop is normal, the better. We're in the computer age, and lots of young people are going into tech these days. Few years ago, I was stopped by police and taken to the station for just carrying a laptop. I was traveling back to school with the laptop. My clothes were thrown on the ground, my bag was scattered. They also found my hard-drive. After hours of searching my drive and laptop for stuffs and they couldn't find any, they left me. I was even the only showing them where my files was. It was so annoying. |

Sex with a minor is rape because she's not capable of consenting; she's a minor. In the eyes of the law, people below this age (17/18) are simply too immature to make a decision that could have consequences such as a pregnancy.
But the guy is dead, and dead men tell no tales. For the girl, this is premeditated murder, but her saving grace might that she's a juvenile. I don't know the laws concerning juvenile crimes in Nigeria. |
