SportsRe: Mikel Obi Almost Fainted -emenalo by chidichris(m): 6:00pm On Apr 02, 2009
eldee,

are you minding that IDIOT called chidichris. Etoo paid his teammates match bonuses as an incentive to beat Cote D Ivore , George Weah sponsored his national team for years, Kanu has a heart foundation where he gives back to the people in his country.

Yet the gay called chidichris is expecting Nigeria to do the laundry for injured players? even carry them on our back.

What did Cameroun do for Etoo, Liberia for Weah and Nigeria for Kanu.

Are u still wondering why there 3 are the most decorated players in Africa? but nincompoops like his Idol Mikel wants Nigeria to wash his underwears just because Naija invited him to play.
dayokanu,
kanu, eto, weah, where is ur name?
you sound like a disable person, are u?
pls remember that if u are not a disable person, u can as well do what they are doing.
in what ways are u helping nigeria that qualifies u to persecute those who u think are not doing enough?
do u think other footballers do not have charity organizations?
u have resorted to talking without thinking about what you as a person can do for nigeria.
is mikel using ur brains, hands and legs? mikel has his contributions and u have urs so u can as well lecture us on what u are doing for nigeria.
patrotism, who is qualified to be patrotic to nigeria? only mikel and footballer or all nigerians? u better clean ur eyes b4 cleaning other people's eyes.

we are off topic here:Mikel Snubs Eagles Again Due To Sore Throat!
Point is, he didnt. Therefore this thread is misleading and untrue.

PS:
Accepted, he has not been playing well for the national team (since his heriocs with the u-20 guys) but same goes to the entire squad.

why pick on just one person? is he the coach?

if you guys feel Mikel is the problem, then Amodu needs to be castrated. He does the team selection. Why did he field a player that "cannot" play?

Who was that, that said Mikel does not play to instructions? That is fallacy.
FBS,
thank u.

Dayokanu is a novice in football?

All the intelligence you have in you is less than that of a baby lizard. I can school your whole clan football. What do you know about soccer anyway?

So fellating on Mikel makes you a soccer buff?

Bring your football knowledge to the fore. Infact your whole life. Its just a pathetic excuse to consume oxygen that some other animals would have used to do better things.

People in the US should not discuss soccer because they cant watch it? Gah lee!!!!!!
I have never seen any person more senseless. Even in Afghanistan people follow soccer. Did you finish nursery sch? Cos my 5 year old niece knows that people watch soccer anywhere in the world. In this age of internet and someone is saying people in a particular country shouldnt discuss soccer? Is that not moronic?

So who play in and watch the MLS? If soccer is not followed in the US?

Replica of a Tasmanian devil roaming the oceanic forest!!!
Dayokanu,
u sound like a have hot temper. assuming u are working in a mogue in the usa which is a good job overther, how do u relate that with soccer.
america(usa) for sure is soccer disadvantaged society and in the whole world they are known with bsketball, true or false? even beckham who came to bring enlightenment of soccer to u guys has left. even as you are talking, u don't know the name of the captain of that ur country.
in soccer, we have what we call footballing nations eg brazil, argentina, nigeria, cameroun, germany. when ever u mention these countries, such names as pele, maradona, yekini, etoo, klinsman etc come to mind.
ok, since u claim to know soccer, how come u don't know that the coach has power to leave mikel on the bench or not even invite him at all? do u know that a coach can still tell u that mikel is the best player in the world even when u as a mortuary attendant does not see anything in him?
american sports have such names as jordan, bryant, oneal, tiger woods, williams sisters, phelps etc and non of them is a footballer. by the way, do u know that american female soccer team are very much doing well more than their male counterparts?
dayokanu, the way u know how to threat dead people is the way most of us know football. we are born and brought up in football. football is part of our lives so pls give that to us so that on the day of the mogues, we will say all hail dayokanu.
what i expect from u is some investigative questions at least to bring u up to a levelbecause having interest is one thing and living in a conducive environment is another thing.
if u want to know if am real or not, trace all basketball topics here and see if i have made any contribution at all.

Maybe when u write properly we would understand better the message you are propagating

DUMBO !
u can as well stop smoking for a better understanding.

men fight and women discuss.
mikel had done his thing in maputo and collect his funds while lazy ganja smokers are here and there dying without prize.
the next news we will hear will be that ur master is accused of stealing spoon and he will shamelessly come out to claim 1 billion for compensation.
SportsRe: Mikel Obi Is Not A Super Eagle And Using Him Will Ruin Us by chidichris(m): 5:15pm On Apr 02, 2009
my brother, you did not direct the questions at me but I can tell you that
I have not seen any good in Mikel since after the under20 world cup that Siasia took him.
Mikel has simply lost his football identity. Can you imagine what Lionel Messi is doing?
who will ever imagine that Mikel was ever nominated as the 2nd best player of a world cup
tournament just behind Messi. Some of us even argued then that it was an unfair decision that Mikel should have won the best player award.
Now look at the same Mikel, A very confused footballer in my opinion. Highly under utilized potential dey worry am now.

And before you start to attack me, I am a Chelsea fan, and I've been supporting the club since the
era of Zola, Desaile, babayaro down to the present generation.
Deb,
you have just said ur mind so attacking u or not does not matter. i hope you read the thread and u understand the topic of this thread.
my concern is that these same people who believe that mikel will ruin nigeria are still the same people who complain whenever mikel did not honour invitation.
if actually mikel is the problem of nigerian football, what do u think is the solution? amodu has the power not to invite mikel and that will end the problem so that nigerian football will progress in the interest of all.

