DoctorAyukebot:clearly you are gay! |
IfnobeGod20:It really is tedious responding to eeediots on this platform. One would have thought you would have taken the hint that I have no intention of responding to you based on our previous interactions where you proved beyond any doubt that you lack critical thinking skills. To start with, are we not a shothole country? Isn’t that what you spend everyday complaining about here? So you are no longer a shithole country because a presidential aspirant says so? Are you not the same people always carrying your matters to the international stage lampooning and demarketing your country? Secondly what am I doing migrating to another country if my country is ok? Why should America allow immigrants? Do we not have constant issues with immigrants even in Nigeria? I am totally in support of restricting immigration from shithole countries because we mess up our countries and then seek to benefit from countries who get their act in order. If they ban us from immigrating we would be forced to take issues in our country seriously. Finally politicians say things. Tinubu has made inflammatory comments, Atiku has made inflammatory comments, Buhari has made Inflammatory comments, Obi makes them every day. They say so because they have to appeal to eeediotic brainless low IQ electorate like you to get elected. Intelligent people judge politicians not on what they say but what they do and their track record. Is it not the same Buhari that called the SE a dot that built a critical bridge none of their sons could build despite romancing the center and having a seat at the table for 50yrs? Is it not the same Buhari that they say hates Yorubas that finished the Lagos Ibadan express way, Lagos-Ibadan rail Apapa express way etc that we could not. Construct despite having a yoruba man as president for 8yrs? You are clearly too stoooooopid to understand. America does not owe you anything. A smart Nigerian thinks in terms of how America’s policies and which American president is favour able or at least not destructive to the societal norms and economic prosperity of Nigeria. Beyond that the Internal machinations of America is not your problem or your business. For the record for all the so called anti black rhetoric. Blacks never had it so good economically under Trump….never!!! Eeediots like you are too stupid to realize. That is why black Americans are turning against the democrats and backing Trump. If they are backing Trump what is your own? Are they not the ones who should be most afraid of Trump according to your low IQ view? Their eyes have opened that the democrats just use and dump them. |
Elxandre:You are talking jibberish like the obvious eeediot you are your ilk are. I asked for the simple figures response even if hypothetical as to where the funding for subsidy will come from. Instead you are talking nonsense giving opinions. Everybody has an opinion, the market woman the bus driver, the agbero have opinions. What separates an educated person is the ability to back his opinions with data, facts and figures. You don’t have no are no different, you are an eeediot and a waste of my time! Somebody is funding a road because he will make his money back from the tolls. In your so called educated mind you cite that as an example. How will a private party fund subsidy and make his money back? When we call you ignorant uneducated unenlightened and eeediots you think we are insulting you whereas we are just describing you as you are! |
The Ajayi fellow clearly has no brain cells. |
Elxandre:Answer the question. Show your intelligence and tell us where the money for subsidy is to come from. No need for story. All I need are the figures and I will swallow humble pie. Just like arsehol3s, everybody has an opinion, they are subjective. Figures don’t lie. Drop your figures or stop disturbing my peace with your emotional ignorant and unenligtened drivel! I just saw your comment about the highway. You are the same sort of m0ron that supported subsidy instead of building refineries and power stations. Now you think it is better to pay for subsidies so we can ply bad roads instead of building good roads. In a few years the same eeediots like you will come and say see the roads in China And by the way, the government is only paying N1 trillion out of the N14 trillion for the road. The rest will be financed by the contractor and recovered through tolling. Shows how uninformed you are and why I shouldn’t waste my time with ignoramuses. |
Manny21:Is it corrupt leaders robbing or forming armed gangs or ashawo in dubai? They love corrupt leaders because they buy their houses. We saw one recently flaunting his car and house on social media…did they ban him? |
Flangelo12:That is why democrats love you dumbasses. The black man in Africa is no different from the black man in America. You are incapable of critical thinking, you are generally stooopid. In Africa ou will vote a man because he is from your tribe even though he does nothing for you, just like the black man will vote for a black president that did nothing for them. The relationship between the democrats in America and blacks is no different to the relationship between politicians in Africa and the masses. Keep them poor and dependent so they can appeal to their primitive instincts and make them depended t on us for cheap social welfare programs and handouts but don’t empower them lest they start to think for themselves. |
