SalamRushdie:
My brother it will be same as fueling the current BRT busses pound for pound , do you know how large those batteries are ? I gather the Lagos busses need about 450kwhs to charge fully and and they would only make 3 trips with this before charging ..Trust me it will be the same , no be today I start to compare operational cost of Electric and ICT vehicles
Bro Electricity is cheaper than fuelling in Business industrialization and even Transportation that is why the world is diverting toward alternate energy.

i am not guessing, I agree using electric car by an individual can be very expensive But on a large scale as seen by lagos state govt .. it is cheaper compared to fuelling
Govt is not daft they did there feasibility before bring in those electric Buses.
Even at home, check things you use with nepa light and how much you pay in a month then compare it to how much you spend to fuel & service your gen, considering things you can even use on the gen ... which is cheaper
Politics › Re: Fuel Subsidy Removal: Electric Vehicles To The Rescue by chidiokay: 10:24am On Jun 02, 2023
SalamRushdie:
This is uhuru talk it doesnt work like that , a good electric car willl require between 95 -140 KWH to charge it fully From the Grid , the small generator Nigerians use cannot properly charge an electric vehicle instead it will mess up your battery ..so you need power from the grid or any generator above 60 KVA to properly charge them ..If you do the maths you will be be spending almost the same as fueling your car
You are talking individually, not on Large scale as govt intervention
Like lagos state is about introducing electric buses, whatever cost is incured to power it will be cheaper compared to fuelling cost

You get the thinking, same government said no more PPRA, yet continue to fix the price, rather than free market based on law of demand and supply......
Is it not when competition exist that PPRA will begins, for now NNPC enjoys are the sole distributors and that is why NMDPRA have come out to offer Licenses to interested investor

Until these private investors come on board and having products to distribute ... PPRA can't be effective

If there is actually deregulation and no more subsidies why then is NNPC fixing the price of petrol?
The smartest thing to do is to either give license of operation to private investors who have interest in refining petroleum products, give them a regulatory guideline of operations and you will see that no petroleum products will sell for more than 150 naira @pump price in this country because of competition.
Becos the present stock in the country was solely imported and distributed by NNPC, until private investors come onboard and start distributing by then NNPC we have no right to fix price

For now NNPC are the sole primary source

At the end of the day, the problem is, people want to be paid.

Transport costs are expensive, mind you. Remember our roads are bad, and distances are long.

That's why we have to get the railways fixed and a pipeline network running so that we have reduction in transport costs too.
Bro is it not the same transport cost we incured when trucks move product from depot in Lagos to various destinations,

We know Transportation cost remains but the focus is the Freight cost, excise duties & other cost associated with Importing PMS that will cease, Let them run the calculation for us, these people are unrepentant thieves
When you import a car, imagine the shipment is free, will it still cost you the same amount as the one in the dealer shop
Politics › Re: Dangote, PH Refineries, Others Won’t Change Fuel Price – NNPCL by chidiokay: 6:39am On Jun 02, 2023
nairalanda1:
There is still the cost of transporting the product from refinery to end user by haulage/trucks.

That costs money. Before, part of the subsidy costs went to paying for such things, now that's ended.
Transportation cost applies locally but what Nigerians are saying is freight cost associated with exporting and importing back our refined product becomes alienated under local production.

therefore you can't minus freight cost from Total cost and still tell us PMS price will still be the same as imported. they aint being sincere

Do you know other cost associated with Freight that will be cut off, and you are telling us all that won't count

So what's the difference between local production and importation?

He did not say why the price will remain same. He only said that the refineries will add cost of refining the product, why will the pump price remain same if the cost of importation is removed?
That is the insincerity on there part, Nigerian don't trust.
What is the essence of having a local refinery to produce locally when the price will be same as imported, maybe he smoked weed before going on the show.

Nigerians must watch these people closely and don't give them breathing space .... they just take Nigerians for fools.

A registered and popular Newspaper house with specialized editors who have legal backgrounds for courtroom reporting makes a publication and all you can do is to counter it with the Tweet of a stupid girl whose only qualification to have a say on the matter is a blue Tick.

From the story in the screenshot, what the Twitter user described is called "stepping down" a case in legal parlance. Stepping down a case is similar to adjournment. However, the difference is that adjournment means the case will be continued on another day, while stepping down a case means the case will be continued after some minutes or hours the same day.

The court is not a playground. It is a place for serious business. If nobody is ready to address a judge regarding a matter, when the judge says " fix your shit and address me when you're ready later in the day" it means the judge has stepped down the case.

What's the cause of mass hysteria then?

Subsidy removal is good only if it can be transferred to the government workers inform of increase in salary.