Well said deb.

In my opinion, Mikel's path to destruction started when for some strange reason/s he chose Chelsea over Man U after “allegedly” signing a contract for Man U. However that is history. We all know the imbroglio that ensued which was shameful; court case, him not playing for nearly a year etc. I suspect money, John Shittu's influence/greed and poor advice to Mikel were pivotal to his decision.

I strongly believe that if he had chosen Man U, Sir Alex would have allowed him continue his development on his righteous path as an attacking midfielder and ultimately replace Paul Scholes. After Man U lost out on Mikel they bought Hargreaves & Andersson afterwards to fill the void but as far as I am concerned they have not lived up to billing and stamped their authority and right to that position for Man U whereas Mikel would have easily excelled there based on his previous pedigree.

Instead Mourihno moulded him into what he wanted; a hard tackler, shield for his defence and a fighter. His footballing characteristics are now; slowing games and passing sideways and backwards. What happened to his pinpoint cross deliveries and passes? What happened to his attacking instincts? What happened to his ability to incessantly move forward, control a game and dictate its pace ? etc.

Almighty God I pray that you provide for Nigerian football another prospect that has HALF of the potential John Mikel Obi had in 2005, and deliver him from likes of John Shittu, Roman Ambramovic and Jose Mourihno instead guide him in the path of Siasias, Wengers, Fergusons, Rijkaards and their likes so that this footballer will develop his game and become a Messiah for Nigerian football.
I need Amen from believers!
Matema,
ignorance most times can be exposed through exhibition of knowledge.
if you know football, by now u shld have heard that morgan the sporting director of lyn oslo who sold mikel illegally to ferguson was sent to jail for forgery in the case of mikel by norwagian police\court.
ferguson was into slavery in that matter which made him to buy mikel illegally for 4 million pounds and sold him to chelsea for 16 million pounds. please do discuss issues that you are well informed. how many africans have done well in man u. manucho is their latest aquisition and where is he today? on loan may be you do not know about that. what do u think is responsible for anderson and hargreves not doing well so far? maybe because mourinho and abramovic.
what makes you think mikel would not have been on loan since then? how many players are in man u? how many of them are playing? do u know the profile of nani and anderson before they came to man u? if any living human being need prayers in what he of she is doing today, i don't think is mikel rather u and i because mikel so far has done well for himself.
will it be a good move for mikel to go to man u and wait till paul schools leaves before he will start playing? what happened between david beckham and fergie? what about rud van nesteroy? what of luis saha? is tim haward not the first choice keepper for everton for long? what was the matter with ronaldo's move to real madrid? every player has right to play where ever he chooses to and the luck fergie had over mikel was that mikel is a black otherwise mikel would have gone to claim damages.
matema, i love football and i read a lot about the game. if u want to talk football, be well equiped and not just come out to discuss in ocean of great ignorance.
if you ae having problems locating articles and information as regards football and footballers, feel free, ask and i will be there for you.
if mikel and messi went for 2005 games in holland, what happened to the other players? what of our own wilson oruma? the golden boy\head master of japan 93?
the truth about the matter is that envy and hatreddisplayed by most of us here have only made mikel more popular than he was.
everybody wants to say something about him so he has become too important to be ignored.

like i said, i am an authority in football and i will help you if you really want to grow but envy and sentiment can never allow growth and that is a natural law.

if mikel was sick that he did not play for chelsea against spurs yet he came and played for nigeria, normal people will appreciate him for that but i know ganja has a different way of interpreting things.
for all the ganja guys in the house, i dey salute. my regards to the almighty etim and maradonna una godfathers.

SportsRe: Mikel Obi Is Not A Super Eagle And Using Him Will Ruin Us by chidichris(m): 9:11pm On Apr 01, 2009
@ chidichris

It is still within my capacity as originator of this thread to properly explain the "real" meaning of this topic: Mikel Obi Is Not A Super Eagle And Using Him Will Ruin Us. Or better still I will put it in elementary English for you since that may make us understand each other. I mean Mikel is playing below par in the position he is playing for the National team, therefore it will be in our best interest to either draft him to defensive midfield or bench him.

Now to your questions:

1. Yes an "Etim" or an "Okocha" would have made a difference in that match and most likely won it. If you follow football very well as I suspect you do, you will agree with me that the modern game of football is played in the middle of the pack and the cord (link up)from the midfield to the opponent's 18yard box is the life of the game and has to be controlled if you must win a football match. That is where football is played today! Little wonder wingers of the modern game (no. 7 & 11) 90% of the time drive-in from the wings rather than the orthodox crossing of the ball for a powerful no. 9 to finish as it was in the then days with wingers in the mould of Finidi, Elaho, Amuneke, Babangida et al. Instead it is the fullbacks (no. 2 & 3) that have taken over the role of the wingers and do the crossing when necessary. Back to the point, if there is no "Okocha" or an "Etim" in your team to pilot the midfield with a no. 4 as foil for them, then a football team has a 10% chance of winning games.

2. It is indeed the role of a coach to pick the players, and Amoudu naturally will play Mikel as Nigeria's playmaker because it is assumed that he can. My question is; when last did Mikel play in that position? Amoudu is technically and tactically inept as far as I am concerned. How can he comply with assumption? Just like England continually played Mihael Owen as top striker because on a good day in 2001 in Germany he destroyed the German Machine after his wonder goal against Argentina in France 98. For the records, I NEVER supported Amoudu's return as Eagles coach.