ewedunamala:Oga I didn’t say it is not good, all the countries you mentioned can pay for their subsidies. I will even add to your list by saying Europe subsidizes their farmers so they can sell at below cost price. The question I have asked people at least 40 times on this platform is where are you going to get the money for subsidies, with data, facts and figures.. You are no 41, none of you has answered. When people talk about gradual removal of subsidy, it shows their abject ignorance of the state of affairs as at May 29th 2023. We were that close to falling off the cliff. Do you people not hear that 97% of our income was used to service debts, we were printing money to keep government going through ways and means and we were borrowing to pay salaries and subsidies? |
Flangelo12:Because Trump is in favour of fossil fuels and we are a fossil fuel producing economy Because Trump will not try and force down gay rights on others as conditions for other things. Because Trump is not in the business of toppling regimes, creating instability in countries and starting wars. Below are none of my primary concern as a Nigerian but Black unemployment in the US was lowest ever under Trump Black empowered more black colleges(universities) than any American president Because Trump was better for the black man that any democrat ever was except blacks are generally too stooopid to realize and they vote based on being patronized by the democrats who offer them food stamps social handouts and other things that keep them down. |
God1000:Nigerians are funny people. I don’t understand how we think. How can you support a regime or a US president that is detrimental to our interests? The democrats have shown since the Time of Obama that they have no interests in Nigeria and their policies are bad for our interests. The last American president who did anything to benefit Nigeria economically was Heorge W Bush with his AGOA act which allowed African exports acces to the US duty free. What did the democrats do? They cancelled it, stopped buying our oil and tell us to be gay and trans! |
Elxandre:I appreciate sensible comments, I don’t appreciate emotional or ignorant ones. I am going to ask you the same question I ask people like you. BTW I have yet to receive an answer. Where is the money for subsidy to come from? Go through our budget and tell me what items you want to cut so we can maintain subsidy. Don’t forget NNPC is owing our suppliers $6.8b for subsidies and they have not remitted a single dime to the federation account for months. We are surviving largely on vat, customs and company taxes You can have a look at the budget via the link below and tell us what you want to cut to pay for subsidies. https://budgetoffice.gov.ng/index.php/resources/internal-resources/budget-documents/2024-budget |
Elxandre:China has cheap electricity because they invested heavily in cheap hydro plants amongst others. When you were spending $6-$10b a year on subsidies to burn petrol in smoke, why didn’t you ask why we weren’t using that money to build cheap hydro power stations or refineries? Why didn’t you ask why were we subsidizing petrol for jeeps but diesel for industries have had subsidies removed for over 3 years? Now suddenly you remember industrialization? China is where it is because they made the right decisions, we are where we are because we didn’t…simple! We chose to waste billions via the exhaust pipes of consumers, they chose to subsidize production. While you were burning fuel subsidy through your exhaust pipes at the rate of $6-10b a year, China spent a mere $31b to build the largest hydro power station in the world capable of 20,000MW of free electricity (free as in no fuel costs) which 4 times our current capacity. Now you complain their electricity is cheap? |
Bestmanfornow:A governor has N100b a year road budget and wants to build a transformative road worth N1trillion so he builds sections of the road worth N100b every year. Ignorant people clap for him and say you’ve done well my boy, you build roads without borrowing! The problem here is that it will take forever for his state to be transformed because the beneficial effects of the road will not be truly felt till the road is completely finished. Plus the price of the road goes up every year with inflation, so the longer he take to complete the entire road the more it costs. This is the bane of most road/infrastructure projects in Nigeria. A wise governor on the other hand has 100b a year income or road budget, leverages that income to borrow N1Trillion and builds the entire road in a year or 2 because he knows: 1) if he waits 10 years to build the at the rate of N100b a year, the cost of the roads will not remain at N1T likely it will take N2-3Teillion in the end and will likely never get completed. 2) he knows he has N100b a year he can commit to debt payments and building N1Trillion road now will increase his IGR to N200b once the roads are completed. So a wise man borrows N1trillion, builds the roads that would ordinarily take 10 years to construct now, sees his IGR double to N200b after yr 1/2 as a result of the transformational effect of the N1Trillion road on the economy, sets aside N100b to service debt payments and now has extra N100b for other projects. But hey what do I know, according to wisdom of the common man, debt is bad and the wiseman is foolish! |
