Olaolufred:

I would have respected your views more if you had faced issues we are discussing.
But from this words you typed, You betray who you are.
People who knows what is called reasoning will know who is who.
Don't score yourself high for all you typed for that will be like your govt's score card. "Nigerians are now living like kings and queens" they said. But no one can fool everyone forever. No.
.

The truth is that you can never see or face the truth. Look at my earlier posts. I attacked your ignorance, not your personality. Atleast you would have looked at the post about ELETRO-BUS, I posted it before your sleepy eyes could comprehend the news trend from across the globe. All am trying to do is to teach dullards like you how to process info before dabbling into unnecessary arguements, name calling and GEJ hating. For your info, am a patriotic Nigerian who has the best interest of this nation at heart, who wants us to succeed, who wants the policies that will push up our economy to work, who wants less hate, more love and cooperation amongst our people. I need to make you know that no amount of money can make me change nor sell out on Nigeria. U hater who will never see anything good in others.

Refugee 1: I don't know what is good about the planned visit by the Brazilians. I remember in late 2010 a group of investors from the Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland) came to Nigeria with good intents of investing in the nation's power sector. I was representing a company in Norway who wanted to invest in Oyan dam, Ikere gorge, Dadin Kowa Dam and Farin Ruwa Dam. the combined hydroelectric capacity of these dams is at least 50MW. After all the fanfare, nothing came out of the visit. Among the investors that came then were finance institutions from these countries who were willing to invest some good money. Remember GEJ was the President then.

I don't know how familiar NLanders are with Gurara hydroelectric power station. The first phase of 15MW has been completed and commissioned in late 2010 but up till now power is yet to be evacuated from the facility. The reason being lack of transmission facility. The cost running a transmission line and switch yard from Gurara to the nearest transmission network is about one fifth the cost of the plant. Yet the Government is doing nothing about that power wasting daily.

Or do we talk about the billions cubic feet of natural and associated gas being wasted annually while NNPC and the Government is looking the other way. What about infrastructures that are constructed without maintenance plans.

We can rebuild our economy and improve our infrastructure without foreign investments if he Government applies a holistic approach. Let us apply the principle that some countries as poor as Nigeria before once adopted, that is, if we can't produce it we don't need it. I don't see anything good coming out of this planned visit. It will go the way of many similar visits in the past.
. If you took time to read the last post by the poster of this interesting topic that has taken up our interest, you will appreciate the steps taken to address your fears and most of your questions will be answered. You were part of the team....agreed. But take time to find out what is happening. Look up the post " Jonathan's power sector reform is working and on track"

Sometimes, I wonder @ the high level of dumbness and ignorance exhibited by people who have labelled themselves and their unborn generations back benching peddlers of lies and half truths. It is really surprising and shocking that resources were wasted to educate minds that ordinarily should have been liberated or better still taken a shot at wise judgements and discernment, but has chosen folly and perpetual darkness in wanton ignorance. What I am saying is, if what GEJ and his team said is gibberish or political media score, what will will you say about the MOU signed with the brazilian power giant ELECTRO-BUS for power, growth and optimisation, just after the president of brazil agreed to leading a high powered delegation to NIgeria? I am miffed at the reasonable ones here who join issues with you ignorant lot. No wonder the poster of this interesting development in far away brazil has ignored you erroneously anything goes lot. Should we come to a standstill in our quest for growth and development because some retarded set of people are hell bent on dragging us back to the 14th century? Or stop making giant strides because the supposed northern leaders, elders, wives, fathers, brothers who know these supposedly faceless people destroying lives, economic and social developments in the northern regions of this great nation has decided to keep mute? My father will always say " that the sheep that is happy defecating on his owners house does not know that his tail is included in the mess" be wise!
Politics / Re: Brazilian President To Lead Delegation Of Businessmen To Nigeria by Captainajama: 7:34pm On Jun 21, 2012
The man is gradually proving his critics wrong by showing them that he has a mission with a direction. When they woke up and heard that he has gone to to brazil, they wanted to skin him alive. I am seriously waiting to see what they will say this time. But trust the haters, they will also manufacture unexisting things about the man. They won't see talk and talk now.

Finally, some blind critics will lack salvo to fire or better still, they will fire blanks. This was done when the man dey Brazil o! He said they were on top of the situation, but the dim witted and slow learning blind critics said he was nt,rather, that he abandoned his responsibilities.

