Christianity Etc › Why Christmas Is On The Penultimate Sunday Of March by cactusland(op): 5:39pm On May 24, 2021 |
As far as is known, Jesus of Nazareth was born sometime in the year 5 BC in the town of Nacrat (Hebrew name, pronounced Nats-raht)/an-Nāṣira (Arabic name), then known as Nazareth. The Star of Bethlehem and the fare of the priests is one major clue: in the Bible it says that the shepherds were tending to har flocks of sheep when the Nativity occurred. This could not have happened in winter or summer, but in spring on clear grounds that I shalln't get into. It so happens that in the last 2 decades of the first century BC the Chinese recorded many comets; the ones in 10 and 12 BC are known to have been Comet Halley.
In 5 BC the Chinese wrote of another comet, as told by this chronicle from then: "In the twoth year of the tide of Ch'ien-p'ing, twoth month, a hui-hsing atiewed in Ch'ien-niu for more than 70 days" This effectively means: "In the time between March 10 and April 7, 5 BC, a comet that was maw to be seen for more than 70 days atiewed near Alpha and Beta Capricornii" That "comet" stayed put for about 2 months, suggesting that it was in truth a nova. This was enough time for the Magi priests from Persia to reach Nazareth using the Star of Bethlehem as a guide; it is known that the Magi were still maw to see the nova when Judea was reached.
The rainy season in Iran begins in March, and the sudden atiewing of a bright object would have fooled the Magi into believing that the star was a heliacal rising, so in the 6-8 weeks that the Magi yode to Nazareth, hye still would have seen the nova for about 2 or 3 more weeks after reaching the town, since 70 days is 10 weeks.
King Herod died swith soon after this, having been 68, a chronic alcoholic, and likely nearly blind in a time when the life expectancy was about 30. Thus he would not have seen it. The Romans would not have either, for the nova (could be seen only in the morning by April) was at a low ecliptic altitude and was nearby a full moon on March 23, 5 BC that was drawing closer night by night.
Thus is the answer: Christ was born sometime in late March 5 BC, so may have been close to the date of March 20 (which was a Sunday in 5 BC, go figure) |

omenka: I think the US is on point on this call. The consequences of the US standing down after what Asad did to his own people would be more dire. It would give other rogue and beligerent regimes around the world the impetus to deploy such weapons against percieved enemies.
This is gonna be unlike Iraq or Afghanistan. There would be no boots on ground, just ariel strikes at some military infrastructure to reduce Asad's capability.
People like Asad are the reason why I still insist Mubarak is a patriot!! He didn't burn his country just to maintain his grip on power.
I feel people calling for the US not to act are only doing so just to sound politically correct. I mean, why should a whole country burn just for the selfish interest of ONE MAN It simply doesn't make any sense. Six years later and you have been proven absolutely right. |

Celebrities › Stalker Of US Dem Alexandria Ocasio-cortez Arrested, Tongue-tied Over Intentions by cactusland(op): 11:40pm On Jun 29, 2019 |
QUOTE from New York Daily News: The man charged with holding police at bay with a fire extinguisher and a broken bottle to get an audience with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got bashful Friday morning, refusing to explain what he wanted with the freshman congresswoman.
“Nah, bro, I don’t want to give my side of the story,” Douala Hashi, 31, said during an exclusive jailhouse interview where he is being held after failing to make bail.
The Somali-born man was busted Wednesday on contempt charges for returning to the progressive lawmaker’s office in Jackson Heights after he was warned to stay away.
Police hit him with stalking charges for three other visits to AOC’s office when he tried to talk to her and became violent when he was rebuffed.
Hashi hasn’t explained why he wants to meet with Ocasio-Cortez or why he violated the judge’s order not to contact her.
[More Politics] Trump thinks Putin was talking about California Democrats when he trashed ‘Western liberalism’ — draws blank on ‘busing’ » He was charged with criminal mischief on June 15 for spraying a fire extinguisher on the same floor as the lefty firebrand’s office. Carrying a broken bottle, he ducked into a utility closet before he was handcuffed.
Hashi never actually entered her office that time, police said.
Judge Jerry Iannece set bail at $2,500, leaving Hashi to stew in jail until his next court date. The judge also warned Hashi to stay away from Ocasio-Cortez and two aides when he does get out.
Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most outspoken lawmakers in Congress and has become a lightning rod for supporters and critics alike. She complains that she is deluged by death threats whenever she criticizes President Trump. |

