Obasanjo is so popular, that two years after he left power we are still discussing him with so much excitement! PapaBrowne, pls be informed that obj is still in power bcs he is currently the chairman, pdp board of trustees. again, whenever you have chance, consult ur dictionary to differentiate popular from notorious. in the 80s, there was a big time high way robber called annenih and in the 90s there was another international robber called shina rambo and both men fall in the same category with our own obj and they are all notorious. when a man in mainly known with bad things or his life is full of criminalities, you say he is notorious. if obj could waste two communities, waste funsho williams, waste bola ige, course problems in anambra state, give illegal contracts, select rulers, skillfully pushed okonjo iweala away, retain mediocres like borrishade, work withother robbers like the late adedibu, tonny annenih, sleep with his son's wife, tried third term, impose yar adua on us, hmmmmmmmm, he is notorious. Obasanjo's major crime for this type of people was the use of EFCC to purse the THIEVES categorised as Corrupt Nigerians. He was accused of being SELECTIVE in Catching the THEIVES. The questions areKaydamus, are u saying three or six months is enough punishment for criminals like tafa balogun who decieved and betrayed a country that believed in him to be the chief security officer? if we go by that, how many years imprisonment will common criminals who steal ordinary maggi cube? pls mention who among all the friends of the past administration that is not a criminal or that does not have a criminal record. just mention one person. are you saying that it is right for a gang of five armed robbers to produce a judge to handle the case of other four? ribadu and el rufai are among the gang and they have turned out to be the judge so what do u expect? in which country of this planet will a president tell his country that an election is going to be a do or die affairs? charity begins at home, is obj respected even in his sitting room? if his son will accuse him of using federal contracts to lure his wife, what do u expect from others? orji uzor kalu once said that old age is the major problem of obj and be informed that old soldiers can behave like mad men some times so am afraid, what has he not achieved in his life and what is he still doing in politics? can he go back and enjoy his loots instead of fooling himself up and down? do u know that if the interview with bbc steve was done by ait, by now the reporter wld have been telling his stories in the hands of the chimpamzee? |

Christ himself rode on a horse and if by commission or omission here we call these men, men of God, i do not see anything wrong in owing or using aircrafts in their missionnary works. these are men who through the works of God have changed lives and give hope to the hopeless. living good life will even encourage people to serve living God. i for once enjoin these men of God to even own yatches as long as they are to the glory of God. |

despite all his shortcomings, i still believe obj is one of the luckiest man on earth. the only man among the over 150 million nigerians to have the opportunity to rule nigeria as a military man and 8 yrs as a civilian president. if not for his luck, how can he be alive till. why will nigerians in london have such a great opportunity and abused it. what can tomatoes do instead throwing bananas on him would have done a better job. had it been it was a case of stone, that would have served as a great lesson to future leaders. when next obj visits nigerians abroad, i believe he will not be that lucky again. he feels the whole world is his. |

MandingoII, if u are sound enough, u can provide 1000 reasons for ur foolish friend on why the moderator must lock that thread. there are rules and regulations guiding this forum and fools can go through them before using the forum. i have said it here times without numbers, the forum needs more actions to avoid this forum go the ways of nigeria where we have constitutions that are never active. that we have a free forum here can help us address problems of nigeria and not to start tribal wars. i know it is not easy, otherwise, i will urge the moderator to be more active with people's behaviours here but the most unfortunate thing is that we have a lot of crazy ideas in the house. |

Well, in the same Lagos, if you bought a piece of land and left it empty for a long time. If it happens that someone else occupies that land during that time, I believe after a certain period, the occupier can claim that land. The space Ibrahim occupied may have been illegal 31 years ago, but the fact that he was ALLOWED by every government in that state since then to continue to illegally occupy it, raises the question of the illegality/or not of his occupancy.@kobojunkie, i hope u do not expect all of us to sit here and stomach these out of the world lies. illegalities are illegalities not withstanding how many years involved. just yesterday, there was a news on yahoo about a woman who was involved in mall wondering in the past 15 years just caught by new jersy police. in america, crimes can take upto 50 yrs to unviel. your friend did not buy any land. his family members just collected and used his cash and tell him one funny story hence u have come to make the funny story a law here. fashola is out to give lagos a new shape and to me, there is no sentiments. whosoever is occupying an illegal apartment will be removed and there is nothing wrong in doing that. @poster, the alhaji vulcanizer must have been in the field of robberies all these years hiding himself with vulcanizer. how did he become an alhaji? if he is going into armed robbery, he shld always ask his victims their stories b4 robbing them so that he will not rob other ppl who lost their apartments too. otherwise, he shld specilize in robbing govs. |

