Progressivegee: Update!
Hello guys, thanks for your responses and concerns. I replied my employer and stated some of the incidents of ill treatment, bullying and threats I received while working for them. I also told them to go ahead and report me to home office. After a couple of days, they mailed me to return my uniform and other company items in my possession. They also called to ask if I was still in the town or I had left the country. Lol. I laughed in my mind. My successful visa application mail was sent to me already. I took the items to them today. The MD came out in person to receive the items and went back in immediately. As I turned to leave, I said in my mind "good riddance".
I will be resuming work at my new place of work (a care home, no longer domiciliary care) in a couple of days.
Thanks to everyone once again for your suggestions and advice.
praiiiiiseeee the Lord! |

of course they will refuse her....if na you nko? CornOak: Hello elders.
Please I need clarifications on this issue.
A friend is planning to apply for student visa for herself and her kid. However, the husband is already in the UK and out of status (visiting).
Question: Would the hubby's status (overstay) affect the family's student visa application?
How can they go about it? Your answers, advices, and suggestions would highly be appreciated.
Many thanks. |

Gemma's Parents certainly are true Nigerians just as we all are. they saw an opportunity and took it and abused the system (as he said) otherwise they should have only worked for a while and if they get pregnant, go back to Nigeria to give birth to him so that they would be patriotic Nigerians (as he recommends).

Rubyventures: if everyone had this mentality, blacks would have still being in chain shackles. Even the whites that fought for the freedom of the blacks dont think this way. The freedom that the minorities enjoy today was fought for by both black and white. Not everyone wants to settle for less. Minorities contribute loads to the system, its only fair that they should not be shoved to the sidelines. Russia and Nigeria are not fair societies so dont compare them to the UK. Nobody is supporting anyone being shoved away, sentiments will always be part of decisions no matter how developed a society is and it will always contribute to sway the turn of events. until the end of time, racists or bigots or right wing or whatever you call them will always exist and also push their own agenda |

talking about being fair, I think the British (Oyibo proper) have been fair enough to allow everyone a seat on the table and to take whatever you merit....and I also think it is fair that some of them should refuse to have a non 'proper oyibo' as their number one if they can help it... |

[quote author=Modupeoluwa123 post=116252508]Hello family, how is the weather today? In 2017, I was a young girl of 18years serving my fatherland in Kwara, Ilorin Nigeria. In December 2017, I saw a post on Nairaland asking us to make a wish for Christmas.
you sound like a wise young lady...gratitude is always the first step to growth and more open door....
Have an open mind here, pick up any job you can do while reaching for the best, my best advise would be 'never settle', there is always more.
welcome to UK and God bless you Lexus, you and your large heart, God bless you! |

OgbeniOptional: Don’t you think all these apps are our problems? Oanda as at now is £1 to #499. Even going down. So I strongly believe all these apps dey encourage black market rates. I don’t think there is black market for Euro to pounds or pounds to Dollar. All these apps needs to be killed before they kill us as a country to be honest. They are making stupid money while the country as a whole suffer for it. There should be strong protest from government against these yeye apps.
How? people need FX to fulfil their dreams and government is not providing any. |

missjekyll: Abido Contains clobetasol which is a steroid. Not to slight you , lexus but this cream is bad news. Steroids cause paper-thin skin, darkening of skin in patches, diabetes, Hypertension, weak bones, decreased immunity, frequent falls, weight gain especially face and abdomen. You may want to stay away from this.
Before you buy this, you should probably know all of this as well. It's called informed consent. thanks so much for this insight. do you happen to know any that could help? |

Ameryx: Hi all, I think I need a bit of encouragement. I moved to the UK on a student visa in December. Before relocating, I was doing quite well back home. Earned around 2-3m monthly profit after expenses from my business. In fact, I wanted to reward myself with a Range Rover Evoque (about 13m) then but Nigeria was in a bad state and I used up my savings to fund my relocation. I landed with high hopes, about £4000 in cash. The reason for my earlier statements is not to brag, but to show you that I was doing well, and I just felt coming here would be saner. I loved it here whenever I travel for vacation, so I was without doubt that life here would be easier.
To my main aim of writing, I think I am depressed. I could not find a job in my first 3 months here. The only job available that most students were doing was care, and I wasnt vaccinated, so I could not start. I eventually started in March and the job gives me a mental breakdown each time. I am on my feet for 11 hours, and get sent around by staff who feel they are better than agency workers, I get hit by residents, I have been racially abused several times ,I did it for 2 months and I had to quit.
I have looked for warehouse jobs, not been lucky. Even customer care work, they reject because of my visa status. I am fast losing it, there is so much my brain can take as a woman. Does anyone know how else I can get a job, I stay in Bradford, so anything around Leeds is fine. I can even work in Manchester if the pay is okay. Please help. mine is just word of encouragement: be strong sis, what ever skills made you record such a high success in business in Naija environment is still in you, maybe you only need a little time for it to resurface. So, calm down, have another look at care work if thats all you can get for now, approach it with another mindset e.g. close your ears to racist comments for now, while on the lookout for a better job at least once you finish you study.# meanwhile can you not continue your naija business from here? maybe with some partners back home. the profits may not be the same now that you are not there but could still be better than nothing. Like I said, I just felt like encouraging you...this too shall pass just stay strong |

dustydee: Are you guys observing the double standard in this Russia v Ukraine saga? Not home office is saying Ukraninans with families here can come but the same home office denied Syrians and Afghans refuge saying they should claim assylum in thier first safe country of arrival. Then FIFA and UEFA has suspended Russia yet when The UK, France and US invaded Iraq, Libya and Syria, they were not suspended. Also the media organisations here are often fond of accusing the Russian media of bias but are yet to analyse the situation from a Russian perspective or from a Black man's perspective. So much hypocrysy. I pray that peace will reign and both parties will resolve their issues. Putin took a wrong step and the west also. I thought I was thinking this alone...... |
