Jim Caviezel and the "passion of the Christ" crew got struck twice during the shooting of the crucifixion. And before you attach mysticism to that, bear in mind that it was being shot in a very high hill under very cloudy weather "for realistic effects".

Foreign AffairsObama Seeks $17.7 Billion To Capture Asteroid, Explore Space by ceejayluv(op): 11:49pm On Apr 10, 2013
NASA unveiled a $17.7 billion
spending plan for 2014 today that
continues major ongoing space
exploration projects, while including
funds to kick-start an audacious new
mission to capture a small asteroid
and park it near the moon so
astronauts can explore it by 2025.
The proposed NASA budget is part of
President Barack Obama's 2014
federal budget request and would
restore the U.S. space agency's
funding back near its 2013 levels. The
request is about $50 million less than
NASA's 2013 budget but would
restore deep cuts from sequestration,
leaving the agency with a roughly $1
billion increase from the $16.6 billion
budget actually received for 2013.
NASA's plan to send a robotic
spacecraft to lasso an asteroid and
tow it to the moon is a stand-out item
in the 2014 budget request. The goal
is to capture an asteroid and bring it
closer to Earth so that a manned
mission can explore the space rock by
2025 — a major U.S. spaceflight goal
set by Obama in 2010.
SEE ALSO: NASA's 2014 Budget
Explained in Photos
"We are developing a first-ever
mission to identify, capture and
relocate and asteroid
," NASA chief Charles Bolden said in a
statement. "This mission represents
an unprecedented technological feat
that will lead to new scientific
discoveries and technological
capabilities and help protect our
home planet. This asteroid initiative
brings together the best of NASA’s
science, technology and human
exploration efforts to achieve the
president’s goal of sending humans to
an asteroid by 2025."
How to Catch an Asteroid
NASA's 2014 budget sets aside a $78
million down payment for the
asteroid-capture mission, as well as
additional funds to search for the
candidate space rock for the initial
rendezvous and capture, bringing the
total funding for the project to about
$105 million in 2014.
In all, NASA could spend up to $2.6
billion on the asteroid-capture
mission through 2025, according to a
study conducted by scientists with
Caltech's Keck Institute for Space
Studies in Pasadena last year. That
study reviewed the feasibility of
robotically capturing a 500-ton
asteroid about 23 feet (7 meters) wide
and placing it in orbit near the moon
by 2025.
Bolden said NASA's new mega-rocket,
the Space Launch System, and its
Orion deep-space capsule would be
used for the manned portions of the
asteroid capture mission. The agency
will also "develop new technologies
like solar electric propulsion and laser
communications — all critical
components of deep space
exploration."
The Space Launch System and Orion
capsule are part of NASA's Exploration
Systems division, which is funded at $
2.7 billion in 2014 in the new budget,
down from $3 billion last year.

mecussey: The truth is God is aware of everything and he knows the humans he created is able to live forever if left in the garden of Eden. Ever since he sent man out of the garden, whatever he wants to do, he uses a physical being. Jesus himself had to come in the form of human to make changes. Still, he has promised us eternal life outside the garden, i will not be suprised if he uses a Russian billionaire to achieve it of course he will not use a poor fool. One step he has given us is that we must die before living again and that is the base process. If I should join the scientists, I will concentrate on studying the soul/spirit, this is basically the brain we talk about and its an operating system which is installed inside the brain. I am sure it does not die but can be corrupted or may stop running and another started. If humans will be able to copy it, then it may be possible to install it in another machine. God is the programmer, our flesh and blood is a machine and worth nothing.
Epic!!! That's a befitting summary of the whole endeavour.

I'm all for the unhindered advancement of technology. No sentiments please. The ancient Egyptians tried in their own way to preserve the dead by mummification, so the concept of post-mortem preservation didn't start today. With the aid of contemporary tech including the cloud, human-machine interface, neural networks, fuzzy logic and foresight of Moore's law, the human mind can be mimicked, stored and utilised for the betterment of mankind.
Science/TechnologyRe: Russian Billionaire Plans To immortalize Humans By 2045 by ceejayluv(m): 5:43pm On Apr 07, 2013
Billyonaire: I have always known that the human mind is the ethereal archive server for all knowledge gathered all through our lifetime. The knowledge are transported from brain to mind via the sensors in the brain nerve endings that medical science is yet to explore. If, we can consciously retrieve information from the mind, by recalling events and issues, then we need mind-machine interface where information stored in the mind can be accessed via the computers.

If mind-machine interface is achieved, then one can actually programme and re-programme the minds. One can even mine (or hack into) the minds of Eistein and Tesla and other advanced scientists who passed on.

Come to think of it, what was the intention of building us a perishable body that dies and crowning us with a mind that survives death. Is there a reason the creators of man, wanted us to have a short life span ?

