The west keep giving Haiti millions of pounds in relief aids since the unfortunate earthquake, who told them Haiti needs their money?  It's pretty obvious that someone in Washington or 10 dowing street, intends to buy up  Haiti one day and make the country a big golf course . . . . ., how people who claim to be intellectuals could not see this is way beyond my imagination. . . . .
Violent why do you make statements like the one above? do you actually know the history of Haiti?

Do you even understand the terrible deeds that the US govt have committed in Haiti since that country emancipated itself from slavery in 1807?

I will leave it to you to educate yourself on Haiti's tragic history and america's destruction of her economy as punishment for defeating the french, british and spanish in an imperial war and becoming the first black republic.
Haiti was subjected to a 60 year trade embargo by europe and america , it was also forced to pay compensation running into millions of francs to its former slave masters the french!!! the only nation in history where an emancipated people have had to pay compensation to their former slave owners for fighting and winnning their own freedom!!!

You seem to be under the illusion that america is doing Haiti some sort of favour by sending a releif effort with regard to the earthquake, they owe Haiti a lot more than charity and if you could only broaden your horizons and try and find out the truth it would do you a world of good.

If america had Haiti's interst at heart why did US marines kidnap democratically elected reformist leader  Jean Bertrand Aristide and deport him to Congo in 2004?  could it be because of his land reform programme in which he sought to redistribute agricultural land being used by american multinationals to grow cash crops for export the same way they intend to grow  cash crops solely for export in africa?  Or was it because he planned to introduce a minimum wage for his people and put a stop to the starvation wages that his people who work in american  owned sweat shops were being paid?

Jenifa and Virgo - thanks for posting - enjoyed reading your posts.

Cap, I think we should just stop this comparisons. Gadaffi is a demon. He was working for his own selfish interest to be the Emperor of Africa just as the Oyinbo people are working to protect their own interest. Africans are even the worst enemies of Africans if you want to go along that line.
Africa is better off aligning with Gadaffi than with the IMF, world bank, europe or america - look at Iraq and Afghanistan - I can see how much they have gained since america occupied their countries.

Even Egypt which thought that it had a revolution a few months ago is back to square one with a military dictatorship now being run by the former head of Egypt's notorious and dreaded secret service.  The americans have just concluded a deal in which the Egyptians have signed up to an IMF loan that will plunge them into more debt and suffering - is that your idea of progress?

BTW, how can you put up such a question wether Gadaffi was responsible for the death of Lumumba? That a shame! Anyway, wether you like it or not, Gadaffi in my opinion is a demon. Given the chance, he would sell you Africans to the highest bidder. Or were you not alive when he signed the treaty with the EU to stop you Africans from entering Europe? That's your "Yampion". He was getting "CASH" despite his oil wealth and recognition from his "percieved enemies and enemies of Africa" for stopping his "beloved" Africans from coming near the border of "stronghold Europe". He never mind whatever means imployed. His take was these "damned" Africans will be stopped. He is a demon. I do not like pretentious people and least a "pretentious African".
I used Lumumba as an example to show you that your criticisms of Gaddafi are unfounded - is it not the americans and belgians that murdered lumumba so that they could have total control over the mining region in eastern congo?

yes, Gadaffi signed a treaty on immigration with europe, but i notice you have failed to criticise the europeans who paid him over 500 million euro to keep africans out of their countries, why are you pointing fingers at Gadaffi alone, it takes more than one party to secure an agreement you know?

The europeans are not our friends and seek our demise at every turn, as i said if i have to choose between alligning with the europeeans or Gadaffi i will chose Gadaffi becuase he has demonstrated through his actions that he is interested in the economic independence of the african continent.

If by intolerance you mean dissenting opinion then i agree with you - but what is happening in Libya is nothing to do with a group of dissenters but a concerted plan financed and orchestrated by the united states, the united kingdom and france to annex an entire nation in order to control its oil and banking system - Libya is the only african nation whose central bank operates totally independently of the european and american owned international financial banking system.
a group of MI6 and CIA trained  thugs went around shooting up police and army depots and killing military personnel and you say Gadaffi should have folded his arms and watched abi?
why dont you try shooting up a police station in germany and see what will happen to you?

Cap, I am going to my mid 40s now and I believe I have witnessed a lot in this world. That naughty person of a Gadaffi is partly responsible for so many coups d'etat and counter coups in Africa. The War in your example of Sierra Leone was partly sponsored by him. He has always tried to undermine African regimes that are against his views by sponsoring insurrections in this countries.
Was Gaddaffi responsible for killing Lumumba of Congo?

how about the removal of Kwame Nkrumah and the assassination of  Murtala Muhammed and  Thomas Sankara because the last time i checked these were all CIA, MI6 and French intelligence sponsored operations.

