As an addition, try towns that are less competitive for NHS jobs.

Thanks boss. I've been applying and I won't stop. Thanks anyways

I didn't withdraw my application. HR issued another COS and I submitted a new application without withdrawing the first.

I was asked if I have a pending application, I selected yes and provided the application number for it. Old application was nullified
profemebee:
Oh wow, glad it worked for you

unfortunately, I cant apply for another one because the moment I withdraw my application, i'm illegal because my BRP expired since June 2022.

Please I still need answers to my questions

This can really be frustrating. Mine wasnt a vusa extension but i experiencd delaywhen i switced from T4 to T2 last year.

I saw so many posts in reddits with people in similar situation especially applications (for almost all visa
types. Switch, extension or spousal visa) submitted between Feb and May.

For me, I reapplied for another visa and it was approved two days after submission. The old visa fee was also refund three months after I received visa for the new application.

Although, some people later received visa but I could no longer wait after 7 months...

profemebee:
hi everyone, its been a while..

I need advice on a current situation

I applied for my spousal visa extension (FLR M) in the last week of June 2022 with biometrics done same week, and not gotten concrete response from Home Office since then. It was a standard application as there were no priority options available then, which I think was due to the Ukraine Family Scheme which affected timelines for applications within and outside the UK.

I only received a mail in August 2022 stating it will take longer than expected, and nothing more. There has been no proper way of communicating with anyone in Home Office, as the Home Office designated phone nos is automated, and there is no human interaction available.

I contacted my MP twice in October 2022 & January 2023 explaining the situation and the mental effect the delay has had on my family and I.
Home Office replied to the MP that my application will not be expedited unless I can provide medical evidence, prescriptions or a doctors note that my mental/physical health has declined as a result of the outstanding application (which i couldn't provide).

My passport also expires in October 2023 and i thought by now, I would have gotten my extension and can then face the Nigerian passport renewal hustle.

Questions:

- Is there anyone with similar delay for any applications within the UK? If so, how did you manage to reach Home Office? I was thinking of contacting my MP a 3rd time next week when it will be 9months since I made my application.

- My passport which is to expire in October 2023 has the initial spousal visa on it. Can I renew now even with a pending application? Should I wait?

- I haven't been able to switch jobs because i feel having an expired BRP will be a problem even if I have scale through the interview stages. My current employers have no issue, as they do that right to work check with my application nos. However, I intend to switch jobs as the UK economy dey cost more and more.

Apologies I'm posting here. I didn't post in the FLR M forum because it has been quiet for almost a year.

This whole thing has been annoying, after spending good sum on application fees and biometric appointment to get a good time slot. I can't even travel for personal and work purposes as i'm sure I won't be able to come back in with my expired BRP.

Thanks for anticipated responses.

Yea, that because study visa is valid for 1yr and 4 months.

For Sep program, it ends by another September. Students then get additional 4 months on their visa validity
mayo47:
Not entirely, I have a friend who finished studies last September. Applied for his wife to come and she was granted in October. His student visa expired in January

Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by CheesyTee(f): 9:50am On Mar 09, 2023
Makes sense
NnenaRita:
I think study end date is different from when your visa expires. There is usually an additional 4 months after. So I guess the wife's study end date was May but visa was valid till September.

Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by CheesyTee(f): 6:57pm On Mar 08, 2023
If your wife is the PA and her BRP is set to expire in May, then your visa will be valid till May. Dependent visa tenure ends same date as the primary applicant.

Kindly help clarify.

Hkana:
Wify's BRP was valid till May.
I applied to join her in February, got visa in February that was valid till September; came in March.
We then both applied for PSW together in May when her visa expired.

Don't know if this helps.

You're right. I was unable to find the page that had the information on gov.uk

There is no longer a specific time they can apply to join.
NnenaRita:
Please can you get a link. I have searched thr gov.uk website and I cant find this information.
eniola1010:

Abeg cheesy is this the rule on the uk.gov site? That the dependent must have come in 6months before?

Nice, thanks for your reply

Means for someone whose school is due to end in Jan 2024, best bet would be June/ July 2022 if Im right smiley

Hello my Ogas

Quick question

For dependents, must a dependent enter the UK 6 months before the end of the primary applicant's studies?

What arre the implications if the secondary applicant enters after? I think it has something to do with BRP but i cant seem to remember

Kindly advise

Thank you!

If the primary applicant intends to apply for post-study, the dependent(s) will need to have applied for a visa and enter the Uk 6 months before the end of studies.

Unless they are looking to secure other type of visa...

I didn't quote OP.
rayralph:

The OP is on student visa.

