Minjim:Stop commenting on matters you are ignorant of. That you have data does not mean you must talk. |
richmond500:Dangote refinery does not need Nigeria to survive. He can import all his crude and export all his products. Singapore does not produce ANY crude and it is one of the largest petroleum refiners in the world. India has the largest refinery in the world, it produces relatively little crude. The deal was done to help Nigeria solve its problems not to help Dangote. Dangote does not need Nigeria. |
Aile:People using diesel are paying market price. Are you ready to pay the market price for petrol? |
Ashawoman82:I genuinely am not joking here. Seriously and I mean this with all sincerity…. your English comprehension and understanding is very poor. Ordinarily I will insult people like you for wasting my time. It is so bad that I feel bad abusing you because I know it is not your fault. I am seriously not joking. If you want a career in a profession that involves the use of English work on yourself or you will have problems. I am being serious!! Good night! |
Ashawoman82:The reason many of you are unemployed is lack of basic English comprehension. You are too much hard work for employers making basic errors a primary school student should not make and that is why many Nigerian companies would rather outsource even mundane administrative tasks to foreigners, employ foreigners and avoid Nigerian graduates. Look at how much effort it takes to drum home something I clearly articulated in my original post and still you don’t get it. Read it as many times as you need to get it but leave me in peace. Good Night!!! |
Ashawoman82:The problem with the ignorant is they don’t realize their ignorance. Like I said you cannot be better that the system that produced you. It is people like you that will see minimum qualification required is school certificate and will start forging degree certificate nobody asked you for. Or see a man who submitted his degree and will start arguing over his school certificate. English comprehension is why many of you lose court cases. I never said there is no subsidy in the price of fuel. What I said is that it isn’t coming from the Federal government therefore it is likely that it is NNPC paying it. Hence the “if” because I don’t have access to their accounts I cannot say for certain. I however have access to the federal budget and can say for certain that it is not the federal govt paying the subsidy. I also no there is no law allowing the federal govt to pay subsidies. Ignorance is not understanding the federal govt is different from NNPC. NNPC is actually not owned by the federal govt. it is owned by ALL tiers of government. I have a company, the company owns a car, the car does not belong to me. What belongs to me are the shares of the company. The company is a different entity from me. If the company makes a payment to someone it is not me who made the payment, it is the company who made the payment. If a driver in the company hit someone, it is not me who hit someone, it is the company that is liable. Are you that duuuumb? |
Ashawoman82:You are clearly uneducated if you don’t understand the concept of seperate legal entity. Do I have to take you back to school again and re-educate you? Jesus wept! What a dulllard!!! |
Ashawoman82:Don’t be stooopod! Federal government and NNPC are different entities. It is the same eeediot like you that wrote that article. This is the problem we have in Nigeria….the whole system is fulll of poorly educated eeediots especially in the media who reinforce the idiocy. NNPC paying subsidy is not FGN paying subsidy. The effect is the same but again this is how you fail exams. Read my original post again. I am not responding to you again! Good night! |
Ashawoman82:Like I said by the time a poor Lu educated child is 15 they can’t be saved. They are retard3d in their cognitive and reasoning abilities for life! That there is subsidy in the fuel price is not the same as it is the federal govt paying the subsidy. Your inability to differentiate the two or comprehend is the cause of your dilema and is a result of poor education and being fed on indomie. In a way it isn’t your fault, you are likely a post Abacha child and you can only be as god as the system that produced you. |
Ashawoman82:Stick to BB Naija and Nollywood, hair extensions and other stuff if your iQ level. where my education started you cannot reach in your lifetime. Good night! And stop disturbing me. Unfortunately for people like you who went to school when only the dregs of society went into teaching you cannot be saved. By the time a child is 15 there is nothing you can do. |