Was it not this same Gadaffi who went to war with Chad because of a piece of desert land supposedly containing deposit of Uranium?
Do you want me to start listing the number of countries america and britain have waged war on in order to appropriate their natural resources, the list is so long it will fill pages and pages.

Gadaffi is a demon, I do not need to demonize him.
According to which facts is he a demon ?- the facts given to you by euroopean and american owned media or arrived at through your own analysis and understanding of the facts?

The facts you just dugged up did not say anything about the economic situation in cuba. Have you been to that place? What is the average income of the people of Cuba? Can you freely travel in and out of Cuba as a Cuban citizen? Lets assume you can, how many can afford it? Can you form a free opinion in Cuba? Cuba while I acknowledge getting somethings right, is not the country to emulate when it comes to economic policies. Cuba society is also very corrupt if you dont know. The unemployment ratio despite their low population is as high as in Nigeria.
the points you have raised here could easily be directed at america  and a few other european nations - lets take america as an example - it is currently running a deficit of $14 trillion dollars - it is on the brink of bankruptcy - if not for all the treasury bills that China, europe and japan buy from it, it would not be able to function - is that your idea of a successful economy?

america has been unable to provide a comprehensive health care programme to its 300 million citizens but Cuba has - why is that?

unemployment in america is rising very rapidly - it has outsourced the bulk of its manufacturing industry to china and other far eastern countries resulting in high unemployment - is that an economic model to emulate?

freedom of speech in america is fast being eroded - the right to habeas corpus has been suspended from the american constitution - is that your idea of a free and democratic society?

dont even get me started on corruption - why are lobbyists who work for big business in america so powerful?

My friend, Gadaffi is liberating no one. Where did you get that from? Infact, he is part of the problem. I dont know why a lot of you Africans believe ARABS are your friends. No, they are not. Get used to them, live with them, watch them closely, and you will know that. While the "white people" would not mind taking the bulk of your assets, the Arab on the other hand would not only take your property, he would not mind to kill you too, especially if you are regarded as infidel. FYI, the Arabs actually started the slave trade.
Gadaffi stumped up $300 million dollars to pay for a satellite system which has enabled africans to have access to cheap telecommunications throughout the continent.
Prior to that period Africa was leasing a european owned satellite for $500 million dollars  A YEAR, when african nations  tried to negotiate an outright sale which would break this cycle of exploitation europe merely made vague promises. it was Gadaffi who BROKE THAT CYCLE OF ENSLAVEMENT AND DEPENDENCY ON EUROPE FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS,  something that rogue MKO Abiola couldnt acheive with his fraudulent ITT so please i dont know where you are getting this idea that Gadaffi is the enemy of africa.

I havent even laid out all the other financial donations he made to other african nations like Sierra Leone to help them with the economic rebuilding of their country after the war.

Also what about the fact that he wanted to introduce the gold dinar as africa's currency which would enable african nations to trade only in gold rather than in dollars or euros and which would give africa greater financial leverage over how much they sold their commodities?  are these the acts of a person who does not have the interest of the entire african continent at heart?

Please explain how he is part of the problem?  Is it the IMF and world bank that would prefer to keep africa submerged in debt that are our  friends?

You are quick to demonise and tar Gadaffi with unsubstantiated claims when his actions indicate that he is the complete opposite of what you are claiming.

Who will do this for you? Why not come to Nigeria to lead the execution squad that will achieve what you want ? Why not leave the UK and come to Nigeria to lead by example as others are doing? Some of you are simply stuck in the past and have been out of Nigeria for far too long . We are gradually seeing the good guys getting involved in Nigerian politics more. That is the truth. Whether you wan't to believe that or not is your own problem.
If we can all unite under the umbrella of progress for all, irrespective of ethnic affiliation - we can achieve that objective, rawlings did it in Ghana - it can be done in nigeria, this present set of nigerian politicians are scum and they are the root cause of evrything that has gone wrong with nigeria.

Im not stuck in the past at all - im looking way ahead and what i see is very bleak, as long as we carry on fighting amongst ourselves we will never acheive anything. The sad thing is that those who are actually smart are watching us very closely, they are covertly waiting to put the final touches to their long term plan of the complete appropriation of our land and resources, so while people like your relative continue robbing us blind and pushing us closer to the abyss the real smart people will move in for the kill and many of us will end up as aliens in our own land.

