PhonesThe Beauty Of Post Paid Over Pre Paid Services by cecegorz(op): 2:17pm On Jul 13, 2010
I have wondered why is it that people shy away from post paid services even when the advantages far outweigh the pre paid services?
I have been on Post paid since march '08 and it's been awesome. Imagine you never find yourself in a situation of trying to load a card to no end, or getting cut off on a call because of low credit?

Is it just plain ignorance or something else?

Come on guys, which set back are we talking about here?

The man was shown on National TV last night with the PDP national chair, grinning from ear to ear as he welcomed one of the 'founding fathers' back to the big Umbrella.

Both him and the state gov. Theodore Orji had left PPA completely battered.

SportsRe: Does Spain Deserve To Win This World Cup? by cecegorz(m): 3:03pm On Jul 12, 2010
Spain was arguably expected to pick up the Rimet trophy right before the kick off, alongside Brazil, Argentina and England. Those were called the book makers favourites. Germany wasn't even in the mix because captain Ballack was out and the team has a lot of young untesetd talents.

Spain started on the wrong note by losing to an unfancied team from the other end of the earth!
Spain henceforth sarted grinding out wins, albeit without their massive attacking interplay usually championed by the Barca maestros; Xavi/Iniesta. All these combined to make people think that the Iberians might not make it afterall to the finals.

Enter the semi finals fixture of Spain vs Germany. The nay sayers heralded the sinking of the Armada given the massively impressive run of the young german machines. The Spaniards, encouraged by their 2008 Euro finals win against the same opponent, took up the gauntlet and fought for their lives, and for the very first time in the tournament, the German machines could not start, just a moment from an on-fire Villa was all it took to reassure the unbelievers that the Armada is still well afloat and indeed cruising to the finals.

Once in the finals, everybody knew that if there is anywhere the Oranje gang knows to capitulate, its in the very final of world tournaments, as they have previously done in two occassions!

Spain took them on and attacked them with tenacity, inspite of their rough dealings, and Howard Webb's refusal to send some of them back into the dug out early on, finally subdued them with a perfect combination of Barcelona/Arsenal brand of tip tap epitomised in Iniesta/Fabregas. The rest they say, is history.

[Yes they deserve it and they are the WORLD CHAMPIONS! VIVA LA FURIA ROJA

Firstly to my elder brother and 'dad', POLY, for drilling me into the education path, funding same and making sure i master LACOMBE's (do todays' kids still study this?) with cane and plenty of  tears! thus giving me a sure foundation in the science world

To a 'Prophet' who told me as a kid that i am going to be a great man (it stuck in that my young mind) grin  grin  grin

To JAMB for keeping me out of the University for four years till i reached maturity(curious, aight?)

To my Pastor during University days, Mark Chuks for building a sense of purpose in me, and for showing me that if you want to get high, it'd rather be with the 'Most High'

To Quemps who showed me how to click the mouse back in UNI and made me took a turn for a career in IT.

To Mr Majik who funded my first hardware training course and also gave me the fund to personally clone a system and fire up my dreams.( Am still searching for this guy to bless him)

To my sweet heart who like the 'prophet', saw the greatness in me, and accepted my proposal while we were still 'bloody' NYSC members.( now, she's having a ball)

To Bridget who encouraged me to boldly demand from the HR head, as a fresh graduate trainee, the particular department i wanted to work in (even when every other person was just happy for landing the job) and thus fulfilling my career potentials.

To my MUM for continually getting my back when i was growing up ( she's just holidaying with me, enjoying the fruit of her labour)

and,

To the greatest influence of my life, My Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for coming that i might have life, and live in abundance!

@Ajalenkoko,Cecegoz,Salihu, and all of you wonderful guys, thanks for such a very educative and informative thread. I've been going through the thread from the beginning, it took me quite a while to get to this point in the thread. I must confess that I have learnt a lot from all of you.

