More than a million Yoruba live in the Southeast.
There is no boundary for movement of people in a country.
If these people desperate to recover landed properties of Igbos in Lagos continue, the fracas that will follow can take place in every state of Nigeria.
I no argue, millions of yoruba live in the south east to do tailor or sell agbo .. we hear we agree

But is tailoring & agbo the only thing yorubas know how to do, why can't a kazeem in Nnewi open a mechanic shop or sell electronics, why can't a folake in east sell pepper, frozen food & groceries @least these are universal trade .... Let not fool ourselves dem no born non indigenes well in the East to set up same Business as igbos in the East and they will survive it.

Any yoruba going to the East your fate is to be Tailor(m) or sell Agbado (f) thanks for the match making 🤣🤣🤣

I understand your logic and it makes perfect sense to me since BVAS is the primary source of accreditation data and form EC8A the primary source of election results. But the intention behind the law was to create a MAKER-CHECKER control mechanism to ensure that the results are not tampered with after conclusion of activities at the polling unit. The only way to guarantee that is to transmit directly from the polling unit. If LP has proof that the information on the physical form EC8A differs from what was uploaded on IREV then they have a solid case. Their case will only be jinxed if what they have on the physical copy corresponds with what is on IREV and their only basis of argument is that the results were not uploaded directly cos like u said, the collation officer can as well claim that he confirmed from BVAS since IREV was not mentioned in the electoral act.
Despite taking my time to highlight the whole section 64 out, where you see IREV or should we just argue outside the laws

Electoral act clearly spells out how discrepancies & dispute will be resolved emphasis to Section 64 sub 6 [a-d] .. the only materials recognised for resolve are;
i. ECa8 paper
ii. BVas machine.

BUT i have also had course to reason along your line;
Maybe if Peter Obi had presented witnesses that have recorded evidences of the ECa8 results announced at poll units in real time and those evidences differs from what was uploaded on IREV that would have "instated" IREV onboard then whatever Obi's lawyers are doing can make sense, presently they are trying to force IREV recognition on the court cheesy i like the way the judges are gearing them on

But Unfortunately, the law is clear and the judges are bound to adjudicate from the angle of section 47 (2) .. las las we go the Adeleke & Oyetola path until section 47 (2) is amended to
be subservient to IREV.

The nairaland site is not allowing me to attach images, read section 64 subsection 4, 5 and 6 of the 2022 electoral act. Take note of the phrase "transmitted directly from the polling unit".
No problem, i hope you know section 64 sub 4, 5, 6 is dependant on section 47 sub 2. cheesy

Section 47 subsection 2 states;

(2) To vote, the presiding officer shall use a smart card reader or any other technological device that may be prescribed by the Commission, for the accreditation of voters, to verify, confirm or authenticate the particulars of the intending voter in the manner prescribed by the Commission

Section 64 sub 4 stipulated the ideal process collation & announcement of results .. wink sub (a) is what clears it all for me

(4) A collation officer or returning officerat an election shall collate and announce the result of an election, subject to his or her verification and confirmation that the—
(a) number of accredited voters stated on the collated result are correct and consistent with the number of accredited voters recorded and transmitted directly from polling units under section 47 (2) of this Act ;

According to the highlighted sub (a) it is clear the BVAS is what is being referred to & REQUIRED, only BVAS was used at the polling units for accreditation, and use to transmit directly from the polling unit,

therefore upon discrepancies or dispute the returning officier will seek verification using the BVAS as stated in section 47sub(2)

sub(6) Where during collation of results, there is a dispute regarding a collated result or the result of an election from any polling unit, the collation officer or returning officer shall use the following to determine the correctness of the disputed result—
Section 64 sub (6) reaffirms the BVAS as the decider & path to correctness.

I hope you are open minded enought to admit at no point was IREV mentioned or referred to ; so what exactly is Peter & his lawyers doing in court shouting IREV wink section 64 is the ALPHA & OMEGA of these case
Politics › Re: Peter Obi Vs Tinubu: 16th June 2023 Live Court Updates by chidiokay: 5:26pm On Jun 16, 2023
ubaobi:
Of course IREV is a collation system, according to section 64 sub 4 of the 2022 electoral act, the result sheet form EC8A must be transmitted directly from the polling unit. When the presiding officer presents the result sheet at the collation centre, the ward collation officer must check the result on IREV and confirm that what is on IREV is the same with the physical copy that has been submitted by the presiding officer, it's clearly written in the electoral act. So if images are blurred or what is uploaded is different from what is on the physical form. Then there is a problem. So IREV is not used for collation, form EC8A is the primary source of election results, but the IREV is clearly part. of the collation system. In fact the law clearly states that where there is a discrepancy the ward collation officer will rely on what was uploaded Read section 64 of the electoral act carefully.
Can you please highlight and screen much that part, i can't see it old age don dey worry me

so you mean to tell me that with multiple government agencies doing almost same work like EFCC, police,army,airforce, Navy, DSS and others,we can not investigate and know the actual number we consume daily and also protect our borders to ensure that they don't move out?

That sounds like a huge indictment on the part of the government and the security agencies. The masses should not be made to suffer the consequences of the failures.

And our economy is dependent on imported goods is not because we love them but because we don't have an option. Our cotton mills are not working so we import to supplement and we don't have power to run our factories so they close shops. Why blame the masses who have given everything already.