By the way where are these good guys in nigerian politics that you speak of? I hope you dont mean Goodluck Jonathan and his bandwagon of criminal cronies?

the tragic thing about these pathetic misfits that call themselves our govt officials is that they travel abroad to places like europe and america and see how things work properly, they see how the poor are provided for, they see how food, health care, education are all within the reach of ordinary folk and yet these punks come back to nigeria and shamelessly REFUSE to better the lot of their own people - Gbawe pray tell - does that equate to intelligence in your book - cos it equates to down right foolishness in mine.

Does it make sense to keep your own people mired in grim poverty when citizens of other nations live with dignity and pride for what their own nations have done for them?  Does it make sense to divert millions of stolen funds into your bank account while your streets are filled with jobless youths?  Does it make sense to build bogus white elephant projects when you havent been able to provide constant electricity and running water for your vast population?

Gbawe i say to you hang your head in shame if the reason for these your outbursts on here has been because you are related to a nigerian govt official because the current crop of nigerian politicians that we have  are about as useful to the progress of nigeria as cancer is to a human being.

What we need in nigeria is mass incarceration and executions of all these criminals who are responsible for perpetuating the misery and suffering that many of our people are currently being subjected to, Gbawe you can rant all you like  but the fact of the matter is the people who have been misruling this nation for the past 51 years are a complete and utter disgrace and insult to the intelligence of all nigerians, these glorified thugs loot and plunder the nations coffers and treat the nigerian populace with na.ked contempt - why? because we are still too docile to understand that until we take matters into our own hands and rid ourselves of these parasites we will forever remain slaves in our own land.

And you have the know hows? IF you must emulate, emulate intelligently. Cuba I am afraid is a no go in terms of economic development policies. Forget US sanctions, Cuba is a country where a few people dictate. China is free paradise compared to Cuba. BTW, Asia is on the lips of many including yourself for obvious reasons.
Cuba - a tiny nation of only 11 million people whose main export is sugar has STILL been able to provide free education up to university level to all of its citizens and free health care.  99% of its citizens are literate and the average life expectancy is 77 years - it acheived ALL this despite a 51 year commercial, financial and economic embargo imposed on it by the US - nigeria is an oil rich nation that has somehow failed to harness its vast manpower and natural resources and over a period of 51 years has nothing to show for the huge profits it has reaped from its vast oil reserves.  Life expectancy for men in nigeria is 49 years and education and health care provision is at a state of near collapse, so i think we need to get our facts right before we start criticising countries that are doing way better than us.

exactly - europeans unlike africans always think ahead.  The long term objective is the total approriation of the most fertile land in africa - where have we heard this before? once they secure all the choice land, the next phase is to rehabilitate their growing populations - didnt this happen in south africa?  Any nigerians who supports this are beyond help.

The europeans have always used their  cunning behaviour to fool africans and they are still succeeding in the 21st century despite the fact that many who support this claim to be educated -
Zimbabwe is yet to extricate itself from the appropriation of large tracts of land by europeans, this situation is accelerating and before long africans will become aliens in their own land, if you think the europeans and other foreign investors will hand this land back to you willingly you need your head examined.

Before any UK company can go ahead with a land acquisition  here in the UK it must first of all consult with members of the public who live in the affected area or who have some sort of interest in the land which is to be purchased.

Notices are put up on site or in the local newspaper and anyone who is not happy with the proposal is permitted to raise an objectiion which is then determined by a govt official, members of the public are permitted to attend the meeting and they can ask questions and voice their concerns. If more people object to the proposal than agree to it the project is abandoned, this has happened several times in the UK where large supermarket chains like sainsburys, Asda and Tescos decide to buy up what is known as green belt land ie land which govt purposely leaves fallow in order to preserve the natural habitats of these tracts of land.

I have never ever come across a situation where a large business does secret deals with a govt which are approved without any form of consultation - 9 times out of 10 the british public are against giving up the smallest bit of green belt land for development because they see this land as their heritage and prefer that it is kept fallow or as a conservation site.  I can only imagine the huge outcry that would go up in this country if FOREIGNERS were to come in and buy up or lease huge tracts of land to grow food to feed  THEIR own populations - any british govt that approved such a deal would be hounded out of office for betraying the british people.

China holds about a trillion dollars worth of american treasury bills but when the chinese tried to use some of it to buy up american companies it was BLOCKED by the US govt because they understood the importance of keeping valuable assets in the hands of their own people or at the very least the hands of other friendly nations, there is no way europe or america would just hands over valuable assets to their competitors all in the name of investment.