Tony annenih 3. borrishade 4. bode george 5. fani kayode 6. chris\andy uba 7. el rufai 8. mrs. etteh 9. iyabo obasanjo 10. the almighty mourise iwu it is important to note that these people above have one thing in common and that thing is crime. God is the only one capable of erasing the mess obj has left this country in. now is the time for all that benefitted from the criminalities of the past regime to reinvest their funds into the political madness of nigeria via pdp. |

wow!, i was getting angry with this thread until i watched the bbc hard talk interview of obj by steve. it is the real answers to this thread. in his words, steve made obj to understand that yar adua confessed to the fact that the elites of the country are the problems of nigeria and obj simply said: yar adua is one of the elites. the problems of nigeria has its head quaters in aso rock. if there is anything that will be done, it must start from aso rock. the leaders have refused to be accountable to the masses so the masses decide to do as they like. the leaders of a country are like our parents and you can accept it as a fact that snake will surely give birth to snake unless in exceptional cases via baba jebu. i could see obj staying away from the uk for the rest of his life as he never expected what he got in the uk. |

obj is very good and i liked how he answered the question of what he thinks about yar adua, he said, i cannot comment on that. wow! obj will not like to visit london or has anything to do with bbc very soon especially while steve is alive. am begining to suspect that the steve of a guy is a nigerian. obj will definitely remember AIT while he was there. he would be thinking how he can put bbc into the shoes of ait and deal with them again. if that interview took place in nigeria, that steve would have been on hospital bed by now. |

I believe OBJ is the only nigerian leader who fought corruption in any way at all. And of course, his former boss- Murtala Mohammed.@Gettysburg, you are a truthful man for saying that truth. i will be happy to add to ur points in the following manners, 1. he is also the only nigerian leader who deleted two communities during his tenure in bayalsa and benue. 2. he is the only nigerin president who peacefully finished eight years tenure and demanded for more - third term 3. he is also the only nigerian president who openly supported political thugs - chris uba and adedibu 4. he has a record of unresolved political killings as a president - bola ige, funsho williams etc 5. he is also the only nigerian leader who was accused by his own son of sleeping with his wife 6. he has the record the worst election in the history of man 7. he also has a record of undone contracts and the highest expenditure on contracts with the funds gone into air i hope with these few points of mine, i have been able to convince you and not confuse u that obj is not worthy to be called a human being. please the hard talk interview is a must watch for all these pro-obj supporters. be informed that whatsoever he did as a president was done with our money and not his money. it is never a previledge rather our rights so praise the beast not for his madness. |

You guys have been thoroughly brainwashed by the Nigerian media, the fact still remains that the largest ever power project(11 power plants + several transmission stations) in the history of this country was initiated by OBJ even though he did not have enough time to complete it due to the fact that he started late. he started late becos it took a while to realize how enonormous the problem was due to mis-information from NEPA. However he was able to complete three of the eleven power plants he started, however they are not being fully utilized due to gas supply problems occassioned by the niger delta militia. The other 9 power staations are in various advanced stages of completion contrary to the lies that idiot ndudi elumelu was spewing out to Nigerians. Most of the equipment needed to complete this power projects are already on ground in the country(that accounts for the money released) only awaitng installation which is being delayed by yar'adua witholding funds for the completion of the projects. If yar'adua had not stalled this power project we would have been enjoying power 24/7 as at a year ago. Yet people find it convinient to blame the great patriotic nigerian that initiated this power projects@KunleOshob, that is a sweet one. at least in you obj will see a brother in need. if i may ask, where were you when obj choose fani kayode as his press sec. bcs in you i see a better option. my mind does not doubt how informed you are and how close you were to the past admin. if i may ask, when and how did this yar adua come into the picture because i can see you shifting more blames to him. it is possible that obj wanted a third term bcs of these projects that he was unable to complete. it is also possible that obj made himself the only qualified person to be the chairman of the pdp board of trustees to be in a position to choose the next president in case yar adua did not do well. from your sweet and well decorated poem, i am begining to feel that obj works with power suply company. if you did your home work very well, you will know how a federal contract works. power supply will be an agreed contract with a company whose funds have been released otherwise you will see them in court against the federal govt. we all knew how N300 billion was released to Tony annenih by this same obj for roads reconstruction and we also know how far he went with the money and the roads. in your mind, you will be thinking you are addressing primary school children. since you know much abt the deal, what are the names of the companies who benefitted from these contracts and how much have been paid to them and how is their balance. that is how federal govt's contracts are done. maybe, this power supply contract was given to moji his daughter inlaw to lure her to bed. your obj was very poor before 1999 and you can say how rich he is by now. he is a saint yet he forced yar adua on us via the worst election\selection in the history of nigeria. |