That being said, what is the ruling class sacrificing? They are still collecting humongous benefits and salaries
How will those agencies know, is it even the job of EFCC or securities personel to investigate and provide data of quantities of fuel we consume ... you don't even know what you are saying

It is not the job of the FG or Security agencies, instead it is the job of NNPC and marketers to give statistics of quantity dispense per day ... but these two major players are insincere, they inflate figures to make back end profit and legal profit. with the removal of subsidy marketer won't order beyond what Nigerians can consume, taking fuel to neighbouring countries is no long viable,

We have a very corrupt system which is why trying to block the loopholes in subsidy would alway an effort in futility, from NNPC to marketers to Security agencies & those at the boarder majority of them are fantastically corrupt.

Our economics is dollar dependent becos both the people and the govt keep failing to take bold steps. imagine Nigeria importing palm oil

ok let's say you're right, what will it cost the government to first of all block the loopholes in the subsidy regime and that of round tripping of dollar before floating them?

A country that is import dependent has no business floating its currency. How can a country with over 100ml poor people liberalise its market and expect the same poor people to afford it?

Elections are gone, it's time we speak the truth because irrespective of whom you support,we will all buy from the same market
Why are you talking like a Nigeria was born yesterday, the previous administrations have they not all tried to block the loopholes, have they not all tried the gradual removal approach and did GEJ not push out cushion effect policy before the partial removal of subsidy ... how did it end

You want to know what it will cost the govt, in as much we don't have a reliable database system, all we have is inflated figures of quantity consumed daily, without knowing the actual figure, all move to block loopholes will not just be time wasting and chasing looose ends.

With the subsidy Removal, Nigerians will soon know the actual qunatity we consume daily ... that Result is what will determine direction & measures to adopt

A country that is import dependent will do everything possible to reconfigurate the taste of its citizen, as a govt you don't encourage inportation, e.g in china you pay more tax and it cost more to buy an imported goods inside china, when you hear the cost you will settle for china made cheesy

If the street price is 760 then no one who knows the street will sell for 700.
Doing so. is selling at a discount

It is clear you did not read did not comprehend

The point is simple Someone tried to suggest that somehow Abokis are getting CBN dollars from corrupt officials at a discount less than they would pay from a regular seller.

Those selling corruptly accessed dollars from CBN have no reason to do Aboki any favours And so somehow floating will spoil their business because they no longer have access to discounted dollars
It is a simple point to grasp so I don't have patience for dull people quoting he to talk rubbish
I get your problem now, you keep forgetting under these conversation we assumed you are a rich corrupt official cheesy ... you won't have the luxury & time to meet end customers, naa from your condition you dey take see am say you go fit hawk dollar yourself cheesy pele

A rich business man getting cheap dollar has just two option to maximize gain, either start a burea de change enterprise or find a market of middlemen .. a man of influence & affuence will settle for middlemen, to avoid being exposed, selling 700 for what you got at 460 is moon over profit.

What you don't know is that, in the chain of supply everyone as a profit cap you can't have it all except you won't involve 2nd party

If you are the corrupt official gettiing dollars at 460 and the street price is 760 why will you sell it at 700 to ANYBODY?

incase you forgot what you wrote or what kind of figure of speech is that.

Next time think before you talk, If you admit you will sell to the parallel market just like other rogues in the system then what is the essence of your lame arguement,

it is common sense People sell to make gain, burea de'change we make gain whether at single market or dual market, but the later pays more and give room for monopolized market, But with the single market FX there is competition against the black markets, at the end competition will drive prices lower.

Makes no sense

If you are the corrupt official gettiing dollars at 460 and the street price is 760 why will you sell it at 700 to ANYBODY?

WILL YOU DO THAT?
The simple truth is Abokis will make their money on turnover regardless of what the CBN does.
Remittances from diasporans is over $70 million a day.
They buy They sell. This narrative that they need to be corrupt to survive is unfair.
Those plundering the CBN have no need to do them any favours and often the CBN does not even sell cash. They do transfer especially big sums. Do you imagine Dangote is dealing in cash when buying forex?
Lets imagine you are the corrupt official getting dollar at official rate ... if you don't sell to the parallel market what will you do ??

This decision is the most senseless economic policy.
Tinubu has succeeded in killing the naira, wait and see what happens in few months.

No country totally floats it's currency including the USA.
Some of you are saying market forces will determine exchange rate but you should be asking yourselves is what constitutes "market forces" in Nigeria
Do you even know the parallel market is the true reflection of economic reality of any country
Do you even know dual exchange rates provoke distortions by manipulating relative prices in the economy and open opportunities for rent-seeking behavior for those who have access to preferential rates. therefore eliminating dual exchange rates would lead to a more efficient application of market-driven relative prices to allocate resources in the economy.

Can we even fool ourselves that CBN Fx at the official rate, are duly alloted or served. just few people ripping the country off, Mr A who needs $30 collect $100 cos of influence, sells $70 at black market makes ridiculous gain at the detriment of the economy & people, that as being our reality for years. the true of test of any economy theory or policy is the effect on the economy over a reasonable time frame, using 4yrs does the reality of the economic reflect postive or growth. The problem is to get a chiarman who can truly fight corruption without unnecessarily being a stooge of the president.
