Goodmarlian:The irony is that the people who should fear a breakup the most are the people pushing for a breakup. Everyday we hear about how they are present in every corner of Nigeria and somehow in their brains they don’t realize they will be sent packing? Is it the small geographical area they occupy they will sell their goods or feed themselves? Is it the land where they don’t sell land to even themselves they will find land to build properties? Don’t worry about the Yorubas, we were fine before and we will be fine after. Instead of SW raking 270b a month from vat and keeping only N73b, worst case, it will rake only N140b but keep all its N140b. The SS will take N100b and keep its N100b. What will the SE do, for anll the talk of we” are business men” all the entire SE generates in a month is N8b in vat. Except you want to start charging VAT on drug trafficking? The Ibos are the greatest beneficiaries of Nigeria but they complain the most.while it is true they are politically excluded, unfortunately that is of their own making and down to their attitude.

Bigkoko:If you expected anyone to read your drivel after opening with such a line you are deluded, daft or both. I can assure you 99% of those who saw your post did not read it after your 1st sentence. |
The hypocrisy of the west on full display. If you don’t respect the institutions you created then don’t expect the global south to take you seriously…..and indeed that is why we don’t. |
mokset123:Tinubu did not “prevent”, he protested against subsidy removal. There are 2 different things. Just like Atiku and Obi who today are complaining about subsidy removal and currency floating bot said they would do the same things in their campaigns. That’s what politicians do, they lie because if they tell you the truth you won’t vote for them. What that shows is that the Jonathan government of the day was weak and knowing that subsidy had to be removed did not have the balls to do what was right for the country. |
aariwa:Like I said, you are living proof that western education simply means you are able to remmember 1+1=2 in an exam but has not equipped you with the tools to reason rationally. Your are here talking about the “eyes of the law”. A man has been been pardoned which means he has been found guilty of a crime. Yet you are calling a man who has not yet been found guilty in the same eyes of the law a criminal! Basically the summation of your education is that a man who has not not been convicted for a crime is a criminal but a man who has been convicted sent to prison is not because he was pardoned? Like I said we need to revisit our educational system. As well as our morality. Bode George is a pardoned criminal. He is still a criminal because he has been found guilty in a court. Tinubu is not a criminal because he has not been found guilty of any crime by any court. |
onuman:If anyone wonders how is it possible that of all the brains in the SE, Obi, Kanu and Ekpa are the ibo leaders, read this post again. |
Badassniggga:If you don’t want to pay the price of the food a rich man eats, don’t eat the rich man’s food. Why is a poor man driving a 5litre Jeep? Even in Europe they don’t drive these cars. |
aariwa:It is as if you did not go to school. Someone was convicted meaning he was guilty and you are comparing that to someone who was never convicted. Is it not someone who committed and was found guilty you pardon? When we complain of bad leaders, it is because we have bad followers. Read my post again I said “in sane climes”. It is because we live in an environment populated by your likes that a Bide George can open his mouth to talk publicly talk less be considered an elder statesman, talk less be a member of the board of trustees of the leading opposition party. In a sane environment when you are pardoned, you live out your life quietly thankful to be free. Bill Clinton pardoned a billionaire oil trader called Marc Rich, he has not been heard of since. |
aariwa:I hope you know Bode George is a convicted criminal who went to prison. In a sane clime and if he had any shame, he would be quiet like his convicted contemporaries Ibori, Nyame and Dariye. These are all PDP men by the way. |
If you watch his actions from day 1, this is a man who from the get go only intends to spend 1 term. Many people assume he will seek a second term…..I don’t think he will. He has achieved his ambition and he is taken some crucial irreversible structural decisions in 18 months the likes of which those with 8 yrs knew had to be done but did not have the balls to execute. Subsidy removal, currency floatation, LG reforms, VAT reforms. These are irreversible structural changes more meaningful and long lasting than any president before him and yet he is only 18 months in office. If you look at all the presidents before him, which of them has made such seismic structural changes? Yet he is only 18months in office, so you ask why? Some (subsidy and forex) were necessitated by what he met on ground but I also feel he is doing these things either because he knows he only has 1 term or he is doing them early in the hope the benefits manifest before his second term. To me this is a man with the mindset of “ I will do what I feel needs to be done in my 1st term because that is all I am going to get”. Tinubu is a student of history, he knows every southern president has faced opposition from the North for a second term. Obasanjo had to physically go down on his knees and beg Atiku (aka the North) before he got his second term and hence the way he treated Atiku once he got his second term. If not for the incompetence of the opposition Tinubu knows he would never have been president. Everything Tinubu is doing suggests