If you have a company that runs a monopoly market in rice sale.

Let's say I for instance, being the president. I've observed that rice has gone out in supply, i simply declare a ban on exportation of rice. . .what it will mean is that you will have to sell your rice tothe local market, and NO, you simply can't increase your price, cos if you do, investors in the local market will take advantage of that opportunity to import rice and sell at a price that is ridiculously lower than yours. so in essence, it's either you watch your inventory get bigger without turnover or you simply sell at a price that is competitive for market rates.
very few african nations have the leverage to negotiate in the way you are describing.

why do you think these foreign investors are interested in africa in the first place? well first of all because land in africa is dirt cheap and secondly because these sort of transactions are negotiated with african leaders who are imperialist puppets who simply do as they are told.

What many of you guys are failing to realize is that most of these firms, by investing in economies outside their own, face a lot of political risk as well, at the same time, it doesn't make any sense that a company can produce food commodities ----for export only!!. if their is a short supply in local markets!
what risk? there is absolutely no risk to these foreign investors - all of the african govts that they are doing business with are loyal to western interests, most of these african  leaders are in  receipt of millions of dollars in military aid from some of these western nations (the western nations work hand in hand with their multinational corporations)  therefore it doesnt matter to them if the deals they negotiate shortchange their own people, because all the african leaders are interested in is perpetuating themselves in power. this is how Mobutu of Zaire remained in power for 32 years by granting mining concessions at giveaway prices to belgian, french and american mining companies.
The same was true of Omar Bongo of Gabon who gave Elf very extensive oil concessions in his country enabling the French to make billions whilst leaving his people impoverished.

Qattara was put in by French, our people are hailing. I pity Africa. Living in UK has opened my eyes to the policies of these western governments as regards Africa. They do not care one bit about us. Simple. You can kill 1 billion Africans as long as you give 10 billion dollars to a western government concession. You dont need to worry about PR. BBC will praise you. They will return a few millions in AIDS.

However, the events of Egypt will certainly happen across Africa one day. We will wake up and become anti-western. Until then, let them tap us more. We will come back for it.[/quote]thank you bro, i will continue to take my hat off to Muammar Gadaffi for everything he did for his people and many other african countries who benefitted from his largesse.  That man made river that he built was not only to provide drinking water to his people but also to irrigate the desertland and enable libyans to grow their own food and thereby reduce their dependence on foreign food imports - and this made the west go crazy with anger - this is one of the reasons why they want him dead by any means necessary.  Now look at other stu.pid africans transferring gigantic tracts of land to these same people for pennies on the pound to grow food to feed their own people when many of these african countries havent even been able to feed their own - any way God dey, i continue to pray that our people will wake up because the level of ignorance amongst so called educated nigerians is just so depressing.

All of this was planned a along time ago - read Henry Kissinger's (former national security adviser under Jimmy Carter) memorandum written in 1974 (NSSM National  Security memorandum 200) where war, famine and CONTROL OVER FOOD were recommended as tools to control the population of africa.

How?. . . .If a company owns an arable land where corn is being cultivated on a large scale.  The government can always force such companies to sell to locals by placing a ban on corn exports, that's simple really.
The reality is that these tracts of land are being used to grow crops for export only - that is the deal, they are not being grown for domestic african consumers, if you watch one of those videos, you will see that the deal that the president of ethiopia entered into with some american hedge funds and other agribusinesses ended up benefitting only the foreign investor (and possibly the african officials who got their own cut from the deal) but not the indigenous ethiiopians - the contract did not secure jobs for indigenous ethiopians, compensation for displaced farmers or even a share of the food being grown.

Local farmers will only be able to produce on a very small scale, why else do you suppose that will all the lands available to us in Nigeria, we still import stuffs like rice?
we import rice because of the nigerian govts failure to diversify the economy and plough money into large scale agriculture.

If there are foreign investors that are willing to produce such a commodity in large quantities, and they are asking to buy lands, why the fúck not?
if you are giving away large tracts of land without having the ability to produce your own food on a large scale you become vulnerable to those who do grow food  - in this instance the large foreign agri businesses, this means that these countries can hold you to ransom whenever they feell like because they now have a monopoly on the food supply and therefore if these countries decide to put the price of their finished products up you are forced to buy them because you do not have a sufficiently developed domestic agricultural industry.

ANy?
1. Local investment?
from where?
what do you call the subsistence farmers who eke out a living?
how abou the huge numbers of unemployed  youths that are roaming the streets of lagos or crowding out internet cafes looking for people to dupe?  surely their skills could be put to better use managing farms?