3. I do no know if Mikel was sick as I do not follow Chelski news. I wish him well.

4. Wright-Phillips should naturally have goals-drought in Chelski because Abramovich's billions lured him from a flourishing career with the Sky-Blues or Citizens (Man City). Against his father's wish he went to Chelski to play rugby-like football under Mourinho. The last time I checked he has started scoring for Man City again after doing the right thing by returning.

4. I know Mikel is now renowned for his woeful tackles in England and is always in the news for such and issues with refrees. As for the number of cards, count them and let me know.

5. Messi has always been playing even when Ronaldinho was in Barca.

6. Yes I expected Mikel to have played the number of games he has played for Chelsea this season because he is a good defensive midfielder. I even prefer him to Essien in that position.

7. If Mikel's sickness was the reason for not playing against Spurs, then its just a matter of days for us non-Chelski fans to see that. When do you play Newcastle? Saturday or Sunday?

8. Sam Okwaraji is a National hero and was a great no. 10 nobody has forgotten him just like Cameroun still remembers Mac Vivien-Foe.

On your second post, I do not know your criteria for determining Nigeria's best player and personally will not pick Mikel ahead of 50% of what we manage to call Super Eagles today.

I took a picture with him, a co-player and his coach 4yrs ago because it seemed the proper thing to do at that time. I wonder why you are now making an issue of this.

Satisfied with my answers?
maitema,
despite our differences in understanding, i like u at least for having my time to explain things. the truth of the matter is that we may have someother things in our mind while our fingers type differently that is for those who type.
like i said before, all ur explanations are very different from your topic. with my own little understanding of english as a language, ur post is saying that mikel is the problem of nigerian football and continious using of mikel will ruin the country's football  but if inside u that is not what u intended saying, u can still right the wrong.

now if i may ask u, in which position did mikel play in the last game? how do u analyse a team with two defensive midfielders? who do u rate as the best player in nigeria presently? from ur answer as shown in no 2 above, do u still blame mikel or the coach for whatsoever disappointment nigeria had in maputo?

where was okocha when nigeria failed to go to world cup in germany? where was etim when nigeria refused to qualify for world cup in all his days as a footballer? do u know the importance of friendly matches for every team? how many of these friendly matches does nigeria organise for these boys? what do u expect from a team that never play together unless during a competetive match or do u blame mikel for not organising any?
SportsRe: Etim Slams Mikel, Martins by chidichris(m): 8:30pm On Apr 01, 2009
Waoh!

Even though our country have many problems but good medical doctors is not one of them.

I doubt anyone can force him to play.

# Do you know that Mikel use Nigeria to rise to the top?

## Do you know that if he didnt play for Nigeria he may be thrown out of England?
@akolawole,
if one of the problems of nigeria is not medical, why is it that all our leaders or even rich nigerians do not seek medical attention here in nigeria?
if mikel used nigeria to rise top, who did martins use to rise?  why did u not rise with nigeria?  why are other people here not rising with nigeria?  what happened to other players who played alongside mikel in his rising days?
what happened to yakubu when he refused to play for nigeria under eguavon?  what do  you tell nigerians who decided to play for other countries?  what was mikel's offense in the last match?  if the coach felt mikel was not playing well in a particular game, is it not as easy as changing him? why is it that nigerians are always interested in a man out of all the invited players yet nobody believes he is a good player?

Etim is full of smokes and has nothing to offer. he shld be concentrating of his phone saga with okocha rather than talking a profession in which he is a failure.

@ chidichris, Eastbay’s answer has flawed your post above. Maradona was a drug addict and is doing a good job managing Argentina. Why castigate Etim because of his past? I am not a fan of his character but that does not disqualify him from airing his view especially as it concerns his motherland.
Maitema,
maradona has no respect as long s football is concerned. if football is an individual game, he shld have been stripped off all his medals. argentina is a drug country and drug barons have their ways over there. that a mad is rulling in argentina does not make mad men good for leadership.
etim can do anything to smoke likewise ur maradona. do not be surprised that maradona has legalized drugs in his national team.
i hope u are aware that marodona despite all his records in football, has nothing good in fifa like pele.
nigerians are good in learning bad things. because a drug adict is now the coach of argentina, we can now make a ganja man the president of nigeria.
if not for the influence of ganja, etim shld have known that the coach had the power and right to change mikel and martins if they were not playing the way he wants.
if a player remains in the field of play through out a game, it means he is playing to the satisfaction of his coach.
SportsRe: Mikel Obi Almost Fainted -emenalo by chidichris(m): 8:07pm On Apr 01, 2009
Who is Mike Emenalo? Is he not that boy that nobody knew? the same boy that was playing his oblivious football in the U.S. and from nowhere Westerhof imposed him on our U.S.A '94 team? Isnt he the infamous no.26? the incompetent central defender! Was is not his inability to cover for Cerezo (Eguavoen) properly that left Eguavoen with no option than no bring down Roberto Baggio in the 86th minute and then the Italians got a penalty that gave them the equalizer and then ultimately spur them to win the game and deny Nigeria of a historic quarterfinal place in the World cup? As far as I am concerned that is as far as his history as a Nigerian player goes. He should shut up! and look for better ways to protect his job as a Chelski scout rather than use Nigeria-Mikel issue as a leverage to get into good books of his employers.