The subsidy money paid to government workers inform of salary increase will eventually get to those in the informal sector(bus drivers, market women, manual labourers etc)through the purchase of goods and services by the government workers.

I don't buy the idea of investing the funds realized from subsidy in infrastructure or agriculture sector;most of the funds would be embezzled.
Salary increment alway spikes "INFLATION" in Nigeria even before implementation.

The best solution is for governmen to divert subsidy funds in agriculture, transportation, health sector and see how they can upscale power distribution.

Stable electricity will go a long way to revive the economy

INEC did not give them all the document they needed for evidence. INEC is acting the script APC prepared. You would expect the umpire to be neutral and unbiased even in court.

INEC should be defending INEC and not APC. It's like a referee already taking side on a football team. APC isn't on trial, INEC is the main party on trial, and because the figures are not adding up even at their end, they refuse to give out the document to protect the results they declared out.
I am glad you brought in the referee,

Putting into consideration the unfavorable outcome of the outright removal on the poor helpless citizens and their businesses is not being emotional; it is being realistic.
Why do i feel people bring in the "poor & helpless Nigerians" angle when they just want to be irrational.
A rich man, as businesses, generators and cars to fuel .. are we going to trivalize that, do you know the running cost a business in Nig.
Or you guyz think it is easy to stay at the top, a poor man can decide not ON his i pass my neibor generator or trek, But the rich have to keep up with certain lifestyles.
We all are in it, but should be paramount is just way forward/out ... the nearest relieve to come his Dangote for now but we must not depend on dangote.

However the biggest solution to all these problem is Less dependence on PMS. with stable power supply, train, electric buses, govt can cut the necessity of fuel to Nigerians that will enforce growth

I guess you are one of those idiots being fed by parents. So, you won't be able to use your head for reasoning

The best form of redrawal is complete removal, the pain might be sharp but it won't last, All i pray for right now is for the govt of the day to be sincere in there endeavour.

I think Tinubu is trying to creat soft landing for dangote, it can only be a relieve when market prices slope from high to low price, if Tinubu leave Nigerians to keep buying fuel at 195 till dangote step in, it will creat serious problem for dangote, but now we are buying 500 if dangote comes with 400 Nigerians will appreciate nd see it as relieve, psychology 401.

Even the middle class HV started parking their vehicles at home. How do u fuel ur tank with 500 naira per litter. FG dey mad??

Tinubu is just too hasty in making that announcement. There should have been a two year programme ahead that would have cushioned d effect..like a transitional program. U can't just wake up and say u removing subsidy and put everyone in jeopardy and mess. This can never happen in Europe..everywhere would have been BUrned down by now.

Tinubu should rescind his decision and roll out a two year subsidy palliative program like increase in minimum wage, salaries and food price control that will mk Mk subsidy removal more tolerable. undecided
Two year transitional 😂 out of four year tenure,
what Tinubu did now was what we should have done 12yrs ago but most of us did not understand then.
The biggest mistake jonathan & Buhari made around subsidy was they try to do it gradually and before they make any process they are pulled back into full subsidy.

For the Genz that might not know, the issue of subsidy removal is at @least 12yrs overdue ... so the issue of partial & gradual will only depict Unseriousness.

Make no mistake, I’m not in support of subsidy retention, I just have issues with how the removal process is being implemented.

And about the budget, supplementary budgeting can be made whether it’s for recurrent expenditure or for capital expenditure.

And talking about waiting for the 10th Senate, not 11th Senate, we are talking about people that will be inaugurated on the 13th of June. Already there’s budgetary provision for subsidy until the end of June. The supplementary budget can be prepared while waiting for their inauguration and sent to them immediately they are inaugurated.

Where will Peter Obi see 50% to pay subsidy?

Have you ever heard of supplementary budget?

And hey, Obi did not say he would not remove Subsidy 100% in the long run. What he was trying to say is that the removal has to be systematic to mitigate against the harsh effects that would come with the removal.

Government first needed to remove about 50% to free up funds for itself. Then issue licenses to private companies to import fuel while supporting both modular and big refineries to come up on stream to make for local sufficiency of the product at which time the government can then remove the remaining 50%.

And I assure you, things wouldn’t have been as chaotic as they are now.

The true test of a man are his actions or record atleast not words, anybody can wake up and say they we turn earth to heaven ... until you do it remains a delusion.

Peter Obi can't make a supplementary budget all becos of a re-current expenditure that that has no provision in the main budget ... how about you educate yourself on what triggers the need for supplementary budget
50% subsidy is counter productive becos marketers will still cashing out and we will still be borrowing ... that is still a burden.

Nigeria economy is on the verge of dying... survival 1st, today Nndpr have offered to issue license to private firms that want to import fuel and already we know Dangote refinery is lined up to meet Nigeria total demand in a day.
