very silly thing to do !

what if that legal document (affidavit) is used against you by the Canadian authorities in future as an excuse to refuse any future applications made within Canada? undecided

Mpeace:
I am selling my FBNH today. I mean all of it. I will re enter after q4 2017result is out. I just saw something now that is not too encouraging dividend wise.
Out of their q3 PAT of 45.8 billion, their Commercial Banking arm contributed 37.3billion, while others brought in 8.5 billion. If the new CBN rule should be applied here then the commercial banking arm will not contribute to dividend. In the long run, I dont see them paying more than 30kobo as dividend although PAT will increase very significantly.
Disclaimer: I am not an insider neither am I close to anyone that is close to anyone that knows an insider.

Stanbic's dividend wasn't encouraging compared to their share price. Yet, the market seemed to react positively and its almost 50 naira (50k dividend). Why will FBN be different?
Politics / Re: Who Is The Cause Of This Fuel Price Hike In Nigeria This Yuletide? by chemali: 3:25pm On Dec 22, 2017
It’s disappointing that we are back to square on one the fuel issue.

I believe it’s a myriad of factors and increasing supply may not necessarily end it.

1. The no subsidy policy made NNPC the sole supplier of fuel. I believe there was a supply gap due to the rise in crude oil prices that prevented NNPC from meeting demand.

2. Price fixing on the part of NNPC. It is said that the price of fuel in neighboring countries is >300 naira per litre. NNPC supplies fuel to marketers @ <160 naira and this same fuel is sold across the border for 300 naira

3. Greed of Nigerians. Marketers are hoarding and diverting fuel supply to maximize profit.

Except there is a full scale devaluation or the re-introduction of subsidies to allow other companies import refined fuel, I doubt if there will be a lasting solution to the fuel crisis.

Dreams come true. Politics is the art of the possible. In 2023, it will be the turn of the Igbos to produce the President of Nigeria. Igbos cannot be left out after others have done the same.

Errr, has the North Central produced a president? Has the North East produced a President since 1999? Are they crying wolf? Is the NE (Atiku) not planning to contest against the NW (Buhari) in 2019? Yet they have more states than the SE. Nobody is going to hand igbos the presidency on a platter. 2023 can be a contest between SW, SE and SS. Whoever wins, so be it. Nothing like Igbo 2023
Politics / Re: Igbo Presidency 2023: Atiku "Planning One Term Presidency" by chemali: 7:51am On Nov 30, 2017
There is nothing like igbo presidency 2023. It’s North - South rotation and not by geopolitical regions. The presidency in 2023 is fair game for all regions in the South.

Biafra has now being replaced with Igbo 2023. I call it DREAMS

Another igbo man promising the igbo 2023 while using Buhari's name. Whether the Igbo support Buhari or not, the South will produce the next president! Not the SE!!!!

The Igbos can never produce a president and the reason is simple. The Igbos are not united and will not rally behind one candidate rather they will all present themselves as candidates. Look at small Senate Presidency they gave them, we had almost 4 senate presidents because they kept impeaching themselves.

Secondly believe Buhari at your own peril. This is a man who in his first term did nothing for the Igbos but now is coming to beg for votes and promising an Igbo presidency. Is the presidential slot his to give? I really do not understand Nigerian politics! So if APC fields an Igbo candidate and another party fields a Northern candidate and that other party wins, what happens?

@ your second point, Buhari has not promised the Igbo presidency. It's the Igbo promising the Igbo presidency if they vote Buhari. I call it a waste of time!

After Obasanjo ruling for solid eight years and still trying to steal another through 3rd term, and still Osibanjo in vice presidency for four or possibly eight years and still not enough for South West ba?...
If that is not greed tell me what to call it?

This is why I support an Arm struggle/Power agitation in South East, OPC did it for West, NIGER DELTA MILITANTS did it for South, and BOKO HARAM did it for Buhari and North ,we can't be left out.

Somebody's plan is to turn south east from majority group to a minority gruop ,it won't happen my lifetime!

