Why are you hurt that I am who I am out of sheer hard work and grit? Do I intimidate you? All you have been doing lately has been all over what I do.

Do you even realise that before any attempt is made to be a plastic surgeon one has to first be a general surgeon?

UK isn't Nigeria so you need to stick with your place. I worked hard to be who I am and all deliberately done to fit into my field of focus but alas in all it has never been as gratifying as what I am doing now and all for the sake of Jesus and my "mobile intensive prayer unit" team (we are already building a network).

Poke all you want but it wouldn't alter who I am and what I do.
Me? Hurt? For what?
Your specialty has been all over the place, so, I'm trying to get a clear picture.
And for clarity sake. Plastic surgery is not a sub specialty of General surgery. It's a different residency program on its own as per RCS website, but I'm sure you'll bring BMA website.
A surgeon that prefers the news of another body to the one regulatory body she supposedly belongs to.

If you feel I'm doing it to ridicule you, I'm sorry.
I'll stop now.

Your quote below

Training for trauma surgeons is sometimes difficult to obtain. In the United Kingdom, the Royal College of Surgeons of England is responsible for training consultants via the Definitive Surgical Trauma Skills course (DSTS) for Orthopaedics. It remains the only course of its kind in the United Kingdom

At the bold text, I got it and I am glad I did and am one. You said trauma and orthopaedics are together. Can you point out where I said they were not?

Be honest when you read and not just to oppose me. Under General surgery you hold the power to choose your sub. based on your field of focus.

https://www.rcseng.ac.uk/news-and-events/media-centre/media-background-briefings-and-statistics/general-surgery/
Are you now claiming to be a military Surgeon? Should we add that to your list?
The specialty includes military surgeons, who will be trained with a particular focus on trauma and emergency surgery.
I don't know what training you got honey, but you're not a traumatologist, for you to be one, you'll either have to be a military Surgeon or an orthopedic.
Besides, what sort of trauma surgeon/General Surgeon is registered with BAAPS? the body for plastic surgeons in the u.k?

Training for trauma surgeons is sometimes difficult to obtain. In the United Kingdom, the Royal College of Surgeons of England is responsible for training consultants via the Definitive Surgical Trauma Skills course (DSTS) for Orthopaedics. It remains the only course of its kind in the United Kingdom

According to Royal College of Surgeons,
Traumatology and Orthopedics are the same specialty. A general surgeon can't be a traumasurgeon i.e FRCS (Tr/Ortho) as seen in this link

Very funny how Atheists accuse and crucify Christians for the same thing they are guilty of

Objectively Atheism is the opposite of theism...
Darkness is not the opposite of light rather it's the absence of light
DDeath is not the opposite of life but the absence of life
If these two examples I stated up here were to be the status of relationship between Atheism and theism then y'all would have had a good course

Theism believe in God
Atheism believe in no God

Both believe in something!!!

Don't come at me with "atheist have a believe cos they don't believe in God" cos theist too can be like we don't have a believe cos we don't believe in inexistence of God

BBoth are just opposite!!

Creation cannot exist without a creator!!
Who the creator is I don't know but there must be a creator because matter cannot create matter!
I thought Atheism is absence of belief in gods.
Brand new definition you've got there.

Freedom. Education. Exposure.

I think at some point, every atheist before abandoning his/her god would have asked him/herself this questions...

1. Why do I even think there is god?

2. What makes my own version of god more authentic than others'?

3. Are the stories I've been fed from childhood really through? (Now my kid brother has been asking me this particular question for some thine now).

These are just some of the many questions whose answers lead many away from the god idea, some to deism, some to other religions and others to atheism.

Something we can all agree on is that the way religion is played in Nigeria leaves much to be desired, but that is not enough reason, the worse that can lead to is a rise in the number of irreligious theists.
Okay, I see your point though.

I would not normally respond to such obvious ignorance as you display here, but I view you as a junior medical colleague and it is incumbent upon me to educate you.

The highest certifying body for cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the entire world is the American Heart Association. I happen to be affiliated with them as well as the Resuscitation Council of South Africa. I am also at least a decade senior to you in medical practice but I base this rebuttal on scientific reasoning not appeal to my authority.
In my post you reference, I am not making a personal statement : I am telling you the expert consensus on resuscitation arrived at by a panel of 5000 expert practitioners who form the advisory council of the American Heart Association. Here is their website: https://www.onlineaha.org/

I do not know how far along you are in your studies so I will keep the discussion as simple as possible.

Hypothermia is known to reduce metabolic activity sometimes so much so that vital signs become undetectable without suitable equipment. This knowledge is utilized in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and in ICU settings (therapeutic hypothermia)
A patient brought in with a history or obvious signs of hypothermia should not be hastily certified as dead. An attempt must be made to raise the core body temperature to physiological range i.e 36.6 to 37.2C. while following ACLS protocols. This is termed 'active rewarming'.
Else you just might bury a living person.
Survival after CPR in hypothermic patient has been recorded after up to 6 hours of coma :
Axelrod YK, Diringer MN (May 2008). "Temperature management in acute neurologic disorders". Neurol. Clin. 26 (2): 585–603, xi. PMID 18514828. doi:10.1016/j.ncl.2008.02.005.
This is the basis for the clinical pearl you scoff at - a person is not dead until he is warm and dead. (I trust that you know what a 'clinical pearl' is.)