Emmanueal Adebayor was injured and had not played for Arsenal for 5weeks yet rather than wait to to return to England to get an okay from his team’s medical staff and then start playing for Arsenal after a long layoff he opted to play for his country and scored the only goal that destroyed Cameroun.

Where is patriotism in this country? Why is an ingrate like Emenalo who wants our players to only serve their fatherland when extremely convenient for them a voice in our football? Emenalo is a nonentity and a bloody opportunist. I remember Nduka Ugbade was deprived of the opportunity to be in our U.S.A ’94 team and ultimately make history as the first player in the world to play in u-17, u-21 and senior world cup because his expected place was "dramatically" conceded to Emenalo, and this is how this scumbag pays Nigeria; putting Chelsea before Nigeria.
@maitema,
this is an interesting news of no relevance.
emenalo is saying that mikel was not fit for that game and as such shld not have been featured talkless of having him in the filed for 90 mins.
talking about commitments to national team, where is sam okwaraji and his family in the history of nigerian football. how did emmanuel amuneke who played his heart out for nigeria end his game and where is he today?
i have never seen nigerians support mikel in anything he does yet the guy is growing from strenght to strenght.
from all posts and write ups since the last match, it is now obvious that mikel is now the problem of nigerian football. as young as mikel, the challange of what the future of nigerian football will be has falling on his head.
i have said it before and let me say it again, most of us who hate mikel have only succeeded in making mikel more popular than ever and this same group will turn back to call him over rated. why won't he be over rated when u talk about him even while u are sleeping.

SportsRe: Why Blame Amodu For Today's Performance? by chidichris(m): 3:25pm On Apr 01, 2009
Yes why blame Amodu?? He cant give more than he has. he can only perform as much as his ability enables him to.
Naija is a wonderful country, after missing out on the last worldcup, i thought we would have learnt our lessons and once and for all seperate politics from sports.

I wouldnt blame Amodu for today's performance. the first question to be asked is that, should Amodu be the coach of the national team??
During the last selection of coaches for the national team, it was obvious that Stephen Keshi was the most qualified for the job. But just because the bigwigs at the football house knew that Keshi would not let them have their way they decided to give the job to someone who they knew they could control.

the problem is not Amodu, the problem is the Nigerian Footbal Federation, those lousy idiotsup there do not have the interest of football at their hearts, they are only after foreign trips, estacodes and all the perks that come with office.

Do we need a genius to know that we should not rely on mediocre professionals (most of whom warm the benches at their clubs) to take us to the world cup??
why do we have to keep saying the same thing over and over again??
look at our team today, no drive, no passion, no hunger, nothing,

unbelievable, we keep dwelling on past glory.

i cant believe that we cant find one or two decent players from the league in Nigeria who can be groomed into competent footballers. Instead, we keep going round in circles.

If this is all we have to offer, i personally hope that we dont qualify for the world cup. there's no need to give millions of Nigerians high blood pressure just because of some selfish idiots who found themselves in the corridor of power.

i just pray for Niaja sha. personally (i know i've said this before), i'm not going to watch another nigerian match. as long as the same people remain in the nigerian football association.

food for thought, just imagine our defenders trying to mark people like messi, robben, wayne rooney, fabregas, robinho, joe cole, van pierse, drogba, michael essien. just imagine,
at last, i have seen someone who have reasons and points. many are blaming amodu while others are blaming mikel.
the truth of the matter is leadership.
how many times have these players played in friendly matches?
egypt team is doing simply because of the togetherness.
most of our players join the team from the airport. most of our players are selected on phone.
what do u expected from a trader asked to take over as a minister of educaion? our football have been used to compensate political thugs who have seen the industry as their own oil companies and wells at the detriment of football loving nigerians.
the competition in eagles have gone.

dayo,
No need to respond to this chidichris.save your ideas for better people.
He's a mikel apologist.

As for FBS,I wish you would get your head out of Mikel's ass.
You all but put your life on the line in the thread where we were debaing if Mikel was over-rated.
You probably know the answer to that, but we'll leave that post and dwell on the issue.

Mikel ultimately didnt boycott, but he planned to do so.
He only came to camp after he recieved massive criticism. And while you are right that Amodu is full of sh$t,it's amazing that a player of his "class" cannot make us beat Mozambique, even by one goal.
He's not the cause of the Eagle's problem. But the Eagles stopped winning when he started playing for the team during the qualifiers. It's just a statistic that Deji omotoyinbo and co threw up which is too good not to use.
He ground the Eagles attack to a halt.He couldnt boss the nameless midfielders in Mozambique.
you talk about missed chances by Nsofor and Martins. The scoreline read nil-all,so as far as I know,Mikel did nothing.if he can't made passes like he did to martins,at his level and after all the hype, then he must be an insane idiot.
If he's you're relative, tell us.The daft goat was better off not coming at all.
He never wanted to come from the get go.It would have been better for him to tell us he would be unavailable or uninterested.I would respect him for it,rather than for him to give a flimsy excuse of "sore throat' for his reason.
The over-rated,overpaid, overhyped twit of a jackass.
eastbaby,
i hereby change your name to northbaby as that will suit u the more.
i have been waiting for u to say that mikel is using juju on all of u including the world class coaches that have been working with him.
nigeria stopped winning when mikel started playing yet u all prefers to die whenever he is not available for a macth.
is it not better u shift ur blames to the coach who despite his inabilities keep on invting him.
ur dayokanu has been banned from talking football bcs he is a novice in the game.
pls be informed that soon mikel is joining the chelsea big earners.
SportsRe: Etim Slams Mikel, Martins by chidichris(m): 2:58pm On Apr 01, 2009
@Chidi

How come you always defend anything Mikel on NL?