Seriously folks, we are making a mountain from an anthill. Why is it that delegates or no delegates, attending summit or not is becoming an obsession for us. For me and most people on this forum, GEJ attended becaus he had to, for the block heads that do not know the importance of earth summit, teaching you what your dull brain has refused to process and assimilate will be a fight against futility. Enough of this mudslinging and name calling. He couldn't have woken up and left the shores of this country if the government had not come on top of the situation in Kaduna, and lest your dull minds are not able to process this, it is just what the insurgent, heartless brothers of ours from the north set out to achieve. We allow our personal inhibitions to cloud our sense of reasoning and judgement. I will advice that unsubstantiable half truths stop taking up our productive time on this forum. Arguing on rumours sounds and looks stupid, and we should stop abusing media networks and freedom of speech, even though I know that some unemployable social deviants now use it a veritable tools of lie spreading.
Celebrities / Messi Is Far Bigger Than Ronaldo by Captainajama: 9:47pm On Jun 20, 2012
Messi is bigger than Ronaldo, sentiments aside. I have been running comparative analysis, though both of them ar gainers a he xpense of football. They should have graced this stage separately, because football is weeping that they came in he same era.

ypzilanti: Jonathan! Jonathan! Jonathan! How many times did I call your name?

I dont know how many people went with you, and I have my issues with Sahara Reporters credibility, but seriously what the F...is Earth Summit and how does it impact the average man on the street? So many jobless aides and ministers to send to that talk shop when serious issues are boiling in Nigeria.

Since they say you can govern from anywhere, I advice that you relocate to the trouble zones in the north... immediately...

...And please start putting legislation in place to create and regulate state policing in Nigeria. That is actually the true long term solution to Boko Haram.

Thank you.

. @ypzilanti, so you don't know what earth summit is? I just found out that most of you are so lazy you cannot find out about he issues you open your foul smelling mouths on. Come to think of it,what is the problem with cassava? Just the other day, Malaysia came here and took oil palm, look at them now. Tell me, are you guys scared you might turn to cultivating it? There is reward in hard work....this nonsense about cassava should stop. We should encourage the president @ dt approach, the problem is tha when e does, una go sa em don do, wen d man no do, una go say em no do, damn u power mongers and tribalists.
Politics / Re: Gej's Delegation To Brazil Is World's Largest - SaharaReporters by Captainajama: 6:19pm On Jun 20, 2012
Nigeria cannot be seen not to support global initiatives and programmes that will enhance humanity and be beneficial to our unborn children. About the delegation, it will interest you to know tha this useless bunch of haters are making us waste our energy debating on a 10 line report from one unknown and attention seeking fact less Sahara reporter who has no inkling of how governments are run, and who conjures up figures and stats to back up unsubstantiable stories, just to fuel controversy and recruit half witted critiques all over this forum?

This is arrant nonsense! So these GEJ haters want the government to play into the hands of these social deviants called boko haram? Or are they saying tha we should cancel our international engagements because there is no hierarchy and order in government? Why do we have chains of command? In my opinion, the first step was to calm the situation and stop reprisal attacks(that was done)and people.....there is a sitting government in Kaduna. I hate it when people deliberately air their stupidity and ignorance for all to see. Next thing, you people will suggest that should withdraw the joint task force and go with his cabinet members and legislators to fight boko haram insurgence. Do you even understand the essence or meaning of the earth summit? Do you really know why the food chain, eco balance and endangered species should be saved? Maybe, we have to open a sub forum on nairaland to educate people first before they start commenting on important local or global issues. Stop showing us how dysfunctional you are. Come to think of it, no government grinds to a halt because the head of ha government had to attend one important function or the other, because some pessimist, haters and uncoordinated bad belle critics will never see anything good in others save what they and their principals do.

