dru23: Update .... So I called my dealer he said that 1.6l is 500k and the USA 2.0 is 150k (2.0liter was 150k naira when naira was at 360) .. 2.0liter is used by other Hyundai cars like Tucson and some other SUV ,which I can't remember. The USA 2.0liter is block iron which is much stronger....
He stated that those engine come from Korea ,Singapore, this is my update so far ,I will need to do my finding before I concluded and I will get back to you on the forum.
For a 2.0l engine that still cost 150k naira from two years till now is very surprising. By Friday I should conclude on my final findings ......... It is not over yet till is over Can I forward my banking details to you for instant credit of 10k. I intentionally left you to confirm the prices yourself. P.S Those 1.6L engines were built to last forever. |

dru23: No problem.... So the challenge here is dru23 says that the Elantra engine 2.0liter engine is more expensive and built better than the 1.6liter engine that was built for the African market..... So we agree now that is what the challenge about.....
0803 378 8932 this number is Mr.Okeye in ladipo he deals with Hyundai parts only, anything korea cars he has it .... So you can call him ..... That's the challenge. Pics 1 & 2 - 1.6L motor Pics 3 & 4- 2.0L motor

dru23: Keep in mind the Elantra was design to compete with Corolla, in terms of fuel and durability there is not much difference in the two .. Very correct but that doesn't alter the fact that a 1.6L Elantra will burn less fuel than its 2.0L US counterpart. But that's aside. |

dru23: Do u want to bet ....1.6L is junk and cheap.. They do not last at all .. We can 10k naira if u want I accept your challenge.

Autos › Re: Avoid 20w50 Oil.. 2003 Honda Civic Update by chillex8(m): 1:57am On Dec 23, 2020 |
dru23: For elantra engine ,the African built are the worse ones.. They are more cheaper than the USA built ..USA elantra engines are 2.0liter and the ones built for African market are 1.6liter .... 2.0liter is stronger ... I will call my elantra part dealer and let u known.... 2.0 is stronger probably cos it has few add-ons to the engine management system, but 1.6L is a fuel repellent . You will be surprised. |

dru23: From experince I totally disagree, we can agree to disagree .......
When we talk parts here we talking about parts that is in high demand for the Nigeria market .. Which is the Japanese parts....to make you laugh small , you will not see an Igbo man going to South African to load container for parts ..lol.
Must parts come from Japan for Japanese cars and the USA too.. Parts from Japan are more expensive than parts in the USA for the same car .. Same engine you buy in USA will cost u more in Japan ... the reason is that the Japanese don't drive their cars for too long and they tend to replace their cars more often, meaning that those engines will have low miles and importantly they are built in Japan ......
If you go ladipo now now , and you want to buy shocks for example they will bring you Japan shocks ,USA shocks and China shocks... the Japanese shocks will cost more ,based on the fact that those shocks are not as badly used as the USA shocks .....I use to import car parts from Japan early 2000 , I did it once and it was a tough market ,tough business.......
If you bring a camry from SA and the one from USA ,which one do u think will go faster ? Same year make and model .....am sure u know the answer to that .. Go and load 40ft container of Japanese cars parts from SA and make I load the same for USA , which one u think will move faster, forget about engine self ,cause those SA engines are different from the Yankee ones .. Yankee are stronger..... Lol Could be one of the reasons why African built/spec parts (engine) are more expensive than their USA counterparts. |

P.S By saying African built, I am assuming you mean the ones sold at dealerships in Africa as "Brand New". |
Autos › Re: Avoid 20w50 Oil.. 2003 Honda Civic Update by chillex8(m): 1:00am On Dec 23, 2020 |
dru23: I think he is bit confuse , which is understandable , is 2020 Tucson is not built for the USA market and 20w50 can be used.. So I guess he thinks that applies to all Tucson......
So the USA Tucson as a totally different engine 2.0gdi and 2.4gdi , I didn't even know that until I read the owners manual ..
I think his own tucson uses different transmission fluid from the USA version..... Unfortunately those cars built for the African market tend not to have the same quality as the USA built..... Elantra built for African market has a 1.6liter engine and the USA version has a 2.0liter engine .. African built engine version don't last too long and they cheaper in the market.. I can go on and on .....
Another example... some Benz built or assemble for the USA market will tend to have recalls due to the point that those parts are coming from different countries .....
But the Benz built in Germany are better built and last longer and will have less issues than the USA counter part.. Same with some Japanese cars ..... All these stuff didn't make sense until an I read an article about it years ago and it made perfect sense ....but if u don't read u won't know Actually they are more expensive than their USA counterpart. |

The Engine and Gear are perfectly in good condition. I want to confirm if RAV4 2003 will be accepted for Uber Biz in Lagos ?
Responses are needed from Honorables here.
Thank you Vehicle worth 500k. That's ideal for Uber. Try negotiating to 400k so you can use 100k for repairs and miscellaneous. P.S Hope it's the I4 motor? |

But, chillex8 won't invest more than 400k to purchase a car strictly for ehailing. When you are on the road, you see things, learn, relearn, adapt, re-strategize e.t.c. The choice is yours eventually. |

chillex8: Hello guys. Calvary greetings. So yesterday, around 5:15am, I accepted a request on InDriver from Iwaya road, yaba to Dolphin estate, Ikoyi. I was in surulere at the moment the request came in, and I asked the lady if she's ready to move because I will be driving almost 6km to pick her from Surulere. InDriver's price was #2,000. Got to PU by 5:25am and waited additional 5mins before she came out from one hotel off iwaya road. Immediately she got In, she said she will be making 2 stops. I declined to continue the trip unless we renegotiate fares. We agreed on #4,000 and journey started.
First we went to Idi-oro/mushin to use a cash point. She returned back claiming the Teller machine swallowed her debit card. After waiting 20mins plus for the machine to vomit the card, we left without it. Note: I don't believe the machine swallowed any card. She made some calls while we continued to the second stop. Asking the receiver to transfer money to my account so she can use my card to withdraw. I refused, telling her I'm not with my debit card. She asked me for cash so she can give someone at the second stop ( somewhere In onipan), I declined. After wasting another 10 mins at the second stop we proceeded to her final destination.
On getting to dolphin estate, she made some calls for some guy to come pick her up. We waited another 20mins or so before this guy showed up in an un-registered Toyota Camry. She stepped out and joined his car while he came to me to make a transfer. He typed my details and all checked out then he sent #4,000 or so I thought. Normally, when riders are making transfers I always insist to see your debit alert. So I was waiting for his, next I saw a credit alert from my bank via mail. Alas I was relieved and was about leaving when I checked very well only to see that I was credited #400. In utter shock I called her immediately as they haven't gone that far. I was thinking it was an error, perhaps. So I sent my ac details to her hoping that she will send the balance of #3,600. Till this very moment it I haven't recieved a dime extra. I have called and called. She sent a text last night that she will complete the transaction this morning. I called multiple times at noon only for her to say she's sleeping and will call me when she wakes up. My fellow comrades, i looked up her number on truecaller and "CUSTOMER DEBTOR" popped up. I have finally concluded she's a hoodlum and should be treated as one. Kindly treat as urgent. Her number is xxxxxxxxxx I have the names of the account holder that transferred #400 if need be. Wonderful comrades, we did it again. Credit alert of #3,600 confirmed and sitting pretty in my account. Kindly retreat to fight another day. |