Why?
Akolawole,
may God continue to bless u for asking me the esiest question in my whole life.
i will be happy to answer this one question with many answers viz;

1.mikel is just one player among millions of players in nigeria and as such i have not seen any reason for everyone to hate him besides i don't go with the crowd.

2. mikel was confirmed to be sick by chelsea medics and was asked to be excused for the game but nigerians insisted that the boy must come for national team doctor to certify him, do we have any good medical doctor in nigeria? if u say yes, why are they not threating our politicians? in other words, mikel was forced to play for 90 mins despite his sickness yet no one is saying any good thing about him. where is sam okwaraji and his family in the history of nigeria today?
i mean sam okwaraji who died while playing for nigeria.

3. i defend mikel also because he is not the problem of nigeria football as many will claim. is it wrong to organise friendly matches to make these guys play together and understand themselves rather than from plane to competitive matches?

4. mikel is a good player but he has no decission in choosing who will play match or where a player plays in a match. the coach has the power to select mikel or leave him out or even ask him to play in a particular position.

5. last but not the least, i have not watch any nigerian match where mikel scored own goal or loose penalty hence i always get confussed on the loads of blame o n mikel whenever the team did not do well.

do u still remember eguavon rejecting the award given to mikel by caf in egypt saying he does not merit it rather it shld be given to eyama. is that encouraging to a player?
SportsRe: Mikel Obi Is Not A Super Eagle And Using Him Will Ruin Us by chidichris(m): 2:43pm On Apr 01, 2009
@ chidichris & Dotman 01, I assume that you are both sentimental because you are either Mikel sympathizers or Chelsea fans.

My problem with Mikel in my capacity as a staunch Nigerian football fan is that he is simply not ripe for our no. 10 position and that our coaches should play him as a defensive midfielder and draft a proper Palymaker/schemer to join him because he has deviated from what we saw in his junior days.

I dont hate him, as a matter of fact I know him. I had the opportunity to meet him during the FIFA u-21 in 2005 in Holland. I lost my voice chanting for the team most times and his mesmerizing display portended potentials. When we beat Morocco in the semis most of us survived grievous attacks from humiliated Moroccans and we proudly stood our grounds that night. When we lost the final I was sitting with Mummuni Alao (Complete football) and throughout the match we commended the boy, little wonder he seconded Lionel Messi as best player, little wonder Sir Alex and Chelski scrambled for his signature. Today can you compare Mikel to Messi? When Messi is being considered for World footballer of the year, Mikel is busy bagging red cards for awful tackles.

Back to my point, Mikel is far from the player the world envisaged him to become or better still he has developed into a very good defensive midfielder. Therefore Nigeria should use him as a defensive midfielder and look for a natural replacement for Okocha. Maybe we should manage aged Kanu or even Oruma, Obodo until we find a real no. 10.

@ chidichris to your questions chronologically;

1. A playmaker is the man that brings in create spark into his team, initiates attacking forays and wins important matches with moments of brilliance. Examples of players I consider such are Pele, Maradona, Michel Platini, Jay-Jay Okocha, Paul Scholes, Francesco Totti, Cesc Fabregas, Abedi Pele et al.

2. The last time Nigeria won the Nations cup (Tunisia '94) Jay-Jay Okocha was our playmaker and we also had Thompson Oliha, who is capable and also played the role for the team.

3. My topic focused on Mikel because under such an abysmal performance by the Super Eagles the onus normally is on the playmaker to produce one or two class-acts to win the game for the team. Mikel was out of sorts for a “Playmaker” and busy doing his defensive thing.

4. Same response as 3 above

5. Mikel is a good player but has simply fallen below expectation as a Playmaker and metamorphosed into a great no. 4 (Oliseh) instead of becoming a Maradona he had potentials for. You cannot expect Nigerians to accept less just because you are either sympathetic towards him or a Chelsea fan

6. If true as you have mentioned that every commentator talks about Mikel after a match, then it is simply because he mostly performs below expectation.

7. I lived in England for a while and somewhat follow/support their National team (after Nigeria ). They suck! and they have been so for many years. They couldn't even qualify for the last Euro Championship when all they had to do to qualify was draw against Croatia @ home. They lost!!! Do you know part of the reason they suck? Because in my opinion, they play Lampard & Gerrad (similar players) in their central midfield, no defensive/attacking balance. Also, they believe in established names rather than prospects. Capello is trying to change that and hasn’t even had his way on that.

8. I cannot ascertain the exact problem of Nigerian football but I hold that lack of leadership from a great player is part of it. A charismatic player that gives 100% every time and lifts morale when down. In the past we had leaders in the team like Keshi, Oliseh et al. Right now there isnt any in sight. Kanu should have taken that responsibility but he is too meek, although I respect him for his meekness and humility. Maybe if your Mikel was a world class playmaker by now he would have carried the team.

9. My answer is NO simply because football has changed and they are no more minnows. You cant expect Nigeria to beat Mozambique with 10 players simply because Nigeria is Nigeria and Mozambique is Mozambique.

