With APC bringing down minimum
wage from💲100 in 2015 to💲20
in 2024, the suffering citizens can't
afford to buy anything outside the most
basic food items❗️❗️❗️
Wage is a function of output. Is the output of the worker $100 today? In US GDP per capita is $70k, minimum wage is $15k. In UK it os $40k GDP/ capita minimum wage $15K. In a country like Nigeria where GDP per capita is $2k what should a minimum wage earner collect, you want him to earn more than his output?

The other day I went to the shops to buy sniper they said N10,000…something I used to buy for N1,500 and 750 for the small one. There is nothing in the Naira fall or petrol increase that warrants such exploitation. Labour has not gone up x6, Naira has not fallen x6, petrol has not gone up x6, if anything diesel has fallen. I refused to buy o and I refuse to buy products at exploitative prices. Let them keep them in their warehouses when they are ready they will bring down prices if not they can keep their products.

There are certain price increases I can understand and are justified but there are many that are just exploitation.

Politics › Re: Minimum Wage: Why We May Not Accept N100,000 – Organised Labour by casualobserver:
NLC are comedians. I repeat the GDP per capita (the economic value of output ) of the average worker in Nigeria is N3m a year or N250k a month. This is the average worker not the lowest worker. Therefore the monthly economic output of a minimum wage worker is closer to N80k possibly even 40k. You cannot expect to be paid beyond your economic output.

I repeat we are a very inefficient economy with unproductive workers. If it takes 5 people to do the work that ordinarily 1 person should do, then the 5 will share the wages of 1 person. This is how economics works.

Why do you care about the British media? Has it just occurred to you they don’t like you? Is it today you are just discovering everything about the British is hypocrisy? You think they ended slave trade because they love blacks or found God? No they ended slave trade because they invented machines that could the work of slaves but they will tell you otherwise. They shout corruption corruption, where does all the worlds corrupt money go? Slave mentality, inferiority complex is why you care what the British think, it is why you fall over yourselves over Harry and Meghan, it is the same slave mentality why you give yourselves English names and speak in fake foreign accents. Try all you can to be like hem, they will always look down on you. So get a life a have some self respect.

Why do you care about their hypocrisy, why are you bothered about what they think of you? If you care about their hypocrisy it is because deep down you desire their acceptance and validation.

You that you're writing this rubbish what economic skill do you have? You're writing as if you have any tangible contribution to the growth of Nigeria's economy other than being a govt asskisser.
A farm that will produce 10 tons of maize will be farmed by one person. It just shows how shallow you are just mouthing frivolous and directionless rubbish.
Fool.
It’s like a lecturer giving an example in class using widgets. I have said it many times….You are clearly brain dead.

It was a hypothetical example to illustrate inefficiency. If 10 people are doing the work of 1 person the value or market price of their output does not increase because there are 10 workers. The market does not care! The guy who does the job alone will determine the market price and that will be the benchmark. This is why Nigerian products are not competitive internationally. If you like use 100 man hours to build a car, the price you will get for the car is set by the company who builds a similar car in 20 man hours. The value of Labour output in both factories is the same so the wage for the worker in factory A has to be 5 times less than the wage for the worker in factory B. If your price is any higher because you Labour costs are higher, your cars will be expensive, nobody will buy your cars and you will go out of business.

If you like employ 100 people to extract a barrel of oil when your competitors are employing 20 or 10. The price of your crude is the same in the market. So your workers will have to be paid less to remain in business. This is the productivity problem of the Nigerian worker. The market doesn’t care what the price of peak milk is or whether you can feed yourself on your salary. The supermarket worker would earn more if they didn’t have to employ someone just to tear receipts as if Nigeria is the only place there are supermarket thieves. You go to a Nigerian supermarket and you see idle staff chocking the aisles doing nothing to the point of disturbing the flow of shoppers, each of them is the reason they all collectively earn little. In a supermarket abroad where staff are paid better you do t see all this nonsense you see with Nigerian workers like singing playing music and dancing on duty. The Nigerian worker adds little value and that is why he is paid peanuts.

If you don’t get that it shows (once again) you really are daft.

Honestly sometime I wonder if this president brain is still in order . The money he is proposing,. Can it feed home of four for a week. Why is this man so wicked
The questions many of you should ask but are not asking is what is the output of a minim wage worker if the average Output of the Nigerian worker is N250k a month? Why is the productivity of the Nigerian worker so low?

