People with brains know this. You came 3rd, you file an election petition and not once did you even try to show how you came 1st. Instead you are trying to disqualify the winner based on issues that are non starters. |
ChidiKalu:My friend can you not see I have been ignoring you. I am not even reading your messages, this is he only one I partially read. I told you to provide the evidence Michael ibru was worth $8b as you claimed when he died. We all know that federal place hotel was insolvent when he died. It had debts of 17b and assets if N10b. As at that time they had given away 49% to an investor who later pulled out of the deal. The days of federal pace and Sheraton are over, when last did you hear of Sheraton or FPH except for the balmoral hall as a venue for weddings and parties? Nobody lodges at Federal place or Sheraton anymore. I repeat don’t respond to me unless you have evidence of this $8b wealth or you are ready to admit you made it up or just hearsay. You are just talking out of hearsay and bear parkour Geist. The real rich ibru was Michael, Felix was just a normal average rich Nigerian who was probably not worth more than $10m when he died if that. Same with Alex. I am not so sure about Godiie but I know 100% feleix and Alex were not super wealthy as at the time they died or ever. Ibru is Michael, the others lived off the name and while they were millionaires were nowhere near Michael…not even close. I advice you to find something doing with your life instead of obsessing about other people’s wealth or lack of. I am done with you. |
Penguin2:I swear you are daft!!! You don’t even know the meaning of “or”. “Or” means if any of the conditions apply. None of the conditions apply because he is neither “under sentence” nor has he been convicted in the last 10 yrs. Go and ask a lawyer the meaning of “under sentence” I swear you people are daft! Go and look for mike izekhone’s interview yesterday in the Akwa Ibom governors case. Don’t think because a lawyer is taking a case to court, the plaintiff has a case. Very often a lawyer will proceed with a case he knows he cannot win. Either for money or because his client wants him to despite advice. Listen to Ezekome talk about a lawyer bringing a case to court similar to the same case he brought to court previously and was dismissed previously. ClearLy showing the lawyer knows he is going to lose. When defendants are closing their case in 1 day with 1 witness it shows you have no case. Your case is open and shut, flimsy. Mind you this is the same Ezekome that is usually on PDP or IPOB side o. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3LhwR7EFyw Nothing more to say! |
Enice:They were rich and like I said they are one of the few old money families that are still rich but let’s not exaggerate this thing like we tend to do as Nigerians. There were many families comparable or richer than the Ibru’s. Mai deribe of Borno, the Dantatas, Dehinde Fernandez, Henry Fajemirokun, Bode Akindele to mention just a few. Abiola was a govt contractor. Most of his businesses ventures were failures be it concord airlines, wonderbread, Abiola bookshop, Abiola farms. Abiola was the definition of rent seeker. |
MALIGNANTHost:What is there to ask you need to walk away. The girl has made it clear you are not her priority. |
Penguin2:People see me see trouble o! I was going to search the web to post the relevant section but the slowpoke above didn’t even realize it is there in the portion of the constitution he posted. Oga please just cast your eyes down to section E of what you posted and read. Section D is “under sentence”. That means you are currently serving a sentence I.e community service, imprisonment etc and you have not finished or completed your sentence. Under sentence means your sentence hasn’t been carried out, I.e your prison term has not been served, your fine has not been paid And if you were sentenced to death, you have not been executed. Even if a fine was the sentence once you have paid it, you are no longer under sentence. Section d and E together means you must not have been convicted and sentenced in the last 10 years (Section E) and any sentence due to a conviction must have been served (section D) The problem with many of you is English. Something is right in front of you in black and white and you can’t even connect the dots….na wah oh! Your brains are dead…kaput!!!! Unfortunately I don’t think you people will ever be allright. My friend know this and know peace, If you were convicted for murder 11 years ago and you were sentenced to 10yrs in prison and a fine of N1m. Once you have served your prison sentence ( even if you were released early for good behaviour like Ibori) and paid your fine in full as at the date of filling your forms you can contest for president. It’s there in black and white, thank God na you post the relevant section of the constitution with your own hand. |