10. I am not a fan of Etim Esin’s character but he was a great no. 10. If Mikel had half of his skills now, I (we) wont be complaining.

@ Dotman01, With all my heart I am not criticizing Mikel because I dont support Chelsea. I have met him and have a picture with him, Siasia and Ogbuke together in Holland. It is just that he has disappointed me or let say Morihno ruined him.

You are boasting that he is the only Nigerian sure of playing Champions league and in the top 4 of English Premiership, but have you noticed that Hiddink has dropped him for Essien? Have you wondered why? I imagine its because Essien goes forward and has attacking instincts. Do you think it pleases me that Essien is benching Mikel? How many goals has Mikel scored in his Chelski career? I remember one "all body touch" goal. I dont even know if they awarded it in his name.
@MAITEMA,
your response here sounds too good to be truth but they contradict the topic of this thread which calls for removal of mikel from the super eagles.
do u think with okocha or etim in the last match nigeria would have won?
whose role is it to choose playing position of a player?
were u aware that mikel have been sick and was not allowed to play that game by chelsea medics?
when did wright philips score his first chelsea goal?
how many cards have mikel gotten this season?
messi was silent in bacelona until ronaldinho's exit-true or false?
if u can say the truth here, did u expect mikel to have played the number of games he has so far played for chelsea?

mikel was not benched for essien rather he was sick that he could only train for 10 minutes hence he was not even on the sub list on the game against spurs.mikel at the moment is not sharing the same wing with essien rather he is on his own as esien is enjoying free role in chelsea now.

before the coming of mikel, nigeria has been playing football hence mikel not coming for a game can never be the problem of nigeria.
that mikel was sick and was forced to play 90 minutes is worth commending rather than condeming. if etim was a professional as he said, he shld know the implications forcing a sick player to remain on the picth for 90 mins.
is anyone talking about sam okwraji till now? the man who died playing for nigeria.
SportsRe: Etim Slams Mikel, Martins by chidichris(m): 2:19pm On Apr 01, 2009
@Chidichris,

How come Maradona who took drugs also is widely respected and made coach of his country?

Both Mikel and Martins are useless. Or how come nobody remembers them when it comes award times. Soon Nigerians would be screaming that CAF is biased that They only give Adebayo, Etoo and Drogba awards. Compare what these people do for their country.

Let Mikel and Martins continue to Best young player while Messi who is younger is already in contention for the Global awards
Dayokanu,
the truth of the matter is even if fifa gives mikel or martins any award, nigerians will be the first to condem the action of fifa.
why did u choose adebayo, etoo and drogba among millions of footballers in africa or can we call the others useless?
henry was not a striker when he arrieved arsenal but wenger made him one and that is what has given henry fame till date. mikel was a creative midfielder before he arrieved stamdford bridge but mourinho felt mikel can do better as a defnsive midfielder. there is always growth in football and if we want to discuss football we must agree with the fact that mikel is really growing and i back this point with cards which since this season mikel have not recieved any red card or useless card compared to the previous years.
again, footballers grow to a stage where they have powers to direct other players on the pitch. use essien as a case here, he is big enough to have a free role whenever he is on the pitch unlike mikel who other players push arround on pitch.
ronaldo spent a few years on man u's bench before turning into a super star. mikel against the believe of 99% of nigerians have played more macthes than we expected in chelsea.
football matches are played in accordiance with the direction of the coach. who is interested in playing friendly matches to unite these players. who is interested on how many times the same group of players play together outside competitive macthes?
what did etim achieve as a footballer? he was unable to overcome ordinary hunger.
if mikel is useless, where are other players in his group? are we in agreement that other players in mikel's group are all dreaming to be like mikel till date?
mikel is just a player and can only play according to instructions.

See this flaming gay, waste of seminal fluid called chidigoat?

If you are not ashamed of your hopeless existence I bet your family are so disgusted at having a slowpoke as a child.

This is the classic definition of a slowpoke a dolt, a retard, suffering from Midlife crisis.

People who celebrated your birth are now regretting wasting minutes of their life . You would have been more useful to ecology if grounded and used for farm manure.

The generational ignorance being displayed by this cunt cant be rivalled.

American TV's do not air Soccer? Na wa o. I have never seen anyone more retarded than you. I am sure a lot of your dead grey matter a slowly seeping out of your brain as Mucus. I wont bother about educating you how. ESPN where most people watch matches is based where?

I dont blame you if that was what Village chief came to do in US is to wash, clean and do morgues I bet he is still a lot better than a jobless Sonofawhore called chdichris. Who wants to employ a retard in the first place so that you wont infect others with your madness coming out with the spittle from your diseased moutn.
You only job you can get is licking Mikels balls, i hope that pays u enough to see a psychiatrist soon.OAF