Ashawoman82:Like I said you are poorly educated. The government HAS removed subsidy. Why? Because for the government to pay subsidy there must be an act of parliament enabling them to pay subsidies. There is no budget appropriation for subsidy. We know the pump price of petrol is below the landing price and NNPC is the only supplier of PMS. Hence the logical conclusion is that it is NNPC taking the hit. Hence the “if” in relation to NNPC. Jesus wept you people are really poorly educated! Trust me you will not survive in a proper environment. Be grateful you operate with your equally poorly educated in Nigeria. This is about your English comprehension abilities and critical thinking and reasoning abilities. I am sure you fail a lot of job interviews and exams. |
Ashawoman82:Like I said I am not responsible for your poor education and inability to comprehend English. Perhaps your problem also goes beyond poor English comprehension? casualobserver:May statement couldn’t be anymore clear to anyone with good quality primary education. |
DevilsEqual:Dangote can import his own crude and export all of his products and he will be fine. Dangote refinery is not a state owned enterprise. It has no duty to provide petrol at a price that is not beneficial to it. |
Geometrix:I don’t like being constantly disturbed by people who add no value to this topic and do not want to learn. I have said all I need to say, Leave me in peace. If you see petrol at a price you like buy, if you don’t like the price you see don’t buy. Nobody is forcing you. |
Ashawoman82:It is one thing to read in English, it is another to comprehend what you read. I know you went to school when only dregs went into teaching but read the post again. When someone says it isn’t raining, he didn’t say the ground is dry…that conclusion is down to your intelligence or lack thereof. Poor reasoning and comprehension is why many of you fail exams and job interviews. |
Geometrix:That is the global average margin for refineries all over the world. If you sought knowledge instead of making typical emotional comments you would have come across this piece of enlightenment. |
Geometrix:1: Why would Dangote refinery sell at cost price? Did you donate money to build his refinery? 2: his margin is 2%, he has interest payments on loans why should he sell at cost? 3: even at cost price, the price of petrol is not N600. The price of diesel is an indication of the market price of petrol. +/- 5%. If Dangote diesel ex refinery is N900 then petrol is between N850-950 ex refinery. Add logistics/transport costs + retailer margin and you have the real price of petrol. If you don’t like, it you can find your own petrol. Dangote can source his crude abroad and sell his products abroad. The solution to the problem of fuel price lies in the exchange rate. Nigerians should stop buying imported products so the dollar rate can go down. Only then will the price of petrol go down. |
Geometrix:1: The price of petrol is set universally, everybody buys petrol at the same price. 2: What determines the price of petrol in a country is a) added taxes e.g uk b) subsidy e.g Libya and Nigeria c ) actual market price e.g Ghana, Benin, Cameroun. D) your exchange rate 3: The profit margin on refineries globally is less than 2%, they make money on volume. Dangote is not a charity. |
DevilsEqual:Everybody is blaming Kyari but you are asking Kyari to sell petrol at less than landing costs. The problem to me is not Kyari, the problem is the landing cost of petrol either imported or via Dangote is more than the price acceptable to the public. The government has removed subsidy. So who is paying the difference? If NNPC is paying the difference then they will go broke as is now the case. The problem is not Kyari but political interference in NNPC. |
You the new interim chairman embezzled govt money was asked to refund The other factional chairman accused of embezzling campaign funds Your campaign Dg had corruption cases Your Vp candidate was sacked as a senator after caught rigging his elections Your your campaign coordinator accused of diverting funds Your staunch backer accused of dodgy deals in Ogun state. Your key supporters accused of receiving campaign monies into their account to Your spokesman abandoned you Your influencers accused of diverting campaign funds Your presidential candidate diverted state funds into your family business. You and your presidential candidate are in LP because they scatered PDP with disunity and you want to bring that PDP disunity DNA to leave a legacy of unity? PDP Ade campers have not been in LP for 2 yrs already every headline is disunity, embezzling of funds and court cases. The only legacy I see is legacy of chopping funds…that’s the only thing that binds you all together. Someone offered you a roof when you were rejected by your real family PDP, now you want to claim their house as your own. Why don’t you go and build your own house? |
