there are some figures you see and you digest with common sense. Most likely reason for these high % figures is that most of the projects are channeled through the governor's office. No matter the corruption and greed |
AntiZikist:she is actually quite pretty. Not my type but unlike the majority of fairskinned women she actually has beauty |
I think commenting about her beauty is fair game. It's not something i would do but she was the one who contested Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Miss Africa, and Miss Intercontinental. she made comments about her beauty fair game. |
RandDigital:Maybe? |
WizardOfNG:You are missing the point. The difficulties of free movement within west Africa have more to do with bad roads and checkpoints. The reason I haven’t taken a road trip to Ghana for example is because it is such a tiresome experience not because of my driving license or my number plate. The EU may have a uniform drivers license but their number plates from country to country could not be any more unstandardized. Their roads are good and there are no checkpoints that’s why there is free movement of food and services as well as tourism by road. |
Is it number plate and driving license that hinders free movement or checkpoints and bad roads? |
OredoPikin:It is because IGR is a measure of the ability to spend on infrastructure and social programmes. It is also a measure of the quality of the residents. Low IGR = Poor quality residents, Poor quality residents = low disposable income. Low disposable income = unattractive investment destination for investment (low income residents cannot afford good hotels, schools, entertainment, quality housing etc) You don’t invest (or locate) a Sheraton or shoprite in a place where the people cannot afford the prices or locate a factory in a place where the staff will not get good schools and hospitals for their staff or the govt cannot afford to pay for security. It’s no coincidence that the places with the highest incidences of kidnapping and insecurity have low IGR and the places with the highest IGR are the safest Therefore low IGR = Unattractive destination for investment = low quality residents= low tax base= low level of development. |
There is not much IGR in dancing! |
kristien4:The BMS is the gatekeeper and protector of the battery. The difference between one that is communicating with the charge controller/inverter and one that isn’t is that a communicating BMS sends its charge parameters to the CC/inverter and says this is how I want you to charge me and the CC/inverter responds. When there is no communication the BMS becomes a standalone gatekeeper, if the charge parameters you configure on the CC/inverter and the incoming charge are within its parameters it allows charging. Once the limits of the parameters in the BMS are violated it shuts down charging or the whole battery altogether. Your BMS is never idle. Idle means it’s not doing its job in which case you are in trouble if that were allowed to happen. A BMS should shut down and give a fault error if for any reason it cannot perform its functions. It’s like going to a party, the bouncer at the hall has a list of invited guests and their seating arrangements. If your name is on the list you are allowed in and ushered to your seat. If the uninvited whose names are not on the list attempt to enter, the hall bouncer shuts down the entrance to the hall until the uninvited are evicted. Comms between inverter/CC and BMS is like the bouncer at the hall (BMS) sending a list of updated invited guests to another bouncer at the gate of the compound (inverter or CC) in real time. such that everyone entering the compound has been screened before they even get to the hall and as soon as a guest is added to the list in the hall it is reflected in the list at the gate instantly without having to walk over to the gate to amend the list.. But if for any reason comms or no comms an uninvited guest gets to the hall, the hall bouncer (BMS) closes the door to anyone uninvited and can shut down the hall until order is restored. |
ojesymsym:Charge voltage and battery voltage are different. The charge voltage needs to be higher than the battery voltage or else there is no potential difference and hence no charging will take place or charging will stop. If both are properly configured and their is communication between BMS and inverter, the BMS will request the charge voltage and send a signal to the charge controller or inverter to stop charging when it reaches the voltage cutoff set in the BMS. If there is no comms the BMS should cutoff once it’s reaches its cut off voltage. Actually you should be able to set the charge voltage on the inverter if there is no comms between BMS and Inverter and you are using a “user defined” charge setting. |
mctfopt:I find it very annoying when someone continuously quotes me with unintelligent comments that add no value to myself or the forum. Nobody has said he can’t charge to 3.65v. That’s not the issue and never has been. The issue from the get go is whether it is prudent to. But he goes on and on and on. This is the same guy who claimed weak cells or mismatched cells are charged or balanced at a lower voltage. Clearly his understanding is defective. But he won’t let go! |