Even a simple wikipedia search which - you have failed to do , supports my assertion : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothermia#Prognosis

As a medical student and future doctor, you should hold yourself to a higher standard and be more circumspect in your statements especially as it concerns scientific issues.
I wish you good luck in your endeavors.
Nairaland Christian Medical doctors allow their faith to envelope their power of deductive and critical thinking.
I deal with them all the time.
It's refreshing seeing a Christian doctor who can separate his faith from his profession. It's a rarity, really.

Malaria meant "bad air"
because they thought it was "air borne"

Please get your facts right.
Your desperation is at work again.

On the other hand death is as good as a Law among almost all living things.

Comparing malaria that was already known as disease with death is the real laziness.
If you look at history books, disease conditions like schizophrenia, epilepsy and yes, malaria was said to be from god.
It was through critical thinking and observation that it was noted that people tend to develop malaria when they were exposed to stagnant bodies of water, this was erroneously thought to be from breathing in bad air, hence the name malaria.

Luckily for you and I, they didn't stop there, they went a step further and now you can make noise about malaria being caused by a parasite.

If they had been mentally lazy like you and still remained with the god or bad air explanation, you would have died off a long time ago.

So, stop this intellectual laziness. That we are yet to fully understand what triggers ROSC doesn't mean that it is automatically god.
god has been disproved with schizophrenia, epilepsy, porphyria cutanea tarda, I'm sure he will be disproved again with ROSC.

Not only because of belief of the scientists,
Firstly nobody ascribed Malaria to God
Secondly, there is nothing about malaria that goes against basic physiologic mechanisms unlike Coming back from the dead.
Malaria is pathogen, vector, blood, symptoms, treatment.

So your malaria argument is like comparing apples with aeroplanes.
So, you were there at the outset to know nobody ascribed malaria to god? Interesting. Maybe you should learn about the meaning of malaria in Greek and Latin.

That you know that malaria is caused by a parasite borne by a vector today is because the scientists then refused to accept any lazy explanation like the way y'all are explaining away ROSC.

Your malaria argument usually doesn't make sense because many of the people who worked on malaria, vaccines etc believe in God and his powers.

Besides, once u can explain it, it means it can be reproduced just like treatment and outcome.
Which will never happen.
All living systems in humans are programmed to die after a certain time.
That itself is a mystery.
You don't get it. The beliefs of the people that discovered it is irrelevant in this scenario.
My question is this, what if they ascribed the etiology of malaria to god like you and space.tacular are doing with Autoresuscitation?
Africa would have been a wasteland.

So if according to your statement miracles do happen which as you said, "things go against science all the time and that does not make them wrong (which puts miracles smack in the centre of this) ", what then would you ascribe those things to? Coincidence? Stroke of luck? An evolutionary bypass?
It could be dumb luck or coincidence if it happens as a one off, I've given an example here before. A set of twins fell from a skyscraper while cleaning Windows. One survived and one didn't, that's just pure dumb luck.

But if it is shown to happen repeatedly, like Autoresuscitation, then it's no longer coincidence or luck, there's an underlying cause. This is where science steps in and tries to unravel the mystery.

We are not talking about cancer. We are talking about death and autoresuscitation not spontaneous remission and you and I know why you would rather drop dead than agree that your Lazarus syndrome is not tenable in medicine as it is not an empirically verifiable medical position but simply an attempt to give a name to a mystery.
What will you do when science finally describes the pathophysiology behind Autoresuscitation? Declare that there is no god or move on to another medical "mystery"?

Attempt to give a name to Medical mystery is nothing new. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy when it was initially being studied was thought to happen only to boxers so it was called Dementia Pugilistica but through the good works of Dr. Bennett Omalu, we now know exactly how it happens.
What if Dr. Omalu took the easy way out and said it was god?

Why would I not call it by its given name or should I have constructed a non existent name for it? My calling it by name does not show acknowledgement but it shows reference to another position which wasn't mine. Get it?

Lazarus syndrome is a known entity in medicine which is shrouded in mystery so do not make it sound like its a known entity as a fact of medicine which is empirically verifiable. That would be dishonesty.

Why don't you try this. The next time a person dies on your watch and you try resuscitation and it does not work, do not put down time of death but leave him to experience the Lazarus syndrome since all who came back according to you all had resuscitation attempts first carried out on them.

Try this on 100 dead people under your watch then state your observations. Deal?
Spontaneous remission of cancers is a known entity in medicine, with thousands of occurrences. Theories have been put forward, some more convincing than the others, that doesn't make it any less of a medical entity.

I've never submitted that all patients that had resuscitation attempts will achieve Autoresuscitation.

If a patient dies on my watch, after resuscitation attempts, I'll call it.
If the person regains spontaneous circulation, that's all swell. Just know that I won't call it a miracle though.