sulaak:Other companies are assembling Chinese cars in Nigeria and we see them on the roads. GAC assembles Chinese cars, they have a dealership in Lagos. They signed a deal with LASG for 1,000 cars for lag ride and just signed another deal for 5,000. Obi Cubana signed a deal with the same company for cars in Abuja. Why didn’t he sign his deal with INNOSON? Because nobody is going to sign a deal when you introduce new model every day and your cars do not have presence on the roads! I just went to INNOSON website, they have 18 different models on their website from cars to buses….jack of all trades, master of none! Go to GAC website, they have only 5, that’s why they sell more and have more presence. When Volkswagen and Peugeot were assembling cars in Nigeria they never had more than 5/6 models at any one time. |
Every day INNOSON will introduce a new model, instead of them to focus on 1 or 2 and gain market share and economies of scale. Dealership they don’t have, service center they don’t have, adverts they don’t do, every day introducing new model. I am sure they have more models than Mercedes that have been manufacturing since 1900. Focus on 1 or 2 and be the go to brand for that niche, focus on a car that will be the default for taxi drivers/Uber and sell 30,000 a year. Focus on being the default for intra city or inter city buses and sell tens of thousands a year…no…..every day new model that we never see on the road. How can they gain traction if there is no brand awareness because nobody sees your cars on the road? Everyday we see GAC on the roads in Lagos, because they signed a deal with Lagride, it gives consumers confidence seeing the cars on the roads, now we are seeing Provately owned GAC cars. But we never see INNOSON because you will introduce 1 model every week and most Nigerians will never see that model if they drive the 4 corners of the country. Who is going to buy a car he doesn’t see from dealers that don’t exist from a company that doesn’t advertise? |
ewedunamala:Subsidy is good if you can pay for it. If you can’t afford it then you are only harming your economy and your citizens. How can a country pay more in subsidy than education, health agriculture, defense, roads combined and think subsidy is good? What kind of reasoning makes a man to conclude it is ok to drive big engined cars with subsidized fuel spending valuable hours in traffic on bad roads to take your children to dilapidated schools to get substandard education that can’t get them a job or to drive to poorly equipped hospitals that can’t cure your sickness because all the money has been diverted to subsidize fuel? Is the value we get from this fuel subsidy worth bad education bad roads, poor health facilities, insecurity, etc etc? |
Armaggedon:Oga I am arguing from the point of view of our current fiscal reality not what should be. As you can see from the point of view of taxes, IGR, revenue and infrastructure development WHICH IS THE SUBJECT UNDER DISCUSSION GDP means nothing. Your revenue as a state is determined by the quality of your residents. If you have an argument or evidence to the contrary please share otherwise my job here is done. |

I said it before that Ibos know Peter Obi because they were cursing him when he was governor. Others outside the SE did not know him because his rise to prominence was rapid. By 2027, Peter Obi will show his true colors. |
BoldBrainz:Its not a question of think it is I know. Obi is not even in contention he shouldnt even be more than a council chairman. Atiku is a better option than Obi but like I said PDP boys are hungry and i question Atiku's startegic thinking capacity! A man who keeps bungling his own elections with bad choices. For example, he picked Obi at a time when Obi offered him nothing and dumped him at the time when he was the key to his victory. As far as I am concerned he doesn't think right. The difference between a Tinubu and Atiku is that tinubu would not have picked Obi as his VP in 2019 and he would not have let him defect in 2023 even if he didnt give him the slot. They say he makes decisions on the advice of marabouts, that probably explains whey he keeps shooting himself in the foot. Tinubu did exactly what he needed to do because there is probably no mind in Nigerian history strategically equal to the man. He has brought in the hardship at the very beginning of his administration so that by 2027 Nigerians would have adjusted and hopefully the gains would start to manifest. Atiku and Obi both claimed they would remove subsidy and floated the naira from day 1. They are now claiming they would have done it gradually, if they did they wouldnt get a second term because it would be too close to the elections, if they didnt the economy would be ruined.