CAN should go and sit down! |
AsomughaChuks05:Imagine learning from Peter Obi. 😂 |
egoldman:Oga I made a statement of fact. He did not steal any $2b. Learn to read and comprehend. I did not say stealing is not a crime. If you on the other hand claim he stole where is your evidence? You just don’t make statements without evidence. Even if he wasn’t convicted what was the allegation of theft? I was around during that period I know for a fact that Umaru Dikko was the most powerful minister and effectively the de facto president but nobody actually said he stole, just like no one ever accused Shagari of stealing. Feel free to list what he was alleged to have stolen even if he wasn’t convicted. Let me help you with a format for your response: 1)Diezani has not been convicted but she was alledged to have stolen money with the likes of Jide Onokore and Kola Aluko etc. 2)Obasanjo, Babangida etc acquired assets and a lifestyle beyond their income as govt workers. please tell me what the theft allegation against Dikko was besides being a powerful minister. I am being very lenient with you, I didn’t say conviction, I said allegation. The bar is very low, you shouldn’t have a problem responding. Google is your friend feel free to use it to search for what Dikko allegedly stole. You won’t find anything because Dikko wasn’t wanted because he stole anything, he was wanted because he was the most powerful man in the govt. Cc: Patrioticman007 |
madridguy:He should allow Nigerians breathe abeg, all the noise and he is not even saying he won. |
Penguin2:Why are you people wasting your time? Even if it was a criminal offense and he was guilty, the law clearly states the offense must have been committed in the 10yrs preceding the election. Can you people not read? It’s there in black and white!!! All the things. You people are fighting for in the petition are non starters. I have not heard a single attempt at proving you actually won the election! 1. Irev is irrelevant, the Supreme Court ruled in the Osun state case 2. Certificates etc are pre election matters this has been ruled upon many times. In fact only yesterday it was ruled again in the case of Akwa Ibom governor. 3. The only case that needs to be determined in 25% of FCT and anyone with common sense knows that the Supreme Court can never rule that if a man wins 36 states but doesn’t win Abuja he cannot be president. You people are wasting your time and giving your supporters false hope. Again I state, you are not even saying you won. |
whippersnapper:Didnt realize his wife is 70. Exactly 3 years older than him. |
HacheNoire:Will you resign while you are sick, still governor and the government is paying your bills? |
Patrioticman007:Don’t mind these ignorant Nigerians. There was a case of a “missing” $2.8b from NNPC where some officials of the NNPC moved the money to an account and collected the interest and then moved the money back after allegedly collecting the interest. But 1) it had nothing to do with Umaru Dikko 2) it happened during the military govt of Obasanjo while Buhari was petroleum minister aand before Shagari and Umaru Dikko ascended power. The fact that the money was “moved” to collect the interest and “returned” not “stolen” tells anyone how difficult it was to steal that sort of money in those days. In those days if you stole $1m you are a big thief. Most of the governors and ministers Buhari locked up in 1984, their crimes were. Less than $1m, 100k, 200k etc and in many cases it wasn’t “personal stealing” it was diversion to party. People like Bola Ige and Ambrose Alli. That has always been standard practice in Nigerian politics. Even Awo was convicted of diverting Western region funds to AG in the ‘60s. The $2.8b was the subject of Fela’s song “Army Arrangement” “ Two-point-eight-billion naira Oil money is missing Two-point-eight-billion naira Oil money is missing Them set up inquiry Them say money no lost e oh Them dabaru everybody Supervisor Obasanjo Them say make him no talk e oh "Money no lost," them shout again Inquiry come close e oh E no finish, e no finish, e no finish, e no finish, e no finish, e no finish” Nothing to do with Umaru Dikko, in fact I remmember Dikko was living almost in penury after he left govt. |
guysbewise:Umaru Dikko did not steal any $2b |
Murketeer:People don’t like being told the truth. Very few countries provide free education from primary to university. Certainly not a poor country with a large population. Listen you are free to demand free university. Politicians will give you what you want, even subsidy if you say you want subsidy they will bring back subsidy. But it is you that will suffer for it….not them or their children. You are the ones that will end up with worthless degrees and unemployable. When you go to university to end up qas an Uber driver, sales girl, bank clerk , admin assistant etc etc it is a sign too many people are going to University. University is not for everybody. The best jobs today are not going to graduates of Nigerian public universities. That tells you how your Nigerian degrees are valued by employers. |