The answer is you have 4,5,6,7 people doing the job of 1 person therefore sharing the salary of 1 person. The reason is the average Nigerian worker has no economic skills, that is why you will employ someone in a supermarket just to sit down at the exit and tear customers receipts. Same thing you have govt refinery workers collecting salaries for decades and refining nothing. Yet the workers in DPR for instance who actually work cannot get a hiflgher wage because they money is spent on salaries for idle refinery workers. If govt says we want to sack refinery workers because they have no output, it is the same workers that will say no and go on strike.

You have 2 identical farms both produce 10 tones of maize worth 10m, one has 1 farmer the other has 10 farmers. Clearly 1 farmer is capable of farming that farm on his own but because 10 farmers decide to farm the same size farm. The farmer in farm A will go home with 10m while the farmers in farm B will go home with 1m each.

This thing is not rocket science.

Clearly peak mild is not for minimum wage earners. What makes a minimum wage earner feel he is entitled to peak milk?

I repeat the GDP per capita of the average worker in Nigeria is N3m a year or N250k a month. Therefore the monthly economic output of a minimum wage worker is closer to N80k. If your economic output is 80k a month what gives you the audacity to think you are entitled to consume milk of N64k?

From his labour a man shall eat. You cannot eat more than your output.

GDP $400B. Population 200m GDP per capita $2000 or N3M or N250k a month. This is the average worker. A minimum wage worker outputs much less than N250k a month so why should he earn anything close to that?

IPOb talking about brains…irony and audacity! The reason why you people always fail politically is because you generally lack emotional intelligence and are very poor in human relations. You generally tend to think of yourselves only and expect others must align with your thoughts and generally you are always too arrogant to try and put yourselves in the heads of your adversaries or co-travellers. If you did you would understand why after 64 years you have never produced a president. You will understand why it is not in the interest of a northern governor who want to be president to back Atiku. As for your hero Obi there is no scenario where he becomes president of Nigeria in this life or the next. If you want an ibo president start to prepare someone like Chidoka for the battle against Umahi in 2039 ( who is clearly being groomed) otherwise the SS will take your slot.

It will be a collective effort by all irrespective to save the nation. Tinubu knows this, and his camp is already weeping. I foresee Ganduje leaving APC and stabbing Tinubu in the back.
O e can always spot an IPOB from his posts. He posts with his emotions and not his brains, he expects everyone must think the way he thinks and agreee with him. He talks about collective when it suits him and then secession when it doesn’t. Let me tell you something…the north are strategic when it comes to politics unlike you. They are not voting for Atiku or Obi, they will wait so one of them will have an uncontested 8 year run as president and they will back the person who beat ensures that and right now it is Tinubu. The northern governors who made Tinubu president did not make him president necessarily out of any love for him but out of strategic political self interest. If Lawan who was the presidents choice had his way that was the end of their ambitions. So it made sense to stop Lawan, gain the support of the SW and wait till 2031. Similarly Northern PDP governors will openly back TInubu in 2027….just watch! They certainly will not back Atiku. You can see it already in their body language since Tinubu became president.

I have stated it before that the only way the opposition can win an election is to prepare a different candidate. The majority of Northern governors are not going to work for Atiku because all politics is about interest and it is not in the interests of those with ambitions to be president someday to back Atiku. Atiku and Obi will never be president of Nigeria…know this and know peace.

casualobserver:
Oga go and study social studies before you even think of politics 101.

You were all in PDP, you had 14m votes, you didn’t gree for anybody, you went your seperate ways and lost to the man with 8m votes, now you are visiting up and down as if “united we stand” is a concept you just invented, for what to happen? For Atiku to step down for Obi or for Obi to step down for Atiku?

What caused division in 2023 will cause division in 2027 because it’s in the DNA of PDP.

Know these facts:

1) Nigeria will never vote for Peter obi as president, whatever party he is in. He is unelectable. He might be popular amongst his supporters but as you saw from 2023, his supporters are not enough, they are not the ones he needs to convince. The problem with Obi is that his opponents despise him with more energy than his supporters love him. He is the kind of person that you either will vote him come rain or sunshine or God forbid even if hell freezes over, there is no changing people’s minds on Obi for or against. So if he didn’t have the votes in 2023, he won’t get any additional votes in 20027.
2) the north will not risk Atiku because by 2027 he will be too old for 2 terms and they do not want Obi as president via the Jonathan route.
3) Atiku and Obi are bad market, none of them can become president. If PDP and OBi are smart and want SE President their best chance is unite behind someone like Chidoka…..but the same thing that destroyed them in 2023 will consume them again….ego, desperation and a lack of strategic thinking!
4) plus it is difficult for a fresh face from the south to become president as that will mean a possible 12 years of southern presidency, the north would rather let Tinubu finish his 8 years. If there is one thing we know about the North, when it comes to politics, they are strategic and play the long game.