lilwetdick: but thorium salt reactors is dangerous if not manage well, dam free hydropower is still being research on
solar and wind energy cant power a factory
no country can developed without emitting some kind of pollution, developed countries emit more pollutions than less developed countries, coal is still use to power electricity in developed countries Anything is dangerous if managed incorrectly, but the thorium reactors fail by simply cooling down and draining to a tank. The only way this could become dangerous is if the tank(s) holding the fuel are ruptured. Otherwise, failure consists of fuel draining into a special tank for failed reactions, while the failed component is fixed. They cannot fail like Liquid Water Reactors, which can have situations like Chernobyl, Fukushima, and Three Mile Island due to the fact of steam pressure and potential for zirconium to start reacting with the water producing explosive hydrogen. This great link on the matter sums everything up here \/ https://liquidfluoridethoriumreactor.glerner.com/2012-how-might-lftrs-fail/As for solar and wind energy being unable to power factories, that may not be true as solar technology gets better and more efficient (not to mention how notoriously sunny much of Africa is even in the forest), however there is also a type of "space solar power" in the works that can self-replicate using lunar materials, potentially powering everything on earth. And it would be cheap by world standards (only about 10 billion or so dollars; budget that countries can pool together for such a project). Both wind energy and solar energy are viable in Nigeria, as the country is both coastal and Sahelian (areas that can't use solar can easily use wind power from the mountains, wave power or aforementioned nuclear) https://ourworld.unu.edu/en/renewable-energy-in-africa-is-set-to-surge-by-2040-iea-sayshttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1b/Sub-Saharan-Africa_GHI_mid-size-map_156x192mm-300dpi_v20170928.png/1280px-Sub-Saharan-Africa_GHI_mid-size-map_156x192mm-300dpi_v20170928.pnghttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/69/Global_Map_of_Wind_Power_Density_Potential.png/1280px-Global_Map_of_Wind_Power_Density_Potential.pngAs for pollution, semi industrialized nations like Nigeria are at a severe disadvantage due to plastic pollution. In the industrialized nations, it's gaseous pollution that is most problematic. For developing nations, it's mostly plastic and chemical pollution from unsafe factories. Coal is only being used in Africa sparingly, and usually for the heating of homes or for cooking. Nigeria, North Africa, and Equatorial Guinea are excluded due to heavy revenues from fossil fuels in all those countries. |

lilwetdick: what other ways to develop without going through the process of industrialization, can you name them please? Development is impossible without at least some industrialization, but industrialization is possible without emissions. Look up Thorium Salt reactors, zaï and cordons pierreux, solar power, dam-free hydropower, vortex wind power (that way birds won't get caught up), car batteries, anti-poaching laws, anti-pollution laws, and aggresively enforcing anti-corruption legislation. |

lilwetdick: but every developed nation went through industrialisation to get to where they are..
why are they now preaching global warning when developing countries want to get industrialised The unfortunate problem is that the costs are becoming worse than the benefits; there are other ways to development than to destroy everything Permian style in the process. |

Nairaland General › Multiple Women Date-defiled At Jake Paul's Party On May 4 by cactusland(op): 3:10pm On May 09, 2019 |
The Pauls dey trash oooo The day after a huge party at YouTuber Jake Paul’s house on Saturday, rumors began swirling that multiple women had been drugged. But the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the Daily Mail it had not received any complaints like that from the party.
The rumors first began with an apparent Facebook post from a mother’s group in southern California and from an Instagram post from a firehouse that serves the Calabasas area where Paul lives.
On the private Moms of Conejo Valley Facebook group, which has more than 17,000 members, this message began circulating on Sunday.
The post claimed that the mother’s daughter was at Paul’s party on Saturday night and she “ended up in the hospital with eight other girls who had been drugged and … ended up incoherent. Something was put in their drinks. The girls were all half naked and unable to walk or talk.” The mother also claimed the party-goers were made to sign a disclaimer of some kind before they could enter the party.
The speculation was further fueled by the apparent Instagram account of @firestation68. The account is no longer available, but according to reports, a post said firemen had spent the majority of their Saturday night “transporting multiple patients” from the party to the hospital.
Paul has not commented on the reports on social media, and he didn’t immediately return a message left by the Daily Dot—there is no indication that Paul had anything to do with any reports or allegations of women being drugged. Paul’s brother, Logan, seemingly had a good time at the party, which was thrown in honor of rapper Desiigner’s birthday.
A spokesperson for the L.A. County Sheriffs’ Department told the Daily Mail that nobody had reported anything about women being drugged. The only complaint the department received was about loud music and that the party that was “getting out of hand.” One of Paul’s elderly neighbors was “scared” by the party and fell as a result, but there were no other injury reports.