ChidiKalu:You really are daft. I told you, if Ibrus are big players in the oil palm Industry I will know. The way I have responded to you about various matter s should tell you you are dealing with someone with more than just a passing knowledge of the oil palm industry. But like Mmesoma you don’t know when “this one pass you” Like I said evidence of Ibru $8b or get the fork out of my posts. You have no credibility until you can back up your $8b claim. Just so you know as at the time Michael died FPH was dead because they could t meet their financial obligation to their South African partners , aero was in receivership and yet you claim the man had $8b at time of death. |
ChidiKalu:Are you not the fool that said “ When Olorogun Michael Ibru died in 2016, legal/court documents showed he left over $8B in assets and cash behind...and that's just one Ibru.”. We’re Dangote, Adenuga and the Oil woman shares in the public domain when Forbes declared them billionaires? You lawyer, asset management! Comedian keep deceiving yourself. You are lucky this is the internet where anyone can assume any persona. Since we are playing fantasy career why not claim to be chairman of Goldman Sachs….idiot! You know a fake GM an on the internet when he starts to tell you I am this I am that. If you really know what you are talking about, the accuracy, legitimacy and facts in your post will speak for you. You are clearly a wannabe. You know where you gave yourself away and I knew for certain I was dealing with a quack? When you mentioned Presco and Okomu as well as claiming Ibru was worth $8b. You clearly have no idea of what $1b is talk less of $8. Idiot! In fact the more I think about it the more I am certain the entire Ibru family is not worth $500m. |
ChidiKalu:They are not! Oga you are looking at this thing with a small mindset and making assumptions. 6k hectares is only “large” in Nigeria, it’s peanuts, it’s only big to someone with a small mindset. Even in Ivory Coast Gabon etc these same companies that own Prescott, okumu and Wilmer have plantations of 100,000 ha. That is the kind of scale you operate at when you go into oil palm. That is why many Nigerians with small plantations fail, younneee 10,000 and above to be financially competitive. If you are lucky you will make $6m a year with 6000ha. . Oga adebutus plantation JB farms is small. The only serious players in oil palm in Nigeria worth of mention are Prescott, okomu, and Wilmer pz, they are all owned by foreigners. None of them turns over $100m p.a Oga you have a small mindset. The big players in the oil palm industry in Nigeria are foreigners, it is not unusual for a small Nigerianstakeholder to head the association. Please don’t ever compare Ibru to Dangote When I t came on this thread and told you Ibru’s are wealthy, you didn’t have problem, ow that I am telling you they are not as rich as you think you have problem. You claim Ibru died with assets of $8b, I said if he did, it will be on the internet because the Ibru family saga and legal squabbles was well publicized. Please show me or just go away and stop responding to me. Unless you can show me where Michael Ibru had assets of even $2b Don’t bother replying to me or I won’t answer you. |
tunde1200:The man has no money |
ChidiKalu:Stop lying. If he did it will be in the internet show me and I will gladly apologize. You are the one speaking out of ignorance and without facts. I said I doubt Ibru family combined are not worth $1b today. I said closer to $500m is my estimate. But I won’t be surprised if it is only $250m. They had a lot of problems, Aero contractors was taken over by AMCON, they had problems with Federal palace hotel. They are still rich but not like before. Like I said I am being generous in my estimates. That they are still standing is success because like I said many of the old money families of the 70s and 80s are dead and buried. |
ChidiKalu:Head of association is meaningless, you can be head of IPMAN and have only 2 gas stations. Ibru May have oil palm plantation but trust me I know whatever his plantation is is small. If it were large or functioning I would know. Most Nigerian wealthy families from the ,80s have had their wealth decimated over the years. Be it Ibru, Tejuoso, Dantata, fajemirokun, Ojukwu, Adebowale, Bakare etc. for many of them the foundation of the wealt has disappeared. Why? Because most of their wealth was in Naira, earned in Naira in a country where the people were getting poorer and poorer and cannot afford their core products. Most of their investments were in Nigeria as patriotic citizens but devaluation has wiped out the value of their investments. That the Ibru’s are