One reason Nigeria is considered a failed state is that deranged people like you are allowed to wander the street and even get access to the internet.
@dayokanu,
wow! what a wonderful piece you got there? you have spoken well. the ease with which you drop ur points here shows how perfect you are in this field. this is called specialization. at least, you have proved that outside flower cutting, been a mogue operator etc, you can do well in tongue wars. mentioning espn here has exposed your level of involvements in the game they call soccer.
all the same, with the little examination which i have involved you on now, i will again suggest that you get involved in such discussions as gay marriage, american foriegn policies as it concerns nigerians living in new orleans, the recial relationships between american whites and blacks as well as asylum seekers like you etc.
please stay away from soccer.
that reminds me, how is kobe bryant doing at the moment? what about shaquel oneal? what's up with obama? is micheal jackson back to the usa.
brother i hope you are not angry bcs i said that slowpoke (mikel) is doing better than you? remember mikel is doing better than most american stars so if you are less than an slowpoke, it means you are on the popular side.
i don't know mikel but with all i read about him, with all i hear from specialists about him, with what i see him do with his two legs, i have no other choice than to believe that the guy is more tan a blessed child.
in all, whatsoever you are doing there that gives you time to listen to me and watch espn's football analysis, continue with it.
by the ways, how come you are writing this time of the day here, what is the time difference with nigerian time? is possible u are living in ajegule here in lagos or iyana akpaja
SportsRe: Mikel Obi Is Not A Super Eagle And Using Him Will Ruin Us by chidichris(m): 10:08am On Apr 01, 2009
he should be high up there doing magic on the field but who do we have?
an slowpoke!
tkb417 ,
if mikel is an example of ur knowledge of slowpoke, please i will like to be one.
most of the commentators here calling mikel names represent regrets in their various homes.
it is funny when a two legged man who is created with no form of disabilities can do nothing but condem others.
have u for once asked urself why u are not playing or why is amodu not mentioning ur name.
pls i do not mean insult, have u ever asked urself or even seat back one day to compare ur achievements with the so called slowpoke. if u have done that and confirm that the slowpoke in question has done more for himself, his family, community, state and nigeria as a whole, it will not be bad to say or conclude that u are less than an imbe,
sometimes i look at the number of comments on yar adua and compare it with comments on mikel. mikel is fast growing too popular that everybody wants to talk about him.
he has become too important to be ignored.
SportsRe: Mikel Snubs Eagles Again Due To Sore Throat! by chidichris(m): 9:50am On Apr 01, 2009
joseph in the bible had a dream that forced that brothers to sale him to avoid the dream come true without knowing they were selling him to the realities of his dream.

most of us here hate mikel so much but the end products of their hatred is making mikel very or super popular. take a look at the number of players invited by the team coach, only mikel is worth discussing. from sick to not coming down to playing via not playing well. wow! mikel is so blessed that even enemies cannot overlook him.

God pls make me to be like mikel so that people will talk abt me even when i go to toilet. when will my enemies discuss ordinary soar throath.

@dayokanu,

Excuse no dey finish for Mikel. Even players playing regularly would be there to play for their country.

Soon he would complain about Apollo or wicklow

Any team I see Mikel in I support the opponent. The guy is just mediocre Pity Naija coaches have to go begging him to play.

If we can win SIlver in Beijing without him so WTH
u wrote the first when u thought he will not come and the second after the match. i have told u to concentrate on whatsoever u are doing overthere in the usa that is if u are there for real. i know a lot of ppl in the usa do not have time to waste as they must work 3 hrs in the mogue, 3 hrs in the mall, 3 hrs in cafeteria, 3 hrs in the garden, 3 hrs office cleaning work, 3 hrs flower cutting, 1 hr for personal\house cleaning, 1 hr for eating and movements to other work places and 4 hrs of sleeping. i seriously do not see u watch football(soccer) bcs american tvs do not air same rather basket ball. i have said this before and i am telling u again, football is not ur destiny, u know little or nothing about it, u will gain more doing what u know how to do best leaving football alone. on the other hand, if u hate mikel that much stop talking about him as u will make more sense keeping quiet instead of making the guy more popular in ur americanized attempt to ruin him because who God blessed no idiot can cause even if na american idiot.
SportsRe: Mozambique (0) Vs Nigeria (0) On Sunday 29th March by chidichris(m): 9:17am On Apr 01, 2009
the problem of nigeria and nigerians is politics in everything. mikel was sick and was not fit for the game but instead of looking up for a replacement, the nff and other authorities were rather more interested in mapping out punishments in case mikel did not show up.
to make the matter worst, he lasted 90 mins. we have other players who are hungry to make an impact. how can a nigerian doctor certify mikel when chelsea doctors confirmed him unfit.
if nigeria has a doctor for real, why is non of our politicians go to them even for headache.a lot of things are wrong with football administration in nigeria and unless those political issues are addressed, the motivation and unity among the players will not come back.
if you look at the team, there is no commitments yet they will come out to say the spirit is high.
at the moment, the pdp govt has no interest in the game bcs it is not oil related hence the privaization urge and for one or two reasons, the game has been used to compensate a few for their political contributions in the rigging programmes of pdp.

2. the last time nigeria won the african cup of nations, who was their play maker?
3. is this topic about mikel's inabilities or amodu's?
4. did nigeria fail to do well in mozambique because mikel did not play well?
5. from all posts here, mikel is not a good player, will it be right if i say mikel is either bribing all these coaches or using juju on them both at club levels and national team?
6. what do u think is responsible for every commentator to talk about mikel at the end of every match including you?
7. i will be happy to know who is the play maker of england at the moment.
8. what do you think is the problem of nigerian football - mikel?
9. under normal circumstances, can't nigeria win in moputo even with 10 players?
10. is etim among ur list of successful players in nigeria? if yes, pls highlight his achievements.
SportsRe: Etim Slams Mikel, Martins by chidichris(m): 8:45am On Apr 01, 2009
in an organised system, etim esin is not supposed to be a public commentator as he has a very bad record hence he cannot be a role model or someone to be listened to.
in him, i can only see ganja(Igbo - marijuana) speaking.
soon and very soon, i see nigeria and nigerians listening to normal people while abnormals will be shout down like wat happened to obj in london.
we can't continue lsitening to all these men as we will always end up their ways.
if we compare the qualities in etim and his achievements, we will all agree that he is an underachiever hence has no moral jurisdiction to direct the ways of others.
when it comes to football, we know who to listen to. etim has nothing to show for his football life and nothing to show for his life outside the pitch.
we can't continue listening to everybody. when next i hear etim condem any player, i will make it a point to get through him directly to remind him of his failures.