There is serious problem in this country and even educated Nigerians are ever ready to swallow the many lies being fed us by the corrupt few in position of authority, what a shame.@afam, the lies and truthfulness of our situations are obvious as they are reflected in our power supply, state of our roads, security, health etc. what will a nigerian say against obj when it comes to communication. his efforts are obvious and nobody is interested on how much he spent to give us what we want. no nigerian will complain when any govt spends $5 trilon to give us power. many of us use our roads and will have no choice than to complain with their conditions. the cries of nigerians are based on spending without results. obj is on the lips of every nigerian because to whom much is given, much is expected. the only nigerian who enjoyed the benefits of been a president for eight uninterupted years. i will tell you that 8 years is enough to start a project and get it to tangible position if not finished. how long did it take obj to bring communication to nigeria? tony annenih, obj's partner in crime is now the npa chairman. achike udenwa, former gov of imo state and the first gov to endorse third term agenda is now a minister. marwa who was forced to drop his presidential ambition to support yar adua or face efcc is now an ambassadore so we are progressing. |

i think dollar is the name of money used in the usa by americans. can someone please in the interest of nigerians convert this dollar into our own money naire. according to ribadu and obj, abacha is till date the only corrupt president nigeria has known and since the death of abacha, nigeria has been moving smoothly without corruptions. all our funds have been proparely managed by the good presidents. how mad is it that ppl celebrate our criminals. obj after his tenure in an interview regrets fixing our power supply and some of us cannot even define regrets. paid labourers. |

Kobojunkie, pls do not blame me too much if i do not understand english. i am not an english man neither do i live over there. again it will be more important if we will concentrate more on the object{the topic} rather than shadow{english language} maybe we will come to that later. you said your stance on the two topics are the same and i ask again, how do u reconcille these statements of yours below Rubbish!!! Aba is a complete eye sore now compared to it's state about 8 years ago and you want to blame this on OBJ? Kobojunkie, my interest for now is not on name calling rather to drive home my point and position. there are two different topics here 1. who is to be blamed with the situation in nigeria. here you choose to blame the masses instead of the leaders 2. the second topic is what is happening in abia state and on this you choose to blame the then gov orji uzor kalu. i found your stance on these two topics controversial hence i ask you to reconcille the two. please tell us why you choose to blame leadership in abia state and them the masses in the nigerian situation. calling me irrational or brick wall or whatever does not reconcille your controversies as long as these two topics are concerned. i am still waiting patiently to get the clarifications i deserve. on the other hand, this is a public forum hence you cannot overlook the personalities here. we are not all dumb. talking or connecting a lady on phone in the usa or even in the planet-venus still does not explain you controversial position. my interest is to expose the height of ignorance that are in the air here in nairaland and this i will do with points, facts, figures and illustrations. |

Mr Chidichris@maxell, thanks for accepting that point. another point here is that obj left power 2 yrs ago and i said no to that. do u know about the chris uba\chris ngige saga in which chris uba was acting as the godfather to chris ngige the then anambra state gov. obj is still arround and does not want to leave. he is the godfather of yar adua and that accounts for why yar adua has refused to bring him to books. did u see the situation with bush. a peaceful, free and fair election, a healthy hand over. how do u compare it to obj who made himself the only qualified living being to be the chairman board of trustees - pdp. the man obj is power thirsty and has decided to remain in power till death do him part. he gave our illegal contracts to his close pals and they messed up the country and look at the yar adua govt, the same old fools are always coming arround. you and i know too well the relationship bewteen obj and tony annenih and we see a kind of u turn here when yar adua decides to make tony annenih the new npa chairman. who is decieving who. i am here to tell you that what we have in yar adua is a modernised third term. |

Steal public funds = treason charge.introduce the system suggested above, implement such, use just five politicians to confirm your seriousness, you will see all the doctors, engineers and other professionals run back to their proffessions. the most imprtant thing will be one law for every nigerian. there must not be a secred cow. we can make death sentence a punishment for money laundary by govt officials like in china. 1 million ribadu cannot take us to our promise land only truthful and straight forward laws can do this job. |

