Before nkor?

By the way I say older men, not old men.
Older could be 2,3 or 6yrs ... such difference would still be a young man, except you are really old.
In a country like nigeria hardly will you find your "Kind of older men" that is not married or have kids, might even be a divorcee or widow maybe you should put all that into consideration

I still prefer the old generation husband biko. Not all this Gen z wey dey behave like chingum boys all over the place and be talking like a woman.

Till now I fancy men in their late 40s, early and mid 50s and this is why all the 30s and mid 30s guys that came for me recently were rejected. I dislike small boys. In fact one is still Pained now because I rejected him and is been fighting me since then but me gan dey tell am say I get craze for head and no be by force to marry.

It s just natural with me. Since my secondary school days, I've only liked older men. Young guys are a big turn off. The only young guy I ever dated was my ex but he looks very mature you d think he's in his 40s then but I senior am cheesy.

Older husband for me Biko. If man hold you , you know say man hold you. No be all this one wey trouser dey pull comot for their waist wey no fit carry common hammer, rake or shovel.
You like old men abi you like old rich men .... i understand as humans we all have "choices/preference" and i try to respect that buh when a young gurl says she prefer older men i feel its more about Gold-digging

its all a calculated attempts at financial stability, as most young guys are still trying to find there bearing undecided

PureFace1:
You are spreading misinformation

Selling is all always cheaper than buying when it come to P2P in all platforms.

The minimum trade amount for both buy and sell is 4000 naira in Binance.

Everything still follow the law of supply and demand, If there are nobody buying usdt in the price listed for it on Binance the price would drop.

But the problem is demand for usdt is very high which mean it is not really manipulation but the true value of usdt, even If CBN banned Binance there are so many Platforms with P2P like Binance unless CBN banned Crypto currency again which it didn't even work in the past.

CBN can just make dollar sufficient in the official window at a cheaper rate to discourage people from going to Binance to secure usdt as whatever rate is there, but it is easier said than done.
If you have a Car that is gulping "Fuel" at an alarming rate, ... will you be intensifying your effort to meet up the engine demand or you will try replace the engine or sell off the car huh

As far as Dollar is concern, people have tasted the forbidden fruit, speculator eyes are open to easy and fast money nothing can remove that mindset except govt attack "Dollar" directly with policies that we limit the need

jeejo:
I understand that what I am about to explain will earn me insults from a selected few individuals because the same culprits are active here on Nairaland, so I am ready for that as well.

If you go to Binance P2P, there is a heavy manipulation going on there, and from my deductions, most of the big Binance P2P Merchants are united in carrying out this manipulation. Some of them even have over 2 Million dollars worth of USDT in their Binance P2P Funding which begs the question whether these people are truly Nigerians or probably foreigners making money from destroying the Nigerian economy.

Many people might not understand the strategy these merchants use, therefore, I will try to break it down.

This is how the manipulation works:

1. Lets assume that the Naira to Dollar is currently exchanging at the Parallel market for 1,500 Naira. On Binance P2P, the group of Merchants will create multiple fake ads claiming that they will buy your USDT for 1,700 Naira(way above the parallel market price). I call these ads "fake" because they will set a minimum limit above 5Million naira, which means if you want to sell your USDT to them at this exorbitant rate that they created, you must be selling a usdt value worth over 5Million Naira at once. This strategy works in filtering out majority of average Nigerians that want to sell their USDT to these Merchants. Meaning these fake ads will remain at the top of the p2p "sell" section for as long as these group of Merchants want it to remain. And if by chance someone who has enough USDT to meet the minimum limit decides to sell to these merchants, they will simply cancel the trade, and create another ad.

2. Now because these group of merchants have filled the P2P "sell" section with these fake ads claiming to buy your USDT at an exorbitant rate of 1,700 NGN, they have automatically shifted the P2P price of Naira to USD to 1,700 Naira, and now they will be selling their USDT to the public under the "buy" section above 1,700 Naira. Now - unlike the fake ads they created with a minimum limit that is above 5Million Naira to discourage sellers for selling to them at this high rate - when they are selling their USDT at this already manipulated price, you will find limit as low as 4,000 Naira because they want to sell to the Public at the exorbitant price they created.

Binance P2P is the new AbokiFx where BDC operators get their current price of Dollar from. The fake price originating from there is in turn used by the BDC operators to set their Dollar selling prices even without any corresponding demand. But the interesting part is that these BDC operators won't buy from you at any rate close to the exorbitant price they are selling the dollar to you.
Here in Benin city, even though the parallel market price of Naira is above 1,600 Naira, the Abokis hardly buy your dollar for above 1,500 Naira but they will sell to you only above 1,700 Naira.

Some people might argue that if Binance is to blame, how come the official exchange rate is now above 1,500NGN to 1 USD? The answer to that is simple. Each time the rate in the Parallel market moves up, the CBN is forced to also adjust official rates upwards in order to close the gap between both windows or else the black market rate will be too wide that it will create an irresistible opportunity for round-tripping.

There is a huge rot in the entire BDC system in Nigeria that I don't think this CBN governor has any idea how deep it really goes.
I will keep reiterating, instead of all these brain gymnastics over a currency that is not ours, why can't we diversify from the dollar

At this point only drastic and unconventional measures can arrest the FX mess, govt are just tew predictable following economics textbooks & IMF it will never work cos the problem is man made

These are just temporary measures and are bound to fail. The forex market in Nigeria is like a hydra-headed snake. Cut one head; as you face another head, the first head will grow back. Cut the damn neck! In other words, let the CBN address the root of the problem instead of pretending they don't know.

Since last week, dollars injected into the forex market are mopped up.