Dam5reey1:Like I said you are either daft or lack proper English comprehension. Perhaps you should read the thread again. Maybe if you read slowly you will understand what is being said. Either way I hope you are not a professional installer. |
ask4bk:Abeg leave the guy and let him continue arguing with himself. Nothing worse than the man with half knowledge who thinks he knows it all and refuses to be corrected. Nobody starts with expert knowledge it is in admitting errors and past bad practices that we improve but a man who continues to defend his old and flawed ways never improves. |
Dam5reey1:You either have poor English comprehension or you are fundamentally not very intelligent and unable to grasp and compartmentalise issues. |
dapsyra:We are not that divergent then. As for the last point let’s not pretend that 90% of solar installations in Nigeria are done by people who know what they are doing. In Nigeria you don’t want to encourage flying close to the sun. How many time do we see installers proudly posting pictures of installations where the inverter is sitting on top of a lead acid battery indoors? Are those the kind of installations or installlers you want to trust with cheap Chinese inverters or charge controllers charging to 3.65v? But like you said strictly from an academic point, calendar ageing will probably degrade the battery long before the damage of going to 3.65v |
Dam5reey1:My opening post asked do you want to learn or not? The. I continued for the sake of others. If you wanted to learn and had done the research like you claim you did or at least quality research I wouldn’t have to post what I posted. I am not here on an ego trip. You are wrong but do not want to admit you are wrong. I hope you aren’t an installer. Nobody is arguing with you that you can charge to 3.65v, it just not advisable especially with the kind of quackery in Nigeria. You never did answer what happens if you are charging to 3.65v every day but your inverter or charge controller is actually seeing a lower voltage at the battery? You have not left any margin for error because according to you you have read the manufacturers report? For the sake of an extra 0.5%? |
Dam5reey1:Do you want to learn or not? The chart I posted above is for a B grade cell. B grade cells have no problem going to 3.65v. A bad cell will go to 3.65 v but it’s capacity will be diminished. If anything it is when you have a poor grade cell or mismatched cells you need a higher voltage to give all the poorest cell/s a change to get to its full capacity. For example if you have a 280k with 300ah capacity and a bad 280k cell with 265ah actual capacity, and you balance at 3.45, you are not going to get the 265ah out of the bad cell at 3.45v which means you won’t get the 265ah out of the entire battery. So I hope you see why it is the mismatched battery / poor grade cells that needs a higher voltage to balance. However like I said whether grade A or grade Z there is not much capacity above 3.5-3.55v so no point going there. The illustration was just to let you know that mismatched/ poor grade cells in a battery need a higher balance voltage. Ability to attain 3:65v is not how you determine a poor grade cell. You determine quality by voltage under load and capacity. A poor grade cell will drop voltage on heavy load. Like I said above, a poor quality cell will go to 3.65v no problem but it will likely have less capacity that it’s nameplate. All the more reason you need to balance at as high a voltage as you can to get the most out of the weakest cell. So this idea that you balance at low voltage because a battery is made up of bad cells is wrong. You balance at low voltage because their isn’t much capacity at 3.65 to stress the battery for. |
Dam5reey1:This argument is a flawed one. Balancing cells is determined by the charge curve. You balance once the cells are out of the flat area because that is when the voltage disparity is apparent. This applies to good quality and mismatched or poor quality cells. At 3.55v all cells whether good or poor quality are for all intents and purpose at 100% capacity or as close to 100% as they will be. The only difference between poor quality or mismatched cells is that they go out of balance more than matched or good quality cells. Balancing voltage has nothing to do with quality of cells. Neither needs to go to 3.65v. In practical application you go to 3.65v or 2.5v only when you are testing for capacity. If anything it’s the poor quality or mismatched cells you want to balance at a higher voltage. |
