Yes it is quite bad if you can predict how Nigeria treat qualifiers. Unlike the African nations cup qualifier where 2 teams qualify, only one team will qualify in the world cup qualifier group. Also, todays performance is a preview of what we usually do with away games, draw or lose, no single away win with teams like Benin and Rwanda. Benin republic is even playing on a somewhat neutral ground in Abidjan. Interestingly, Benin and Rwanda are also in our world cup qualification group. I can call it with a fair degree of certainty, we wont be at the 2026 world cup.

Those same guys who beat Brazil in 1996 lost to Togo in the last game before that Atlanta 96 tourney. Nigeria also used to struggle to qualify for World cup and African nations cup then, infact they missed 2006 world cup to Angola, they almost where looking like they could missed 2002 world cup to George weah Liberia until the final qualifier game. The 2002 team was disbanded as they lost to Senegal that played with 10 men for most part of the game in the African nation cup Semis. The records and stats will show that what you feel and reality are not necessarily the same. Most African football teams have also stepped up their quality than it used to be some 20-30 years ago when compared with the Nigerian team. The disparity of experience foreign based players amongst Nigerian team and many other African teams is narrowed.

This current set of SE Players came second at the last african nations cup and have not really been at any other major tourney apart from that. It is the reason i am pained we won't be at 2026 world cup just like we missed 2022 world cup. The current SE players are just a bunch of average and few exceptional players which was not necessarily different from what we had in those years. I bet we probably have it better now in terms of quality individual players , what i believe is worse now is the quality of playing as a team, the SE are quite below average as a team, it shows in most of their games, they are not team centric and the understanding amongst themselves is weak. The turnover in the SE team is higher than necessary is a big reason. In today's match, i see no reason why a first timer in the team like Osho should be starting a game, that is pure folly from the coaching crew. I always believe the Nigerias super eagles team of the early 2000s was overrated. The mid to late 90's were one of the best. The current crop of the SE players are not playing as a team yet, but they are individually better than all the past players barring maybe 3 or 4 players.

I have a premonition PDP will take this.