Who exactly are those mopping up the forex?

What economic activity is tied to the raid of the forex?

Ribadu claims the activities of speculators are responsible for the hike in dollar rates.

My question to Ribadu is: why are the speculators not afraid of the government?

For many years, bank MDs have been accused of buying forex from CBN and the forex goes into the black market through back channels, for example, there are vulturistic abokis sitting in banking halls trying to buy off dollars from customers.

Who regulates those abokis?

If the $10billion the vice president said would come into the system enters, it would be evacuated by the same speculators which would not solve the problem.

My observation is that CBN has lost complete control of the forex market and are being regulated by the BDCs and population instead of CBN being in control. All over the world, forex trading is heavily regulated by governments through central banks.

What I also observed is that the dollars are mopped up by those who don't need them but are keeping them for a profit. Therefore, let CBN take complete control of the forex market through the following measures:

(1) Deregister all unlicensed BDCs. That market is heavily unregulated and until they are faced squarely by the authorities, the practice of the naira dying will not stop.

(2) Stop selling dollars to commercial banks as it is clear that they have failed in meeting their obligations to customers with the dollars. People who approach the banks for PTA/BTA and school fees are directed to the BDCs. Why do BDCs have dollars and banks don't? Even with banks, some people still approach the CBN to transfer their school fees. Infact, it was found that the banks had $5billion in their vaults. How come no one has been punished when these same banks created artificial scarcity to push people to BDCs?

(3) All banks should be compelled to show a statement of how they used the dollars they received from the CBN from the last two years. At least it would give us some ideas of what disappeared through the black market.

(4) CBN needs to carry out a tsunami on the banking industry. Use some bank MDs known for the forex fraud as examples by dismissing them for breaking the law.

(5) Once all these measures are taken, the CBN must protect all forex coming into the country to ensure the problems we currently have are not iterated.

In summary, CBN needs to take drastic measures to regulate the market.

There are other measures that can be taken to get the dollars from those who have stored them. Whether the CBN would have the will is something else. The Nigerian forex market is like those who pirate music.

Kill the black market for forex.
All these epistle and trouble for what .... is dollar Air

I think we are giving way tew- much credence to the Dollar, the scope of FX trading is level of "confidence"(i.e staked) on currencies ... at the moment everybody wants to save in Dollar against the Naira

The best solution the govt can implement is, re-direct the economy from dollar one way, the govt preference for dollar is a source of encouragement to speculators & BDCs

This is totally a wrong move.

Usage of Brute force will not force the arbitrageurs to renounce the only business line they have ever known.
Let the CBN sell FX through DMBs to all at competitive rates and the BDCs would crumble naturally. All these dramas will create unnecessary heating up of the FX market with the attendant scarcity of FX and continued naira devaluation.

I'm not a prophet of gloom and doom but I can deduce from the actions of the government that they may soon criminalize the possession of the dollar.

If all interventions fails to halt the slide of the naira, they may confiscate the dollars in dorm. Accounts.

There is no low to which this government can not sink.

Watching!
Your theory sounds half good, with the present state of things, the only way to strengthen the Naira is to decelerate the crazy high demand for dollar

Politics › Re: This Is Why many Hausas And Yorubas Will Always Vote Wrongly. by chidiokay: 9:24am On Feb 21, 2024
Kepukepu:
It does make sense that people who have been accustomed to a certain type of system might be more likely to support leaders who reflect those values, even if they are not good for them. There's a concept called "path dependence" that refers to how the choices we make in the present are shaped by the choices we made in the past. So, in a country that has recently transitioned from monarchy to democracy, it's possible that the effects of that historical system are still present in the culture and may influence people's political decisions.

Yorubas and Hausa had organized monarchical systems where they paid homage to a single strong leader called Oba or Emir, this influences their political choices as well. They always see a reason to depend on someone who takes the position of what the Obas and Emirs were in this current dispensation, irrespective of whether the person is capable or not. They always want to be led and to have someone they can call their leader. So it does not matter if the person is competent, they will follow him. It's in tune with their culture
This mentality is more pronounced with the hausas than with the Yorubas because the Yorubas re more liberal and has accepted western education more, however this cultural trait is still there in both tribes.

So Yorubas and Hausas are more likely to obey a leader who can enforce himself and create the image of protecting their cultural heritage than someone from the east or southsouth. It's in their culture to worship humans like demigods.
It's the way many Yorubas perceive Tinubu, Awolowo and Abiola and how most northerners perceive Buhari.

It's hard for someone to attain the status of a demigod in the east even Ojukwu who led the Biafran war did not win any state during elections in the east. Peter Obi is getting popular because of his competence and how he sold himself (most Tinubu supporters will argue this).
In summary of all these epistle, "Everybody is a boss in the East" where as it taken the East

What is enviable about the leadership style we have seen in the East over the years ... soludo as brilliant as he sounds what is he doing that makes east leadership style topnotch

As long as everyone continues to use importer rather than local goods. The demand for fx will always stack higher than the naira....

From your gate to your living room to your bedroom everyone uses 90% imported in their homes. Even when local is available and cheaper. We all still opt for these imported items.......

We all know the solution but the fruit of corruption is to steal as to use all that glitters that is not gold....

Buy local to grow the Naira.

And it is still the same corruption that has our fx rising because our main trade partner is China and we should be concerned about the yen but our loans and corruption is in dollars.
OGa there is more to our problem than local production, mind you when our borders were fully opened and little or no ban on items .... our Naira was Stronger than most africa countries and food were cheap.

Since Govt came up with measures to reinstate local production its being hardship upon hardship, since buhari started it we have gained absolutely nothing