dapsyra:This is academic. The point is what do you gain by charging to 3.65? That a car is certified to 6000rpm does not mean drive it all the time at 6000rpm. Let us also understand something about manufacturers, when they test, they test in the lab, none of these cells have actually under gone the lifespan projected in real life because the technology is not that old. Secondly, whether you go to 3.65 or 3.4, lifepo4 will eventually lose capacity due to calendar aging than whether you take it to 3.65 or not. Thirdly a manufacturer knows that the majority of its consumers will never use the product at it extremes whether lithium cells, cars or handsets, so they know and have factored in the few warranty claims in their pricing and claims. It does not a license to live at the extreme. Or you may just be that 0.03% whose cells fail because they run it to 3.65 all the time. Except as a Nigerian you probably have no one to run to for warranty. The point is why take it to 3.65 for an extra 0.5%? There is a reason why if you want to make a Pylontech warranty claim they need to see your charging history. Pylontech charges to 3.55v and cuts off at 3.04v. They know why they recommend doing that. They could just as easily said charge to 3.65v and cut off at 2.5v….but they didn’t……..toh! Plus you are also making an assumption (which isn’t always correct) that your charge controller or inverter is reading your battery voltage correctly. |
Dam5reey1:The reason people do not charge to 3.65 or discharge down to 2.5 is because of the charge profile of lithium ion phosphate batteries. 95-98% of the capacity is somewhere between 3v and 3.4-3.5v approximately. There is not much to be gained charging to 3.65 or discharging to 2.5 weighed against the stress to the cells caused by constantly charging and discharging to these extremes. The more you charge to 3.65v, the more your cells expand. It’s not that it can’t , it just not really prudent to make a habit of it. The blue line below is voltage with capacity from left to right. Observe the remaining capacity on the chart when the voltage is 3.v and 3.5v. Even if you are using high quality cells it’s not good practice. Even manufacturers like Pylontech despite 1C charge/discharge, reserve 5% capacity for this reason. Many only go to 3.55 for balancing and float at 3.45v, cut off at 3v to leave a little for emergencies. Even at that you have approx 98% capacity.

seunjungle1:Which Amosun, the one that chased Dangote’s refinery away from Ogun state or the one that did not respect contracts causing presidential jets to be seized? |
You see that ministry of tourism? Has no purpose while we have no infrastructure or security. That’s why we never heard of her for her entire tenure except that she was sick at one time. Post from April 29th casualobserver: |
Says the longest serving ruler of Nigeria! Of the 64 years of independence Obasanjo has been head of state for 11. 17% of what Nigeria has become is Obasanjo’s fault. |
Says the longest serving ruler of Nigeria! |
Love800:same thing....at the end of the day money is just a piece of paper, its value is in what it can purchase. |
why do people post things like this, was minimum wage N70K a month in 1985? A professor or a perm sec did not earn N14k in a whole year in 1985 so what exactly is the point of posting petrol from 1985? |
omodoagba:he cant because even if true, he cant prove and because he cant prove, he will be exposing himself to a libel and damages suit. |
Says the man who (metaphorically) was asked to stay rent free in a house he had no hope in hell of ever living in or owning in his life, enjoy all the facilities while the owner was away and responded by trying to change the cofo into his name. We are talking about a man under whose watch multiple illegal acts and violations of the law took place but never had the “integrity” to resign! Abi he forgot the law he “professes” when his government was printing trillions in ways and means without parliamentary approval for a start? These types of behavior have become par for the course in our polity unfortunately but don’t start preaching about integrity. |
IfnobeGod20:First of all I am not the one contesting for president. Secondly you just show the calibre of thinking required to support Obi. He can’t do a political meeting via zoom? Even FEC and NEC meetings are done via zoom. Thirdly good night! |
AMI3:I am not surprised |
SmartPolician:The obsession with foreign languages is one reason we are backward. |
Why does a man who claims to be smart and to have the solutions to the allocation and d prioritization of our national resources travel 3hrs for a meeting of 30minutes in this day and age of technology and ends up spending 7hrs? That is a man who does not know how to allocate and prioritize resources including time. Is it that he does not know how traveling on our roads are like and this is a possibility? People won’t ask these essential questions instead they will believe the noise from a man who has nothing to show for his 8 years in charge of a state. |

, you never can tell. Anyway, thanks for the complement. Being able to have an academic perspective is a plus. Please be mindful that the whole Lithium battery innovation remained as academic papers for many years before finally making it into commercial production.
