Did you guys not challenge and send pictures to them? wow

I'm not even worried about the charges.

I'm more concerned about the reference they provided for the prospective landlord. I forwarded the emails we exchanged with the old agency to the landlord and she mentioned the apartment was clean enough but would rather speak directly with the old landlord.

you can file a complain, was your deposit held with a deposit scheme?
Yes, it was and they deducted the £200 charge from the deposit and have the balance sent to us.

My people, please help chook mouth for this matter.

The current place we live in is not suitable for kids. Although the landlord came to fix some of the things we complained about, he only comes when it's almost time for the next rent.

Why not move out you may ask. Especially when we didn't sign a long contract. It's really tough getting a house to rent on the island as most house owners either do short-let (Airbnb mostly) or put the property up for sale.

We have been applying for houses advertised online and have no luck securing one.

We recently found out the reason through this potential landlord the reference provided by the previous house agent. The agency said we left the property dirty and they had to professionally clean it. Even though we cleaned the property ourselves and sent images as proof but they still charged us £200 for cleaning and repainting.

I am so down and don't know what to do cos this place is quite expensive and not suitable at all.

Hello House,
If NHS Tier 2 Staff does 9hours bank shift with the same sponsored employer and did 20hours with agency within the same week, has he violated 20hours rule?

You're allowed additional 20hrs as a skilled worker with another agency or organisation. So no.

Is the £500 worth more than the emotional stress ?

Well, I wasn’t in a hurry and I didn’t have any additional £500 at that time, plus the cost of relocation and rent in another town. So yes, at the point of application submission…

Lol. Make them hurry with my application. My employer added a clause to my offer (the contract ends on my T4 expiration date ) and I'll need to sense them a work permit to have a permanent position.

I wanted to defer my dissertation, I can't do that for now, as I'm still on a student visa grin

The wait for T2 visa switch outcome from T4 is tiring. This is the 6th week and I hope I get approval by May 13.

To dash the £500 for priority too much.

I read what you shared. Congratulations smiley I’m fascinated by where your job will be located. Sounds like a different magical world. Please keep us posted as to how your experience is generally. All the best.

I particularly came back to give feedback as you requested.

We have spent a month here and it has been wonderful. People here are nice and it warms my heart. One thing I found beautiful is their level of trust.

I bought something online and this person offered to drop them off and then texted me his account deets afterwards. I was like, you trust me?

All the free items we got online too were delivered for free.

They are always quick to help out and everyone seems to know each other here.

One more thing, their English here is super clear. Like no funny accent or any slang like Glasgowians.

Also, they pronounce our names right without biting their tongues.

E be like make I dash them money

The teachers pronounce my kids' names well and I just wanna spray them money grin

As for work, it's been great so far. We are all enjoying it here.

Please people that have undergone NHS interview please drop some of the scenario questions you were asked.

They ask you to tell them about yourself
Why did you apply for the position and the skills you will be bringing to the team (this is where I would insert NHS values as part of my skills as not all of them will ask you directly).
They ask you how you have handled a difficult situation
They will also ask you to mention what you did when you made a mistake (this is tricky as I don't ever admit to making mistakes in my field. Odikwa risky. I let them know one of my skills is paying keen attention to details and asking questions when not clear, probing further to avoid misconstruing words or misinterpretations a situation. Then I consult senior colleague when I'm lost).
Give an example of you being a team player
A situation where you had to use initiative.
Question on confidentiality.
For care jobs, they ask you of safety procedures and what to do when fire alarm sounds (most often other don’t ask about fire alarm procedures).
They may also ask what you do to know care plan for service users
Importance of record taking

Always go through the attached documents for the job you are applying for.

The job description, individual requirements like skills you require for the position.

Also, try answering questions using the acronym STAR!

It is a four-step technique for answering questions about past behaviors at work:

1. Situation: Describe the situation or set the scene.
2. Task: Describe the issue or problem you were confronted with.
3. Action: Describe the action you took to intervene in the situation or solve the problem.
4. Results: the outcome

They will ask how the de-stress and what difficulties you have faced in a role plus how you handled it.