I actually believe that you somehow think you have produced facts and the best defence for your side with all you have posted so far, when in reality, all you have done is produce one shaky excuse after another for why one should subscribe to your logic even when it is clearly irrational.@kobojunkie, thanks for reminding me of how irrational i am. @topic, can anyone here tell me why govt change policies and laws. nigeria and nigerians are seriously agitating for changes in our constitution especially electorial laws and this is so because what we have here have failed us. the govt itself is aware of the fialures in their policies and action hence they are ready to embark on changes and i hope am not irrational here. human beings from time are law breakers and the urge to sin is inborn hence the need to leaders to monitor the affairs of others. in every football team, there is always a coach to say who plays where and how and at the end of the day, failures of the teams are blamed on the team coaches - hope this is not irrational. why is this impeachment saga here and there nothing but failures. everywhere in the world, there are offenders and what matters most is the govt's reaction to offences. using china as a case study, death penalty is the punishment for public office holders who loot govt funds as against a one month jail term in nigeria so we know the differences. lagos today is reacting differently to the act of trafic offences. it is either u follow the laws or pay from your ass. imagine paying a N250,000 for one way driving coupled with a madness text. we all know how that is affecting our roads. laws are ordinary when there is no power to back it up. today in lagos more people are paying their taxes under fashola than the previous administrations just because of how he positioned the govt on the issues. on the other hand, nigeria is not democartic enough that protest will yield the results it yield in the western world. the human right situation will not protect the death of protesters. nobody has said anything till date on the odi massacre of 1999 by obj administration and it is not like that in the western world. the failure of third term agenda was not necessarily because of the involvement of the masses rather because of inordinate ambitions among the leaders eg atiku struggling to replace obj. it was a case of a house divided against itself. in other parts of the world, the govt will listen to such forums as nairaland. they will pay attention to the contributions of the people via all the media houses on public issues. people shld learn to give points on topics rather than insults and that is why i said nairaland is just like nigeria. we lack directors. somebody is surposed to be on hand to direct little minds on what a debate is supposed to be. might anything happen to this forum tomorrow, the leaders of this forum shld be ready to accept the blames. |

I have said it before that you can demonize anybody in this country once you have the power to do so. This country is full of hypocrites who will do anything to be on the side of the man that wields power at any point in time. Even those who knows the truth won't talk just to avoid the wrath of the power that be or can somebody tell me why all the agencies involved in the release of this money did not know how much they released for the power project? It is pathetic for this nation. I said it before that even the present Govt that condemned OBJ NIPP project has not come up with any better plan for the power sector. A sector that suffered neglect for over 20years, the only person that dare attempt any radical reform to improve our fluctuating 1000 to 4000mw capacity is OBJ, though there is a consensus that the project was not well monitored but then OBJ attempted what others have shied away from for many years. I wonder how all the morons that said all manners of nonsense on this forum concerning NIPP are feeling now.how stupid can people be. obj attempted to fix power maybe with his personal funds abi. which other country of the world does not enjoy electricity. we have the resources and non of you is worried over why non of our presidents is ready to fix the electricity problem. have any of you taking his\her time to convert $3.8 billion into naira. Like I have said many times on this forum, Obj's heart was in the right place concerning power. all in all, someone somewhere is in-charge of all these. if ribadu comes to court, who is he coming to implicate? his boss - obj. so he will not come. the oputa panel was a simple joke put up by one man to attract attention of nigerians. the seriousness of that panel was seen in the outcome of all that expenditure. not until that invincible hands of otah farm is cut off entirely from the governance of nigeria, nothing will move forward. after much time in office, the cartel is coming up with another distracting topic of tenure elongation. who said a dog can give birth to a snake? obj forced yar adua on us and the man is as confused as his mentor. ribadu simply means deceit. this was a man saying it every minute of the day that he was ready to die for nigeria to do away with corruption. this was the same man dragging people like goats yesterday pretending to be fighting corruption. how come he is running away from all invitations from every other authorities. to show that they are all interpreting scripts, why are they not arresting him. touch ribadu in earnest and nigerians will hear the untold truths so with ribadu free, the truth will remain untold. |

Is he defending himself or are the lawyers doing it?Debosky, if i may ask, all these procedures mentioned above, were they newly introduced into our law books or were they there when ribadu was the efcc chairman? could you please tell us how many of his victims were tried in absentia. this same ribadu who is crying foul play now was the same man who calls others thieves and criminals even before questioning them and i mean these were things that happened in about two yrs ago. if u have forgotten the ribadu madness, do u forget his reactions in the atiku saga? when will nigeria and nigerians threat all matters in the same way. the issue of selective justice has been the major setback in our country. ribadu was celebrated just a few yrs ago when he was using absolute powers to intimidate people and today he wants things to be done accordingly. do u think anyone would have been this stubborn with ribadu during his days? and we all know that the answer is no. |
