@heykims is right. The vaccine is meant to prevent HPV acquisition and so best taken before sexual debut. It is recommended for girls as young as 9 years and those up to 21 years who are not sexually active and also for boys of the same age but can also be taken by those who are sexually active but HPV negative. It is also important to point out here that condom is not 100% effective against HPV. People should also be aware that HPV infection in the mouth is also very possible for those engaged in oral s3x. Two vaccines are available and they are very effective and I think the policy makers in health should see the need to make this part of the routine immunization so that we can bid cervical cancer farewell. |
Chaiii.... this is called finishing!! |
Pls Op don't try that concoction... I'm sure the bleeding has stopped. I also think you should ALWAYS consult a doctor instead of embarking on self medication. Cheers!! |
Just thinking about the FATE of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 5 (Gender equality and women empowerment)...... |
makazona:I think some things don't add up in this scan report. The uterus cannot be normal (according to the report) and still contain endometrial cavity echo, unless if they meant normal in size. Again inflammation of the uterine cavity is not the same as Uteritis (which is inflammation of the whole uterus), so I think the scan was done in a wrong place by a wrong person. Then for your cousin, if you people decided to see a gynaecologist, you should also be patient with them to make the correct diagnosis. So I advise you people should be patient and get the best care, best of luck |
Op, it's obvious that your friend had an UNSAFE ABORTION....because for someone to give her ANTIMALARIA INJECTION for obvious POST-ABORTAL SEPSIS tells a lot. SEPSIS (INFECTION) after abortion is a KILLER. Hence if you still love your girl and your life hurry NOW and take her to a good hospital, otherwise, you will not like the end of the story because it will SURELY end up in her death (God forbid you will say...) Do the NEEDFUL!!! |
jossymife:Congrats Bro, to your wife and the baby, women are special creatures.... kudos to them!!! Bros I also do hope that the doctors that delivered your baby told you that subsequent deliveries will be safer by caesarean section, but in case they didn't, please don't allow your wife to enter into labour in subsequent pregnancies. it is safer for her to deliver by CS because of the increased risk of bleeding. Some have had successful vaginal deliveries after 2 and 3 previous CS (I have witnessed these) but no one knows who will have issues. Again congratulations!! |

SURGERY without ANATOMY is QUACKERY!! |
whyx06:It is not normal for a girl at 21 not to have started menstruating (primary amenorrhoea). I assume from your post that she has this feminine look with well developed mammary glands, if my assumption is correct then she doesn't have any hormonal imbalance issues. From the scan she has a small womb ( ) and the doctor had to do surgery to enlarge the womb rather strange!!!! That person is probably not a doctor unless if you did not understand what he did or told you.Small or absent womb could mean a developmental (anatomical) problem and there are associations to that. If she experiences monthly (cyclical) waist pains and/or lower abdominal swelling then she is probably menstruating only that there is outflow tract obstruction (hidden menses a.k.a. cryptomenorrhoea). @Yabaleftist, Nigeria has a lot of qualified Gynaecologists for your information. @Op pls don't call or WhatsApp any number they are after your money. My advice: You people should visit a nearby teaching hospital, be patient with the doctors and be ready to accept the verdict of their findings, above all, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!! Cheers!!! |
I'm just being curious. The baby weighed 4kg, may be they had a weighing scale at home. A 19year old carrying a 4kg baby may be possible if she is obese and had been having antepartum hemorrhage (bleeding while pregnant) thinking it could be her period. That she had a precipitate labour (....before they knew it they saw the sign of baby's head coming) is a sign of an impending danger, she may be at risk of tear, more bleeding, and so needs further review in a hospital. Thank God for the miracle. |
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, has condemned the spate of strikes in the health sector, describing it as inimical to the oath of medical profession. Ngige said this at the opening of this year’s Annual General Meeting and scientific session of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), FCT Chapter, on Tuesday in Abuja. Making reference to the medical doctors, Ngige said incessant strike was against the oath they swore to when they were inducted into the profession. He added that the past government did not do well with regards to meeting agreements on remuneration, welfare, among others, in the profession. He, however, said that there should be room for bargaining rather than endangering the lives of patients. He then urged the NMA to look for a better way of resolving the lingering crisis in the sector so as to reduce the rate of strikes. The minister said that in most cases, it was the patients that suffer the consequences and appealed to them to make the health of patients as their priority as enshrined in the oath of secrecy. Ngige quoted some portion of the oath to remind the doctors which says “my patient will be my first consideration. “I will not permit consideration of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political, race, sexual orientation or social standing to intervene between my duty and my patient.’’ The minister explained that “taking into consideration these provisions, you are not supposed to proceed on strike as a medical professional in any circumstance.’’ Responding, Dr Zara Mairami, the Chairman, FCT NMA, attributed the bane of poor healthcare facilities, the lack of universal health coverage, among others, to medical tourism outside the country. Mairami explained that by right, every Nigerian was supposed to have access to quality healthcare services at an affordable rate, adding, however, that “the reverse was the case.’’ Making reference to the theme of the event “Universal Health Coverage: An Enduring Concept’’, she explained that if there was no universal health coverage for everyone, there was virtually no way every common man could access healthcare. According to her, healthcare must be accessible by all, especially the poor in rural areas who could not afford it. She said “if healthcare is accessible, the issue of medical tourism will be highly reduced. “If we have the kind of facilities which other countries have, and have the requisite manpower that can boast of adequate welfare and job security, people will stay back home and access healthcare because they are sure to get the best. “We all will then be sure of universal health if our hospitals are improved and everything is of best practice.’’ http://www.medicalworldnigeria.com/2016/07/doctors-are-not-to-go-on-strike-in-any-circumstance-ndash-ngige |

YOUNGSTUNNA:Just check your height in metres then you can be told whether your weight is normal or not. you can do it yourself. When you get your height, square it and keep the result. Then divide your weight (72kg) by the square of your height (in metres squared). Whatever you get is your BMI i.e body mass index. The values are: less than 18.5kg/m squared..... underweight 18.5 - 24.9......... normal weight 25 -29.9..............over weight 30 and above. ...... obesity I wish you well |
What's your height? |
It is one way to make sure you do not misplace your mobile phone. Doctors were amazed to find the gadget wedged in the stomach of a 29-year-old Irish prisoner admitted to hospital after vomiting for four hours and complaining of stomach pains. After attempting to extract the device using endoscopic tools inserted through his throat under general anaesthetic , surgeons were forced to carry out major surgery to remove the phone. The team at Department of Surgery, The Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin, said they had hoped the phone would be passed by the body. But after eighteen hours. X-rays showed that the phone was not budging. At first they tried to perform an endoscopic removal, whereby a small claw like instrument, attached to a camera is inserted into the throat to try and grasp the foreign object. The devices are usually used to extract coins, keys, magnets and batteries which have been swallowed. But the surgeons struggled with the alignment and were worried they might tear the lining of the oesophagus when bringing the phone out. “Following failed attempts at endoscopic removal, using endoscopic snares, graspers, tripod forceps and baskets, the endoscopic approach was abandoned,” said surgeon Obinna Obinwa, writing in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. “The mobile phone could not be aligned correctly to allow for a safe retrieval while limiting the potential harm to the oesophagus.” The mini- mobile phone, a Long-CZ, is the world’s smallest at just 2.3 inches long, and less than an inch wide. it was removed via an instertion into the top of the stomach, known as a an upper midline laparotomy. The phone was delivered at the back of the stomach to make sure there was no chance of damaging the opening to the bowel. “An ingested mobile phone in the stomach may not be amenable for safe removal using the current endoscopic retrieval devices,” the authors conclude. “Therefore we recommend that all patients undergoing endoscopic removal of a mobile phone should be consented for a laparotomy.” The patient received counselling and was released from hospital after seven days. In August 2013, it was reported that a 19-year-old Brazilian Adriana Andrade swallowed her phone because she was worried her boyfriend would read text messages from another man. Nero, a Doberman-Great Dane crossbreed from Pretoria, South Africa, also needed an operation after swallowing his owner’s Nokia mobile phone. And Gena, a 14-year-old crocodile at an aquarium in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk, was discovered to have eaten a visitor’s mobile. Staff were only alerted after the animal started ringing. http://www.medicalworldnigeria.com/2016/07/doctors-find-mobile-phone-in-stomach-of-vomiting-man |