2. Subsidize inefficient farmers.

hmmm Don't think so. That's money down the drain
thats what i call myopic thinking, subsistence farming is inefficient for the simple reason that it is not being funded and subsidised by the govt - in europe and america - farmers are assisted by way of agricultural subsidies in order to increase efficiency.

They invest to make money--simple and pure!. . .they don't give a fúck about America or if America is going to run short of food in the near future.  They are in it simply to make pure absolute returns.
Do you think europe or america is like nigeria where the masses remain docile even when they are starving?

Westerners are only tolerating the current economic crisis because it hasnt yet hit most of them where it really hurts - in the stomach - do you know that the average westerner doesnt even know what it feels like to go without food for one day talkless of actually being without food for days.

i can assure you that if food shortages start happening in europe or america the masses will go ballistic and there is no way any western govt would  want that to happen, this is why they are hastily making this decision to go into africa and buy up huge tracts of land at the expense of africans.

I dont know if you read through the articles or watched any of those videos but these land disposals are going to millionaire investors and not ordinary joes,  if any of these african govts were serious about encouraging local investment it would have subsidised local farmers in africa the way the europeans and americans do with their own farmers, not allow foreigners to come in and buy up land at rock bottom prices.
Do you even understand the implication of allowing foreigners to own the bulk of your arable land? can you not see that that puts you in a very vulnerable position in terms of providing food for your own people?

The fact of the matter is that nigeria as a nation should be a beacon to the entire black world because it has the resources and the manpower which if correctly harnessed should be standing shoulder to shoulder with any of the G8 nations of the world but due to greed, stup.dity, tribalism, selfishness and pure lack of vision continues to be a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

Nigeria should be a place that every african american, carribean or black south american should want to be affiliated with, but we are not and it is totally dishonest to continue to perpetuate the blatant lie that we are something that we are not.

African Americans despite huge odds stacked against them as a result of years of subjugation under the heel of white supremacy STILL managed to carve a niche for themselves and rise above the terrible oppression they were forced to live under for 400 years, notice how despite the huge obstacles they faced they were able to organise, challenge and fight a system which was hell bent on keeping them as second class citizens in their own land, but they were smart enough to understand that individual succcess does not make any difference if an entire system is against you and they therefore got together, organised themselves and forced white supremacist america to dismantle the jim crow system which was destroying the lives of their people.

how about the black south africans who fought and threw off the shackles of apartheid (although the battle is not yet over) to rid themselves of the white supremacist domination they were subjected to - now in our own case what did we acheive - eurocentric education , imported religions and 50 years of the most degenerate and corrupt govt you can ever think of, I therefore continue to ask how after looking at all of this can any sane person still insist that despite our failure to rid ourselves of this cancer we have the nerve to regard ourselves as smart.

Nobody is saying that nothing good has come out of nigeria - what im saying is, it is premature to proclaim how "smart" we are when from all available evidence, we have not used this so called smartness to throw off the shackles of our oppression, until we get to the point where we have done that most basic of tasks - we should not be making such baseless proclamations .

Its going from bad to worse - apparently Giggs gave his brother's wife £500 to abort his (Ryan's) baby:

The Ryan Giggs affair plumbed new depths yesterday when his sister-in-law claimed she aborted their lovechild two weeks before marrying the footballer’s brother.

Natasha Giggs said she became pregnant by the married father of two while preparing to tie the knot with unsuspecting Rhodri.

Giggs now stands accused of seeing at least three women at the same time: his wife Stacey, sister-in-law Natasha and Imogen Thomas, a one-time Big Brother contestant.
Natasha twisted the knife by claiming in a newspaper yesterday that Giggs arrived on his bicycle to give her £500 towards terminating her pregnancy.

and yet we nigerians continue to delude ourselves into beleiving that we are soo smart - as far as i am concerned africa is now moving into the second phase of economic enslavement, the first phase was when our leaders colluded with the international financial institutions to saddle us with debt - now the europeans are moving in for the kill by buying up all the fertile land for a pittance.

@ Cap 28

My brother, I tire for these your deep and elaborate conspiracy theories oh. You make it seem like D'banj/Don Jazzy have nothing to gain from this venture while Kanye/Jay-Z et al have all to gain. Really? Since when did poor old, foreign-aid reliant Africa become such an important end-market for American music/entertainment? Do Africans (especially naija) even buy legit CDs (apart from Alaba bootlegs oh, lol). Obviously, Kanye & co must see a business possibility with them D'banj, thats why they bothered to sign them on. But then we must also acknowledge the tremendous possibilities this holds for D'Banj and Don Jazzy - it is obvious that they have more to gain (unimagined international exposure, album sales, gigs, etc).