Kabikala: Am I the only one that is aware of the massive gas pipeline project by Chevron, Shell and other multinationals in the Delta region of Nigeria? The project will be completed later this year and I am surprised the Minister did not refer to this in his interview.
am surprised too because my elder brother is an engineer on that project and he started changing his power views when he found out about the sincerity and the zeal to complete tha project in time.
Politics / Re: Jonathan's Power Reform Is Positive, working and on track by Captainajama: 10:05am On Jun 19, 2012
.@ swintiney, some of us had started regarding you with some respect, but it seems youwan2 lose it . I for one have been on nairaland for a long time, and don't think it is a crime to have a new ID alongside the old one. If you look at the post and nature f arguements, you will agree with me that it does not look like the poster is new.....though am not his advocate but I do not ascribe to he fact that newness on his forum has anything to do with how well. There is a saying that it is not how far,but how well. Moreover, we are deliberating on an important national issue and in all the years I have spent on nairaland,we are and have been advocates of sensible and rational arguements....you inclusive. Let us focus on the issue at hand and stop this immature ways of reasoning and name calling. What attracted me to this topic is the fact that in my area at Agbama Housing estate in Umuahia where we had issues of not seeing NEPA lite for over 2 months and these stupid bills will just pop up with the corrupt NEPA officials(PHCN)coming to cut lite and asking for money to leave it, it has been a different story. The completion of the Alaoji power project and the sub station a ohiya has done an incredible job of power boost,as I speak, you can run your check or ask anyone from Umuahia and it's environs, we have lite for between 15 to 18 hours daily. It came as a shock and funny enough the state governor is taking I as one of his achievements. For every NIgerian to start feeling the impact of what GEJ is doing in this sector, might take a little time due the factors that has been X-rayed on this forum. So, I would appreciate it if some people that are sincerely saying things that are clear to them to be listened to and we can now constructively criticise with factual and substantiable evidences, just like I put to you now( so that you can find out and tell me it is all made up). Maturity is not only when you are 50. Peace.
Politics / Re: Jonathan's Power Reform Is Positive, working and on track by Captainajama: 10:58pm On Jun 18, 2012
drnoel: read that interview some days back and its clear they still have a lot of problems. My main worry though is the continous use of gas to power electricity. I think there should be a radical change in that direction. U guys should remeber that it is now estimated that the world oil would last 4 just the next 50 years and then it would run out. Guys tell me, once the oil Nigeria relies heavily on runs out, what would be the countries next source of income at the end of the petrochemical age (this is something our leaders are not thinking about). Other countries are now investing heavily on green power, even Europe and America is talking of raising solar enegry in the sahara desert to supply them with electricity when the petrochemical age ends. Heard their estimated budget is a very whooping sum but they seem to be committed to seeing it thru, but Nigeria is still talking of Gas turbines.
this is why this forum is important. We talk on the present and look at the future

Whether you call urslf muppet or something from one of you cartoon networks, wake up and leave that ur obscure part of town, move around and see things for urslf. I am not one of them my brother, but the country has suffered a lot and all this decay we are seeing in character and works Issa a result of years of bad governance and wrong financial dealings. All I am saying is that we should give GEJ a chance to start the gradual change process, if you are to swap positions with him and wage the wars he is waging everyday, you will understand that our pas leaders really sold this nation and took us o the brink of destruction. I have begun to see why his detractors want him to fail........they are not having their way as usual. Think about it analytically, just the way I have done.

@ballabrigs,we should know when someone is actually trying to do a good thing. The police force is long overdue for reform and overhaul, just like PHCN. Take a closer look at this two sectors and you will find out that the magnitude of decay therein s quite overwhelming, GEJ is trying to do what no one has done in the 52 year history of this nation(simply to stop the conduit pipes connected into this sectors from draining us further) let us not be too pessimistic and give this administration a chance.

Ikeymann00, facts are more appreciated. You people should leave this guy alone, whether you want to accept it or not. This guy is doing a good job and soon, you will be among the firsts to change the tune of your music. I don't think you read that article properly, maybe you are among those people that argue because they heard someone doing so.

Swintine,be constructive and unbiased in ur criticisms. Don't just talk because you wan2. What GEJ is doing in that sector within this one year in office is what past leaders failed to do. Facts please!
Politics / Re: Jonathan's Power Reform Is Positive, working and on track by Captainajama: 6:22pm On Jun 15, 2012
Was beginning to have my doubts about GEJ, but as a person with analytical mind and fact oriented life, I started snooping and gathering facts. I believed when I travelled to the Abia State capital last 3 weeks and spent to weeks with little no power outage, something that was unimaginable few years ago. I travelled to Owerri and got the same feel after 2 days. This is becoming a surprise. When I saw the interview, I took time to read and analyse what Barth Nnaji was saying. To say the least, am impressed with GEJ's power reform.

Pessimism has become a normal thing in Naija, but let me ask you a question, what positive contribution have you made towards the growth and actualisation of the dreams of this country? I am just saying that the era of just saying things for talking sake should be swept aside, this is a generation of upwardly mobile, smart and intelligent people, and our energy should not be channelled at mudslinging and name calling. Bring out your facts and figures, make we see weda u d yarn opata!
Politics / Re: Faroukgate: How Much Bribe Money Did Farouk Collect In All by Captainajama: 2:06pm On Jun 15, 2012
Farougegate is more appropriate. The media should make a mince meat of this issue, and at the same time should be cautious. Cautious in the sense that they should be sure of their information before releasing to the public. Let it not go the way of other write ups where we are deliberately or mistakenly misled by false information or on hear say. Farouk failed in conduct appropriate for a parliamentarian,he should be suspended and the onus now lies on his people to wield their political powers ad recall him. My people should not abuse the freedom of speech as it is and start peddling information that they are not sure of. Farouk is a member of PDP, and we should watch and see the stand of this party. This should not be time for bias and name calling..........someone said GEJ has come again, and I began to wonder. Wonder in the sense that some of us has followed this case from the onset and are trying to figure out wet in concern fowl with teeth or agbero with overload. Jonathan may not be as charismatic as they come, but I can see focus and sincerity of purpose in his actions, we should not pull him down.