Buhari was re-elected despite the hardship of 2019. You don’t just say because the incumbent is doing a bad job (in your opinion) therefore your victory is assured.

APC had no business winning 2023 ….but they won! If the opposition 1) keep fielding unelectable candidates and 2) cannot contain their ego and keep acting without strategy, they will lose in 2027 no matter how tough things are under Tinubu.

Let me state it clearly obi and Atiku cannot win in 2027. Obi is unelectable and Atiku has missed his chance. Obi commited political suicide by leaving PDP. Already the north/south factor does not favour the opposition for 2027. They know Atiku cannot do 2 terms and they want their 8 yrs when it is their turn. They would rather Tinubu finishes his 2 terms so that when one of them becomes president he has 8 uncontested years.

Think about it. You are a northern governor (irrespective of party), why would you support Atiku to take away your ambition when if you wait 4 years you could be president? Who are the people that control delegates again? Exactly the governors! Better understand that Northern governors of both PDP and APc will support Tinubu in 2027 because it is not in their interest for Atiku to be president.

No! instead they are building their own schools and universities like Chatham house school and wigwe university.

But d gov believes since dia kids study abroad... why spend more on home universities ...

they are spending all they can spend, the rest has to come from increased fees. You can’t spend what you don’t have. Do you think the government deliberately want to produce unemployable graduates? Do you think those who send their kids abroad want to send their kids abroad? They do because they have no choice, they have no choice because the massses insist on cheap university fees which drags down the quality of the degrees.

I don't support the government that has more funding for pilgrimage than education...

I don’t support the spending of 1 kobo of government money on pilgrimage or any religious activity but I also do not support the idea that govt owes its citizens free or cheap university education or that everyone has a right to university education. The present system is neither good for our universities or good for the graduates they produce, we are just throwing away money. Government should wash its hands off university education. Universities should charge what they want and government should provide scholarships to deserving students or areas where there are skills shortages and student loans to others

Most big people in this country are into or have been involved in shady, criminal dealings but in Nigeria once you have money, you will be praised.

The rot in this country is ridiculous. undecided undecided shocked
Onyema’s issues is not news. Even on Nairaland there are threads upon threads about it.

huh They were guest who came to visit you & even visit our wonded soldiers. it doesn’t matter if they are 'disgraced' somewhere else, cause thier 'graced' brethren haven't even offered us same level of respect. We shouldn't give a shyt about anything else but the attitude guest showed us.

Though I agree with the claiming part
Keep making excuses for your low self esteem and lack of self worth. They came to use your wounded soldiers to get some publicity for. their damaged brand. They used you and because you lack self dignity you fell for it.

They went to a country of people with low self worth because they are damaged goods in their usual hunting grounds.

Why didn’t they come to visit you when they were still darlings of the British media, why didn’t they come when they were still full members of the royal family? Do you think it is today Meghan suddenly discovered she has Nigerian blood? You think she didn’t know when she was getting married to Harry? Why didn’t she tell the world then?

Self respect and dignity is nationwide. Don't glorify only a single part
Show me where a northerner tried to claim Meghan is Hausa or Fulani? It is always southerners specifically Ibos (always) and daft Yorubas who engage them in their nonsense that engage in such low self esteem foolishness.

Nigeria a predominantly Muslim country?
Nothing wey banku no go see for Ghana people hand o
Nigeria is a predominantly Muslim country. They marry more women and have more children. We Christian’s marry 1 wife and most have 1 or 2 children. Many of our women remain single and childless for life.

If it isnt now it will be. So if you like continue to say Christianity prohibits polygamy….it does not.

Britain should not use their royal beef to insult Nigeria. Enough of this rawbish!
Are we not the ones always insulting ourselves with our inferiority complex falling over ourselves to welcome disgraced Royal and his B-list actress wife, falling over ourselves to claim her as yoruba or Ibo? This is why I like the Northerners…they have self respect and dignity.