What working with other people is like.

Your strengths and weaknesses.

Personal opinion: When I interviewed (at least the ones I got offers for) after they ask me to introduce myself, I go don talk and answer like 4 - 5 of the questions they have for me already. So if your interview is meant to last 30 min and you finish in like 10-15min (knowing well you sold yourself), rest assured you did well. But if E drag reach 30 min, then the interviewers are likely giving you enough chance to answer the interview questions well to be considered for the position.

The United Kingdom Embassy in Nigeria has announced the temporary suspension of study, work and family visa applications.

It explained this was because the priority has been placed on applications made under the Ukraine Family Scheme.

In a statement posted on the official Twitter page of the United Kingdom Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday, the embassy announced that Ukraine Family Scheme was launched in response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the invasion of Ukraine.

“As a result, UKVI has temporarily suspended priority and super-priority services for new study, work, and family applications. Customers with standard applications in study, work, and family routes may experience some delays in the processing of their application.

“We are still currently unable to offer PV for visitor applications in Nigeria. Standard visitor visa applications are currently taking an average of six weeks to process.

“Applicants will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre (VAC) when their passport is ready for collection. They should not attend the VAC until they have been invited to do so.

“Where there are extremely compassionate or compelling circumstances (for example, a medical emergency), UKVI may consider expediting specific cases. However, the bar for this is high and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

“If a request is exceptionally urgent, applicants can contact UK Visas and Immigration for help. Please note that this is a chargeable service for overseas customers. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

They did not stop study and work visa application.

Hello ,
Please after my interview I got a mail that I was accepted and that I show reply back if I accept the offer which I did but up till now o have gotten any feedback from them concerning my COS.

They will issue you CoS, don't worry. You still have conditions to fulfil. Like reference, Police checks etc right? Once you do that, you get your COS.

Hello UK elders,
Please I need your input. I suppose to post on student visa thread but I believe there are more experienced UK people here.
I got an offer for "MSc Psychology" and "MSc psychological wellbeing and mental health" , which one of the two can I go for that I can easily get job..
Thank you

As a psychologist, I will suggest MSc. psychological well-being and mental health as this put you at a minimum of band 6 position as a CBT therapist or psychological therapist.

With MSc. psychology, you will require specialisation and getting higher pay, a doctorate is required. This degree can get you assistant psychology position of band 4 or 5.

However, some CBT position also request for MSc psychology degree but not all.

Thank you for your response.
Please what if your employer is not ready to issue CoS, can I replace it with proof of funds and like how much am I look at?
got an offer from NHS but they are not talking about CoS.

If you received offer and you're outside Nigeria, don't worry, they will issue you Confirmation of Sponsorship.

It may take 2-3 weeks after you receive conditional offer.

And no, you can't replace POF with COS. POF is proof of fund (money you have to support yourself) while COS is confirmation of sponsorship meaning the employer is sponsoring you to UK and sponsorship doesn't mean money.

When you eventually settle down and have a permanent address in Lewis, you should sign up for Loganair’s islander discount. This is available to all islanders and offers them subsidised flights to the mainland. I think the ferry companies also have a similar discount scheme available to islanders.

The maximum amount allowable (tax free) by HMRC is £8,000 however this does not mean that you will receive the entire amount from your employer. The amount you receive will depend on the qualifying expenses you claim for with the relevant supporting documents. For instance if the cost of hiring a moving van is £3,000, your employer will only reimburse £3,000 when you present the receipt. They are not going to dash you £8,000 for jolly cheesy

Also check the policy of your employer as some employers may require you to repay the money if you leave the company or trust within a certain time.

Yeah. I understand.

This would have been helpful to be reimbursed. Flight and accommodation especially. Considering I’m taking the kids.

I’ve spent about £2000 already.