what is happening to sam okwaraji's family since then. in what ways are nigerians and nigeria remembering a man that died playing for her.
imagine nigeria asking mikel to come for their doctors to certify him. is there a doctor in nigeria and if the answer is yes, why is that our leaders go abroad whenever they feel the slightest headache.
nigeria is not worth dying for.
PoliticsRe: Seriously, Can Nigeria Ever Be Rebranded by chidichris(m): 8:20am On Apr 01, 2009
i am sorry for mrs. dora. well, it is like after a hectic day with nafdac, it is relaxation time. what a wonderful way of enjoying the fruits of her labour.
in the nollywood activities, rebranding nigeria will be a block buster and definitely will win a movie award.
on the other hand, there are possibilities in rebranding nigeria but not with this same PDP.
the first step in rebranding nigeria, will be rebranding PDP. pdp represents all sorts of crime ranging from high profile killings, fraud at different levels, ringing without borders, political thugry, deciet at high places, undemocratic democracy, mediocres at high and low places, winner takes all attitude etc.
any attempt by dora to rebrand nigeria with obj as pdp bot chairman, prof iwu inec chairman, yar adua president of nig, tony annenih as npa chairman, pdp as the ruling party etc will end up like other jokes designed to steal more money from the nation's treasury.
by the way, who knows the anticipated time frame for this rebranding.maybe 20 yrs and this might be the newest life time presidency programme as directed by the same director of third term agenda.
my interest here is dora who in the past have served nigeria in a good manner but i foresee her end up in the bad books of nigerians.
she shld have followed the part ways of okonjo iweala who left when the ovation was high as she refused to be drawn down the mud.
unless this rebrandng is designed to take nigeria and nigerians from the frying pan into the fire.
PoliticsRe: How Ogbulafor Embezzled Pdp Funds, Bought Mansion For N700 Million -nnaji by chidichris(m): 7:52am On Apr 01, 2009
this is another way of saying; PDP HAS YET ADDED ANOTHER FEATHER TO HER CAP.
stealing is a culture in the pdp so if ogbulafor bought a house or mansion, it shld be a good news to the pdp.
nigerians are tired and bored with all these irritating news of pdp. all we want to hear is the death of pdp and not their criminal activities afterall, it will end up with these criminals been judged by their co-criminals who will either set them free or send them to a 3 months jail for stealing billions while sending yahoo boy to 100 years jail term for defrauding a greedy whiteman.
PoliticsRe: How Ogbulafor Embezzled Pdp Funds, Bought Mansion For N700 Million -nnaji by chidichris(m): 2:05pm On Mar 31, 2009
I didn't read the full story but if the guy really stole the $6.5m, to buy a mansion, he should be stoned to death. Why don't people think of hungry people? that money could sure start a factory in a rural area that can benefit the farmers there alot.
9jaganja,
the problem is not the act of stoning the man to death rather the problem will be, who is worthy to carry out this action?
call the pdp members and say, he who have not committed the same crime shld raise the first stone and u will see them go one after the other.
one of the major characteristics of pdp members is the act of stealing and stealing public funds. none of the pdp members can defend the sources of his residential building alone. they are all in the same boat so if the man actually bought the mansion, it means he is on the popular side.
pdp simply represent a gang of criminals whose main objective is to dry nigeria in their selfish interests and we do not expect ogbulafor to be an exemption to the rule.

at least with obj on bbc hard talk with steve throwing the undiluted truths to his face, with obj's violent reactions indicating how wounded he was, i guess the usa kobojunkie is now at rest with the white truth.
americans are enjoying a better life today because of the good efforts of their leaders.
zimbabwe is suffering today because of wrong policies by no other than their leaders.
the u-turn in the political and economical situations in ghana are the products of their leaders.
policies are guides and parterns by which an administration pilot the affairs of a country.
good policies begets good living for the people while bad policies result into poor lives.
listening to programmes on the tvs and other news media will simply expose you to the acceptance even by our leaders that they have failed us.
the campeign of our intended leaders during elections always start and end with, i will bring change which is another way of saying the past leaders did not do well.
an example of a policy an effective one is the fashola\lasma trafic laws in lagos state. if u are in anywhere in lagos u will accept the fact that trafic offenders are seriously in trouble these days.

kobojunkie, go search for facts to support your position or drop this topic as you are dry and lack points.

The guy is ok norrin do him, saw him in a saloon in Kensington two days back(tuesday).
Don't know why he find it difficult to play for nigeria in them qualifying matches.

are u not coming for the match urself or are u a disable? that money that u used in going to the same salon with mikel shld have served someother important puposes since u are not a star. did u ask mikel if he was coming or not? or were u afraid to talk there only to run to nairaland where talking will not corse u ur teeth.
