Religion / Re: Can You Marry Someone Who Doesn't Believe In God? by chinani(f): 4:32am On May 28, 2006
Yea, it'd definitely be a very hard decision. undecided I think the beginning stages would be more difficult than the engagement.

It's possible. Conditions? Well the person could not make fun of my belief in God or try to dissuade the children from believing in God.

Politics / Re: A 'Transparent Taxation' Proposal by chinani(f): 3:40pm On May 26, 2006
Well I'm not a financial genius undecided but I forsee #6 being a problem. I think it introduces alot of uncertainty into the government and even personal life. Uncertainty and fear (of the future) is what drives honest men to corruption. (Of course others are motivated purely by greed and they can prey off of other's fears.) It's also a mighty big task to have to do every year. How about every 5 years when the changes can be made that really take the direction of the country into consideration rather than a fluke year.

6. At the beginning of the new year, the new tax rates will immediately come into operation.

Education / Re: How To Get a Scholarship With My SAT? by chinani(f): 6:55am On May 25, 2006
Write a superb essay (personal statement) or whatever. Really sell yourself to the school(s) you want. When I was applying to college - many moons ago - I interviewed w/ an alum and he was like "Do you play an instrument?" And I was like "yes." and he said "When send them a tape." Well I didn't. . .and I didn't get into that school but my point is that you should really go the extra mile. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Health / Re: Menstruation Is Fast Becoming Optional [ladies] by chinani(f): 12:06am On May 25, 2006
I agree w/ Scorpio. I'm feeling you girl! I don't like the idea of messing with nature. Nature's tried & true if you know what I mean. And just b/c it does not have side effects now does not mean it won't be linked to anything in the future. Remember, no one thought cigarettes had bad side effects. And silicone used to be injected directly into a woman's breast. My friend told me a recent study said the birth control pill that is most prescribed to young women - it's economical - has been linked to ovarian cancer. But the medical profession does not tell women & such this b/c they don't want them to use nothing. So, I won't be taking this new drug.

But, as I read, I recognize that women want (sexual) availability & reduction in crankiness while men want the same thing of women. Well for some people PMS (premenstrual syndrome) time is the time of heightened sexual energy (horniness) and/or crankiness. It's a really hormonal thing b/c you can wake up in the middle of the night and feel. . .but enough of me sha. That's just food for thought b/c if you regulate & normalize those hormones and by extension emotions, t/o the month & year. . .wouldn't it be boring? I don't know. So I don't have that answer.

The female body - don't know about male - communicates problems through it's menstrual cycle. Like if your cycle get off, if it's heavier than usual, lighter, more painful (cramps) etc. I think it's very necessary for young women and while I think everyone should do their thang, I wouldn't let my own daughter do it if she was under 30 - if I can stop her that is.

Seun:
If my fiancee is unwilling to sign the prenup, it means she is planning to divorce me and take half of my possessions. A gold-digger will never sign a prenuptial agreement, but someone that loves me won't mind!
@Seun
I actually think the opposite. I think that a man who really loved & trusted me would not ask me about a Prewhatever. Yes I understand that people change. That's why marriage can be risky. But to me, the risk is an emotional one. When you're heart breaks I will not think of my pocket book, that's the sort of person I am, so I guess I'm speaking for myself b/c I don't know how other people will/would feel. Lastly, life insurance is purchased b/c we will all die. No one buys insurance and says "Good now I can live forever!"

I guess this issue is all about being comfortable & confident in your marriage. But a PreNup would not make me either.

Sorry Keele. The trust issue's a big thing. I hope you'll feel better though.

Dear Miss Rhodayln, you shouldn't have said that. If it does indeed serve him right then heartbreak is enough of a punishment. If you don't know that now, you may some day so be more empathetic please.

Ndipe:

Perhaps, prenup became a popular concept/idea among the rich in order to 'protect' their asset from gold diggers.
Yes, maybe. But then I have to ask, why marry someone you aren't sure about? It's a free world. If you aren't sure, WAIT! Patience is a virtue. I think people are very hasty & this is why PreNups are popular. But PreNups aren't air tight. Judges only give them a cursy glance in the UK - ask Mick Jagger. And in the US, well Donald Trump's 1st wife got more than their pre & post nuptial agreement specified. shocked I guess a good lawyer makes a difference. His 2nd wife got the specified amount. His 3rd wife. . .well I guess THIS is why rich people get PreNups. They marry for a season.

@Seun
I don't ski dive either. smiley But really, if at the alter your bride shrugs & says "I guess so" instead of "I do" wouldn't you re-consider? To me, PreNups are the written equivalent.