Who is your candidate?

You can't threaten any region to vote your candidate. Politics is a game of numbers. If you can't play it, sit and watch. Threats will never work!

If Ibo politicians know what is good in their interest.

They should support Buhari with a precondition that Ibo will produce President in 2023.

Any other northerner now will want to spend another 8 years.

No one in his right mind would give that guarantee. Besides, Buhari won without the Igbos in 2015. He can replicate it. I’m all for continuity - Osinbajo 2023. He would be better off giving the yorubas that precondition even though they don’t hate him like the igbos

The AGF either doesn't know what he's doing or he's lying or the office of the AGF is incompetent.
Looking at this headline: https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/07/04/finally-nassembly-receives-2015-audited-report-of-mdas/

The 2015 report was submitted in July 2017. Almost 2 years after the year end. The TSA was implemented in 2015. How was the 2015 audit concluded without a review of the accounts that hold government balances?

All those vices you named are not in the same pot with refining of crude. The technological ingenuity of this refiners could have been harnessed and encouraged to drive a revolution in Nigeria.

Most big corporations you know today started as small scale refining operations. Read up on standard oil which is the parent company of Exxon and chevron.

Even the us government sometimes convert criminal elements into government assets. Eg hackers

It's only in Nigeria that this destroy local content promote foreign content makes waves.

When most Chinese companies started, they were producing substandard products. The government stepped in and provided a platform for improvement. That's what I'm advocating for

This they are thieves mentality isn't good for our economy

There's no ingenuity in refining crude. It's chemistry that we were all thought in secondary school. The difference here is they waste most of the crude just to get few byproducts like diesel. The waste is now used to pollute the environment.
Let's get our mindset right.
Politics / Re: JTF Destroys 3 Illegal Refineries In Niger Delta by chemali: 9:35am On Feb 26, 2017

Why can't the government regulate and standardize this so called illegal refineries? Provide cheap quota crude to registered local refiners small scale and tax them. This catch and destroy tactics is as useless as the country

The only reason they are profitable is because they get the crude oil for free illegally. Refineries are low margin businesses and thrive on volumes. Legalizing these illegal refineries is not a reasonable idea. If the illegal refiners pay market price for the crude they refine, they won't be profitable. I support the efforts to destroy all bunkering sites and chase the bunkerers away.

Also consider the cost for safe operations? This costs money and the business won't be profitable.

This is irresponsible journalism. CBN released a circular specifying collection from current accounts. Any collection outside current accounts should be deemed illegal and clarifications sought from CBN. CBN did not release any circular extending this to savings account. Banks doing so are being ridiculous. The bank accounts I operate have not being charged stamp duty

The CBN governor needs to go. He's not inspiring any form of confidence in Nigeria's prospects. His management of the FX issue is appalling. The tough question is how can Buhari sack him? Especially with a combative National Assembly

Using 305 as fx rate is not such a good idea. I think they should have based their fx rate on a more realistic figure .

Fixing FX rates is a bad idea. However, it's a budget. Assumptions can change. A realistic figure of 400 would have been a better signal. However, there will be a lot of unanswered questions. I don't believe the fuel price issue has been sorted. Would you be willing to pay 200 naira per litre at the pumps? Should fuel subsidy return fully? Would there be political/economic stability in Nigeria to push the growth agenda in case of price increases resulting from further devaluation?
2016 budget was planned on 190 ngn to a dollar. We are ending it with 305.
Politics / Re: Buhari To Inaugurate Onnoghen As Acting CJN Today by chemali: 8:26am On Nov 10, 2016
Buhari should thoroughly investigate the CJN before appointment. Once confirmed, it's almost an impossible task to let him go and he would be there till 2020. We are partially paying for the appointment of Emefiele whom Buhari cannot easily let go. North or South, the CJN tribe doesn't matter. What matters is his stand on matters of the law and his personal integrity. How does a Northern CJN change anything? Or a southern CJN?
