LagosismyHome:she can always get another passport. IMHO, Being British or citizen of any country should show in your allegiance to that country. She was born here but choose the ideals of another country and so she should be let off to practice her beliefs which obviously run parallel to British. And then be free to acquire the passport of any country she feels more in sync with. Very simple 1 Like |

On second thoughts, I'm thinking maybe the husband played by the books and processed visa for the whole family but withheld hers and left with it. However she can still petition the High commissioner. An immigration lawyer will advise better. I feel her pain 1 Like |

[The little I know, no one parent can travel to the UK without the other's consent. Which is usually a sworn affidavit unless the other parent is dead or the one with the kids have sole custody after a divorce. She should get a lawyer and write to the British High commissioner. She can even do it by herself but she needs to articulate her points well. With evidence of marriage and birth of her children. If she is sure she has not mistakenly signed consent to him o. My 2p quote author=AltCtrlDel post=97455018] Pls what would you advise or what step can she take? I've gotten her to put up the story on Nairaland and Twitter. The topic is currently on the front page but no meaningful submission. She has informed the police too but they are demanding for money before they will act
1 Like |
Hi @ekaita If you haven't gotten a proper and direct answer, speak to other students in these schools because the questions you are asking are general questions that undergrads and postgrads can answer , if there's a WhatsApp forum for these schools join in,if they have Ambassadors speak to them. Addressing a few more, 1.You can modify details of your PhD study along the way 2. Systems are in place in schools to check if your supervisor is a racist or isn't supportive enough 3. Most PhD programs have more than one supervisor ( a primary and a co-supervisior) 4. You need a good rapport with your supervisor yes, but you call the shots because it is your research, the first year they help to guide,2nd year you are at par,3rd year it is your show 5.Doing your PhD doesn't limit your opportunity to get a job, for one thing it gives you a foot into the academia if you are interested in that field. 6.The grading for PhD is not same for masters( this one na another day talk) Doing a PhD I agree is very stressful but if it is what you want don't let anyone here discourage you Again if there are other things I can share from my study experience so far..please send an email i'll respond. Cheers Thanks so much Duchess my respect goes to you. Pls don't be discouraged by a few irresponsible nairalanders from doing your best to help with information. I truly appreciate your kindness. I guess the OP will be contacting you privately to avoid further show of shame here. Once again, thank you. 5 Likes |

Nay Sayers will always say it's impossible even when someone is doing it right before their eyes. Are you a PhD Student? How can you state experiences you have not encountered. Honestly we should say positive things or Waka pass. hosey: 5 Likes |

Wao. This one got me. So sorry about your husband. I pray God will lead you into the right decisions. I am so speechless right now but please accept my condolences and I suggest you try your best to be with your kids, they need you as much as you need them now more than ever. And don't fail to share any future challenges, who knows someone here might have the right solutions. Be strong dear sister! |
