Who told you that. All the things you guys are complaining about were 50 times more present in the 60s. Did we have roads then, NO. Most towns were in total darkness. Virtually zero electricity. No telephones, water was available to a few elites in the major colonial cities.
The difference was that Nigerians were more content then. The racism encountered by our founding fathers could not permit to remain in the West. Besides they really liked Nigeria and Africa. Nothing to do with infrastructure because there was none then. We just had a strong currency.

FYI all our founding fathers travelled out. From Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo to Tafewa Balewa amongst others. But they came back to That 'Shithole' called Nigeria to make it better. Travelling out has never been the problem. Many Nigerians travelled out in the 60s, 70s and 80s for studies. Most of them came back. They never complained and rubbished Nigeria the way some of you here are doing that.

You can choose to reserve a grave for yourself in The US, UK or Europe. That's your personal decision. But please do not make us believe that you did that because Nigeria is a 'Useless' country. A place you cannot afford to be buried in. Thank you.

It surprises me how you tend to stretch on the basis as to why people choose/willing to migrate elsewhere. Everyone will not follow your school of thought, everyone have the choice and decision to make when it comes to when to spend their life, its human nature to migrate so what the big deal? If you realize that major countries all around the world are hosting people from geographical areas thousand of miles away,why this level of closemindedness?

For the first time, i like your post. I like it because you have removed all those cliches about Nigeria being a ' Useless' country. A shithole and all that crap. I have NEVER been against migration. Anybody is free to choose where he or she wants to live. What galls me are people who come here to instigate young Nigerians to leave the country because it's 'useless' to them. I am very convinced that people move for personal reasons. I am aware of Nigerians who you may consider poor by your own standards, but who will NOT leave Nigeria even if a Visa and resident permit was thrown at their lap. My own cousin is a good example of that.
Most of you commentators here make generalisations that every Nigeria if given the opportunity would emigrate. That is totally not true. I can tell you now that very few middle class Nigerians will choose to live in the west anno 2014. Our eyes are opened now. There are very legitimate reasons why someone may choose to remain in Nigeria despite our poor infrastructure.

The reasons why my children carry red passports are entirely not your business. There is also nothing wrong with that. The issue has never been what colour of passport one carries, but why one chooses to live where he lives.

Lots of folks here are terribly frustrated that they are not able to live in Nigeria. It's very convinient to use the children as an excuse. Children have always been an acceptable ecsape route. Settling in Naija no be beans. You cannot be on welfare or get everything for the children free. From education, to healthcare and even clothes. In Nigeria you pay for your luxuries. So, to live "comfortably" in Nigeria you will need a lot of capital. Everyone has their own defination of what ' Comfortable " means. My children all carry Red passports. I have my reasons for choosing to raise them in Nigeria. When they are 18 and above, they can choose whether to remain in Nigeria or relocate to the West. My gut feeling tells me that they will stay in Nigeria. Because Nigeria can only get better.
I still maintain my stand that 95% of Nigerians in the Diaspora will return to Nigeria with their families if they can AFFORD it. It's not cheap to relocate.

Many would leave if they can manage to gather $100,000 together. I've done a random survey. However, it's very very important if we remain true to ourselves. There is no shame in one admitting that finances are keeping him back.

P:S- I don't have any problem with guys who choose to live in the West. I frequent the West myself a lot. But they should save us all the rantings about Nigeria being a useless country. You are free to live where you like.

The language spoken are predominantly Idoma. Igbo language comes second for areas that are regarded as igbos. Igala language is meanly spoken by some few who believe they are Igalas. To be honest, the Etteh community ideologically believes they are Igbos and has very little in connection to both the Igalas and the Idomas. You find most of the people there speaking the three languages fluently and intermix very well. [s]This whole crisis of identity wouldn't have surfaced in the first place if the not for some of the Igbos and their culture of segregation where others are regarded more Igbos than the others. The same people will say Enugu or Ebonyi is not pure Igbo but 'wawa', some Enugu will say Etteh is not pure Igbo but a mixture of two. If Etteh was long embrace and made to feel among by the Igbos, none of this cultural conflict would have surface. Those minority group wanting to joint Kogi are doing so because they felt they majority are more recognised and therefore benefit more by the Enugu gov't. Inspite of the upheaval, i believe the brotherliness and oneness of Etteh is beyond culture, language or tribe. PROUDLY ETTEH.

Yours is a sensible comment except for the bolded. Everybody or tribe is worthy until proven otherwise. The community is a mixed community. However, there is 0% chance of any part of the territory will be moved to Kogi state. The people (Igalas and Idomas) on the other hand, are free to relocate.