Erudite Scholar and Deputy Chairman, 2014 National Conference, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has stated that members of the confab didn’t get N7million each, contrary to the position of the Secretary General of the Federation (SGF), Engineer Babachir Lawal, in a recent interview. Prof Akinyemi, in a statement personally signed by him, expressed dismay at the choice of words, which he said Lawal used in a recent interview published in several national newspapers where he referred to delegates that attended the confab as “boys”. Professor Akinyemi described the “intemperate language” of Lawal as “crude, rude, offensive and unbecoming of the high office of state he occupies.” Professor Akinyemi stated that among the delegates the SGF referred to as boys were “the Emir of Ilorin, the Lamido of Adamawa, King Alfred Diete Spiff, the Gbong Gwom of Jos, Emir of Yauri, Emir of Dutse, Emir of Askira and the Amanyanabo of Nembe. “Various judges of the High Courts, delegates included a former Chief of Defence Staff, a former Chief of Air Staff, three former foreign ministers, a former Inspector General of Police, two former senate presidents, a former SGF, several former ministers, several SANs, several former governors, professors... Presiding was a former Chief Justice of Nigeria and a former Minister of External Affairs." He added, "My own upbringing and diplomatic and scholar’s disposition will not allow me to yield to the temptation to call Engr Lawal by the name his own choice of words has reduced him to." Continuing, Prof. Akinyemi said most of the delegates there were people who had paid their dues; served this country in high and exalted positions, risked their lives in the civil war and other domestic insurrections and showed exceptional excellence in the performance of their duties, obviously more excellence than Engr Lawal had demonstrated in his one year in office." Professor Akinyemi, however, called out the SGF to get his facts right in response to the SGF’s comment in the published interview where he (SGF) said “... everybody in the committee got N7 million.” “Come on Mr SGF. You have been in the office that funded the conference and you have been there for over a year, and all you need to do is to send for the files to know that what members were paid is much less than N7 million per head. You do not have to depend on rumours or ‘dem say.' “Frankly, I will not plead for the report of the conference to be considered by your government. Governments come and governments go. The problems will remain. We will all be judged by whether we were part of the solution or part of the problems,” said Akinyemi. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/akinyemi-slams-sgf-describing-confab-delegates-boys/ |
lexyclasy:It's really unfortunate to say the least. What is surprising is the fact that all the FEC and NASS members from the affected states have been infected by the spirit of mutism. |
Transparency International!!! |
ajuwarhodes:Yea you may have a point there, ....the barrage of tests, the different appointments, the long waitings and all that; all these of course make going to the teaching hospitals boring to say the truth. But come to think of it this way, a teaching hospital is supposed to be a place where complex and complicated cases are handled, which requires making the right diagnosis before treatment, and these may take sometime (except in emergencies where immediate resuscitation is the norm), hence calls for patience. Cases like uncomplicated malaria are ideally meant for primary health centres and smaller clinics but the THs find themselves treating headaches, malaria etc, and here cases are prioritized (triaged) and do you know the implication, most of the patients will then feel they are being neglected, na na na, it's not like that. I don't doubt the fact that there are staff with unruly behaviours in our THs, but you know the saying when a finger touches oil it soils the rest. Our people should also learn to visit nearby clinics with minor ailments instead of thronging the THs. Lastly, haven sought for help in other places, I"m sure you'll agree with me that the OP needs a visit to UNTH. Cheers!!!! |
None qualified to be an Ambassador? This must be a joke!! ....and some states were over qualified to merit double ambassadorial nominees....smh for this APC government! |
chammy4real:Stop seeing him in his private clinic, go to Lagos University Teaching Hospital as I had earlier advised There you will have the opportunity if seeing different Specialist Gynecologists who will put heads together so that your problem is solved. By God's grace you'll be OK |
Hi Op, menses happening once in six months is certainly not good and there could be a reason(s) for that. You need a specialist assessment and subsequent treatment, it can be taken care of depending on the cause. I advise you go to a teaching hospital where you will be referred to see a gynaecologist and I think your problem will be solved. Meanwhile don't mind all those dropping their numbers, don't go for any native/herbal medication they will only worsen your condition and even create more wahala for you. I wish you well |
vlco:You can get the help you need in LUTH. Best wishes |
vlco:You're welcome. I don't think the doctor ignored discussing the result of the ECG just because you did it elsewhere, no! No good doctor does that. Again to be frank with you, it is not every doctor that can interpret the ECG correctly (depending on who you met). It is just like CTG (cardiotocograph), not every doctor can read and interpret it. The doctor should have sought for help instead of leaving you to your fate or he should have referred you to another hospital where he thinks you might get a better care. My advice to you is if your symptoms continue (which I think is related to the cardiovascular system), please do yourself a favour by visiting a better hospital where you can be checked thoroughly. I wish you well. |
Go and see the doctor that sent you for the test. Again ECG is best reviewed immediately after the procedure so it's better you do a repeat the very day you want to see your doctor. Meanwhile doctors don't treat by correspondences, they see physical patients and treat subsequently as may be necessary. I wish you well. |
