^^^kikeige, that's lot of space to cover. I will suggest porcelain tiles for the high traffic areas and ceramics for less traffic area. Porcelain tiles are more rugged making them ideal for harsher applications such as flooring. Also, because of their higher density, porcelain tiles are less likely to absorb moisture (0.5%) which makes them more durable and more resistant to staining. See attached pictures. Check your email for more details.

Am Alone, without any prejudice, the current installation looks better than the latter. Sincerely, the guy tried and I felt bad you fired him, but claimed it has nothing to do with our comments. Please, re-hire that guy and give him total supervision. It's not as bad as you think. |

Eyes are itching, pls more updates. |
Am Alone:^^^ Am Alone, @Sprumbaba has said it all. Like I said previously, you got good looking tiles but your tiler did a shoddy job. You need grout for the finishing (I guess, that's what your referring to white cement). Grout is meant to fill the spaces between the tiles but unfortunately, I couldn't see any space between the installed tiles. The tiles are not well aligned. Click the following link and show your tiler how wall tiles are installed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYais38h5Qk NB: I'm not here to criticize but to call your attention to what I noticed in your project. My bungalow is at the same level with yours and I'm here to learn and contribute all I can. Oluwa Champion!!! |
Am Alone, the tiles looks good but the tiler did a bad job. In fact, DIY can look better than that. Don't get me wrong, your house looks good but, I would suggest you get good hands for your interior finishing. I hope, you take this as a constructive criticism? |
drills:Mushin is a popular place in Lagos. When you get to Mushin ask Okada people where to get building material, they will take you there. |
Am Alone: |
Am Alone, are your interior and exterior doors local made or imported? Can you provide the cost of your double entrance door and interior doors. I'm looking at shipping some tiles for my house. However, I'm being skeptical, based on the feedback i'm getting in regards to a good tiler. I'm willing to buy all materials needed which includes tile, thinset and grout for the installation of the tiles. |
You are Alone, answer my question now abi me and you dey fight? Caseymoney: Can you provide the cost of the new roof, quoins(corner stone), window hood, and pillar? |
Am Alone, welcome back. I decided to go solo since you went solo and have been a silent follower of all the threads on nairaland. Can you provide the cost of the new roof, quoins(corner stone), window hood, and pillar? Once again, welcome back. |
Hi y'all, If you have pictures to showcase like Colin Adua and Brabus, you can post them at the thread below. Let's keep this thread clean. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-700687.0.html#msg8604051. olubuffett:Nigerians like good things but doesn't know the purpose of a gutter roof. The aspect they like is the beauty. That's the reason non of the attached houses have channels for water to the drainage. |
More picx coming!!!

I'm absolutely sure that this house is one of the most incredible houses I've ever seen. Of course, the pictures help a lot, but the shapes, the straight lines, the use of a few materials, elements that I believe are main points on the contemporary architecture, are all too evident on that house in La Finca, Spain.

Building houses back home for some of us abroad might be a nightmare because we are not SMART enough. I have been able to build my house and also assisted a friend without stepping naija. Here's my strategies, I have friends, family and a Building Pro. I'm always a step ahead of these guys and even get things done much easier than people back home. I use divide and rule to get the best out of these people with internet, mobile phone and all other technologies in place. I think it's silly for one to invest several millions on a project and has nothing to show for it. This was how I started my project. I use a friend I trusted and knew he's comfortable and God fearing and not the ones that ask you for a dollar to eat. I wired money to my friend for exchange or do a wire from my account in the US to my Nigeria account. I tell my friend to scrutinize the builder for any excesses and my younger ones back home are also there to give me the progress report. I sent them phones, laptop and cameras before engaging them in such project. They thought it was a gift but It wasn't just a gift to me but an instrument to monitor all my project back home. They use the camera to capture work done and the laptop to attach captured photos to my ftp sites. I also have an Uncle I trust who left the US for Nigeria. I call him for help If I need to know the cost of building materials in Lagos. I also have my loving Mom who does the job with her phone without moving an inch. You don't have to entrust your money to just one person. However, some contractors in Nigeria are thieves. They take their profit from a project capital before the commencement of the project or use your money for a project they have abandoned due to misappropriation. They live beyond their means and tend to use peters money to complete Paul's project. In short, for those of you abroad like me willing to invest in the property business back home, get a good building contractor for your project and have somebody on ground to checkmate him because 80% of them are not reliable. You may go for young and growing contractors like Brabus and the likes who has a future and a career to pursue in the building industry and not those Big thieves that would use your hard earned money to chase married woman and drink guilder. That's my own piece of advice. |
kalu_j:@kalu_j, I fee you. You don't have to respond to Maria_P. She has nothing to contribute and the only thing she can do is post something controversial to get peoples attention. Guess what, the best reaction is to ignore such people. Please, nobody should respond to her post. Just put her on your ignore list. |
kem4:@kem4, check the link below and you may contact this guy for your interlocking stone price and installation. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-607360.0.html Femson2011: |
lawyer:Lawyer, clean up this thread and let's do something profitable. |
Please, let's get back to the previous thread. I hate redundancy. What spyder and some of you are doing on NL is absolute redundancy in the computer world. Let's stick to one thread because it will help a lot new to the thread understand how we all started and also make NL clean. I love the diversity in the original thread and will continue to post on that thread. If your still interested, we are now on page 101, ![]() |
spyder880:Is there restriction to the number of page a thread could take? Let's get going I'm sure this thread is still on till infinity. Mind y'all, I started page 100 with hope for the hopeless. Spyder, there's no need for another thread, let's keep it rolling. I remain number 1 poster on every page and I'm assuring you this thread will not end until my house and every other major players houses are completed |
Hope for the hopeless, Jer 29:11 These words of comfort were originally spoken to the Israelites living in exile in Babylon. God assured them that despite their present difficulties, He had plans for them--plans for them to prosper and be restored. We don't share that historical context, but God's promise remains: He knows of our struggles and is working to help us prosper, even when we can't see it. Job 4:6 Should not your piety be your confidence and your blameless ways your hope? Job 5:16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth. Enjoy your weekend!!!! ![]() |
Am Alone:You don't have to tell me who your father was. All you need to tell Colin Adua is you inherit your wealth and yet working hard to sustain. I also grew up in that same Olodi Apapa. Our family house and street is still there. My Maternal Grandfather's street is Alhaji Adebola Street and our family house not far from God dey Cinema off Idewu street. We have properties all over Tin-Can area (Olodi Apapa axis). Make you no come do us shakara here ( Just kidding!!!). I didnt inherit any wealth but got the best legacy a parent could give his offspring. "Education". Precisely, with your response and detailed explanation, Colin Adua would have a rethink if he's trying to do something stupid to acquire wealth overnight. |
jerryben12:@jerryben12, thanks for your contribution. what do you think about the sanitary wares. Do you think it worth buying it in the states, please advice. @ Am Alone, thanks for your contribution. Let me know how much the marble would cost and give me the name of the toilet ware you bought so I can insist on that quality. Im not visiting soon, but my wife would and we need the house completed before she arrives. Send the prices privately to my email. I appreciate you. |