a man in a hurry to cement his place in history, which suggests to me he may not be planning for a second term. The only thing he hasn’t done is restructure the country politically but he still has 2 and a half years. I think the joke may be on those who think Tinubu wants a second term. Tinubu is a political grandmaster, the greatest this country has ever produced, bar none! He understands the political implications of his actions and increasingly they don’t suggest a man who cares about his second term. Actions such as the appointment of Bwala at the angst of his loyalists like Onakpasa or insisting the VAT bill should be debated in the National Assembly despite opposition from some Northern governors suggest he doesn’t care and is not projecting a second term. The one thing I know, the next president won’t be Atiku or Obi. I suspect he is prepared to take hard decisions and take the fall and is lining up someone to take over from him in 2027. Already, Tinubu is the best president Nigeria has ever had. Many of you will insult me for saying so but the “best presidents” or “great presidents” are not called such until decades after they leave office. That is usually when the beneficial effects of their policies are felt. Everybody talks today about Awolowo but they never tell you the masses were not happy with the taxes he imposed on farmers etc to pay for “free” education or the sheds he built as classrooms. People talk today about FDR and the “new deal”, but they forget he seized people’s gold and imposed hardships on the people to pay for it. Today bar Reagan, he is undoubtedly Americas most celebrated modern day president but at the time he was called a communist and a facist. If you know America, you will know being called a communist is the greatest of insults!! Tinubu is operating like a man looking to secure his place in history, not a man seeking a second term. |
Chucks13:some people like to engage in exercises in futility, same with state creation. I said at the beginning.....read the requirements in the constitution. even if it scaled the house an senate, it needs to be ratified by 2/3rds of the state house of assemblies. If you can see the response to the VAT bill, you can see thats not going to happen. No governor is going to sanction a constitutional ammmendment that makes him weaker or reduces his allocation. In yoruba we have something we call "arodan"...that is when you send someone on an errand that it is impossible to deliver to keep him busy and distracted. |
IGBOPROMISE1:Tinubu will continue to defeat the opposition so long as they have leaders like Atiku and Obi and they have daft followers. If i were a PDP or LP supporter, I would be very annoyed that the 2 of them wasted my vote and lost an election that was theirs for the taking because they couldnt agree amongst themselves. instead they tell you it was rigging or judiciary and now Tinubu and daft as their supporters are, you parrot the narrative. Do you know the result of you not holding them to account? They will do the same thing in 2027 and will split the opposition vote again and lose again. |
Tinubu is good but the ineptitude of the opposition makes him look more of an enigma than he is. Like i always say, they had 14.7m votes, they couldnt keep their house together, they split their votes and the man with 8m votes is president. First they say it was rigging, then they blame INEC, then the judges now they are blaming Tinubu, everybody they blame instead of taking responsibility for their ineptitude. the fact that they are still defelcting and engaged in a blame game tells me they are not ready for 2027. If you are blaming others you have not taken responsibility for your misteps, if you haven't taken responsibility, you have not acknowledged your errors, if you dont know your errors, you dont know what to fix. how can you fix a problem when you dont even know what your problems is? Obi is tweeting everyday seeking relevance, subtly campaigning by ending all his tweets with a new Nigeria os POssible, that is not a man seeking to step down for anybody. Atiku on the other hand is not going to play second fiddle for anyone, why would he campaign for the same OBi that destroyed his life ambition and he cant be VP again. so 2023 will replay itself. |
Abujaexpress:I lie? |
Abujaexpress:A career at Arise Tv is in her future...for people who like to speak English but have nothing in their heads. |
Kemetian:Do you expect a black man educated with the white mans books to know his own history? Like Fela sang in his song, I remember being taught in school by a Nigerian teacher that Mungo park discovered river Niger! Imagine that!!! Social media and the internet has really exposed the miseducation of the African and the failure of the western educational system to train the African mind in how to think but instead devalued his self worth. So many Africans have been miseducated. There is a lot of unlearning needed. The western education curriculum needs to be thrown away!!! It has gotten to a point where it is difficult to have an Intelligent non professional conversation with an educated Nigerian and it appears the more western educated and more degrees a Nigerian has the more stooopid he is. The average educated Nigerian is at best only an expert in his field and can’t think or reason properly on issues outside his profession. You can literally see the low self esteem, colo mentality, inferiority complex, ooozing out of them. We have been conditioned to feel that unless we are looking, talking, aspiring to be like the white man we are worthless and that progress means being like the white man. |
