How strange is that?
IslamRe: Olu Of Warri's Travails And The Lessons Learnt by ceejayluv(m): 11:56am On Sep 20, 2013
The Olu of Warri messed up by undermining their cultural heritage. A traditional ruler ought to be the custodian of the culture and tradition of his constituents. He should have simply abdicated the throne if he felt negatively about veneration of their deity.
That "Born Again" syndrome at work.

GamingNintendo Visionary Hiroshi Yamauchi Dies Aged 85 by ceejayluv(op): 3:32pm On Sep 19, 2013
Hiroshi Yamauchi, the Japanese
businessman credited with
transforming Nintendo into a world-
leading video games company, has
died aged 85.
Mr Yamauchi ran the firm for 53
years, and was its second-largest
shareholder at the time of his death.
The company confirmed the news in
an emailed statement.
A spokesman said the firm was in
mourning over the "loss of the former
Nintendo president Mr Hiroshi
Yamauchi, who sadly passed away
this morning."
He died of pneumonia at a hospital in
central Japan, the company said,
adding that a funeral will take place
on Sunday.
Mr Yamauchi ran the company from
1949 until 2002.
In that time, he took what was a
small-time collectable trading card
company and built it into one of the
most recognisable - and successful -
video games brands today.

were you vaccinated? I guess yes. How would you feel if your parents had refused to vaccinate you and you ended up physically deformed? I don't think you'd be posting such here.

Konjour: For someone who's not really a business expert like me, its hard to see the rationale behind the Blackberry company licensing its major pulling power to other platforms. It would invariably draw more users in their millions back into the BBM sphere, but it would definitely affect the ever fledgling Blackberry smartphone sales negatively cuz I can't imagine myself still using a dead-pan Blackberry phone with its relatively sluggish and antique OS and processors when there are better phones whose processing speeds, battery life and screen sizes are of behemoth proportions, and to make issues worse, able to connect via BBM. I'd be surprised if the Blackberry company don't stop manufacturing phones altogether soon. They have probably sold out their last bargaining chip.
Actually they're considering spinning off bbm as a separate company. Definitely RIP to blackberry hardware.

dasparrow: @Post

Nigerians, don't sweat it. Listen, America has been my country for the past almost 14 years though I was born in western Europe. Here is what I can tell you: USA is not what it used to be. When I migrated to USA in the late 90s during the Bill Clinton administration, USA was the best place to be. Emphasis on WAS. The American economy was booming, you open the newspapers and there were job listings everywhere. But then came George Bush and then 9/11 happened. After that, America was never the same again. The jobs began to vanish, American manufacturers moved their businesses to Asia to save manufacturing costs, businesses started shutting down, people were being laid off en mass and many Americans lost their homes, cars, etc as a result of the rising levels of unemployment in the country. Those who work for the government had to endure cuts in their salaries as a result of government-mandated budget cuts. The police and the fire department faced budget cuts as well which in turn meant that if you call 911 for help, it takes them longer to get to you. People with advanced university degrees could not find jobs because they are being told that they are over qualified so some people started claiming that they only have an associate degree even if in actuality they have a bachelors degree or a masters degree.

Anyways, to cut a long story short, Nigeria not qualifying for the DV-lottery anymore might actually be a blessing in disguise because right now is not the ideal time to migrate to USA since even those born and bred in USA are having it difficult finding a job. Many of us diasporans are even looking to move back to Africa for good, maybe not to Nigeria but definitely to a FUNCTIONING African country.

Due to the lingering economic recession, Americans often times take out their frustrations on foreigners living in their midst. America - for me anyways - went from being this really great country to live in to being this country that I doubt I want to raise my children in. I know of quite a number of Nigerians who are American citizens but have decided to move back because they were having a very hard time in America.