Armaggedon:perhaps you should ask for a refund from your English teachers. The subject was about revenues and I said GDP is not that important (in the context of revenues) if you cannot extract revenues from the GDP. I will give 2 examples: You are a state with many small holder 1-2 acre farms, your GDP is high but you cannot extract much taxes from them because they are poor farmers. If anything you are the one subsidizing them with fertiliser seeds etc. Example 2: You are a state with high turnover companies that employ very few people. The company taxes from the huge turnover (GDP) go to the federal government all you get is income taxes but if they dont employ many people you dont get much. A good example of this is oil companies. A good example of this is Oil, you will be shocked to know that for every barrel of Oil a state producues that sells for $80, a state gets less than $3 as its 13% derivation share meanwhile Oil industry does not employ many people and the GDP of that state will read $80. 13% derivation is profit X 13%, crude oil profit = is price of crude - cost of production. Learn to read properly! |
Bizibi:IMHO they cant win as a team because 1) scenario :1 Obi/Atiku. legally. Atiku cannot be a vice to Obi and Nigeria will NEVER elect Obi as president with or without Atiku. 2) scenario :2 Atiku Obi: this will alienate some southerners and some Northern power brokers who do not want Atiku because they have ambitions to be president themselves in 2031. There are Northern governors who wont support Atiku for this reason. scenario 3 (seperately) is a replay of 2023and the most likely scenario and we all know how that turned out. |
kheny12:Tinubu will likely win in 2027 for the same reason he won in 2023……the opposition keeps fielding candidates that no matter Tinubu’s shortcomings are worse than him and hence unelectable. You people don’t seem to understand. If you want to defeat Tinubu, you need to forget Atiku forget Obi. So long as he is running against those 2 whether as a team or separately he will win. |
Bestmanfornow:Clearly one is dealing with another eeeediot here! |
Bestmanfornow:Show your stats. When you want to have a conversation with me, you back your assertions with facts, evidence and sources. I already debunked your claim that 2 Se states have a GDP higher than the SW excluding Lagos. Now you are here making wild claims again without evidence. If you are going to respond to me in future with wild claims and made up figures than consider yourself ignored and don’t bother responding. Anambra is at 2023 is 23/36 in education spending per capita and 34th out of 36 in health.
|
Bestmanfornow:To start with your figures are wrong. As at 2022 the total GDP of the SW excluding Lagos was N18.4trllion and The 2 states you are referring to (Anambra and IMO) had a Combined GDP of N12.82T. Nothing would have changed in the last 2 years. https://yourbudgit.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/2022-State-of-states_Official.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_GDP You don’t provide services and infrastructure with GDP. You build infrastructure with taxes aka IGR. It is how much of that GDp translates into govt revenue that matters. The main source of state IGR is individual related taxes. Income tax, property taxes, sales tax etc that are dependent on the purchasing power and income level of your residents. If the quality and earning power of your residents is low, your IGR will be low. A lawyer will charge you 5% on a transaction whether your property is worth N500m or N10m. A lawyer in a state where properties are more in the N300m-N1B category will make more money than a lawyer in a state where his clients average property value is N10-50m…..same thing with state IGR. If it didn’t dey it didn’t dey! There are numerous employees inLagos (not businessmen, not employers, just regular professionals who are employees) who pay taxes in a year more than all of those people in your video combined! Last word as it seems you want to degenerate this into the emotional. This started as a discussion between the perceived high indebtedness of Lagos V SE states with little or no debt. You are now trying to redefine this by bringing in the SW. This is not a tribal discussion this is a factual assessment of the realities of Nigeria. Resist your temptation to turn everything into a tribal war this missing the point. The SW states of Ondo Ekiti, Osun in particular are just as bad as the SE so rest! They are equally unattractive for quality professionals and businesses just like the SE and they suffers the same IGR conundrum. Your ability to build infrastructure is a reflection of your revenue. Your revenue is a reflection of the financial quality of your residents. The quality of your residents is a reflection of the quality of your infrastucture…..back to square one! A state will remain in that poverty trap unless it borrows to build infrastructure to attract high quality businesses and the high quality tax payers to break the cycle. In the interim the states that are building infrastructure are leaving them behind and stealing their best residents to finance their development. If a poor state is waiting for IGR to develop, it will remain poor because you cannot afford quality infrastructure and as you finish one poor quality road or school, another is dilapidating so it is forever unattractive to high quality businesses and residents. A state’s major source of revenue is income taxes and taxes related to individuals. If you look at the stats, as at 2022 the SE states were falling behind. Your 2 high GDP state featured in the bottom half or at the bottom of almost every metric. Only Ebonyi regularly featured in the top half. Yet Ebonyi is no4 out of 5 in terms of GDP in the SE! This is not about GDP, it is about revenue. It’s no coincidence, expenditure is a function of revenue. Revenue is a function of quality of residents. Quality residents is a function of infrastructure.