Immigration skills charge doesn’t apply if the company is sponsoring an applicant on tier 4 visa.

brine:

This is incorrect. You pay £536 to get a sponsorship license(small companies) and you can sponsor up to 10 people with it. Bigger companies pay higher but it's still not up to £1500 pounds for the license.

Cost about £5k to sponsor 1 person for 5yrs. No be even license

Iolo:

I believe the additional costs is a main challenge. I hear it costs anywhere from £5k and above in fees.

It's confusing really.

I am trying to pay for my wee ones too and I am still using my maiden name, so we intend to use their dad's card... But this clause tire me too as my husbands not renewing passport as well.

Santa2:
Has anyone renewed Nigerian international passport for just their kid. I renewed my passport last year but now I want to renew for only my child but am a bit confused as the instruction says to use card for some else, one needs to register card. I not seeing an option to register my credit card. There is also a note that states that to qualify to use card payment for family, cardholder must also be an applicant which is not my case . Do I just go ahead and make payment. With this cost of living crises I no wan make payment wey go hang o cheesy

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a washing machine that dries as well, i currently use Indesit but I'm not enjoying it that much. I see bits of threads on hoodies and other fleece wears when washed in it.

Now I need machine that washes and dries, and gentle on fabrics.

NB; I know someone might say it's the setting of my old machine, but I know I've tried several settings but no help.

Hi, please does the bank statement have to be 6 month if I'm sponsoring the trip for a parent?
Peerielass:

I would use both in the letter - grandma is coming for omugwo and will also use the opportunity to spend some time with her sister who has recently lost her hubby. You will need to provide the usual supporting documents i.e banks statements, pay slips, death certificate of her brother in law, mortgage statement for your home, copies of your passport data page and visa/ British passport. If you are renting, rental agreement and letter from your landlord might be beneficial.

What is grandma’s current status? Is she a pensioner? Are you funding the entire trip or is she supposed to contribute towards it? You will need to mention in the letter that you are funding the trip etc. I invited my mum for omugwo many moons ago and as far as I can recall, it was pretty much straightforward. I doubt the process would have changed that much.

Hi there,

I use this App below & passed it for the first attempt easily within 10 minute's in the test centre. You can also Google "lifeintheuktest" 3rd edition it helps a lot as well.

Make sure you study hard for the test & try to memorise the dates of the events that occur in Britain as much as you can.
I wish you all the best.

Here are the list of people that UK mentioned can earn below minimum wage but the proposed amount is way too low as most pointed out. https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage/who-gets-the-minimum-wage

geekseventplace:

I dont know where you driving at. I know people who have operated this for the past 10yrs. They usually get an employment solicitor to draft the agreement required. Its more or less like an Au-pair program which allows people legally earn below minimum wage. I would have posted the link but i dont want nairaland axe grin but below is a snapshot of what the average earning of aupairs look like - feel free to verify if you want. There are people who are actually looking for opportunities like this, may seem exploitative on the outside but this is certainly not the intent. Plus i really cannot afford a full time nanny hence i am going for this. THe only reason i am not going via an aupair agencies is because the earliest they say they could get someone was in May but i want someone quicker.

I’m trying to rent a new apartment and part of the requirement is that I fill some forms providing my employer reference, previous landlord references, a guarantor etc etc including allowing the company keysafetv access to my account. Now I don’t have a problem with providing all the details,,,,, but allowing a company have access to my account and that of my guarantor(even though they said it’s “view only” gat all my alarm ringing.

Has anyone gone through this cos I’m already thinking maybe they don’t just want me to have the house. Ps.. I offered to generate the account statements but they refused

Were you the primary applicant or dependent?
mizGene:
I have just applied for a tier 2 update.

For some reason, I didn't get the immigration ID check app invite like before, I had to book a physical appointment...Anyone know why? Or they just figured they are not making money through that?

No appointments available anytime within 3 weeks, the few available appointments were in crazy far places and also not free..so unfair. Why does one need to pay for an appointment slot after paying for visa?? Why not make the free slots available for all?

Also the IHS thing is really annoying. I have switched or updated Visas a couple of times, each time I had some months (3 to 5) leftover but they conveniently forget how to do proper accounting and bring a balance forward.. but if you owe the government one pound of tax or debt, they will come after you even 20years later with a hammer.
Also when you think about it, For those working in exempt organisations...why do they need to pay that IHS in the first place and then come back to claim a refund?? The home office has access to national databases, they have the sponsor licence number and this should be enough to let those ppl off but no, they want them to pay amd probably forget about claiming or if they switch visas in future, they won't meet the 6 months payslip criteria for claims..

I feel exploited sha embarassed embarassed sha especially because I needed this urgently and didn't have a choice and also because I have just haemorrhaged some hard earned cash.. cheesy
All these students and people with families doing PSW and tier 2 processing....I can only imagine what they go through sad