Kemetian:Whenever one listens to Fela the takeaway always is that our problem is largely a pysche problem and it is not today, it is not a new thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbLAIz-LjM4?si=idOf00lW7ey1dpPh as him go to school before (no solution) dem go teach am plenty things (no solution) dem go teach am plenty english (no solution) dem no teach am nothing for himself (no solution) dem go give am certificate (no solution) to go carry file for office (no solution) dem go give am certificate (no solution) to make am certified slave (no solution) dem go give am certificate (no solution) to make am civil servant (no solution) dem go teach am for dem school (no solution) dat Mungo Park discovered River Niger (no solution ….and this is why we have so many educated eeediots on Nairaland speaking English but talking nonsense….they were not educated to think but to “carry files for office”. |
The Nigerian situation is this: We had for years been borrowing to pay subsidies. All the removal of subsidies means we are no longer accumulating debt to pay subsidies. Whatever net gains if any has been used to offset previous debt payments hence our debt to revenue has dropped from 97% to around 65%. It’s not like we removed subsidy and there is all of a sudden a cash windfall to spend. The net effect is we are no longer borrowing for subsidy. It’s like a junkie who has been on drugs for years and has now quit, the damage to his health of years of addiction is still there, all stopping means is that he is not doing anymore further damage to his body. We also removed the subsidy on forex by floating the Naira. The net effect is that the government gets more Naira for its limited forex. This translates into more Naira revenue for distribution to the federal, states and LGs. The bleeding has been stopped however there is still no meaningful funds available for real development. Hence our paltry budget and his appeal at the G20 that we need help and if you don’t help us all these eeediots you see on Nairaland will japa to your country and bring their eeediot ways to your countries. So help us to develop our country so they don’t come to your countries to spoil your countries. |
Nonexisting1:Again highlighting why the state wasted taxpayers money attempting to educate many Nigerians. The message is in the post, the dates are relevant, if you cannot put 2 and 2 together. You are an educated mor0n! |
Greenfusion:You mean the entitled shallow brain dead opposition who feel they should be rewarded for poor election strategies? How do you have 14.7m votes and lose to the man who got 8m and call it rigging because out of ego and in the spirit of “no gree for anybody” you decide to split your 14m votes into 6m, 6.7m and 2m? |
Nonexisting1:Look at the dates. We seriously need to revise our education system. Comments clearly show it is not fit for purpose and just producing adults incapable of thinking and analyzing situations.
|
Kemetian:The guy is typical of western educated Nigerians who obtain certificates by regurgitating textbooks at exams but in all their time in the classroom never learned how to think for themselves. I think Fela called his type “certified slaves” |
Cocolatti:If you truly understand the problems facing the country you will do more than beg. |
jnrbayano:You are right. It is the pro-chancellor who is chairman of council |
techbro1:The chancellor is a ceremonial position. The VC is a full time employee and the administrative head of the university |
neyoworld247:Like i said, entitlement mentality. If you truly are a business man then you know that Successful business men failed many times. They pick themselves up and start again. The problem for most people is capital......You have the capital to start again instead you want to sell everything to go and wipe bottoms abroad? its either you are not a business man and you are just making up stories online or you were just lucky in business. either way the same mindeset that caused to to leave Nigeria is what you will carry abroad. There are many people who struggle for opportunities in Nigeria, they neither have access to jobs or capital. You claim to have N10M, been a business man, have landed properties and with your business sense, your best option is to go abroad to clean toilets and old people's poop? abeg, be going...we need your forex Nigeria is a problem for many but Nigeria is not your problem! I don’t know you from Adam so I can be blunt and tell you what your friends and family may not want to tell you because they don’t want to appear to be discouraging you. |
Kukutente23:thats not how financing works. Getting a lender is never a problem . |

neyoworld247:You have 10m Naira and you cannot find a business to do in Nigeria? Nigeria is not your problem. Your problem is entitlement and mental laziness. That entitlement and mental laziness that is disturbing you will follow you to wherever you go. |
HgAkpobomeEr:The woman did a fantastic job. I know because some years ago I had to help my father with his pension. I was amazed!!! The professionalism and courtesy to pensioners (at least at the Lagos office) was like no other govt agency I had been to. I hope the new guy is as good. One of the few agencies in Nigeria that worked and understood why they were there. These are the kind of people that deserve national honours. I hope she got one for her services. Well done! |
Favourdays1:Sebi we are the ones fighting him? Now we see he has ready market outside we are talking about charity’s house? |
alpharoyalty:The solution is to make sure any borrowing is policed and consequences for diversion. The one thing for sure, we are going nowhere with our $20-30b a year budget. Where it takes 10yrs to build a 100km road because there is no money. |