Well,  dunno man, but all these conspiracy theories and Illuminati stuff just seem extremely far-fetched to me.
bro you dont have to take my word for it just read about corporate america's take over of the hip hop industry in america, read about how the african american artists who sang about empowerment, education and afrocentricity s ended up with no career after the white owned music labels like sony, EMI, universal etc finished with them eg  Public Enemy, Talib Kweli, A tribe called Quest, Common, and the ones who sang about money, guns and hoes became multi millionaires like Jay Z ,50 cent, lil wayne, soulja boy and kanye west.

Of course D banj stands to gain something from this but the long term effect of his association with the american music industry will do more harm to him than good, they are very good at using you up and then spitting you out when you are no longer flavour of the month, they will mould him into some clone in order to suit the tastes of the record company executives and when they've finished with him they'll just toss him aside, this is where creative control comes into play, once you have total artistic control over your work - you cant be pushed around and people respect you.  This is why Fela remained a star till he died - motown offered him a $1million dollar contract but he turned it down because he knew he would have to compromise on the artistic content of his work, something he vowed never to do.

D banj on the other hand does not have the talent let alone the artistic integrity of someone like Fela, he is hungry and desperate to enter the american market he will adapt his music and image to suit his american handlers (Jay Z and Kanye West) who act on behalf of their own handlers  - white corporate american recording corporations.
He will not care about how low he has to sink in order to make money, the other day i watched one of his videos entitled - mr endowed and i can see just how low he is willing to sink in order to  rub shoulders with what he sees as african american hip hop royalty - i wish him luck.

The white owned music labels stand to gain more from him than he stands to gain from them -if one of the major labels sign him, many other eager and hungry african musicians will follow, africa is a huge market for the americans - in nigeria alone you are looking at a  market of approximately 50 million consumers who will buy anything affiliated to america, that is the only attraction for the americans, they are hoping to take over that market and divert the revenue that is currently going into the pockets of african recording companies into their own pockets.

The tentacles of these white owned record lables extend to places like jamaica which is known for having very very talented musicians, take for instance the very talented cutty ranks who was very very big in the 90s listen to him at the peak of his career:

[flash=300,300]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3mQABFv60o&feature/related[/flash]

but when the white corporate music vampires sank their claws into him , he decided to compromise his talent and start adapting his music to sound more electronic and weak - and now today his music is nothign but watered down garbage.

these vampires have one agenda towards the creativity and genius of black music - destruction

Dont be a fool!,  The reason why these American Illuminati Rap Artist are signing these
Nigerian artist is because they have been instructed ie Jay-Z/Kanye by the people that control
them ie the Media Giants ie Seagram, Viacom, Vivendi Universal, Time Warner that have Majority ownership
of the Big 4 Record Companies that control the Big Labels that Jay-z and Kanye Manage, notice i
say Manage!!!
They do not have 100% ownership, "House Negros"

Also you have be very aware right now in Africa and i saw this in Nigeria that Nigerian Youths
do not look up to American Artist no more. They see people like P-square & co as examples of be
self reliant and succeeding in music and Business and life.

Nigerian Music has nearly destroyed and out competed American Music in Nigeria and also the Nigerian
Artist are becoming more influencial in Africa. P-Square makes over $70,000 Dollars per show in other
African Countries, that shows you their power and influence.

The African Music Market is becoming very lucrative and these Puppets ie Jay-Z/Kanye are trying to
secure the market for their master ie Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Group, Warner Music Group,
Universal Music Group

Its all about control and Influence and its another strategy of trying to control africans and keep them
under using "House-Negros" like Jay-Z/Kanye to keep Field Negros ie Native Africans under submission
on the plantation.

P-square made a statement that was so true last year in an Interview on TV. When they asked them
do you desire to collaborate with American Artist. they said "American Artist are calling them to work
with them and do shows in Africa"
. The further stated that they need to show African Artist that they have to be independant, Learn the business aspect from people that are good at it ie may from abroad, but do not try compromise your own musical integrity!!!"

MY CONCLUSION IS THAT NIGERIAN ARTIST SHOULD LEARN FROM THEIR COUNTER-PARTS THAT ARE
SUCCESSFUL ie P-Square etc, and dont sale out to people who are not interested in your interest.