Majority on Nairaland are taught by these sorts of teachers and you can tell the way they post. If you started school after Abacha died just know there is a high probability you are one of them. From primary to university it has been people unqualified for good jobs that have been teaching you. |
Abiola was one of the wealthiest men in Africa when he was alive. By the late 1980s, he was recognized as the richest man in Nigeria - a notion he constantly denied, but he agreed that he was the biggest philanthropist in Africa. His wealth wasn't only accrued from his involvement in the Nigerian oil sector as a magnate but from a varied number of investments and businesses that included aviation, farming, printing, publishing, communication and well as banking. While he was alive, he had in his business empire Abiola Farms, Abiola Bookshops, Radio Communications Nigeria, Wonder Bakeries, Concord Press, Banuso Fisheries, Concord Airlines, Summit Oil International Ltd, Africa Ocean Lines, Habib Bank, Decca W.A. Ltd, and Abiola Football Club. In the 1980s, Abiola’s firms and companies employed over 5,000 people in Nigeria and all over the West African subregion. Unconfirmed reports estimated Abiola’s net worth to be over $1 billion before death. This was arrived at by valuing his major and flourishing businesses which were said to be at over $1 billion in assets. Abiola was a jolly good fellow and he lived to the fullest. Long before a report that he was one of the richest Africans, Abiola had been flying private jets with several luxurious properties scattered across Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
We overhype people. Abiola could never have been worth $1b. 1) most of his businesses failed, 2) he was a govt contractor, that was his main source of income, he channeled his money into other businesses almost all of which failed. 3) he was jailed in 1992, at that time the GDP of Nigeria was $52b. He was Vice President for Africa for ITT and that was the springboard for his wealth. Even the ITT global group itself of which ITT Nigeria would have been a minor part of their global operations was only worth $2b in 1992. Thouh he left ITTin 1988, his oga at the top in America was only paid $11m a year in 1990 so how much could he have possibly made from ITT in terms of salary and stocks? Note from the article that as at the time MKO left in 1988, his oga earned less than $5.5m a year. Abiola was a multi millionaire no doubt but he was never a billionaire. Not even close! Most of those businesses you mention were unprofitable and were simply established with his gains from his govt contracts. What was the source of his major contracts? Telecoms….how much did we spend on telecoms in the history of Net/Nitel from 1970-1992? The entire annual budget of the whole country in that period averaged around $5-6 billion! The entire ITT contract that made Abiola his money was $150m later increased to $250m and it lasted decades so it was 1 contract. Of that, even if it was inflated by 100% after sharing with his Army and NPN buddies, what share was left for him considering he owned 40% of ITT Nigeria? Dont forget also a lot of that money he used to finance the election of Shagari just like PDP used Dasuki to finance elections. Abiola has not shown in any of his buinesses the ability to grow a business devoid of govt contracts, so i doubt even if he made $100m from the deal he was able to grow it to $1b. I don’t think people understand what it meant to be a billionaire in the 80s which was Abiola’s peak. There were only a few in the whole world! In 1980 there were only 13. In 1990 only 66. His jet 5N-AMY and pictured below, for instance was a small jet and it was 13 yrs old when he bought it and probably did not cost him more than $1m and I am being generous. Do you see a billionaire today buying a used small jet? Note a billion today is nothing compared to a billion in Abiola’s time. Today people who have small money you call them billionaires when they aren't, ask anyone who was alive in those days nobody, even with hype, mentioned Abiola and billionaire in the same sentence. Billionaires in those days were the likes of Aristotle Onasis, Sultan of brunei, Kinf Fahd of Saudi and Howard Hughes.....Abiola was not in their league. He was wealthy, he was flamboyant, but billionaire no! He was a contractor, a deal maker not a business man in the true sense of the word, hence despite using proceeds from his role as a govt contractor to establis many businesses, you cannot point to a single Abiola business that endured. His only path to probable billionaire status was his oil block but he didn’t live to see it produce as it was blocked for close to 2 decades due to politics. Abiola was a flamboyant and very generous man he spent as generously and flamboyantly as he earned giving the impression he was richer than he really was.