|
Bestmanfornow:Look at the quality of people you are showing me in the video? I am talking about professionals, architects engineers, doctors, accountants, lawyers, people who pay high taxes that can raise IGR you are showing me riff raff? How much taxes do the kind of people you are showing me in this video pay? Your professionals, architects engineers, doctors, accountants, lawyers are in Lagos Abuja, Rivers and increasingly Ogun that’s why their IGR is high and yours is low. Show me a prominent yoruba lawyer SAN, medical doctor, engineer, architect that is based in the SE. these are the people that pay taxes in the millions-billions that raise your IGR and employ other professionals that pay high taxes. Not riff raff that collect rice palliative. Such high earning professionals attract others but they require a certain level of infrastructure to move to an area. The SE doesn’t have it so they don’t exist there. Even the majority of your high profile professionals, architects engineers, doctors, accountants, lawyers don’t operate out of the SE! That is why your IGR is low! Just 1 successful professional will contribute more to a states IGR than 1000 of this people you are showing me. The difference between “high debt” Lagos and the SE is that there are thousands of these high value professionals in Lagos but very few if any in the SE. If anything your video just proves my point about the quality of people you attract. |
Bestmanfornow:I don hear! |
viccy12:I have friends. None of them who are non Ibo have any business in the SE. Which institutions or factories or amenities do you have that will attract a non Ibo professional to relocate to the SE? |
Bestmanfornow:Nobody of non SE origin relocates to the SE! There is nothing there! What is he looking for? A place the indigenes are fleeing? What is it the SE currently offers? Is it peace, is it infrastructure, is it good jobs, is it business. What? In the 60s to 80s yes. Not today and not for a while. |
immortalcrown:Nigerians are very ignorant about debt. Debt is an essential tool in development and in business. Many Nigerians seem to feel that low debts is a sign of good governance….it is not, neither is it a sign of bad government. I have heard people applaud some governors for not taking loans, the question is how much development can these governors undertake within their limited IGR? You celebrate that SE have low debts and Lagos has highest debt. Has it not occurred to you that people are fleeing the SE every day and the SE is one region nobody relocates to? The average Nigerian from other regions has no business in the SE, no relatives and has probably never visited the SE nor will he do so in his life because there is nothing to take him there. Whereas everybody has business or family in Lagos, it continues to attract residents and businesses. The price you pay for a mindset that debt is not good is that your infrastucture is poor. As a result your high income earners, your educated, your elite, your professionals, your businessmen relocate to where the infrastructure exists for them to conduct business and live a better life. Since Income tax is paid where you reside, it is states with infrastructure (usually those who borrowed to build the infrastructure) that benefit from the increased IGR which they use to pay the loans to build the infrastructure. It also affects your politics. Since all the enlightened and educated have relocated it is the dregs that become the political leaders and grassroot mobilizers. When an educated man from Abuja or Lagos wants to go into politics he is not in touch with the people so you end up throwing up charlatans as political leaders who have no clue when they get to office which is reflected in the quality of their governance. They build shoddy infrastructure which repels businesses that care are quality jobs and quality higher tax paying residents and the cycle of poverty continues So the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The rich can borrow more because they have richer residents. All because they poor think borrowing is a sin. As an analogy Dangote borrowed to build his refinery, watch how his wealth will balloon with the launch of his refinery but the man with a gas station who is waiting to save the money from the profits of his 1 gas station before he expands will die with 1 gas station if he is lucky the station doesn’t close down. I agree borrowing for foolish vanity projects like th airport is Ebonyi is wasteful and bad use of debt but I assure you the SE especially in the state it is now with all your high value indigenes having left the region will only get worse as the years go because your IGR cannot provide the infrastructure required to attract high quality tax residents. There is only so much IGR you can raise when you have decimated the quality of your residents. There is only so much IGR you can raise from farmers, okada riders etc. The only way most states can develop is to borrow to build infrastructure to attract high quality businesses and residents who will pay taxes to pay the loans. Lagos has highest debt true but who is paying for it? Those who fled the regions without infrastructure. Lagos just announced its 3rd rail line to be financed with borrowing….the loans will be paid from the IGR from the high income earners that have fled states that instead of borrowing to build infrastructure keep relying on taxes from okada riders etc to build roads. The IGR of the entire SE is less than Ogun state talk less Lagos, yet Ogun state is struggling to fix its bad roads. So I hope that tells you the task ahead of the SE. |