I am at a crossroad now and I need all your help to make an important decision. I studied EEE in undergrad, then I had interest in the telecoms industry, did some cisco stuffs then, but I developed a passion for programming and I am just about to finish an M.Sc in Software Engineering in one month. Meanwhile, I just got an offer from a major ISP in Nigeria (based on my first degree, they dont know about my M.Sc). The job involves core data networks (mpls, vpns, wimax, etc), which I have a good foundation to thrive in. My dilema is that if I take up the job, I think my Msc in SE might become irrelevant or not related to the type of experience I would get from the job. I really want to be focused but having several unrelated degrees and experience in my CV might not be ok. (my thoughts, I might be wrong). On the other hand, I dont want to go back home and start roaming the streets looking for a job when I am done with my M.Sc as I am supposed to resume the job immediately I finish my masters, although I am looking out for other SE opportunities.

Please friends, I need your advice.

Thanks
I'll advise that you pitch in with the core networks environment. In Nigeria's job space today, nobody cares what you read mostly as a fresher because most folks have piles of degrees and certifications without a day of hands on experience to boot.
I've had some of my superiors head diff. units at diff. times. You will find all your diverse knowldge base come to bear as you move on in the job, but never while you sit at home. Once you get started, you never can tell where you'll end up. The most important thing is to break Inertia.
LiteratureRe: What Kind Of Books Do You Read? by cecegorz(m): 4:25pm On Jul 06, 2010
Meeeeeeeeen!
I've read tons in this my little life and it seems as if i've not even started.

From reading almost all the James Hardley Chase titles in secondary school, i graduated to non-fiction;

Spirituals, Motivationals, Positive Psychology, Autobiography/Biographies.

I've read mostly from these authors

Hardley Chase
Napoleon Hill
David Schwartz
Dale Carnegie
John Maxwell
Jim Ron
Robert Kiyosaki
Jack Welch
Donald Trump
Norman V Pearle

Two titles from these authors; Power of Psitive thinking(pearle) and 7 strategies for wealth and happiness(Ron) made massive impact in my life, infact my life got a real quantum leap after applying those principles they espouse. Thats off course after the master of all books, THE BIBLE!

SportsRe: What's Wrong With All The African Teams? by cecegorz(m): 2:55pm On Jun 21, 2010
AjanleKoko:
Those of you who say our slots should be reduced are just talking smack.

Africa has at least gotten to the World Cup quarters twice, and our teams have gotten to the 2nd round lots of times.
Possibly there is a football slump on the continent. Right now, South America is having a good showing, but cast your mind back to the last three or four editions. Apart from Brazil, how well have the other World Cup Winners, Uruguay and Argentina done?

In the history of the WC, Argentina has won it twice, and shown up once in the final. Asides that, they have never gone beyond the quarters. In 2002, they left in the first round, after beating Nigeria 1-0.
Uruguay is just showing up after 1990, where they also left at the round of 16. Chile in 1998 came to the WC and played three draws to qualify for the round of 16, only to be splattered all over the pitch when they met Brazil.
Mexico? . . . Do I really need to start with those ones? They should just thank God for a pretty bad run from France in the last couple of years.
What about the almighty Spain? As much of a Barca fan I am, I still don't give them a chance.

I think we're a bit hard on ourselves. We have done it before, and we will do it again. The point about coaches is irrelevant in my view. Everywhere in the world, coaches are hired and fired willy-nilly. We'll get it eventually.
Wow! see AJ dey reel out world cup history like a sports journalist.  cheesy  cheesy  cheesy  cheesy

Truth is that African teams relax too easily on games they should wrap up with determined consistency, watch out how they squander a goal lead, a la Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire et al. OR how they become too sissy in front of goals. You don't win a match because you scored first!!! It's a 90mins duel and any lack of concentration for a min can get you prepped up for SUYA!

I also observed in this year's world cup  that the hitherto back-water footballing nations have really caught up with the big boys and it now boils down to who's got the right fire inside, to do the extra. No more sure banker winners!!!

Even the only two teams that had won 2 games in a trot, Argentina and Brazil all had question marks. FIFA declared Argies goal against us wasn't supposed to stand, while Fabiano gifted D Samba boys a 'hand of God' 2nd goal.
I won't be surprised if 2 un fancied teams from either Asia or S. America get to the semis. Africa could have been there, but they lost the drive, sorry mates! lipsrsealed  lipsrsealed  lipsrsealed  lipsrsealed