DevilsEqual:My take is that the problem of Nigeria are Nigerians. Dangote reduced price of diesel they said he is ruining their business. Nigerians dont want Nigeria to work. |
You can’t manage a small party you want to run a country like Nigeria? Your new interim chairman embezzled govt money was asked to refund The other factional chairman accused of embezzling campaign funds Your campaign Dg had corruption cases Your Vp candidate was sacked as a senator after caught rigging his elections Your your campaign coordinator accused of diverting funds Your staunch backer accused of dodgy deals in Ogun state. Your key supporters accused of receiving campaign monies into their account to Your spokesman abandoned you Your influencers accused of diverting campaign funds You gan gan diverted state funds into your family business. You are all dirty from top to bottom yet you are pointing fingers up and down. |
IGBOPROMISE1:I laugh in Swahili at the delusion. The people are the problem of Nigeria. I keep saying it these politicians and leaders are not aliens. Are we not seeing what is unfolding in the Labour Party? Are the corrupt civil servants, customs, officials, police men, etc etc foreigners? The citizen given rice at 40k who sells to others at 80k is he a foreigner? The person who builds a house on a canal knowing the canal will flood his neighbors house, is he a foreigner? |
Triangles1:I say it all the time, the only smart Obidients are ibo Obidients. Their mission isn’t good governance because they know Peter Obi and how they cursed him as a governor. Their mission is an ibo president. the other smart people are people like Aisha and Abure who are riding the wave and cashing out. Everybody else is a victim of falsehood. The victims are the naive youth who have been led astray but the truly gullible and brain dead are those adults who should know better but actually think Nigeria can be different under a Peter Obi. 1) you cannot run Nigeria on your own so your team matters. Who are the team around Obi, are they not the ones caught up in campaign finance scandals? Imagine what will happen if they get into power and manage real money? Look at his team, they are all hungry people. 2) a) you need legislators to pass your initiatives, how many do they have? b) what is the performance of the few LP members that have been elected, did any of them reject the largese that Obi criticizes every day? Have any of them been good ambassadors of what Obi claims he represents? 3). Has Obi been able to articulate his plans beyond criticism and rhetoric? When Awolowo was opposition leader he would criticize and offer his solution. 4) I will repeat you cannot run a country unless you control the legislative because they are the ones who approve your programs and budget. 5) is it not the same is Nigerians that will populate his ministries, agencies and can he sack the most corrupt of Nigerian institutions the civil service? The answer is no! 6) is Obi himself not part of the corrupt system, was he not a PDP member, did he not divert state funds to his family business, was state funds not found in his aides car acting on his instructions? Was he not the one who instructed MD of fidelity bank to collect Dasuki money? Who are we kidding, are we not Nigerians? So anyone who thinks Obi is going to change the country is clearly not thinking properly. The ibos support him because they want an ibo president fair play to them. Others who think things will be different under him both in terms of programs, corruption and development are devoid of critical thinking skills. Even Buhari got there and eventually realized that fighting corruption as a military man is different from fighting corruption as a civilian president. Look at the composition of the LP hierarchy, these are hungry people, you want to let them loose on the state treasury, people who have no experience or exposure of operating at that level? Whatever looting you saw under PDP or APC will be small and what is happening regarding campaign funding is a pointer of what to expect. |
God2man2again:Nothing to do with polygamy. it is a reflection of the family and the family is a reflection of the man. If your wealth was acquired via questionable means, it is not a surprise that your family exhibit certain questionable tendencies whether polygamous or monogamous. It is the values and example set by you that will flow down to your offspring. Like someone said, even children of monogamous families squabble over inheritance. |
Flamemignon1:I knew it! you are a deranged gay! Jesus wept! get the F out of my mentions! Disgusting lowlife piece of Sheet! Adodi jati jati! |
Flamemignon1:You would know. Look my friend I don’t care what they do in their country they should not try to force their nonsense on us that is my point in case you are too daft to read and understand. |
Elxandre:The way you post highlights a few things 1) you illustrate why they say siblings should not have sex so as not to give birth to r3tards 2) there are too many irresponsible parents endangering the world with dull offspring 3) our education system is broken and being able to read and write is not evidence of intelligence 4) democracy sadly gives eeediots the power to vote and hence determine the future of the intelligent. 5) eeediots should not be allowed on social media |
Elxandre:I have low tolerance for imbec1les with low IQ engaging me. Do you not feel stooopid that you are making assertions and when asked you cannot back it up? Is that the way of an educated intelligent person? Eeediot! |
descarado:God bless you!!! may your days be long and your endeavours be prosperous! |