still standing is a testament to the wealth and diversification. But they are nowhere near Dangote as you claimed. Like I said I doubt they are worth $1b today. The new Nigerian billionaires today are new money and most are either in banking, oil, telecoms or exports. Ibru is still standing but Ibru is not Ibru of the 1980s. People are celebrating the rise of the stock market but they forget the Naira devaluation has wiped out all of that gain in dollars. Like I said we like to overhype. Elumelu is a rich man but he is not a dollar billionaire…not yet! The entire UBA is not worth $500m and how much of it does he own? How much is transform worth and how much of it does he own? We just calll billionaire anyhow. Dollar billionaire is not beans! |
ChidiKalu:Dunlop is dead. I don’t know if they had any interest in Dunlop but Dunlop left Nigeria decades ago. I dont know what became of the rubber plantations. As for Presco and Okomu. Nothing to do with the Ibru’s. If they have any shares they are minor shareholders. Both companies are majority owned by foreign companies and in the case of Okomu the largest Nigerian shareholder by far is Gbenga Oyebode. As for a comment you made somewhere about comparisons to Dangote…..no way. The Ibru’s are rich and might have been worth close to a billion dollars or more in the ‘80s but I very much doubt the wealth is up to $500m today and I am being generous. I won’t be surprised if it’s only half. A lot of the wealth of old Nigerian money was destroyed by the devaluation of the Naira over the years. We disrespect $1b in this country. There are very few people in this country that are worth $200m talk less $1b. Probably less than 500. Nigeria does not have 20 legitimate dollar billionaires quiet or no quiet. Even Elumelu that people shout billionaire is not a billionaire. Hiis major assets are uba and transcorp check his shareholding and the market cap |
ChidiKalu:I stand corrected, you are right I should have said “some”. |
Believeintruth:Like I said you are daft. Please tell me where I said businesses do not pay tax. What I said is too many people and businesses especially SMEs aka informal sector are either not captured in the tax net or they don’t pay the level of taxes they should pay. A good example is landlords. Another is dividends, most people just pay the withholding tax on dividends which is deducted at source and not the full tax on dividends. Another is vat. A lot of SMEs charge or are supposed to charge vat but do not remit it. You are clearly daft and or also lack basic English comprehension. Your bias is not allowing your brain to engage assuming you had one to begin with. Nigeria has one of the lowest tax collection ratios in the world….this is fact. Most eligible taxpayers are not even in the tax net. I.e the tax authorities are not officially aware of them. This is fact! Most Eligible individual and corporate/business taxpayers (I hope you Understand the meaning of eligible) either do not pay tax or pay far less that what they are supposed to…this is fact. Govt requires revenues to provide public services…this is fact The world benchmark for revenue to GDP is 20%, Nigeria is currently well below that this is fact Just capturing those who are eligible but currently don’t pay their fair share without raising taxes for those who pay will boost the governments coffers and its ability to provide public services….this is common sense. As an example, The uk makes more from tax on petrol/ diesel than the countries that produce the petrol. For every $1 Of Nigerian crude, the Nigerian govt makes maybe 40cents. But the UK govt which didn’t produce the crude, slaps a over 100% tax on petrol/diesel and makes more than $1 for doing nothing and taking no risks. That’s why their country is how it is. For all your investment exploration and investment, you make 40cents and yet want to spend 35 cents on subsidy…..fool! You don’t want to pay tax, your govt says no problem ( it’s not them that will suffer). They provide you with inferior education because that’s all your taxes can pay for, you graduate and complain you can’t get a job. Meanwhile they take your scarce forex and send their children abroad, back in the day the children of presidents, governors and the rich were in the same public Nigerian schools and universities with the common man getting g the same good education. The family of the royal family were attending our teaching hospitals to get proper medical care. Before the rich and the poor shared the same roads, now the rich fly while you spend hours on bad roads. They are even building airports for themselves under the guise of Agro airports. If you like pay tax if you like don’t and protest. They will do whatever you want but you are the ones that will suffer. Tinubu, Atiku and Obi are all very wealthy, their friends aand family will not suffer whether you pay tax or not. M0ron!!!