I am not saying that you should not attempt to search for greener pastures overseas but I truly believe that USA and most parts of the EU and not the places to be right now if you want to hustle or are seeking greener pastures because even their own citizens are not finding things easy at the moment and that is the gospel truth. Migrate legally if the opportunity arises but be wise in your choice of where you want to migrate to. I think Africa as a continent has a lot of potential so once I am done with NYSC real soon, I will explore options within our beautiful continent. Peace!
very objective post you got there. You've migrated and gotten your experience. Anyone that wants to migrate is allowed to attempt too. Experiences differ.
TravelRe: Nigeria Ineligible For US DV-2015 by ceejayluv(m): 9:38am On Sep 16, 2013
Muscomide: I do not doubt that Nigeria is a bundle of anomalies and contradictions. However, no one is going to spoon feed you. We have to seize the bull by the horn. If our so called indigenous engineers prove themselves, they will not be supervised by foreigners in their own country. I continue to maintain that it is our collective duty to develop our own country rather than this foolish urge to travel out. Just the other day, a video was posted of Nigerians perishing in the Sahara whilst trying to emigrate to Europe. Are we so hopeless as a people?
Our population is half of USA's, landmass is 1/10th of USA's,
Population density is 5 times more than USA, hence we're relatively over-populated. If a couple of thousands of people move out,, we still have enough hands in the country- millions of idle youths.
The problem is the induced disorientation. If there's an opportunity to go where your intellect and skills may be appreciated, I believe it's anyone's God-given right to go there. Major historical world events were actualised by migration. If the British and Portuguese decided to stay Home, we may not have been "civilised" by now and they wouldn't have gotten the resources needed to further develop their place. No nation is an island, and definitely not Nigeria that hasn't even started any significant developmental process.
TravelRe: Nigeria Ineligible For US DV-2015 by ceejayluv(m): 8:35am On Sep 16, 2013
Muscomide: Who do you expect to develop Nigeria for you??
I keep hearing that crappy question.
How many engineers have we churned out from our schools? Why is it that we still see minor and major road constructions still being supervised by foreigners after decades of churning out engineers?
We're not given the chance to develop and individual efforts can only scratch the surface if the govt and society at large don't support innovation, research and development. We keep celebrating Nigerians excelling in Harvard et al. but can't provide them with requisite infrastructure to transfer the knowledge down here, and you expect them to return Home?
One dude was condemning Philip Emeagwali for not coming Home to assist. Is any agency here ready to give him hundreds of millions of dollars of funds for his research here? NO, of course. And he's promptly relocated 35 of his family members from this wasteland..

There is nuffin in usa except you don't say the truth. I do my hols yearly in Massachusetts and I tell you people suffer in that place. Lottery my foot. It's just a slavery system that most people shy away from this reality..
Nigerians wake up and stop being third rated citizens in your host countries. Smh.
Believe me, if more Nigerians were comfortable enough to afford vacations in Massachusetts, the desperation won't be so much.

speedyboi: Maybe Government should also make our minimum wage 1,000,000 and impose crazy tax on us, Triple PHCN bills and make sure people pay them (not direct connection guys), triple water bills, impose insurance, medical cards, etc on us, imposing heavy payments for difference kinds of unlawful acts (road offenders, Noisemakers, indiscriminate killing of animals etc...) and so much more!

Ignorance kills....Until you try to live outside Nigeria, You won't know Nigerians are enjoying!

I just laugh when Nigerians claim they pay tax. Try to check out the crazy bills citizens of other countries pay, them you'll know wassup.
Enjoying? When the govt has virtually left everyone on his own. You can't have your cake and ear it. You're enjoying state of the art amenities and infrastructure in say, Amsterdam and you expect it to be free?
Do people there have to dig their boreholes to get water? Do they have to "mobilise" police officers with cash before they can effect arrest and press charges on someone that robbed them?
You think the taxes are for nothing?
Would you rather not pay tax but carry jerrycans of water on your head every morning to fetch water hundreds of meters away?
Ask any Nigerian living in any industrialised nation if he ever had to bribe an officer before his complains were looked into?
We're not paying much taxes, mainly cos an average Nigerian is a tax defaulter, but we're also enjoying zilch benefits of taxation. That's an anachronism in this 21st century.

Stop comparing us with the US. The only good thing they have going is that they have a social security structure, which is totally absent here. Apart from that, nothing!
Yes, minimum wage anywhere is minimum wage, but can you compare the standard of living of a minimum age earner in Nigeria to one in America?.
Believe me, many Nigerians abroad remitting cash for fees and rent for their folks in Nigeria are earning barely above minimum wage there .
Can a minimum wage earner here sponsor anyone in school comfortably?

Nairaland GeneralRe: Today Is Friday The 13th by ceejayluv(m): 12:16pm On Sep 13, 2013
Crap crap... Let's play with numbers a Lil...
There are 12 months a year, 7 days a week . with 1/7 chance that the 13th of any given month will be the Friday, that gives (1/7 x 12) = 1.7 "Friday the 13" days in a year.
So in a year there are max 2 and minimum of 1 of such days.

Now the probability of being born on a Friday the 13th is roughly,
1.7/365 = 0.466%..
With like 7 billion people on earth, it means 32.6 million of them were born on such day worldwide and 745,000 in Nigeria.
Why am I even calculating this?
As I said it's all ClownShit