JAY-Z/Kanye are just interested in sucking dry the Euro,Dollar, Pounds etc of Africans in Diaspora and
in Africa. But they are Just Puppets for -

1 - Sony Music Entertainment
2 - EMI Group
3 - Warner Music Group
4 - Universal Music Group
bro you are on point (as usual)

Our home grown nigerian musicians need to disassociate themselves from the vampires in america and europe who seek to corner and control the minds of impressionable young africans using the medium of music.

Fela Anikulapo Kuti was shunned by western music labels when he was starting out, but when he made it big in africa, then and only then did they want anything to do with him, they didnt like his message but they liked the fact that he could pull in huge crowds ie big bucks for them - today an american music label - Knitting Factory, distributes most of his music.

Jay Z became big after Tupac and Biggie were murdered  - Tupac and Biggie sang from the heart and exposed the rot and decay of america - they had to go, their successors P Diddy, 50 cent and Kanye west merely parrot the agenda of the white owned music business, Kanye West started out with a message but he put his love for money above everything else and joined the club, he paid dearly for it with the life of his own mother - look at him today - he is a shell of what he used to be - a broken man  who sold his soul to the devil in order to join the millionaires club - Jay Z is a former crack cocaine dealer who hit the big time by informing on his black brothers and singing songs degrading and debasing his own people, i hope D banj is prepared for what he is getting himself into.

Gbawe:
Go back and read what I wrote to noted that I said Al Fayed owned Harrods . Not owns.
okay fine, noted.

You will find that most of your observations are issues seen , even to a more prevalent degree, in other African nation. Largely , African nations face similar issues which are a resultant effect of our difficult history vis a vis unfair trading with the West not helped by African leaders without vision or the will to seek better deals for their Nation. We will get there and evolution will see to that .
I agree that we are where we are because of the historical imbalance created by slavery, colonialism and now neo colonialism, however we must be grown up enough to acknowledge that we have a problem and NOT gloss over evrything claiming to be smart when we have so much catching up to do.

Even now , and even with all the mischief, the Petroleum Industry Bill is an example of how our thinking is changing . We are now more interested in controlling our own destiny . We will of course need to continue working to reject the "every man for himself" attitude that is preventing our "smartness" from shining. If we don't get the PIB passed we all now know that it is not because Nigerians are not "smart" enough to conceive such a bill. Issues are more to do with unpatriotic Nigerians colluding with conniving foreigners to actualise selfish agenda that stifles National growth. It has always being like that and your contention that others "smarter" than us exploit us is wrong. We must factor in the part played by saboteurs within our own ranks.
Well, lets wait and see what our dear president says about the PIB upon his return from the US, as i have said earlier, if you are yet to sort out your right to self determination then you will continue to go around in circles,  its all very well to pass legislation stipulating how you want things to be run, but if your "master" slaps you down and says - sorry I dont want you to do that - you must do it this way instead - where does that leave you?  surely you cant expect to be regarded as a "nation" state in charge of its own affairs if you take orders from an external power.

The changes desired won't happen overnight. Folks can believe it or not but it was only last Sunday I was talking to a Ghanaian who is one of the top boys at Ecowas. He is permanently based in Abuja and has been there for many years. This guy actually praised the thinking of Nigerians others do not have . He said , and I quote, "Nigeria will be untouchable if the electricity situtation is sorted out" . He gave a comprehensive analysis of policies and real socio-economic issues that shows he understands issues effectively. Of course we have a long way to go but the same is true for many nations in Africa bar a few. What you write below is an example of seeing ourselves as extricated from the problem;
Yes the same is true of the entire african continent - but lets be realistic about our true position and stop pretending as if we have reached the promised land.

You think you are the only one clever enough to work out what is written above? How many sound books and articles on unfair trading have Nigerians written? You really think if you get to a leadership position today you will easily defeat an entrenched system to reverse the situation of "those who are smarter than us ripping us off"? Evolution and change in attitude , for us and for others (our "unfair" trade partners) will take care of many issues in the end . This will be gradual . We find ourselves where we are today because of a combination of many issues . Some of those issues are of our own doing while others are not . We can indeed criticise but it is not objective to malign Nigerians as not smart because of deficiencies seen in others.
i dont think I alone will be able to defeat western neo colonialism, however if more of our people are educated about the reality of where we stand as a nation it will make our collective progress that much easier, isnt it better to have a well informed populace who understand why things are the way they are than an ignorant public who continue to wallow in blissful ignorance?

there is no point bamboozling an entire nation of 150 million people and telling them lies about how "smart" we are when clearly that is not the case.  I thinks its best to portray the nigerian situation for what it is, lets start by educating the youth (who are the future of nigeria) by telling them exactly what is going on - that way we save time and start focusing on ways to get ourselves out from under the grip of neo colonialism.