I can only but think that humanity have to take their case into their hands and create a generation of cyborgs that survives eternally.
Never knew you were a fellow tech future pundit like me... Guess I'll forgive you for your tribalist rants.
I've always professed that the next evolution of man shall be induced by mankind itself... got some theory on "homo technologicus" or something like that.... Cyborgs are the way forward.. It's already starting. The Google glass will usher in a world of virtual reality... Microsoft Kinect project is kicking ass on its own. ( they're working on hologram projection by wearing special gadgets on the body- one could attend virtual meetings anywhere in the world by "appearing" via a projector)... There are countless futuristic projects in the conceptual stage now. I laugh at the ignorant yelling of end time. Tech Rocks!!

My questions to fellow naija folks is that why do prefer to suffer abroad than to hustle in Nigeria. Many African countries are envious of our black gift from God. Imagine selling your house to buy visa, travel tickets to abroad to start afresh in the name of various national challenges which great countries have passed through in their nation building.

Foreign AffairsBillionaire Plans Park Of Giant Dinosaurs by ceejayluv(op):
www.news.discovery.com/animals/dinosaurs/billionaire-plans-park-giant-dinosaurs-130330.html

An eccentric Australian mining
magnate who is building a replica of
the ill-fated Titanic has unveiled his
latest scheme -- a park of giant robotic
dinosaurs.
Clive Palmer, who last month in New
York launched an ambitious plan to
build and sail the "Titanic II", said he
had ordered more than 100 life-size
dinosaur robots from China to
populate his north Australian resort.

"We'll have the world's biggest
dinosaur exhibit, with 165
animatronic dinosaurs," Palmer said.
He already has two of the towering
creatures -- named Jeff and Bones --
on display at his Palmer Coolum
Resort on the Sunshine coast north of
Brisbane and boasted that the public
"haven't seen anything yet."
The robots, some of which measure
up to 7 meters tall and weigh in
excess of 1.2 tons, will move their tails
and chests and blink their eyes. They
are expected to arrive by the end of
April.
A larger-than-life character who has
made a fortune in mining, Palmer said
recently that he was funding the
Titanic II because "I want to spend the
money I've got before I die."

Progressive, I'd say.

Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis Urges For Dialogue With Islam by ceejayluv(m): 3:54pm On Mar 24, 2013
peteregwu: pls as a true christian, we dont follow the multitude, we follow the word of God(bible). Romans 3:4 KJV "God forbid: yea, let God (bible)be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged."

now, what is the basis of your point? i base my argument on the word of God, which is the truth and the only truth. just because the billions of people or catholic are having the same belief does not mean they are right. Exodus 23:2 KJV
"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment :"

the bible is what you should use to compare or discern if somebody is standing on the truth. even if my pastor preaches a lie, by the word of God i will quickly discern that his teaching is false. that is why the bible is made available for us all. so that no one will deceieve us in the name of a pastor or pope. dont be deceived my brother. "by their fruits, you shall know them," the bible says. and the same bible says if anyone or angel from heaven preach to us another Jesus or a false gospel of the truth, let him be accursed.

the bible says, that in this end time many will be deceived. that is exactly what is happening many false teachings today. just like the teachings of catholic. praying to mary, use of rosary or chaplets like muslims, worshipping of idols or images.
**yawning** you're just being bigoted... please don't even bring the end time hoax into this... The Catholic church is over a thousand years old and the world hasn't ended. And so what if their rosary prayer is apparently similar to Muslims'?? Every denomination has their modus operandi- you have zero rights to condemn any religion/ denomination on their mode of prayer. You're quoting Bible verses like that's the issue here. Come on!! If you're chatting with a buddhist and quoting the verses then you've got to get your head examined. Be open-minded, that's my opinion.

peteregwu: which one be bull shit now? any cow or ram shit for your house? where bullshit take come from now? who told you that? my friend there are many churches then that you know not of. just because catholic is claiming to be the only church in existence does not mean it is the true church. Jesus says, "i will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail over it." the church is not the building according to the bible, the church is every individual christians following the words of the bible dully. so catholic church na babalawo church...cos they worship idol(images) and the pray with chaplets. Jesus says, "by their fruits you shall know them."
So who are you to determine the "true" church? Oh, cos your "pastor" told you, right?? Are you wiser than a billion Catholic members worldwide??
I'm not a Catholic chauvinist, I'm more of a freethinker but born into a Christian (Catholic) family. I'm all for religious tolerance and avoidance of religious condemnation. All religions started some time and more "religions" (more like philosophies and beliefs) will still spring up. In the next 1000 years or so, it's possible christianity May take a backseat. I call it a religious "darwinism"... That was how christianity and Islam spread- by displacing other religious beliefs by violence or craftiness or influence...
Brother, don't give bigoted arguments. have a broader view and you'll be less venomous in your utterances.