|
It’s too small. Fees in Universities like Unilag, Ui, ABU, UNN, OAU, Uniben, BUK, in fact the top federal university in every state should be minimum 1m if we really want to improve the quality of education in Nigeria. Intelligent poor students who are studying courses deemed to be of benefit to society can qualify for federal and state. scholarships. If you are in a school, any school or University and you don’t see children of noteworthy people in society, know that you are not in a good school. The universities I mentioned above had children of presidents, Vice Presidents, governors, CEOs of top multinationals etc rubbing with children of the poor in the hostels and classes. If the children of elite are not in your school, you are not getting the best education or making lasting life contacts. Children of the elite are not sending their children to N100k pa university. Even if you raise to 5m some will not send so anything below 1m you are just wasting your time. The days of free or cheap University are over. |
Believeintruth:Like I told you, you are an idiot https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/7/nigeria-on-quest-to-almost-double-tax-to-gdp-ratio-in-three-years In countries like the UAE every company is in the tax net. The problem with NIgeria is that most people are NOT in the tax net. If you have any brains and read my post again, you will see that all NIgeria has to do is get those who are supposed to pay tax but don’t to pay tax that’s alll. I did not and never said increase peoples taxes. I said tax those who are suppose to pay taxes but don’t. M0ron!!!! The UAE you are talking about actually tax businesses. It is because they tax businesses that income tax is zero. UAE is also a unique country because their infrastructure needs and demands are not comparable to Nigeria. The entire population of the UAE is less than half of just Lagos state. It is 5% of Nigeria’s population. The entire land mass of abudabi and dubai is less than the geographical area of just Lagos state. Most of the country is desert. Therefore the infrastructure needs are less but despite that, their tax to GPD ratio is 14%. slowpoke |
Believeintruth:You have no point. You are the one blinded by political propaganda. Everybody knows, subsidy must go, exchange rates must collapse and Nigeria must increase its tax collection ratio. See the rest of the world, see your mates in Africa! This is as at 2020, only Libya and Somalia has a worse tax to gdp ration than Nigeria….what do we know about Libya and Somalia in 2020? It has gone up but we are still lagging behind. Fools like you will come here and talk about they have light in ghana, they have good roads in Cotonou…..na tax kill am. South Africa that Nigerians like to run to see their tax to GDP ratio 28% compared to Nigeria at 3%. How can we have the same good schools and roads like they have? Yet they are a smaller economy than us!!! You don’t want to pay tax but you want a developed society….idiots!!!!
|
Believeintruth:You are daft, because you an SME you shouldn’t pay tax? They are the ones most guilty of not paying appropriate tax in this country. So called SMEs so called informal sector. They make a lot of money, many of them make N10-100m and more a year. Ow many of them pay the required taxes? The guy with a small/medium shop selling spare parts/ electronics/building materials etc or the woman with a food kiosk can make upwards of N30-100k a day in profit. That’s N10-30m a year, such a person should be paying between N2m and N6m in taxes but if you see their tax clearance certificates it will say N100k, N200k. Landlords that collect rent, do they pay taxes on the rent? Because they don’t wear suit and tie and go to offices you think they are poor? It is the man that wears suit and tie and works in an office that Carrie’s the tax burden of this country. |
Believeintruth:Use your brains. You want subsidized petrol, you want good roads, you want infrastructure, you want free education, you want health care but you don’t want to pay tax. Good luck figuring that out. You are the one without sense. There are a lot of self employed people in this country that earn between N10m and N1b a year that do not pay taxes They will tell you they are billionaires but their tax clearance certificates will say tax paid 500k. You have no brains otherwise you will realize you don’t have to tax the poor to raise taxes, just tax the people who should pay but currently don’t. People that have 5 cars 10 cars, whose children study abroad but pay less than N1m in taxes. Or foreign companies like MTN and dstv, Facebook, Twitter etc that make money from this country and either don’t pay taxes of pay minimal taxes. The other times MTN was fined, did they pay? Check the tax clearance certificates of all the people who contested for office in the last elections most of them did not pay the tax they were supposed to pay including people like Obi. Idiot!! |
Believeintruth:Even Tinubu himself said the country needs to sim for 15-20% tax to GDP so I don’t know what your point is. Nigeria is one of the lowest taxed nations in the world and even Africa. The problem is that those that pay tax take the brunt for the majority that don’t pay tax as a result of the laziness of tax collection agencies. There is a large pool of untaxed and I don’t mean the poor. |