One can only expect you to highlight the negatives to promote your agenda of "giving a dog a bad name to hang it". I don't even know why you still deem yourself Nigerian with your negative writing that is easily discredited by folks even averagely knowledgeable about actual events on the ground .

I guess Wole Soyinka is not "smart" . This would explain why he won a globally coveted Nobel prize in literature. Chinua Achebe nko? What a classic example of a Nigerian who is not smart. Kase Lawal, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Obi Ezekwesili and many others are also fools who think themselves to be "smart". In fact most Nigerians are not smart at all.
hahahaha - so the Nobel prize is now a determinant of intelligence - Gbawe let me let you in on a little secret - the Nobel prize is usually given to africans who are known to promote western ideologies or economic policies - Wole Soyinka is not the best academic in the arena of literature we have in nigeria but because he remains mute in his criticism of imperialism and neo colonialism he was selected for the prize, also his literary style of writing is more in tune with middle class white westerners than africans,

Henry Kissinger who was america's national security adviser during the vietnam war and who presided over the carpet bombing of millions of vietnamese and cambodians won the nobel prize for peace - hahahahaha so i wouldnt give any credibility to the nobel prize.

Lest i forget, Obama was also awarded a nobel peace prize for doing absolutely nothing at the time towards securing world peace - and ironically has now decided to launch an unprovoked war in libya.

Okonjo Iweala is an IMF stooge who negotiated a debt relilef payment which saw nigeria parting with a whopping $18 billion dollars in PART payment of our supposed debts to the Paris club, a payment which was described as one of the largest transfers of wealth from africa to europe in modern history - this gargantuan sum was paid despite the fact that nigeria had not borrowed any money from the IMF since 1992 - is that your idea of intelligence?
Politics › Re: Nigerians Think They Are Smart But Really: by cap28: 12:18pm On Jun 12, 2011
We havent extricated ourselves from the grip of neo colonialism - our economic policies are dictated by the WTO, the IMF and the world bank, we are incapable of providing the most basic necessities of life to our own citizens, there is mass exodus of nigerians due to the harshness inflicted by IMF dictated austerity measures on our populace and yet there are people on here STILL insisting that we are smart- what kind of smartness is that please? Of what use are academic qualifications when our economic policies are decided in washington, london and paris?

We live in another mans country with these so called qualifications and end up as a source of cheap labour to these very nations that are exploiting our own countries - and yet we feel grateful that we are being tossed a few crumbs from the very people that have fomented the economic destruction of our own nations - what is so smart about that ?

Gbawe mentioned that Al Fayed owns Harrods here in the UK - (he has since sold it to the Qatari royal family- a country which is a staunch ally of britain and america) however, I cant imagine the british agreeing for the chinese - their main economic competitors to buy up Harrods -

The chinese have tried several times to buy up american owned companies in the US and have been blocked at every turn.

going back to al fayed - despite the fact that he created all those jobs in london during his ownership of harrods, he was STILL denied british citizenship by the british govt - which goes to show you that the europeans do not care how much investment you bring into their countries - as long as you are a foreigner - they still impose restrictions on how far you can go - it was because of the hostile and shabby treatment (as well as the mysterious death of his son) which led to him leaving britain permanently, compare that to the way the nigerian govt sucks up to the lebanese, indian and of course european business men in nigeria.

the point is that when non europeans try to buy up businesses in europe or america they are either blocked or subjected to the most rigorous scrutiny and these investors are obliged to take on the indigenous workers in these countries on terms that have to be favourable to the country and the workers of those countries.

In nigeria the reverse is the case -ANY foreign nation can buy up a business in nigeria, fire the nigerian staff and bring in their own indigenous staff or retain the nigerian staff and subject them to substandard working conditions all with the agreement of the nigerian govt
why? because the nigerian govt has no real power and can not defend the interests of its own s own nation. Why? because the nigerian govt has signed up to WTO economic policies which DICTATE the economic policies of almost every african nation including nigeria - the nigerian govt in turn agrees to go along with these crippling policies because they do not have the interests of their own people at heart and the nigerian people in turn buy the lies that these crooks peddle and live in perpetual hope that one day these crooks will have a change of heart - if you cant even hold your own govt to account but still claim to be smart then i fail to see why anyone should for one minute think nigerians are smart people.

I therefore can not understand why we still continue to deceive ourselves about our supposed "smartness" when we continue to be ripped off and exploited by people who really are smarter than us but who camouflage their hidden agenda with noble word and false promises.
